Allow the knees to drop toward the floor, and bend forward, keeping the back as straight as possible.

The pull should be felt from the hips, which gives more openness and easier movement in the lower extremities of the body. This allow the sexual organs greater access to stimulation.

Another benefit of yoga for those desiring a better sex life is its strengthening of core muscles. Yoga can amplify the sensations felt during sex by training the muscles of the pelvic area to support sexual activity. One of the yoga positions which give more muscular control during sex is the following:

Mula Bandha:

This yoga move is similar to the Kegel exercises prescribed by modern sex therapists. Either in a seated position or while standing upright, squeeze the pubococcygeus muscle and hold for a count of ten. Then, release. The beauty of this yoga move is that it may be practiced anywhere throughout the day.

Yoga Pushups:

The third yoga move which can change boring sex into bedroom chills and thrills is intended to improve stamina and endurance. The longer a sexual adventure lasts, the more pleasure is derived from it so everyone wants to be able to go the distance. Try this yoga move to provide that staying power.

Begin this move as you would a regular pushup, but before reaching the floor, pull the elbows in and hold the position. Take five inhalations and exhalations before lowering the body to the floor. Just five yoga pushups a day can give you the power needed for great sex at any time.

Yogic Breathing:

Yoga move number four is a yoga exercise involving breathing which will heighten sensations and help you learn to stay in the moment:

Sit quietly with feet together and hands resting on the abdomen. Take short quick breaths through the nose only. Once you have practiced this, you can incorporate this type of breathing during sexual play to heighten climax or achieve a more powerful orgasm.

Peace of Mind Through Yoga

PATANJALIS ASHTANG YOGA SADHANA

YAMA (Social Discipline)

NIYAMA (Individual Discipline)

ASANA (Body Posture)

PRANAYAMA (Control and Regulation of Breath and Vital Force “Prana Prana”)

PRATYAHARA (Discipline of Senses)

DHARNA (Concentration)

DHAYANA (Contemplation)

SAMADHI (Merger Merger-- --Ecstasy)

The Yogic teachings tell us that we harness ultimate control over our minds, even amidst the most distressing physical pain and discomfort. This is reassuring to know, because sometimes too much pain means we feel we are losing control. The effort in practicing Yoga when physical pain is very intense comes in an attempt to gain back a sense of control that has been lost.

The easiest way to still the mind and gain a sense of control is to observe the breath rise and fall. You do not need any experience to do this, you only need to become a witness to the breathing process as it occurs. Watch and witness the breath without getting too involved in the thoughts you are having.

Try this: Come into a seated or lying position where you can gain the most comfort. The process of finding the most comfortable position (the one with the least amount of pain) can itself be a practice in patience. Try not to be in a rush to find the best position as it might take multiple tries.

When you are ready, place one hand on the belly and the other hand on the chest. You may want to close the eyes. Begin to notice the belly and/or the chest moving as the breath goes in and out. Observe the inhalation…then notice the exhalation. Observe the inhalation, the belly and chest move...then the exhalation, the belly and chest move. Do it again. Keep trying to close the eyes. Feel how the hands placed on the belly allows you to draw your awareness to that part of the body.

This is a simple breath awareness exercise, the most accessible form of stilling the mind and the first step in learning how to meditate. Learning to deeply focus the mind brings about a sense of power and serenity. Think about how a damn works. The river gathers power as it becomes more concentrated, until at its most concentrated point, it begins to produce energy. Similarly, as the mind becomes more focused through a continuous effort to observe the breath, we gain a sense of power that brings about conscious control over the mind. Observing the breath leads to feeling more in control, which then gives us control. Anxious and fearful thoughts are transformed into a serene acceptance of things as they are.

Viparita Karani

Steps to follow :

Lie down on the floor on your back with your legs together.

Keep your hands on either side with palms facing the floor.

Inhale and pressing down the palms, raise both your legs together.

Both legs should be straight without any bending of knees.

Keep raising the legs till they are perpendicular to the ground.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhaling slowly tale your legs back towards the head.

Raise the hips and lower back too.

Make the legs parallel to the floor.

Complete exhalation.

Stay in this posture and breathe normally a couple of times.

Fold your arms at the elbow and place your palms on the buttocks.

Inhale slowly.

Supporting your hips with the palms, bring the legs back so they are again perpendicular to the ground.

Exhale and again breathe normally.

Both legs should still be straight and joined together.

Keep your view fixed on the toes of the feet.

Hold this posture for as long as you can, breathing normally.

Slowly return to the starting position.

Benefits:

Blood circulation to the neck, head and face is augmented.

Adrenal, gonad, pituitary and thyroid glands function better.

The pose can help you develop inner harmony.

Keep the arms down straight in line with the hips and palms facing downwards.

Breathe out and on the next in breath hollow up the lower back keeping the buttocks on the floor. Lift the arms up slowly simultaneously over the head until they touch the floor behind the head.

Hold this position for a second and on the out breath slowly lower the arms down and flatten the back into the floor. Keep the body relaxed and the whole back supported by the floor.

Place your hands, palms down, underneath your thighs.

Pressing down on your elbows, inhale and arch your back. Drop your head back so that the top of your head is on the floor, but your weight should rest on your elbows. Exhale. Breathe deeply while in the position, keeping your legs and lower torso relaxed. To come out of the pose, lift your head and place it gently back down, then release the arms.

Benefits:

The spinal column gets toned.

It increases your lung capacity.

It helps in correcting any abnormal curvature of your spine.

Flexibility of dorsal and cervical regions increases with regular practice.

Kneel on the floor. Lace your fingers together and set the forearms on the floor, elbows at shoulder width. Roll the upper arms slightly outward, but press the inner wrists firmly into the floor. Set the crown of your head on the floor. If you are just beginning to practice this pose, press the bases of your palms together and snuggle the back of your head against the clasped hands. More experienced students can open their hands and place the back of the head into the open palms.

Inhale and lift your knees off the floor. Carefully walk your feet closer to your elbows, heels elevated. Actively lift through the top thighs, forming an inverted "V." Firm the shoulder blades against your back and lift them toward the tailbone so the front torso stays as long as possible. This should help prevent the weight of the shoulders collapsing onto your neck and head.

Exhale and lift your feet away from the floor. Take both feet up at the same time, even if it means bending your knees and hopping lightly off the floor. As the legs (or thighs, if your knees are bent) rise to perpendicular to the floor, firm the tailbone against the back of the pelvis. Turn the upper thighs in slightly, and actively press the heels toward the ceiling (straightening the knees if you bent them to come up). The center of the arches should align over the center of the pelvis, which in turn should align over the crown of the head.

Firm the outer arms inward, and soften the fingers. Continue to press the shoulder blades against the back, widen them, and draw them toward the tailbone. Keep the weight evenly balanced on the two forearms. It's also essential that your tailbone continues to lift upward toward the heels. Once the backs of the legs are fully lengthened through the heels, maintain that length and press up through the balls of the big toes so the inner legs are slightly longer than the outer.

As a beginning practitioner stay for 10 seconds. Gradually add 5 to 10 seconds onto your stay every day or so until you can comfortably hold the pose for 3 minutes. Then continue for 3 minutes each day for a week or two, until you feel relatively comfortable in the pose. Again gradually add 5 to 10 seconds onto your stay every day or so until you can comfortably hold the pose for 5 minutes. Come down with an exhalation, without losing the lift of the shoulder blades, with both feet touching the floor at the same time.

Sarvangasana

Steps to follow :

Lie down flat on the floor, on your back, palms by your side facing

Exhale and lift your legs up 30, then 60, then 90 and then around 130 degrees so they are extended behind your head.

Stay in this position, breathing normally, for a few seconds.

Now, gradually, exhale again, and straighten your legs up to 90 degrees, lifting your buttocks as well. Support the back of your trunk with your palms, keeping elbows on the floor. Gradually, walk your hands towards your shoulder blades, as you lift your body higher.

Look at the picture for guidance.

Your elbows may tend to move outwards. Bring them in, so they are straight in line with your shoulders.

