Hello Indie Shuffle, I haven't written in a long time, but I do still exist. My brain still works, so, I can still write. I listen to music, of course, which means I've obviously stumbled on lots of good music that should be on the blog. There's a lot for me to catch you up on. But, you see, I drifted off into the ether somewhere, perhaps it was a land called "Me no bloggy music Land." It's just west of Germany, but I won't bore you with those details.

Anyways, on my journey I found this beautiful remix by kryptogram. The Serbian has offered Night Tapes' song a fabulous, synth-laden skip -- and my word is it skippy.

It's been danced to, in my underwear, often. It's been with me in good moments, and some bad ones too, and now it has a home here on Indie Shuffle.

Geniet ervan allemaal!

What's so good?

Joji frankensteins his own heart and identity on “Last of a Dying Breed.” There’s a sense of self-destruction and self-release running through the track. It plays like a cry for help wrapped in acceptance, as though the damage has already been done and all that’s left is surrender.

Joji emerged alongside the strange, rapid evolution of internet culture, and “Last of a Dying Breed” carries the weight of someone trying to stay emotionally intact while the world speeds up around them. There’s something almost overwhelming about how much Joji gives of himself here. And by the end of it, all I wanted to do was hold him for a second and say thank you.

I didn’t expect trashlagoon’s “Feel” to land the way it did. It starts off unassuming, almost like background noise, and then somewhere along the line it just… clicks.

There’s a warmth to it that feels easy to sit in. Nothing is trying too hard, nothing is overexplained. It just moves at its own pace, and if you’re in the right headspace, it pulls you along without asking.

I’ve found myself going back to it more than I thought I would. It’s a quiet one, but it sticks.

Modern Diet invites us to a reading of their latest novel, "Maria," and I am so excited to get an autograph.

Sometimes you take a book off the shelf, open up the pages, and read whatever line catches your eye, and you are sucked in forever. "Maria" by Modern Diet is the sound of modern literature ; it's quirky, it's strange, it's heartfelt, and it is wildly creative. Modern Diet plays with the typography of its story and sound the way a kid plays with unmatched Legos.

"Maria" is intimate and contains so many little corners of magic.

What's so good?

Okay, the original version of this song by Radiohead one of my favorite of all time. And by no coincidence, Kid A, the album it opens, is also one of my favorite albums of all time.

I actually wasn't expecting this remix when it came on - I was just playing Spotify's Release Radar in the background. But holy shit, once it kicked in, I felt I had an obligation to rush over and blog it.

Gigamesh has a really cool backstory about this song, which you can read here .

I’ve recently been stuck (happily) in a Nuage and Ishome rabbit hole, so it comes as no surprise that Sunrom’s “I Just Try” is currently catching my ears and heart. While most of my recent listening has been instrumental, a unique feature of Sunrom’s latest EP, Everlight, is that each track is marked by the Parisian artist’s vocals.

“I Just Try” is emotive from the outset, and as the track unfolds, the listener’s emotional pull deepens and intensifies. It’s a song that accompanies you on a journey, and it is equally a journey in and of itself.

"Opals" is a bit less vocal-focused and a bit more groove-focused. It's still recognizably Slowdaze, but there are major hints of acts like Jungle and Maribou State in there as well. The slow build up hits all the right notes and culminates wonderfully. Pretty sure it's going to be an easy-pleaser for most indie rock fans.

With "A Perfect Storm," those waters are getting restless. "A Perfect Storm" flows and curves around itself in the wind of its aforementioned name; it builds and builds until the wave can't hold anymore and cracks under the pressure.

And boy oh boy does it manage to get the groove going along the way.

About 2 minutes into the song I definitely found myself thinking: "this has major The Whitest Boy Alive vibes." They're one of my favorite bands, with jams upon jams upon jams. Perhaps that means Aussie-based Glass Fountain are also about to become one of my favorites?

