How good is that? By the way, thats Noel Fielding of the Mighy Boosh in the video in case you thought you were going mad :) Has really excited me about their new album which is due for release on the 8th of June this year and is entitled “West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum”.

Kasabian also play the marquee in Cork later on this year. I’m much more likely to attend having heard this track.

MUZU TV have responded to the dispute over payments between YouTube and the PRS by issueing the following press release:

“It’s not the music industry’s fault that YouTube’s business model doesn’t stack up. The model doesn’t support paying the current PRS rates let alone the payment to artists, because they cannot command high enough advertising rates. Because sites like YouTube are built off the back of user generated content, and have a storied past of allowing ‘illegal’ content to be viewed – brands are resistant to pay premium advertising rates. MUZU.TV (www.muzu.tv) was purpose built for the music industry with a viable model that protects the CPM by its 100% focus on premium music content. While the industry needs to look at the minimum stream rates to make new business models viable and sustainable it should not let YouTube hold it to ransom.”

Even though MUZU sometimes dont have the videos that you are looking for, the quality of both the sound and picture is noticeably better. Its also nice to see your search return only videos and not having it mixed in with some of the spammy user uploaded content.

I have to say that the album “ritual” only joined my own collection on seeing it in so many peoples lists for their top albums of 2008 but boy is it good. He beat of competition from the likes of Mick Flannery, Lisa Hannigan, Fight Like Apes (I thought they’d win) and of course the surprise nomination, The Script. I’ve nothing against The Script myself but I really dont see them fitting the picture here.

Its been a couple of years since the last album, “Show Your Bones” from the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s and given the way their third studio album “it’s Blitz” is shaping up, its been worth the wait. I’m not often to take to a rock/indie/alternative band with female vocals (with the exception of maybe CSS and a few others) but Karen O’s voice has something special about it.