You will notice that your hips tend to jut out backwards, while your feet tend to come forward over the head. This is not the right way to do it. Work at it so your body is in a straight line. Your hips, feet and shoulders should be aligned, so push your feet back and bring your hips and tailbone forward. Remember, this exercise is not as much about effort as it is about balance.

Lift your body as high up as possible. Sarvangasana is a shoulder stand, so your body should be resting on your shoulders and not on your back.

Hold this position for as long as possible.

Remember to exhale while lifting your body up, but once your body is up, you can breathe normally. There is no need to hold your breath.

Time yourself, so you can see how long you can remain in this position. The next time, try and balance your body for a little longer.

While this is the basic pose, here's what you can do to get more out of the asana:

Make sure your legs are squeezed together. The feet, ankles, legs, thighs, should all be touching.

Although you can extend toes towards the ceiling, the back of your

legs get a better stretch if you extend heels towards the ceiling instead.

Do not move your head or turn it to either side when in this pose.

Benefits

Sarvangasana literally means a pose for all the parts of the body. It is one of the many inverted poses of yoga, all of which are extremely beneficial. These inverted asanas work by reversing the effects of gravity on certain parts of the body, and in Sarvangasana, most parts of the body are targeted.

Caution

Women should not do any inverted poses during menstruation as it reverses blood flow. People suffering from blood pressure, glaucoma, hernias, cardiovascular disease, cervical spondylitis, thrombosis, arteriosclerosis, and kidney problems should not practice headstand. Those suffering from neck injuries should perform this exercise after consulting a yoga teacher, under supervision.

Steps to follow :

Exhale and bend from the hip joints to slowly lower your toes to the floor above and beyond your head. As much as possible, keep your torso perpendicular to the floor and your legs fully extended.

With your toes on the floor, lift your top thighs and tailbone toward the ceiling and draw your inner groins deep into the pelvis. Imagine that your torso is hanging from the height of your groins. Continue to draw your chin away from your sternum and soften your throat.

You can continue to press your hands against the back torso, pushing the back up toward the ceiling as you press the backs of the upper arms down, onto your support. Or you can release your hands away from your back and stretch the arms out behind you on the floor, opposite the legs. Clasp the hands and press the arms actively down on the support as you lift the thighs toward the ceiling.

Halasana is usually performed after Sarvangasana for anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes. To exit the pose bring your hands onto your back again, lift back into Sarvangasana with an exhalation, then roll down onto your back, or simply roll out of the pose on an exhalation.

Uddiyana Bandha

Steps to follow :
Stand with your feet slightly apart, eyes open. Different teachers have different ideas about the proper way to perform this bandha. Here are four possibilities:

Practice with your torso rounded forward, knees bent, hands resting on your knees.

Learn the bandha first with your torso rounded forward and then, after getting some experience, practice the bandha standing upright, hands on hips.

Practice throughout with your torso upright.

Start the practice with your torso rounded forward, perform Uddiyana Bandha, and then stand upright, with your hands on your hips (Iyengar).

Inhale deeply through your nose, then exhale quickly and forcibly, also through your nose (or pursed lips). Contract your abdominal muscles fully to push as much air as possible out of your lungs. Then relax your abdominals.

Perform what's called a "mock inhalation"; that is, expand your rib cage (thorax) as if you were inhaling, but don't actually inhale. The expansion of the rib cage (without the inhalation) sucks the abdominal muscles and viscera up into the thorax and hollows the belly (some teachers say to actively but slowly lift abdominals, or navel, toward the spine). Because you should always perform Jalandhara Bandha along with Uddiyana Bandha, come into Jalandhara Bandha at this point.

Hold the bandhas for five to 15 seconds. Then slowly release the abdominal grip and inhale normally. Perform three to 10 rounds, depending on your capacity, with one or more normal breaths between each round.

Padmasana : The Lotus Pose

Steps to follow

Sit on the floor with your legs straight in front. Bend your right knee and bring the lower leg up into a cradle: The outer edge of the foot is notched into the crook of the left elbow, the knee is wedged into the crook of the right elbow, and the hands are clasped (if possible) outside the shin. Lift the front torso toward the inner right leg so the spine lengthens (and the lower back does not round). Rock your leg back and forth a few times, exploring the full range of movement of the hip joint.

Bend the left knee and turn the leg out. Rock your right leg far out to the right, then lock the knee tight by pressing the back of the thigh to the calf. Next swing the leg across in front of your torso, swiveling from the hip and not the knee, and nestle the outside edge of the foot into the inner left groin. Be sure to bring the right knee as close to the left as possible, and press the right heel into the left lower belly. Ideally the sole of the foot is perpendicular to the floor, not parallel.

Now lean back slightly, pick the right leg up off the floor, and lift the left leg in front of the right. To do this hold the underside of the left shin in your hands. Carefully slide the left leg over the right, snuggling the edge of the left foot deep into the right groin. Again swivel into position from the hip joint, pressing the heel against the lower belly, and arrange the sole perpendicular to the floor. Draw the knees as close together as possible. Use the edges of the feet to press the groins toward the floor and lift through the top of the sternum. If you wish, you can place the hands palms up in jnana mudra, with the thumbs and first fingers touching.

Padmasana is the sitting asana par excellence, but it's not for everybody. Experienced students can use it as a seat for their daily pranayama or meditation, but beginners may need to use other suitable positions. In the beginning, only hold the pose for a few seconds and quickly release. Remember that Padmasana is a "two-sided pose," so be sure to work with both leg crosses each time you practice. Gradually add a few seconds each week to your pose until you can sit comfortably for a minute or so. Ideally you should work with a teacher to monitor your progress.

Caution:

Sciatica patients should avoid this pose.

Padmasana should never be performed immediately after meals.

Sitting posture should be erect.

Benefits:

Padmasana helps to get rid of flab around abdomen, thighs and buttocks.

The thigh and calf muscles become stronger.

Arthritis of knee, ankle and hip joints is relieved with practice of Padmasana.

The pose helps attain a straight posture.

Padmasana ensures the required blood supply to the abdomino-genital and pelvic areas.

All muscles, tendons and ligaments are flexed and extended during Padmasana. They are then relaxed when you relax.

Padmasana tones up the abdomen and spine.

The erect spine attained in this posture prevents compression of the abdominal viscera.

"Yoga helps you in creating a balance. Kundalini yoga helps you create bio-energy, It activates your sex hormones. There's a spiritual connection between yoga, sex and celibacy on the other. Yoga helps you achieve your needs, you can be celibate or satisfied sexually through yoga, it helps you supress or express sexual desire. Kundalini yoga is a bio-science of sexuality and psychology. It can rejuvenate through breathing exercises, which enhance consciousness, with bio-magnetic awareness, you can use your charms sexually. We have higher forms of prayananam ,''

Here are some of the yoga poses which helps in improving one’s sensitivity, better orgasm, enhanced energy levels and improved sexual power:

Lotus posture

Yoga, with its perfect mix of postures and breathing exercises, may offer just the right balance you're looking for.

"Once runners know about yoga, they're hooked," says Tiffany Cruikshank, an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher at the Nike World Headquarters in Portland and author of the 30-day yogi detox book, "Optimal Health for a Vibrant Life."

She says many runners come to her seeking yoga moves to heal an injury but end up considering it a crucial part of their training routine. Yoga has been shown to reduce stress, increase fitness levels and help maintain a healthy lifestyle. The combination of active and passive stretching helps warm up the muscles and avoid injuries most associated with the repetitive strain of running, explains Cruikshank. It can also replicate that elusive mental state known to athletes as The Zone.

To get the most of the ancient Indian technique, though, approach it as a complement to running. "Think of yoga as a balance to athletic competition, not an extension of it," says Alice Markel, Registered Yoga Teacher who conducts a regular Yoga for Runners workshop in the Chicago area. "Yoga is not a competitive sport."

Here's a brief list of benefits runners can get from yoga, as well as some common moves to achieve them. Since form is critical, be sure to check out resources like the "Yoga Journal" site to get free step-by-step instructions on how to perform these postures.

The Benefit: Muscle Pliability

People always associate yoga with flexibility, but that means something different for runners. "Really, it's about becoming more pliable. You don't need to be Gumby; you just have to make your body more adaptable to stressors," says Cruikshank.

