Do you know how to use Pinterest for business? I admit – I had been using Pinterest – but was only using it halfheartedly for business until last month. I checked my stats yesterday – and the amount of traffic I received from Pinterest grew by 300% in just the last few weeks!

Yes – that’s right. A 300% increase in free traffic from Pinterest in just a few weeks.

Here are some of the things I’ve been doing:

I’m making an effort to pin everyday; some in the afternoon and some at night

Pinning content that I know people will be interested in – from my site as well as from other sites

I’m blending the content I pin on Pinterest with the other social media sites I use

I made sure it was easy for people to find me – and follow me on Pinteres

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! I put all of the tips in this 7 day ecourse. It’s free to sign up. You’ll get a new email with tips - and examples on how to use them – for 7 days.

Need some energy? Or some new ideas?

The answer to all of these things is the same: Switch Your View!

You’ll be surprised at what a new viewpoint can do for you.

Last week, I made a slight change to some furniture. I am now, literally, looking in a new direction while I work. The effect has been awesome! I’ve got more done in this past week than I have in a long time, and I really do think it all comes down to my new “viewpoint!”

Try it yourself and see what happens! Rearrange your office furniture. Or, if you have some outdoor space and nice weather, try working outside. If you feel like you are slacking while at home, try going to the local library or some other place that has free wifi and working there.

Whatever you can do, try it this week and see if you get some extra energy out of that small change!

If you haven’t heard of KickStarter, it is a crowdfunding website where you can submit an idea for a creative project, and other people can donate to it (aka “fund” it.)

In this episode, I’m interviewing Jon Fawcett. He has an amazing story – and some very good tips. His Kickstarter project (The Une Bobine) is still in the funding period, but he and his team, at Fawcett Design, have already raised over $120,000. Yeah. Over ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS! (the project is also a finalist for The William McShane Fund; learn more and vote here!)

How awesome is that?

Some tips you’ll hear on this episode: Schedule your project to start the funding period a couple of weeks after your approval, giving you time to get some press releases out and get a jump start on your marketing.

(need some help with press releases? try these pre-written ones!)

Okay – enough small talk…. Listen to the podcast!

Getting a website or blog up and running can be a bit of a daunting process – especially for a first timer! Trust me, I know – because this is the first site I’ve ever made (back in 2007) and I remember wondering what I was getting myself into back then! haha

And even if you’ve made a site once or twice, there are still things to consider with each new site you create – such as if you want a static front page or a blog front page. Do you want a graphic header or simple text? And what about sidebars? Left? Right? Both?

What if you decide to build it yourself? (If you do I recommend WordPress), and if you decide on WordPress, what theme should you use?

If you need graphics, which program should you use?

What if you hire someone? What is the protocol to that?

Well, don’t worry, because I have some answers for you in my workbook, Getting Your Site Up & Running, which is part of my Workbook Club!

One of the most important parts of having a business is knowing who your target market is. These are the people who are the most interested in your products and services. Once you know who your target market is, everything pretty much falls into place.

For example, I reach all types of people with my site, but I am going after a very specific type of person. I am marketing to women who are interested in starting and growing their own home business. And while I am glad to have women of all age brackets reading my site, I am targeting women who are hip and modern, specifically those in their 20s and 30s.

That idea of who I wanted to reach played into every part of my site. I chose the name IndieBizChicks because I wanted to reach independent women with home businesses. I did not start the Corporate Mature Women Site for growing an Inc 500 business.

I chose bright pink and black, because it looks fresh, energetic, and modern. The exact type of woman I’m reaching out to.

See what I mean? Your target market is soooo important!

Also import? your USP – this is your unique selling point.

Another example: There are a lot of sites out there that give out business information. So, what makes my site unique? Well, I tell it like it is, in easy to understand language. I provide real life examples that you can easily understand, and sometimes, I throw in a few swear words.

So, that, in a nutshell is my USP.

Now, it’s time to figure out your target market and your USP!

And I have just the workbook to help you .. and wouldn’t you know, it’s called Know Your Target Market, and it’s part of The IndieBizChicks.com Workbook Club.

When looking at a list of things you need to do – whether it’s a list of things for your business or chores around the house, a long to-do list can seem a little overwhelming. And sometimes, it can seem A LOT overwhelming! That feeling of being overwhelmed can cause you to dive head first into the land of Procrastination. (nothing ever gets done when you do that!)

Instead of focusing on the big list – and wondering how you’re going to get it all done, focus on fifteen minutes.

Pick one item on your to-do list, set a timer for fifteen minutes and work on it. Maybe it’s answering email, writing a blog post, or cleaning out the junk drawer in the kitchen. Whatever it is, only focus on that one thing for that fifteen minutes.

If you get done before the fifteen minutes are up, great. Pick another task and keep working.

If you run out of time, that’s okay. You can stop and pick up where you left off later, or you can keep going and finish it.

Chances are, that little fifteen minute push will give you enough motivation to finish the task.

So, long Procrastination!
