Kicking off this week’s Engagement photo round-up is Christa and Jeremiah’s Steampunk themed engagement session.  They showed up with props and great outfits to their engagement session with Utah photographer Amanda Abel who says, “It was so fun and unique and completely out of the box! They are having a Steampunk themed wedding and I can’t wait to see how all of the details turn out.”   IndieWeddingGuide can’t wait to see the wedding photos!

At Cider Hill Farm in Massachusetts,  Taylor and Jeb had a fun fall engagement shoot with Rachel from Dragonflyshots.  They dated for 4 years before Jeb popped the question on a cape cod beach, and are now planning a weekend long wedding celebration at a summer camp in upstate Vermont which will include kickball, food trucks, canoeing and mountain biking.

At a private residence in Texas, Amanda Riddle met up with her brother Cody and his fiance Jamie for some fishing fun and to capture some great photos of them.  Amanda says “I love these two people – Cody is my brother and I am so excited to have Jamie as my sister. They are totally into the outdoors – camping, kayaking, fishing, hunting – you name an outdoor activity and they are into it. I wanted to capture who they really are and get them in their element and this engagement session came out exactly how I wanted it to! Love all of the details – and love that they brought their fur child Lucy :)”

Dylan and Kaitlinn spontaneously called up photographer Jeremy Lee Bachuss and booked a romantic engagement session in a Kentucky field. Jeremy says “I instantly fell in love with the love that they felt for each other. They were a dream for me…..natural, beautiful, just perfect!”

Caleb and Katherine had a clear vision for their Engagement Session: capture their free spirits and intimate connection with a background you couldn’t ignore. Nestled on the Blue Ridge Mountains in South Carolina, they found the perfect bald rock to free their souls and encourage their love to run wild. Maine based Jamie Mercurio Photography sent in these engagement photos and had this to say about the session “Abbie & Will met me at Hill Top Coffee Shop in Portland after it closed for the day to capture some cozy moments. Then we headed to Willard Beach to catch the beautiful sunset light.”

Jenny and Ben showed up to their engagement photo session on Rural Hill in Huntersville, North Carolina prepared with bikes, Jenny’s grandmother’s sofa, and a killer polka dot skirt. Hannah and Ryan were married about a year ago, but since they both serve in the Navy and have been stationed separately for awhile, they didn’t get the chance to have a wedding day. Finally they both found themselves stationed in Pensacola, Florida so when photographer hcophotos offered to do a photo session for them, they jumped at the chance. Heather led them through alleys, parks and even a parking garage to capture some beautiful images of these fun and down-to-earth newlyweds.

Jackie and Simen live in Manhattan, so for their engagement photos they chose different spots around Manhattan that are special to them, including the bar they met at, a place on the Lower East Side where their initials are carved in the sidewalk, and Central Park. Photographs by AMC Photography.

Speaking of a travel theme, Brittany and Kyle scheduled their engagement photo session during the spring bloom season in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. They told their photographer (Jessica from Beautiful Simple Life Photographer) the story of how they got engaged in Paris 8 months previous and how they wanted a small travel theme applied to their session.

A few thoughts on the day from the Bride and Groom, Erin and Dan:
“We quickly realized the day of the wedding that it was more important to let the small things go and enjoy the day as we were surrounded by friends and family that flew out from around the country.
Our Advice: Choose vendors that not only are great at what they do but that are people you would love to spend the day with. At the end of the night we jumped in the pool with our photographers, dj and hairdresser!!!
In deciding the theme for the wedding day we just looked around our apartment! We live in a loft with industrial shelving, vintage suitcases for storage and Edison bulbs. We took those ideas and used some of those items the day of the wedding. It was a great way to really make the day “ours” while saving money at the same time. We both decided we wanted the weekend to be fun. We started the weekend off on Friday the 4th of July with our friends and family at a baseball game and fireworks. The evening of the wedding we had a groomsman in a Speedo, no speeches so we could just dance and enjoy each other, our family, and our friends, and a grand late night group jump in the pool!”

Melissa and Charena wanted a fun and casual backyard wedding with family and friends. The morning started out with Melissa and her daughters who were the bridesmaids getting their hair and makeup done at the venue/house.

First look shots were taken at the Mt. Woodson Castle Country Club, the look on Charena’s face when she saw Melissa was priceless.

The ceremony was officiated by the creative and lovely Bethel (Ceremonies by Bethel) who by getting extra information about the couple was able to weave a beautiful ceremony that included a handfastening ceremony and a special ceremony for Melissa’s girls where they too got special rings. There was so much love at this ceremony most of the guests were even teary eyed.

The reception featured a very tasty buffet, mason jar favors that were perfect for the custom cocktails from the bar , a photo booth, a smores bar with Ghirardelli chocolates and a dance floor next to the pool. DJ providing the music was Choice Entertainment

Heather and Brian worked in insurance for the same big company but never actually ran into each other in the building, partly because Brian at the time worked as an outside Rep and didn’t come into the office frequently. They met each other out at a company sponsored event, after which point became inseparable.

For her wedding day, Heather wore a gorgeous lace mermaid gown which she found at The Bridal Garden, a not-for-profit bridal boutique in New York City in which all proceeds benefit education for disadvantaged children. “It was awesome to know my purchase went to such a terrific cause! I bought it off the rack and it fit me almost perfectly!” says the bride. The dress designer: Marchesa

The couple fell in love with The Green Building for its effortlessly beautiful interior and the vintage flair. The Green Building was previously a brass foundry and has beautiful original brick walls, exposed beam ceilings, gold chandeliers, and even a back speakeasy room equipped with vintage decor and red velvet curtains. Their vendors helped create a warm and intimate setting.

“The rabbi read our vows of why we wanted to marry each other, the touching vows Brian wrote brought me to tears and my favorite part during the ceremony was when Brian reached over to wipe my tears away,” says Heather. “I am Jewish and Brian Protestant, so we decided to fuse our backgrounds by incorporating an Irish ‘hand-fasting’ and a stomping of the glass, both beautiful traditions and incredibly sentimental.”

rentals were from Broadway Party Rentals. Helping put everything together was Event Planner Parties N All LLC, and video was created by Kiss The Bride Films.

Paying homage to the speakeasy theme, guests took home little bottles of whiskey.

After the dinner, dancing, and cake we ended with a food truck by Wafels & Dinges which was a huge hit!

Daniel and Emily first met several years earlier when Daniel photographed Emily’s graduation photos. Fast forward to years ahead when both found themselves single, and sparks flew for this artsy-chic pair.