What does muscle pliability mean for runners? Cruikshank says the goal is to make muscles "more like a rubber band, less like a guitar string" by expanding the functional zone of the muscle spindles and creating a larger range of contraction that allows the muscles to lengthen. She says this increased range indirectly increases runners' performance capacity, keeps the muscles supple and regulates nerve conduction.

How to Get It

Try the Low Lunge (anjaneyasana) for hips, Reclining Big Toe (supta padangusthasana) with a strap to stretch hamstrings and glutes, and Reclining Revolved Eagle (supta parivrtta garudasana) for the IT band.

The Benefit: Proper Body Alignment

Yoga also helps develop awareness of proper body alignment, explains Markel. A longtime runner, Markel actually put her jogs on hold when she began studying yoga professionally. "I realized that if I'm going to be pounding the pavement like that, I need to have the proper alignment," she says. After developing better posture, she began running again and realized many of her regular aches and pains — which she'd attributed to "just getting older" — disappeared.

How to Get It

Start with the Mountain Pose (tadasana). Markel says attaining that proper alignment begins with this deceivingly simple pose, as you can easily see how your form is off. Keep your feet hip-distance apart and shift your weight on your feet. Look to see what your knees are doing. Are they misaligned? Markel adds that the moment to correct your form is on the mat, not when you're in mid-run.

With each yoga pose, you'll continue to become more mindful of how your body is, and isn't, aligned properly.

The Benefit: Controlled Breathing

Yoga emphasizes the power of breath, with every movement related to deep diaphragmatic breathing. This makes the on-the-track benefit clear.

"I've had a lot of runners come in with tension and chest tightness, and yoga's specific breath work strengthens their diaphragm significantly, allowing better control over their breathing," says Cruikshank.

Focusing on the breath itself has a calming effect as well, says Markel. "If someone's really nervous about a particular race, deep breathing and breathing awareness can really help."

How to Get It

Practice diaphragmatic breathing through yoga's pranayama, the practice of regulating breath and achieving mindfulness. Start with your hands on your stomach and feel the breath moving up and down. Practitioners refer to this as the "three-part breath," for the abdomen, diaphragm and chest. You should feel the breath deeply and notice your diaphragm contracting, says Markel. This allows increased lung capacity while also helping achieve a more mindful state.

The Benefit: Mindfulness

"It's easy to look at the physical stuff, but really the mental aspect of it that we look at" says Cruikshank. Athletes have another name for this mindful, present state: The Zone. Through yoga's various postures, breathing exercises and meditative reflection, it's possible to achieve this without crossing any finish line.

"The word 'yoga' means yolk or union, and it refers to the body, mind and spirit connection," says Markel.

How to Get It

Just like other forms of exercise, yoga provides the greatest benefit when done consistently. That means as many days of the week as possible, even if it's just for 10 or 15 minutes each session.

By Shelby Sheehan-Bernard

McClatchy-Tribune

Yoga should do when pregnant

Butterfly Pose or Titali Asana

This asana opens up your hips and inner thighs, and removes tension from the inner thigh area. In addition, it stretches your knees and groin area. It is one of the most beneficial pregnancy poses and if done consistently right from the first trimester, it will almost certainly ease childbirth to a great extent.

Sit on a mat with your legs stretched out in front. Holding your ankles, pull both legs as close inwards as you can, so your heels touch your pelvic area. Gradually, push your knees down outwards. You can push your knees down using your elbows if you like, because you will still be clasping your ankles with your plams. Ideally, your knees should touch the mat, but you will not be able to do this unless you have enough practice. Bounce your knees up and down around 15 to 20 times, pushing them as far down as possible, as is comfortable.

You can prepare for this asana one leg at a time, working on loosening inner thigh muslces first. Stretch your right leg straight out, and bend the other leg so the ankle of the left leg is on the right leg's thigh. Hold the ankle with one arm, and with the other arm push the knee of the left leg down, until it touches the mat. Then, lift it up and push it down again. Be slow and gentle, and do not strain or you may tear a ligament. Repeat this up-down movement 15 to 20 times for each leg.

Squats or Utthanasan

Keep your feet around three feet apart, with both heels facing inwards and toes facing outwards. Interlock your fingers, and let your hands hang down in front of you. Gradually squat, lowering your buttocks. Keep your feet flat on the floor. Do not raise the heels. Stay down for a few seconds, and stand up again. Repeat around 15 to 20 times. 28-year-old Madhuri did 50 such squats every single day during her first pregnancy, with the result that she had just a 3 hour labour and an incredibly easy delivery.

This is similar to the position adopted by housecleaners when they sweep the floor, which is why sweeping floors is actually excellent exercise.

Cat Stretch Pose or Marjari Aasana

Start this aasan with the Vajrasana pose, where you sit with your buttocks on your heels. Raise your buttocks off your heels and bend forward, leaning on your palms. You are now on all fours. Move your feet slightly to the sides, so they are around a foot or shoulder width apart.

Now that you are on all fours, inhale, raising your head and pushing down the arch of your back. Your back is now concave. Then, inhale, and roll your head down between your arms, pushing your back upwards. After exhaling, contract your stomach by pulling the navel up towards the spine. Pull in your buttocks as well. This is one round. Repeat this six times. This aasan strengthens your neck, shoulders and spine, which is why it is also very good for the posture. In addition, it tones up the entire reproductive system, and is very beneficial for women before, during and after pregnancy.

Premature Eejaculation : Fear, anxiety or nervousness

According to Ayurveda, premature ejaculation is due to vata being aggravated. Vata is characterised by its qualities of quickness and heightened sensitivity to the sense of touch. This gives a predisposition toward quicker ejaculation and when vata is increased in a person with vata, sex cannot be sustained, or preejaculation is common.

Fear, anxiety or nervousness may be associated due greatly to the irritated vata dosha. It may also be due to high cholesterol deposits in the blood vessels of the penis and the whole reproductive system. This causes lack of sphincter control, resulting premature ejaculation when blood vessels become thick and narrow so that blood supply to the muscles of the penis and prostate is inadequate. To deal with this problem, we need to balance vata by following some of these effective ways:

Change of Diet

A man with vata disorder, should change or maintain a vata-soothing diet. Follow a low cholesterol diet if you have a high cholesterol. Keep sugar intake low if you have diabetes as men with this problem tend to experience premature ejaculation.

Almond milk

Almond is a good source for improving sexual drive and sexual related problems. Adding saffron, an aphrodisiac, to this milk drink makes it an effective remedy.

List of content, You need:

10 almonds

a cup of hot milk (cow’s milk)

saffron

pinch of ginger

pinch of cardamom

Method

Just soak the almonds in water overnight. Peel off the skin and blend it with the milk and other ingredients. Take this almond drink every morning and you can have second helpings in the evening.

Herbal remedy

A combination of Ayurveda herbs makes this herbal drink effective.

List of content, You need:

Vidari

Bala

Ashwagandha

Method

Add ½ teaspoon of this mixture to warm goat’s milk. Substitute cow’s milk if goat’s milk is not available, however, the latter is more effective. Take this drink twice a day.

Ginseng milk

Ginseng shares the same properties as the Ayurveda herb ashwagandha and is effectively helpful. Add ½ teaspoon to a cup of warm goat’s milk and take it after lunch and dinner.

Yoga Exercise

Try the following yoga asanas exercises:

The Bow, Fish, and Camel poses

Elevated Lotus

Vajrasana

Penile Massage

Regular massage to the penis helps improve blood circulation and stimulate the muscles, dilating the blood vessels and using the mustard oil has a heating effect that’s more effective.

Add 5 to 10 drops of mustard oil to 1 ounce of sesame oil. You can also use castor oil to improve the tone of the sphincter muscles. Use gentle strokes.

Take note!

Massage one hour prior to sexual intercourse. After an hour or beforehand, wash the penis thoroughly to avoid stinging your partner’s delicate skin with the hot mustard oil.

If you like, you can also massage the pubic bone and the glands penis before making love with brahmi ghee, shatavari ghee or another medicated ghee which you can use is ashwagandha ghee.

Prostate Massage

Prostrate problem like prostatitis, is associated to premature ejaculation. A massage to this area with castor oil is also helpful. You can also use sesame oil.

