Fashion model Andrej Pejic is one of those lucky lads who can wear a woman’s attire and wear a woman down J We were left with our mouths hanging open to see a beautiful boy walk the ramp in gorgeous couture with so much oomph!!! How would he not have his gender questioned when he made his first appearance at the Jean Paul Gaultier spring 2011 show? Tthe exquisiteness of his face would make any woman want to look at herself and question the unfairness of her creator.

His androgynous look is so staggeringly beautiful; sometimes the boy and sometimes the pretty girl and we definitely don’t mind seeing him as both.

BUCKET-LIST FOR THIS SUMMER

Honestly the idea of a bucket-list came to our mind after watching the eponymous movie. It makes you realize how important it is to make a list of things you want to do in this life, that is when it struck us that why cant we have a bucketlist for every season? It doesn’t need to be elaborate, just a few things you feel you would need in your wardrobe to welcome the new season. Keep in mind the colours that are being discussed on fashion blogs and websites and choose your pieces according to the colours of the season.

Summer is not a favorite season for tropicals. But who can blame us for not feeling the pull towards the heat? J Most people around the world wait for the sun kissed months; no more dark colours and heavy winter wear.

A few tips can go a long way........it is important to know your basics in shopping techniques.

Start with basics like a few 100% cotton tees, buy a couple that would go with leggings too, if you are the experimental kind that pick light weight skinny fit or high waisted trousers for a chic look.

Free your body off denims.

Dresses with flowery prints and pastel colours are associated with summer so dont forget to pick a few to make you feel liberated.

Chuck the jumpsuit and try on a playsuit, it is the epitome of comfort and sexy.

A few must haves for this summer; shades, a scarf, use it as a bandana or wrap it around your neck, pick up atleast two basic colours to team it up with any of your outfits, a bikini is a must have and do not forget the most essential part of any wardrobe “FOOTWEAR” so pick out gladiators or sandals for a happy feet summer.

Hey guys.....it’s been long, but like it’s said best things come to those who wait longer. For me shopping is a stress buster but in our daily rat race where is the time? I think every city in the world should have a night flea market and clearances sales should be post 8 p.m. J wouldn’t that be a dream come true? Every December my excitement knows no limits in anticipation of a freezing winter. It gets me thinking about the amazing ensembles I can wear during this time and especially the jackets I have been stocking in my cupboard have been waiting for long to make their debut. Not so long ago, we still counted him in the boys category. Having being transcended to the official men’s club after Jab We Met, Mr. Shahid Kapoor is high on our style charts because he has made casual look acceptable in high profile events and parties. Of course, he is the quintessential romantic guy on screen but he never let that image affect his personal taste in fashion. He comes from the Justin Timberlake School of style, which holds true even with his dancing style. You can habitually notice him in the distressed jeans and funky graphic t-shirts. He is a big fan of undershirts and spruces up with a monochrome slim-fitting shirt. Also, looking at his converse shoes’ adulation, we think that Converse should gift him a custom-made pair soon. We heard that he is donning uniform in his upcoming movie “Mausam”. We just hope he brings out the military style on the streets too.

The Iconoclast – Abhay Deol

This rebel has come to Bollywood with a cause. Dimpled cheeks and daredevil attitude, never the dressy kind, Abhay Deol oozes classy charm. He has been spotted showing off his lean frame in slim fit shirts and washed out denims. We love him when he pairs waistcoats with faded denims. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that this Punjabi bachelor carries off a slim tie like no other. Who had ever thought that the James Dean-esque casual sophistication will be adopted by the Bollywood actors. His stubbled jaw has not been left behind since his Dev D days. Though he did a disappearing act for the promotion of Aisha, his flashy dimples are waiting to flip you over during the movie.

Picture this: Last month, I saw a lady carrying a monogrammed LV bag on a traffic signal. She was in her 30s and was riding pillion on a four stroke two wheeler. Difficult to picture, right? Though, I am not casting any aspersions on her buying capabilities, but she surely didn’t look like the one who can first of all afford an LV bag and secondly carry it off with the same panache as a socialite in page3 parties. That was a rare sight and it will be etched in my mind for a very long time. I have never seen the combination of a two-wheeler and an LV.

Another day, I was attending this party at a suburban pub. As soon as I entered, I saw pretty much every second guy wearing the ghastly fake Ed-Hardy t-shirt. I anyways have low regards for Ed-hardy prints because I think it’s highly over-rated and on-top-of that, the guys were trying to pass off an imitation as original. So they were actually thinking that we would believe that they have bought an effing 6000 rupees t-shirt for a My-cousin-has-got-distinction celebration. Yes why not?? coz they've passed graduation with 90% marks and landed a great job in a huge MNC firm which pays them 5 digits salary?? Really?? And pigs are orbiting planet Earth. As amazing as the story may sound, but thats highly impossible for an average 20 year old Indian to buy those things.

Don’t even ask about Fake Diesel Jeans. It would actually require a detailed research report by McKenzie titled as “Why Renzo Rosso would commit suicide when he comes to India?” to understand the magnitude of this rampant, highly successful, unorganized business. Don’t people like spending on quality products? Can’t people buy products that are good investments for a long time than just being one-week-wear? Is it time to go back to showrooms and buy ORIGINALS?