"3Dhearth" is a warm fire in the center of a house, but also a cool breeze on a summer's day, it is both comforting and refreshing at the same time - a coffee in the mist and a slow beer at the local quiet tavern. The feelings are floaty and expressive, the sound bumpy and meditative at the same time. "3Dhearth" is peak ambience, it's not trying to be anything special, and yet through not trying, it succeeds in being more than special. It is comfort in audio form.

I only recently realised that "Melodic House" is one of my favorite genres. I never really knew exactly how to categorize an act like RUFUS DU SOL, but it turns out that's the genre to use.

Many of the new songs I hear within this genre are kinda so-so. So when one stands out, it really stands out.

Enter Bob Moses and Notre Dame. Their new collaborative single "On My Mind" hit all the right notes for me within the first minute, and I hadn't even listened through the ful thing before deciding that I needed to blog out. Hopefully you find yourself enjoying it just as much?

"Some Kind of Work" by Mission Creep delivers the kind of slick energy that feels made for a heist montage. Stylish, cool, and full of character, the track pairs sharp instrumentation with commanding vocals from Steve O'Brien of the Gypsy Moths.

Mission Creep builds a sound that carries both swagger and urgency. The rhythm drives forward with confident momentum, creating a sense that something big is unfolding. It has a suave and nuanced feel that makes you feel like the coolest person in the room while also pushing you to move at full speed.

The drumming anchors the track with a steady pulse that feels like the mastermind of the operation. Above it, Steve O'Brien steps in with the perfect right hand presence, delivering vocals that balance control, attitude, and charisma.

With its cinematic style and undeniable panache, "Some Kind of Work" feels ready for the big screen. It is the kind of song that could steal the scene, along with your money and your heart.

Big Sleep’s “Bruiser” caught my attention with its unyielding forward push. The song starts, it drives, it doesn’t let up, and I’m absolutely here for it. From the first moments, there’s a sense of urgency that never really loosens its grip.

If I had to pick which of my favorite artists it reminds me of, I’d land on early Bloc Party, and with deep admiration for their work, that’s meant as a clear compliment. “Bruiser” taps into that 'controlled chaos' sound without feeling derivative.

This Dublin-based band recently released their album Holy Show with LAB Records, consider "Bruiser" your call to listen.

Obongjayar prescribes a vocal tincture of joy and self love with "Happy Head" a truly needed medicine for the times.

While the track itsself might be a little bit more reflective and intense with it's deeper layers, it still isn't exempt from the beauitful feeling if release it gives. It is the perfect combination of joy and melancholic angst, it speaks with the type of intensity Obonjayar knows so well. It's stern and soft, sweet and sour all together in one perfect drop of remedy and sound. "Happy Head" is at one moment a loud celebration and at another a cool and quiet reflection.

"Happy Head" is understanding in motion and healing in audible form.

"Brush Me Like a Horse" is the perfect combined concoction from Alt-J and JJerome87. It's spiky, bohemian, and strange, but it holds you and keeps you riding in the saddle with its charm and eternal feeling of cool. It's somewhere between Bowie and the new alt movement, and it's a great field to graze in. The track lacks no facet of character and will be the talk of any party. Sign this horse up for the races and let it run wild at any party.

What's so good?

I won't lie: I've listened to my fair share of Parra For Cuva and ODESZA. The sound clearly resonates with me, and I think Palladian has captured something similar with his remix of "Demey" by Jeremy Ragheb.

The original version of the song sets a pretty interesting base, but I feel like this remix brings it to life. The addition of vocals, the drumbeat, the ebbs and flows - it compliments Jeremy's use of the "Khaen" perfectly.

Also interesting to note: there's a "viral" TikTok of Jeremy playing this song in a subway. Super cool!

 Sounds like:
 Washed Out, Teen Daze

What's so good?

There's a lot of reverb going on with this - to the point the vocals are sorta drowned out. And yet I think that's exactly the reason I like it. I feel like I'm shrouded in some sort of fuzzy auditory cloud, and every time I hit play it tickles my eardrums in just the right way.

Hopefully that didn't create any weird visuals for you...

This is actually the second track by La' Voar we've picked up this month (the first one was "Storma "). That one's equally interesting! Clearly the Finnish artist is on to something good.