Apply a few drops of oil to the perineum, the spot between the testicles and anus. With circular motions, rub the area. Then complete the massage using light strokes, from the anus toward the base of the penis.

Contracting exercises

This is not masturbation nor a endorsement of masturbation exercise but an exercise to learn how to control your organ to be ready and not ejaculate.

Stimulate the organ up to the point of ejaculation. Do not ejaculate, instead sit up straight as in a Lotus position, and raise the energy level by pulling or squeeazing the anus inward in a series of tense-release movements, also known as Ashwini Mudra. Do this 10 times to train yourself to be ready and not ejaculate. Start this exercise 1 to 2 hours prior to lovemaking.

Other exercises you can try is learning how to control ejaculation by contracting buttock muscles. Find the marma point located in the middle of the glans penis, on the underside and gently press this point. Simultaneously, squeeaze the anus inward and hold it for about five seconds and then, release. Repeat this for another 9 times. Start this buttock toning about 1 hour before intercourse. This exercise will improve blood flow to the penis and helps maintain erection.

Yoga is a life philosophy

Yoga is a life philosophy, yoga is self-regulation,yoga is a way of life, yoga is the resolution of a diseasefree life and of a life of meditation. Yoga is the highest form of spiritual knowledge of self-remedy and selfphilosophy. Yoga transforms a man from a dwarf into a giant or transforms or raises oneself from all forms.

Yoga is not just an optional treatment method but, on the basis of outcomes, yoga is such a truth that removes diseases by the roots. In other words, it is not just a complete treatment method for physical ailments but also for mental diseases.

Yoga does not treat symptoms as in allopathy but it removes the root cause of the disease and makes us

healthy from within. To look at yoga simply as a form of exercise or as the property of one caste that aids in religious rites is an extremely narrow and ignorant viewpoint.

We should rise up from selfishness, obstinacy and ignorance and look at yoga as a science.According to an ancient belief, it is thought that yoga awakens the eight chakras and that pranayam removes the bad culture and sins that have gathered in us over many lives.

When I studied the scientific background of the eight chakras and when the ancient Sanskrit words were compared with modern medical science, I found that the Muladhar, Swadhistan, Manipur, Hriday, Anahat, Aagya and Shahashrar chakras are connected with Reproductive, Excretory, Digestive, Skeletal, Circulatory,

Respiratory, Nervous and endocrine systems respectively.

The work from the Muladhar to the Shahasrar is similar to the work from the reproductive to the endocrine system. With regular and skilful practise of yoga and pranayam makes these very eight chakras or systems fit and balanced.

The imbalance in any one system leads to a number of ailments or disorders. The language may be anything but the attitude of both science and spirituality is the same. Language is but a medium for expression of feelings. However, with the self-destruction that occurred over 400 years of slavery, we now consider Anabolism, Catabolism and Metabolism to be correct instead of Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

By not visualizing our tradition, culture and knowledge with self-pride, we are filled with a sense of weariness.

By reading the word ‘chakra’ we get moving in circles but when we read the word ‘system, we feel ourselves to be very systematic whereas the basis of ancient and modern knowledge is the same. Instead of the Ayurvedic theory of ‘Pragyaparadho hi Sarvarogana Mulkaranam’ (Charak), we feel ‘stress is the main cause of all diseases’ is more scientific. Now, let go of obstinacy and acknowledge the truth. For example, with the imbalance of endocrine system, stress and a number of complicated stress-related diseases such as heart diseases, blood pressure, depression, obesity, and diabetes etc. are developed. Similarly, with the imbalance of the skeletal system, over a 100 kinds of only arthritis can develop and a person falls victim to muscular atrophy. What I mean to say is that any imbalance of internal systems is illness and internal balance is freedom from illness.

By trying yoga directly and indirectly with thousands of people, I have found that regular practice of the main eight pranayams according to the correct procedure at a fixed time and with a determined mind leads to complete balance in our eight chakras or eight systems. As a result we get a healthy life from yoga. At the same time, the need for the chemical salts and hormones that we intake in the form of medicine gradually reduces because whatever chemical salts and hormones we have been taking from outside, we now start getting them from within.

Yoga is not a pigeon-hole like allopathy and is a complete cure. Apart from emergency and surgical treatment, in all aspects of the remaining treatments, yoga is a superior treatment skill. If Ayurveda is used along with yoga in the treatment of certain complicated diseases, then the effect is more profound. Apart from the disease-curing aspects of yoga, the spiritual aspect is very vast. Hence the principal aim of yoga is attainment of Samadhi or knowing the divine truth. With this, anything that comes in the way of attaining Samadhi with the help of yoga, such as diseases, gets ended automatically. In other words, the automatic destruction of the obstacles of yoga is the by-product of yoga. We should always remember that the main aim is attainment of Samadhi. This opinion on yoga is not merely a Buddhist exercise, any dream, propaganda or assurance and the use of yoga is very precise and real. I am assured that in the coming times, the world will shed its obstinacy and will adopt yoga as its own and there will develop a peaceful, healthy, sensitive and prosperous world and nation. Science and spirituality, material science and spiritual science will grow completely at the same rate. Religion of the soul and of the nation will arise from yoga. The world will move forward on the path of self-good and global good. People will shed the identities of caste, community, religion, region, language, communalism, etc and take up the identity of the country and of humanity. And India will emerge as the most superior country in all cultural, spiritual, economic and social aspects. Feelings of hatred, fear, desire, discontent, false intellect, anger, extravagance, etc arises from lack of peace. With the help of pranayam and meditation, when people’s minds become peaceful, then the fear, illusion, hatred, crime, and corruption prevalent in the society, nation and the world will also be removed and there will be regulated rise of devotion and fall of vices. The only solution to such material deterioration is exactly this material outlook. The end of the age of hatred, crime and sexual madness is only possible through the global establishment of yoga, otherwise no one can prevent the great destruction.

Kapal Bhati Pranayam

Detailed Procedure

‘Kapal’ means forehead and ‘Bhati’ means light. Hence, Kapal-Bhati refers to that exercise which makes the forehead luminous and lustrous. Kapal-Bhati Pranayama makes its Sadhak’s head luminous. This Pranayama is a little different from Bhastrika Pranayama. In Bhastrika Pranayama, Puraka and Recak are done with the same amount of force, where as in Kapal-Bhati more attention is to be given to the act of forceful Recak. In Kapal-Bhati, the Puraka is to be done with normal, usual force but the Recak has to be done with as much of force as is at your command. In doing so, the abdominal area, also makes inward and outward movements and considerable force is applied to the Manipura,Svadhisthana and Muladhara Chakra. This Pranayama should easily be done for five minutes. In short, breathe in normally and breathe out forcefully, so as to influence the organs of the abdominal area. Persons suffering from acute and chronic diseases must practice if for 15 minutes or more as per the capability.

Shiva Sankalpa (Vow) at the time of performing Kapal-Bhati:
While doing this Pranayama think that while exhaling you are throwing all the diseases out of your body. Individuals with mental aberrations like anger, greed, self-ego attachment etc. should develop a feeling of throwing out all the negative and injurious elements along with the air exhaled. In this way the feeling of getting rid of diseases while exhaling imparts a special benefit to the individual.

Duration:

Do this Pranayama at the start for a period of three minutes and gradually increase it to five minutes. Initially, if you feel tired in between, take rest for a while and resume. After practice of about two months, you will be able to perform this Pranayama for five minutes at a stretch without any fatigue. This is the total duration for which it should be done. In the beginning, you may feel a little pain in the back or abdomen. But this will disappear after some practice. So do not give up. People whose glands secrete lots of bile inside the body are termed as Pitta Prakriti. They should not do this Pranayama for more than 2 minutes during summer season.

Benefits:

Face become Lustrous and attractive.

Diseases related to Kapha like asthma, respiratory troubles, allergies, sinus, etc. are cured.

Diseases of heart, lungs and brain get cured.

Obesity, diabetes, flatulence, constipation, acidity and diseases pertaining to kidneys and prostate glands etc. are cured.

If done regularly for five minutes daily, it relieves constipation, Blood sugar becomes normal and weight in the abdominal region reduces considerably. Blockages in the arteries are also cleared.

