Indie Couture’s experience seeing The Paxtons at Free Candy was nonetheless chill brilliance according to our media intern Tahir McKenzie. With the band’s material, giving you that early most ominous 90′s conscience flow; nothing was to be done but get lost in the moment. Dave & Chris’ style of performance has this fervor not seen since a Talib & Q-tip set which makes the crowd almost part of the band itself, & we really felt that. One hit that really stuck out that night “Stay in Love” most definitely peaked the aura of Free Candy. Delivery was key when most necessary, and they came with it. ith influences ranging from their native which even pioneered hip-hop Chicago, even English literacy they’re a must see and hear. Nicki Minaj Spits Freestyle, Before the “Barbie” Era!

Remember the era when hip hop artists were more interested in spitting a hot 16, then calling their fans Barbie and Ken Dolls? Well I never knew that Nicki Minaj was one of those artists. The video above shows her true talent, being a rapper! I don’t know where this Barbie persona originated but I wish she would go back to her gritty hip hop roots she acquired growing up in Queens. I’d appreciate her more as an artist! What do you think about the video? Do you prefer “street” Nicki or the “Barbie”?

Music: Beyonce Performs ‘Countdown’ on Late Night w/ Jimmy Fallon

Last night, Beyonce performed her single ‘Countdown’ with the Roots Crew on Late Night Jimmy Fallon. She still goes hard pregnant and all, speaking of which is it me or does her baby bump randomly appear and disappear on a daily basis? Beyonce was wearing a tight fitting LBD (Little Black Dress) with no signs of the large baby bump she was sporting at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion show just a few days ago in New York City. If you missed the performance we have the video below.

Beyonce pays homage to New Edition, Jackson 5 and I think even the 5 Heartbeats with the premiere of her new video for “Love on Top”, the 5th single from her platinum selling album “4″. This is her second video released in the past few weeks. I guess Beyonce was trying to get them all done before that baby bump got any bigger!

INDIE COUTURE MEDIA, publisher of Indie Couture Magazine a fresh look on emerging designers, artists, musicians, photographers and more, is expanding and looking for hard-working, motivated, outgoing, independent college students to fill multiple positions. This unique internship opportunity will provide you the chance to work in the many facets of our publishing company.

We are currently looking for interns in New York City only:

You’ll be responsible for managing our social networking tools, like our blog, Facebook, and Twitter, as well as helping with the development of content from writing to editing and fact checking. You’ll also have the chance to work on your marketing and PR skills as you develop long-term relationships with a variety of businesses in your area to create partnership and collaborations. Assistants will be our on-the-ground networkers, and the face of the company, spreading the Indie Couture Media brand. The assistant will also have the chance to attend various fashion-related city events, as well as taking on the challenge of planning an event yourself.

We are looking for applicants who are already looped into the local fashion, music and art scene, strong writers with a lot of tech savvy, good time management skills, great organization, and attention to detail, and a lot of enthusiasm. Most importantly, applicants should be passionate about fashion, music, style and discovering new emerging talents! Applicants should be comfortable with online and in-person social networking. The assistant will work over the course of 6 months for 10-12 hours a week on their own time and from home, but will be in constant contact with the corporate office, and will on occasion be working one-on-one with out editors.

Responsibilites:
-Tweet daily
-Blog 4-6 times a week
-Create a video once a month
-Push info out via social networking
-Network—you are our on-the-ground, face of the company, go to person!
-Set up meetings with local marketing and PR firms to create relationships for the company and partnerships for their clients
-Plan one event
_Take photographs (must own a DSLR Camera)
-Assist editors with writing, fact checking, editing, and any other tasks that come up during production
-Finding new city-specific fashion and style trends, and writing about it
-New York City specific research projects
-Fashion outreach-—hand out stickers, business cards, and put a name to the face
-Viral marketing on campus

Requirements:
-Check in via phone daily to update on progress
-Weekly email reports

-Experience in publishing, marketing, new media, networking, and PR