My point may seem really shallow if I consider the real problems of real India and what people have to go through every day to earn their living and so on. Who cares about clothes right? So, if you are the one who REALLY do not care about clothes, why would you even consider flashing big brands on your chest? Shouldn't that be the last thing going on in your mind? Shouldn’t you be buying the local brands and in turn legitimately help your country and its people to earn some money? Brands don’t matter, what matters is how you are carrying off the clothes you are wearing.

I appreciate those people who look best in whatever they can afford. You have some fantastic local brand stores where you can set your feet in. All you need to do is pick up the best from the lot. You won’t believe, I sometimes find better clothes in these stores than the top fashion brands. Wearing fakes is a form of piracy and piracy is crime. Whether you buy a pirated DVD, download torrent files or wear fake t-shirts, it’s all the same. You are mocking someone’s work of art and it means huge losses to them. Besides piracy, it just looks plainly stupid.

Sooner or later, the girl or boy you are trying to impress will come to know the truth. That this person is a manifestation of sheer travesty and has low or zero self-confidence which he/she keeps trying to hide behind some cool sounding hard to pronounce French brand names. I will say, wait for your turn, till you start earning that much. Everyone gets a chance to wear originals one day in their lives. Our MANGOs and APPLEs will come our way. Till that time, just enjoy these for what they are meant for…eating.

This 1.75 mt tall lovely lass rose to fame after appearing in the hit series How I met your mother. The reason she is making an appearance on my blog is because she is so effortlessly beautiful. In all the episodes that I have seen, she never tries too hard. Most of the time, she is either wearing a plain LBD or a power suit (given her job as an anchor in a morning fluff news show) or a tee and jeans combo (when she is in the bar with friends or at Ed’s apartment). She just looks fantastic in all of it. So here is showing you some pics of the young Canadian girl. Guys visiting my blog will be really exultant for the first time. It happens once in everyone’s life that we are uncontrollably powered by emotions. From the moment you meet that someone, you get charmed by the mystic spells cast by him/her (Lets call that person X). X might be categorized as the most normal person on earth, but your rationale gets overshadowed by your silly attraction and it takes you not more than 10 seconds to think that X is exclusively sent to Earth for you. Pair with it, a little bit of insecurity, the partial thought of unattainability and it is enough to send you in an insurmountable tizzy. X might or might not have inkling about your crazy feelings. Once you get hooked by these feeling, it seems doubly difficult to attract X’s interest. In fact, in a fit to impress X, you end up goofing up royally and start to appear as a total desperate and an attention- seeking pigeon. You yearn, you long, you weep, you get shattered and think of taking extreme steps. Your food seems tasteless, water gives you no relief and your metabolism goes for a toss with no or extreme intake of your daily bread.

Under normal circumstances, the behavior displayed by a person struck by these emotions might seem infantile. But believe me; it brings out the best work from an artist. Though I am not fully aware, what prompted directors like Michael Curtiz (Casablanca Fame) and Victor Fleming (Gone with the Wind fame), but their work speaks volumes about why their names are carved in golden letters in the history of romantic cinema.

I dedicate this post to all those who picturise the painful love though various media and bring it in front of us. I have seen it in films, in songs, in portfolios and even on runways. It is the most difficult emotion to show unless you genuinely feel it. I may not have been able to articulate perfectly what the article deserved, but these pictures will do the job for you. While going through these pictures, just play your favorite heart-wrenching song and be ready to be hurt again.

How miserable can mistakes be?

I was going through a story in GQ and felt the urge to write an article on it. It’s actually an epistle where GQ has asked for an apology for some of their outrageous and egregious recommendations in the past 50 years of existence. The slideshow unashamedly shows numerous you’ve-got-to-be kidding-me type pictures which I rightly abhorred. After looking at those horrifying pictures, I really thought for a second- Has GQ lost it? And we as fools have been revering GQ for years for its outstandingly fantastic features, trend stories and devil-may-care attitude. After coming back to my senses, I realized, no, maybe I am being too judgmental. Mistakes are humanly. We all commit them day in and day out. There are so many of the decisions that I am not proud of, but that doesn’t mean I lose a chance to be treated in a fair way or to be looked at respectfully. The difference between a mistake and a trend is acceptance. Chances of a mistake turning into a good choice hold ground when more people accept and appreciate it and may be later feel inspired to follow it. Remember, in our childhood, when parents found us doing something that we were not supposed to do, they used to say- Don’t do it, It will be a mistake. But that little moth in our viscera fluttered like hell and we used to feel all the more compelled to explore the unexplored and take the plunge. Most of the times, it was a mistake, of epic proportions.

I thought of highlighting few mistakes made in the recent past, some of which are so glaring that it cannot be missed but some will be realized (by them or by others) much later in GQ style. All we say is let them go; they will come to senses someday.

1. The mess that Lindsay created for Ungaro- Already, fashion critics around the world have ripped Linday’s Spring collection for Ungaro to shreds. All we can say is, go easy with the heart next time Lilo.