Peace and stability of mind are achieved. No negative thoughts occur. Troubles like depression are cured.

Chakras are purified and ¡¡chakras from Muladhar-Chakra to Sahsrar Chakra are filled with pious Cosmic Energy.

Organs in the abdominal cavity viz. stomach, pancreas, liver, spleen, intestine, prostrate and kidney function more efficiently and develop immunity towards diseases. This is the best exercise; benefits accrued by this cannot be obtained by several other asanas. It strengthens the intestines and improves digestion.

Tips :

heart and high BP patients, and weak people do it slowly.

Welcome to IndiaYogaGuru

Yoga is an ancient philosophy of life as well as a system of exercises that encourages the union of mind, body, and spirit. In the words of Patanjali, author of the Yoga Sutras, "yoga is the ability to focus the mind on a single point without distraction." Yoga is a physical discipline; it uses the body and breathing to develop self-awareness and mental clarity.

There is simply no other discipline quite like yoga because it utilized the body, mind and spirit, all in one practice. Yoga is indeed a spiritual path that is based on ancient sacred philosophy, but one does not need to make an ethical decision when practicing yoga, rather finding your own path is wholly accepted.

Did you know that reprogramming your natural breathing technique would not only help in preventing these problems but also help in the “reversal” of several such harmful conditions? Yes, it’s not only possible but proven too. In fact leading cardiac experts are advocating the benefits of “correct” breathing to their patients.

Surprising as it is, almost none of us use the full capacity of our respiratory organs. This is aggravated by our sedentary lifestyles and leads to several complications popularly called - lifestyle disorders.

The first question that comes to mind is – “How can I alter my natural breathing process?” Well, astonishing as it may seem, it’s true. By training our body to breathe in a particular fashion, we re-program our involuntary system to adopt this new way of breathing.

This breathing technique is called the “Full Yogic breath” or simply Yoga breathing.

First, lie down on your back, relaxed, with hands and legs outstretched and eyes looking up at the roof. Gently close your eyes and relax.

Step 1: Abdominal breathing

Observe your natural breath. You will notice that as you inhale the abdomen rises and then falls with exhalation. Watch this for a few moments to check this flow. Now begin to deepen, lengthen and extend that movement. That is, while inhaling, let the abdomen rise to its limit and at exhalation let it fall completely. Keep the chest still during this entire process – only move the abdomen. Continue this for 20 breaths and then rest.

Step 2: Thoracic (chest) breathing

Again observe your normal breath, this time focusing your attention on the chest. You will notice the chest moving slightly up at inhalation and down with exhalation. Again observe this pattern for a few moments. Now again, begin to deepen, lengthen and extend that movement. This time, on inhalation expand and lift the rib cage, filling the lungs completely. Then on exhalation, let the lungs collapse fully, sinking to the limits. In this step, keep the abdomen still, moving only the chest. Do this for 20 breath cycles and then stop

Step 3: Full Yogic breathing

This combines the above 2 steps in the following way:

First inhale by filling the abdomen and then CONTINUE inhaling as you expand and fill the chest. Then exhale first from the chest as it empties and falls and then CONTINUE exhaling from the abdomen as it draws inwards completely. This is one round of the full yogic breath. Repeat this for 20 rounds.

Remember the pattern… Inhaling - abdomen then chest; Exhaling – chest then abdomen.

GOLDEN RULE:

All of the above steps should be done WITHOUT strain. The natural tendency is to heave with effort. The right way is to make it smooth and effortless. Go slow and easy.

Initially you will experience unevenness or bumps in this breathing process – as if there are 4 separate parts to the full yogic breath. This is natural considering the years we have spent breathing improperly.

Instead, try to picture this breath as a continuous wave like pattern – as if the breath moves up from the navel to the throat with every inhalation and then, down from the throat to the navel with each exhalation. It may take a few weeks of practice to perfect a “SMOOTH flowing pattern with MINIMUM effort and with MAXIMUM capacity.”

This is the desired effect!! Over time, the yoga way of breathing will come naturally to you.

And now for the all-important benefits…

The full yogic breath is the basic building block of the powerful yoga breathing techniques, also called ‘Pranayama’ in Sanskrit, which are known for their multifarious benefits.

But the tangible benefits of the full yogic breath are that it:

Releases acute and chronic muscular tensions around the heart and digestive organs.

Helps sufferers of respiratory illnesses such as asthma and emphysema to overcome the fear of shortness of breath. It actually increases lung capacity.

Encourages proper nervous stimulus to the cardio-vascular system

Dramatically reduces emotional and nervous anxiety

Improves detoxification through increased exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen

Amplifies the auto immune system by increased distribution of energy to the endocrine system

Calms the mind and integrates the mental / physical balance.

And the real icing is that it contributes to both vitality and relaxation through this single practice.

Peace is Possible Through YOGA : Swami Ramdev

Ashtaang Yoga Dharma has stood the test for every spirituality, humanism and science. It is only Ashtaang Yoga Dharma that can prevent the bloody struggle of this world. Ashtaang yoga beautifully inculcates right from the daily the conduct to meditation and trance (Samadhi) including the highest state of spirituality.

Every person of the world wants peace and happiness. All the nation of the world is unanimous in agreeing that there should be peace in the world. Every year one person who is dedicated to establish peace is awarded with Nobel Prize. However, everybody is confused in finding the way to establish peace.

Every person is meditating for this according to their r conscience but they could not find unanimous solution. Somebody says that when their will be only one particular religion on the whole earth then everybody will become happy. Some say that when everybody will come in the refuge of god there will be peace and pleasure in the world. In India there are numerous cults, sects and gurus who are of a opinion that peace and happiness is possible only by traversing on their indicated path. These sects and cults are not so generous, comprehensive, or complete that they can be encompassed by the entire humanity. Each and every of them have certain limitation.

There have been struggle and bloodshed to establish the supremacy of the so called religion but there has been no outcome. Discord has been increasing day by day. This means that the way people in the world are meditating has got significance but does not contain completeness, integrity and comprehensiveness. By following these prevalent cults, sects and so called religions a person feels some peace but by indulging in the so called philosophy a persons find him stuck in the false pretentions of superstition and malpractice and feels difficulty in emerging out of the situation. Is it possible to have rules, beliefs and dignity that could be followed by every person of the world? Which neither encroach upon the unity and integrity of any person or nation nor fulfils the personal interest of the person, which can be adopted by everybody and achieves full pleasure and peace and happiness in life? Such a path on which every person of the world can tread without any fear and enjoy peace, happiness and harmony.

This is the Ashtaang Yoga Path propagated by Maharishi Patanjali. This is not a religious cult or any sect but is a complete way of living. If the people of the world are really serious about establishing peace then the only way is Ashtaang Yoga Path propagated by Maharishi Patanjali. Through Ashtaang Yoga personal and social harmony is achieved, mental peace and soulful pleasure is felt. Ashtaang yoga stands perfect on all tests of religion, spirituality, humanity and science. Ashtaang yoga is the only way to prevent the bloody war in this world. Ashtaang yoga has incomparable unification of normal conduct of life as well as meditation and trance (Samadhi) and highest stage of spirituality.

The meaning of Yoga is self realisation (one‘s being). By developing ones internal powers one can visualise the ultimate absolute consciousness of the soul and splendid pleasure. In this Yogic process many Sumptuary-edict has been devised by the sages. Yoga develops our dead or inactive conscious state. Dead cells are regenerated and new cells are formed. Through subtle process of yoga our subtle nervous system is activated and therefore there is proper blood flow and new cells are generated and new powers are developed.

Yoga ensures regular and complete blood circulation and this is the principal of biology that contraction and relaxation increases the body power by which diseases are eliminated from the body. This process happens easily by Yoga asanas. By asanas and pranayaam the glands and muscles of the body are subjected to attraction and repulsion, contraction and relaxation and lax by which they become healthier.

By asanas and other yogic processes pancreas becomes active and produces proper quantity of insulin by which diabetes etc disease is treated. The health of the body is dependent on the health of digestive system.

The basic reason of all diseases is unhealthy digestive system. Even dangerous disease like heart ailments is also found due to be unhealthy digestive system. Yoga makes the digestive system completely healthy which ensures healthy light, and active body. One can get rid of dangerous ailments like heart diseases through yoga. Not only is this yoga is essential for physical and subtle body and even consciousness. Yoga achieves abstemiousness and inner consciousness, by practicing yam niyam (yogic rules regulation) and Ashtaang yoga and by eliminating the darkness of oblivion seer achieves the divine enlightenment, peaceful, state of enlightened self, graceful and enlightened soul and the ultimate.

We can achieve physical, mental and intellectual enlightment and achieve the perception of God and ultimate pleasure with the help of yoga. In the Indian philosophy yoga is a very important word. The dogma of Yoga has been elaborated extensively in our religious text right from self realisation and trance (Samadhi) to our behavioural fields. The propagator of Yoga philosophy Maharishi Patanjali has explained the meaning of yoga. be based on proof(pramana), or an opposite(viparyay), or an alternative(vikalpa), or forming sleep(nidra) or forming memory(smriti). When through these five operations the soul and the divine becomes one yoga is achieved. Yogeshwar Sri Krishna has used the word yoga in The Geeta for different meanings.

To create balance in situations which are conducive - non conducive, achievement – non achievement, success-failure, victory-defeat, that is Yoga. According to Jain saints yoga is the way by which perfection of soul and attainment of god is achieved.

There were much opposition from many quarters upon a slogan “health by yoga” for making a disease free and healthy society. There was a fatwa issued against yoga in Malaysia and it was tried to prove that yoga increases sexuality by mentioning some research in the University of British Columbia. Indian yoga makes the body healthy, restraint and cultured. And leads from affliction to penance. It is my belief.

According to recently published researches of Arthur Laurie Brotto of University of British Columbia, Michael Crichton of Southern California Centre of Sexual Health and Survivorship Medicine and Pamela Jacobson of the healing Century in Tustin it is being advertised that the yoga of east increases the sexual power. Level of arousal increases in ladies as well as libido and sexual power increases in males. My thought on this subject is that Indian yoga is a process which leads the breadth to physical organs and balances flow of prana (air) along

with meditation. By this the internal and external body becomes beautiful, shapely and powerful. At the same time through meditation mind and brain becomes balanced and conscious. In the west people equate exercise with yoga. Exercise only increases body power.

To keep the balance the collection spiritual power is needed, which is not obtained through exercise. As a result the direction of physical power may be negative. By invoking desires and restrictions manpower can be directed towards destruction, whereas the very basis of Indian yoga is the development of spiritual power by yogic methods. Yoga restrains the mischievous actions of mind and brings in concentration, which increases the positive feelings and a person using the proper direction of work does positive work for nation and society by using its best capacity. Indian yoga has helped the nations of the world from treading the path of destructions.

My aim is to rise above religion and sect and make the whole human race healthy both mentally and physically so that the world may become unified in the Indian philosophy of “sarvebhavantu sukhina”

Considerations of Tantra Yoga

During the various techniques of tantra yoga, the sexual energy is awakened and amplified to a great extent. It is important to preserve this energy in our aura, so that we could use it in superior ways instead of wasting it.

It is known that in Tantra yoga the pleasure, be it however intense, must be entirely controlled, and therefore the ejaculation (or the explosive orgasm) must be avoided. However, especially nowadays, in the West, there are beginners who still mix the two ways of experiencing the sexuality; also there sometimes may occur accidental (involuntary) losses of control at some beginners. For all these reasons, it is said that at least one hour after every Tantric technique, all sexual manifestations (masturbation included) are prohibited; this has the object of avoiding any risk of having the energy lost, allowing it to be integrally used for higher goals.

The Hands

The TANTRIKA-s (Tantric adepts) are especially careful concerning the care of the hands, since they are the main "instruments" for touching, and caressing, and the Tantric techniques often involve specific use of the hands, fingers, or nails. Some texts advise the cutting of the nails of the thumb, and index (especially of the right hand), so that they are short, and these two fingers present a soft, round tip (for avoiding any scratching, or wounding), while the other fingers should have rather long nails, but very clean and manicured. It is deemed that long nails conduct better the etheric energy of the hands, thus enhancing the intensity of the touch, stroke, and massage. Many TANTRIKA-s can be recognised after the special way in which their nails are manicured.

The Sexual Organs

All Tantric texts mention the care, and cleanness of the genital organs, and area, as being very important, for both hygienic, and aesthetic reasons. Moreover, the cleanness of the sexual organs is said to enhance their sensitivity, thing that will be noted with the practise of the perception techniques.

For women, it is often recommended that the pubic hair should be periodically shaved or depilated with wax entirely, so that the sensitivity is enhanced, and the sensuous feelings and excitability are amplified a lot.

Light

"Tantra Yoga loathes the darkness", is a traditional saying; therefore all the Tantric techniques shall be performed with some form of light, never in darkness. The Tantric techniques are structured for stimulating all the senses, including the visual one; moreover, the darkness makes possible the manifestation of certain uncontrollable psychic energies, which should be avoided by spiritual probationers. Amongst the recommendations, Tantra Yoga prefers the natural light (candle-light, for an instance), and sometimes recommends the use of coloured lights; the red light is said to stimulate the male sexuality (and the root-CHAKRA), while the violet light is highly recommended for enhancing the female sexuality (opening the throat-CHAKRA), and therefore they shall be used according to the circumstances.

Food

Tantra Yoga emphasizes the importance of a natural diet, without toxic products, and as much as possible without those food that are usually forbidden to the high classes of the Indian society (meat, alcohol, fish, tobacco, coffee, drugs, etc.). Tantra Yoga states that all the senses must be stimulated to the highest extent, but with a perfect mastery; this is also a very personal matter.

The Understanding and the Abnegation

Tantra Yoga forbids those deeds by which the elementary rights of another human being are denied. Amongst others, the Tantric Masters will never try to persuade at all cost outsiders to perform special Tantric techniques. The understanding must come from inside, and the approaching of the Tantric way must be done with the participation of one's entire being, and with total self-offering.

The Meaning of Love

In most of the languages, and especially the Germanic ones, the word "amour" - love is very hard to define. Tantra Yoga deems love as a gradual expansion, by which, starting from the finite, one reaches the infinite; this definition should be meditated upon, for making its meaning clear. Love also means here the total empathic identification with the innermost being of the other, as part integrated in the harmony of the macrocosmic Infinite.

The Polarity of the Energy

Tantra Yoga is pre-eminently a science of the polarity; the man and the woman are here the personification of the two fundamental cosmic poles: SHIVA - the Male consciousness, and SHAKTI - the Female manifestation. Therefore it is particularly important to remind a few elements concerning the polarity of the energy. Any energy of the manifestation (and therefore any thing, being, phenomenon, state) is composed of two distinct poles: the solar one (male, active, emissive, +, YANG), and the lunar one (female, passive, receptive, -, YIN). The condition of harmony, and therefore the aim of any method of spiritual development - Tantra Yoga included - is to reach a perfect balance of these two poles. The traditional teachings state that the unbalance of these two energies (solar (+), and lunar (-)), in whatever sense, creates the condition of disharmony that entails disturbance, disease, pain, limitation, and unhappiness. Their balance, on the other hand, creates a condition of perfect harmony, which is the springboard for the higher spiritual accomplishments. Here are some practical examples concerning the predominance of the two polarities in the manifested world:

the left side of the body, generally, is of lunar (-, YIN) polarity, while the right side of the body is generally of solar (+, YANG) polarity.

Women are generally predominantly charged with lunar (-, YIN) energy, while men are (or should be) prevalently charged with solar (+, YANG) energy.

Some food are charged prevalently with YIN (-, lunar) energy, while others are predominantly YANG (+, solar). This shows one of the several ways of balancing the YIN/YANG energies of the being, which is particularly accessible for the Westerners.

Tantra Yoga teaches that various other conditions of the environment (such as: cold/warmth, light/darkness, colours, etc.), as well as of the personal behaviour may entail a YIN (-, lunar), or YANG (+, solar) predominance.

The problem of the polarity of the energy is complicated by the fact that there can be found a related kind of polarity, between the telluric (or Earth's) energy, and the cosmic one; this polarity is somehow different of the left/right, +/- polarity mentioned above. However, it is deemed symbolically that the telluric energy is also predominantly feminine, -, while the cosmic energy is male, +, although these two forms of energy may each have their solar/lunar (YIN/YANG) polarity.

In Tantra Yoga there are data concerning the polarity of the energy between a man, and a woman during the sexual union, in relation with the various "bodies", or ranges of frequency of the being. Since we haven't yet made a methodical study of this topic (of the various bodies), we'll mention these information briefly for the time being.

Thus, at the level of the physical body (called in YOGA: ANNAMAYAKOSHA) the man is predominantly +, and the woman predominantly -. At the level of the etheric body (PRANAMAYAKOSHA), the woman is +, and the man -. On the astral plane (MANOMAYAKOSHA), the man is again +, and the woman -, while at the level of the mental body (VIJNANAMAYAKOSHA) the woman is solar, and the man is lunar. Meditating upon the various meanings of the solar/lunar polarity, deeper understanding of these brief statements will occur.

Precautions during Yoga

Yogic exercises are very important for life. They include Yogasana, pranayam etc. Pranayam can cure several diseases but it is necessary to understand pranayam before practicing it. Pranayam is made with the combination of two words, Prana + Ayam. Prana means life energy and Ayam means scope. Therefore, pranayam means the activity that increases the scope of life energy.

It has four stages:

Poorak – filling in air

Kumbhak – stopping air inside

Rechak – throwing out air

Bahya Kumbhak – stopping air outside

There are certain rules for practicing pranayam. If pranayam is being practiced to overcome any disease then the following precautions should be kept in mind otherwise it could be harmful.

Rules:

Air is extremely pure in morning time. Therefore, this time is recommended for practicing pranayam.

Practice it on empty stomach. Drink glassful cold or lukewarm water depending on weather.

Do not practice it when sunlight is bright. There are chances of getting Vayu, pitta or kapha doshas during this time.

Wear loose clothes while practicing it.

Sit on a woolen mat or cotton mattress and practice pranayam in some meditative pose.

Keep the eyes and mouth closed while practicing pranayam. Breathe in and breathe out through nose.

Increase the duration of Poorak, Rechak, and Bahya Kumbhak etc. gradually.

Pranayam can be done in the evening also (sunset time).

Pranayam should not be done in case of fever, loose motions, tuberculosis, chest pain, high blood pressure and extreme weakness.

Finish daily chores before doing pranayam.

Do not take solid food or cold water etc. till 30 minutes after practicing pranayam.

Do not practice pranayam in case of swelling in stomach or kidney or wound, which moves those organs. Otherwise it could cause pain.

Practice Pranayam in open air

Pranayam is beneficial for the health, but it should be practiced in open air instead of closed room. Practicing pranayam in closed room is not that beneficial as in open air. Oxygen is available in sufficient quantity outside. The benefits obtained from practice of pranayam and asana in open air increases as oxygen is obtained in more quantity. If Yogasana and pranayam are practiced in garden, near plants and greenery then the benefits increase to a great extent.

Practice Yog to reduce weight

Yog reduces weight. It increases internal strength and rejuvenates the body. Yog is a sure shot for obesity.

Maintain regular daily routine while practicing Yog and do it with full faith.

Brahmari and Nadishodhan reduce obesity. Simple Bhastrika and simple Kapalbhati improve metabolism and reduce fat, therefore overweight people should practice it.

People suffering from over work and stress should practice Yognidra daily for ten minutes. It is the best remedy. It gives miraculous benefits if done before meals.

Meditation practiced for 10 to 20 minutes daily helps in maintaining mental and emotional balance. Stress, disappointment and sadness increase weight.

People experiencing disappointment or distress, and those habituated to overeating should follow the path of karma i.e., work.

Obese people should develop the habit of eating nutritious food – chapatti made with whole wheat, seasonal fruits, vegetables, soups, salad etc. in sufficient quantity.

Food should be chewed properly. Maintain fixed time for meals. There should be an interval of five to six hours between two meals.

Do not take sweets, sugar, fat, spices, milk and milk products, products made with refined flour, fried food, cold drinks etc. in excess quantity.

Practice the following asana along with the above mentioned precautions, Pavanmuktasana, Vajrasana, Paschimottasana, Vakrasana, Trikonasana, Bhujangasana, Tadasana, Dhanurasana, Naukasana and Surya Namaskara. Repeat each asana five to seven times but Trikonasana is the best asana out of all.

Yoga practice for women

Yoga practice is necessary for women also Today, every woman requires Yog practice. A woman undergoes lot of physical and mental changes during her lifetime. Yog can prove very beneficial in overcoming the problems undergone during these changes. It also proves beneficial in providing good physical and mental health to the woman.

From childhood to adolescence

Girls undergo mental and physical changes during adolescence. This period of sudden changes is ideal for beginning the practice of Yog and pranayam. Yog practice is like any other sport during childhood and the child does different types of asana knowingly and unknowingly. But, the child understands the meaning of Yog only when he grows up. Yog and pranayam prove beneficial in maintaining the strength of girls during menstrual cycle. During this age, asana should be practiced that strengthen emotional stability, control mood swings and regulate menstrual cycle. Yog proves even more beneficial during the growing up stage, as it strengthens the muscles and balances the hormones.

Yog practice and pregnancy

Physical and mental health should be improved during and after pregnancy. Yog improves the health of the woman during this period and also helps in overcoming labor pain and post pregnancy related problems.

Benefits of Yog during pregnancy

Yog can be adopted depending on the changing needs and abilities of the body. It strengthens the muscles of the uterus, supports the spine, and helps in tolerating the excess pressure of back.

Yog makes the body capable of tolerating many physical problems arising during pregnancy.

Yog practice after delivery increases oxygen consumption and thereby increases breast milk.

Practicing light yogic exercises after one or two months of delivery strengthens all the fibers and increases breast milk.

Old age and menopause

Yog practice is especially beneficial during old age and menopause. Many physical changes and mental problems are seen between the age of 45 and 55 years due to hormonal changes. The symptoms include – excessive perspiration, high blood pressure, chest related

problems, headache, obesity and insomnia. The disease fighting capacity also reduces. The chances of infection in the body also increases, especially urine infection. During this age, problems like diabetes, bone degeneration, anger, stress, restlessness, lack of will power,

lack of self-confidence and dissatisfaction arise in mind. Regular Yog practice helps in maintaining mental, physical and emotional health. Padottasana, Suptavajrasana, Paschimottasana are beneficial in controlling weight, maintaining hormonal balance during menopause.

Yog practice during old age

Both men and women have to face lot of physical challenges between middle age and old age. This is true especially for women. The common problems are bone degeneration, poor metabolism, improper blood circulation and poor mental abilities. During this stage, Yog practice helps in controlling blood circulation and maintains the health of the nervous system, and thereby keeps the body healthy and fit. Yog controls both physical and mental health during this period.

Yog removes side effects

Yog can overcome the problems faced by cancer patients after radiotherapy and chemotherapy. It improves the disease fighting capacity. Patients also improve their mental health. Central Council for Research Yog (New Delhi) has found in this study that Yog is indeed a blessing for human life.

Practice Yog as per physical capacity

Yog practice is useful for the body but it should be done depending on one’s physical capacity. It has a good impact. Which asana should be practiced for how much time is best decided by a Yog teacher? Take the advice of a Yog teacher and follow the precautions before beginning the Yog practice.

Neti is also important

Asana and pranayam are considered to be incomplete without netikriya. The objective of Yog is to establish physical and mental strength, which keeps the soul, mind and body healthy and cheerful. Yog is considered to be the basis of spiritual achievements. But, these achievements are obtained only through the body only. It is necessary to keep the body active and disease free. Purification is necessary and that too internal purification. Shatkarma plays an important role in this case. Patanjali Yogpeeth has excellent Shatkarma treatment facilities. Here patients are reaping health benefits and curing incurable diseases. People are bene fitting from natural cure at Yog Gram.

This acidic content pollutes the blood. The polluted material gets stuck in the joints when windy element increases in the body, this causes pain and stiffness in the body. The poisonous content circulates in the whole body due to blood impurities and also increases body temperature.

There is also swelling in the joints. The disease spreads in all the body joints and the patient is unable to sit, walk, stand and do the daily routine activities. This disease is caused only due to blood impurities. The reasons for joint pain are same as those for respiratory problems. In this case the oxalic acid of acidic element is produced in higher quantity which leads to swelling in joints, pain and stiffness. This is the main reason for this disease.

Natural cure:

Take Triphala churna daily and clear the stomach. Take spoonful Triphala churna with lukewarm water at bedtime for smooth bowel movement. Put 100 gm each of magnesium salt and table salt

in hot water in the bathing tub. Sleep in the bathtub for 30 minutes and massage the whole body and joints with a thick towel. Place a cold wet towel on the head until the patient is in the bath tub. Do not pour hot water on head. If the patient feels hot later then give bath with cold water and if the patient feels cold then give bath with hot water. Wipe the body with dry towel and go inside the room. Let the patient sleep for 30 to 60 minutes. Some joint exercises should be done before going to sleep in order to remove all the accumulations in joints. If bathtub is not available, then give sauna bath for ten minutes or put the feet in hot water for ten minutes.

This should be followed by 30 minutes of sunbath and massage the body under sun with some ayurvedic medicinal oil. Alternately, pour coconut oil in a red coloured bottle and place it under sun for 20-25 days. This oil is effective in joint pain. When the body becomes hot under sun, then do some joint exercises. Excellent natural therapy facility is available at Yog Gram of Patanjali Yogpeeth.

Yogic cure:

Yogic cure is also a natural therapy; the patient can practice Kunjal, Jalneti and Sutraneti and purify his body.

The patient should begin the practice of Yogasana when the joint pain and swelling is relieved. Yogasana like Surya Namaskar, Katichakrasana, Vajrasana, Makarasana, and Pavanmuktasana should be practiced for special benefit.

Yognidra should be practiced for 30 minutes daily. This will relax the body and give relief.

Give three minutes hot fomentation followed by two minutes cold fomentation in case of pain and swelling in knees, wrist, elbow and shoulders. Massage the joints nicely and do some joint exercises.

Diet and regimen:

The disease should be controlled with dietary restrictions. The patient does not get sufficient health benefit unless proper diet is taken. The food should contain vitamin A and D in sufficient quantities, but avoid tomato, spinach vegetable or its juice because they contain oxalic acid.

Take raw vegetable juice especially carrot, cucumber, round gourd, gourd, ginger and fruit juices like orange, sweet lime, apple, pomegranate, grapes etc. this will reduce joint pain, swelling and stiffness within few days.

Use garlic and ginger in good quantities. Mix half spoon honey in spoonful garlic juice and take twice daily to overcome windy problem. Add it in cooked

vegetables also.

Many times, the disease gets aggravated with the practice of Yog because Yog removes the disease from the body; it does not just suppress the disease.

There is no need to get panicky. Reduce the treatment or stop it for two to three days. Follow the diet regularly.

Vaidya Shravan Kumar Tripathi

Patanjali Yogpeeth, Haridwar

Kapal Bhati Pranayam : Swami Ramdev

Swamiji says "dharti ki sanjivini hai kapal-bhati pranayam" and that it "cures all diseases of world".

Just by devoting about twenty minutes daily for one month, any woman can improve her natural charms.

Every woman in this world wishes to remain young and beautiful for ever. And each one tries to improve her beauty through natural as well as artificial methods. Even the middle aged women keep trying to regain their youth and beauty.

The Indian system of Yoga prescribes eight Aasans or Yogic postures which if practised daily can bestow a well balanced physique. Although this course is for one month, but if these exercises are performed regularly one can remain young for a longer period of one’s life. These Aasans can also prove to be a boon for those ladies whose skin has started to wrinkle, black circles have appeared around the eyes and the stomach has become flabby.

FOR A SMOOTH & SOFT SKIN

Through the following Aasan the facial skin becomes soft, wrinkle free, and starts glowing with radiance. The black circles under the eyes vanish and the cheeks become pink. The face is filled with a magnetic attraction.

Aasan

Stand straight and move your feet apart, about one foot. First cover your face with your palms and breathe fast and deep, ten times. Next rub the face, the eyes, the forehead with your fingers and breathe fast ten times. By this exercise the face will start glowing with an attraction. After this rub the skin of the whole face, starting from the chin to the fore-head. Keep breathing deeply. By this exercise the wrinkles on the face shall vanish and it shall acquire a healthy look.

FOR A LONG SHAPELY NECK

By performing the following Aasan a corpulent neck can be given a beautiful shape and all the wrinkles on it shall disappear.

Aasan

Place your feet firmly on the ground. Keep your body erect and without moving your shoulders try to turn your neck to the left as much as you can. Then move the neck to the right. Repeat this exercise ten times.

Next turn the neck to the right with a jerk ten times & then to the left, also ten times. After this turn your face up and your head backwards and then bend it forwards, trying to touch the chest with your chin. Repeat this exercise three times.

Through these exercises your neck shall become rid of extra fat and will become shapely.

FOR PROMINENT & WELL SHAPED BREASTS

Well formed breasts add to the beauty of a woman. Through this exercise the breasts can be moulded into an attractive shape.

Aasan

Stand straight and move your feet about one foot apart. Place your hands on your waist and inhale as deeply as you can and then exhale forcefully. Repeat this breathing exercise at least sixty times.

By performing this exercise regularly, within a week the breasts start becoming prominent and gain a well moulded shape.

FOR A FLAT, FAT FREE STOMACH

Through this exercise the extra fat of the stomach gets dissolved. Women who have gained weight due to over-eating and pregnancy can try these exercises.

Aasan

Stand straight with the feet placed about one foot apart. Then bend forward and touch your toes with your fingertips, without bending your knees. You may not succeed in performing this exercise in the first attempt but try to bend as much as you can and in a few days you shall be able to touch your toes. One should remember not to bend the knees.

When you succeed in performing this exercise, next try to touch your left toe with your right hand & your right toe with the left hand without bending the knees. After you are able to perform the second exercise as well, try to bend forward so as to touch the floor with the palms of your hands.

Through this exercise all fat around the stomach region disappears.

FOR A SLIM AND CURVED WAIST

Until the waist of a woman is slim & free from excess fat, all her beauty seems to be in vain. Through this Aasan the waist can be given an attractive shape.

Aasan

Place the feet about one foot apart and spread the hands sideways in the level of the shoulders, parallel to the ground. Then turn your upper torso to the left from your waist upwards, so that you can easily look behind. The feet should remain firmly on the ground. Then come back to the starting position and turn to your right. Repeat ten times.

In the next step turn to your left with a jerk and then to your right. Repeat twenty times.

Then place the hands on the waist and bend forwards so that your face touches your thighs. Repeat twenty times.

Thus by performing these exercises, your waist shall become free of all excess fat and will become beautiful & shapely.

FOR WELL PROPORTIONED THIGHS

The thighs should neither be too fat and nor should they be too slim. By this exercise the thighs, gain a well proportioned shape.

Aasan

Stand straight and spread your hands forward parallel to the ground. Then bend your knees and go into a posture as if you are sitting on a chair. Your thighs should be parallel to the ground and the back should be erect. Try to remain in this position for 3 minutes. This posture is similar to "Horse Trance" which is also practised by the martial arts experts.

After performing this exercise for a few days, carry it out eight to ten times daily. Through this exercise your thighs shall get rid of excess fat and will gain a well proportioned shape.

FOR A PEACEFUL, TENSION FREE MIND

This is a very important but simple exercise which the texts on Yoga have called the Shavasan.

Aasan

Lie down on the floor without moving any limb. Leave your body loose and close your eyes. Then try to free the mind of all thoughts, worries and tensions.

This Aasan should be performed for fifteen minutes daily. One shall attain peace of mind and tranquility through it.

By performing all the Aasans one not only gains a beautiful attractive face but also a well balanced physique.

Day by Day, O Dear Lord! Three things I pray.

To see Thee more clearly, Love Thee more dearly, and Follow Thee more nearly.

Day by day O Dear Lord! These three things I pray.