2. Vogue India April 2010 issue: When will we stop sucking up to westerners? When will we change our attitude from “what they think about us” to “what we thing about us”?

3. Fake IPL team: Ok, we still have to wait and watch. But why did SRK ever think of buying a dud called KKR?

4. Pandora gone unnoticed- Ok, sometimes I really think Oscar committee sits in Pentagon office. Otherwise why would a masterpiece called Avatar be so royally ignored over some war movie talking about Iraq? BTW, the hurt locker is the lowest-grossing movie ever to win the Academy Best Film award. Gross!

5. Tiger Woods sexcapades- Yeah I know, the man had enough. But somewhere we have forgotten that it wasn’t just one single mistake that he made (or rather made out) but a series of lascivious and immoral acts which brought him to such a state. The man is such a pervert.

There may be many more which can be added to this list. I don’t seem to remember right now. If you think of any, do leave a comment. Till then, we should give this a thought and realise what a mistake can do to us. It can change our lives to something we could have never imagined.

Justin Beiber- Sheer luck or pure genius?

Just to inform you, Justin Beiber's latest album My world 2.0 is out today. This guy has really made it. He is 15(canandian) and he is already a singing sensation. You know what, Justin's career started on Youtube. Some random guy(Scooter Braun) saw his videos on youtube and approached him. And the next thing you know is, he is crooning for a joint venture between Usher and Scooter Braun. Can you believe it that he was voted as one of the top 10 youtube stars of the 2000 decade. You must be thinking this is a fashion blog, why are we discussing about him?

Well, I think its perfectly ok to take inspiration from such people. People who have made it big so soon. N would agree with me. Talent can come in any shape, size and colour. Well let's not get very serious and you guys enjoy his single "One Time".

10 ways to mix n match your summer and winter outfits

Hello everyone,

I know it’s been long since I have written anything, well that’s the life of an image consultant......smoothening ruffled feathers and stroking the ego, if you guys have read the earlier post yall will know what I’m talking about. It’s truly amazing how we all want to change our image to change the outlook of other people about us, but that’s not bad, in fact it’s a great opportunity to feel “ look at me, I’m a mystery everyday” I love it when people don’t know what to expect when I walk into my office.....I don’t mean that one fine day surprise the world, walk the streets in your cartoon pyjamas, now you must be thinking “yeah and how the hell do you think I will be able to afford a stunning wardrobe with a not so stunning paycheque?” I went through that phase every single day a few years back, wake up in the morning disheartened coz I don’t have anything new to wear...shopoholics will know what I mean  actually there is a much more simpler way of dealing with this suicidal feeling.

Let’s get started!!!!!!!! Most of us have to go through a winter and a summer season and obviously its burning a hole in our pockets trying to maintain our wardrobes for both the seasons and yes we are always muttering -why did God have to give us the heat and the cold? Why couldn’t it be a normal life with one type of somewhere in the middle weather? But guys wouldn’t we be highly bored of our mundane lives with no mix and match, no reason to shop. Well for the love of shopping, I love the different seasons, yes I totally agree that this love has come after I learnt the tricks of the trade. I realised that I can’t afford two separate wardrobes, so what’s my next option????? If we can mix and match colours and summer with summer and winter with winter so why not winter with summer? I’m not crazy just being practical and trying to stitch up the ozone layer size hole in my pocket. So I’m going to give you girls a few tips on how to save some moolah and still look hot and sexy through the summer street.

DENIM JACKETS: You all are probably thinking that I have lost my mind.....but denim jackets are truly in right now, womanly curve was probably not taken into consideration a few years back and a woman looked more like a tomboy, now the jackets are given a more feminine cut. For a relaxed and cute look, wear it with a dress, cute fuschia pink hot shorts or over denims and even white linen pants.

KNIT WEAR: Sweaters and knit wear are no more only a winter attire, it looks gorgeous and chic, you can team it up with a belt for a formal or semi formal look, they look great with a pair of shorts and flip flops for a casual look or stilettos for a more sexy look. If you want to party baby then do it in a pair of shorts, a backless and stilettos, anyways they are more comfy than a skirt.

SHORTS: I know that shorts are not a part of winter wear, we all know that they are an extremely important part of a summer wardrobe and if you have noticed that most of your winter wear can be teamed up with a pair of cool shorts...... knit wear, waist coats, denim jackets, shrugs, military jackets etc. etc. etc. all of them can look hot if worn with spunk and taste.

WAIST COATS: You must have probably bought it for a more formal setting but waistcoats can be made to look semi formal as well, like you can see in the pics below, in my opinion T’s worn with a waist coat is a complete Serena look from gossip girls, stylish with a capital S.

BOLERO JACKET: I love these short jackets and being petite they give length to my frame, so if you are short do try these jackets, they do wonders to our body type, don’t worry tall women can look good in these as well.

SHRUGS: These lightweights can be carried around easily, so to spice up your outfit and give it a little more detailing shrugs do the job. It can be worn with a fitted shirt or a ganji and even with a dress to make your look complete.

LONG COATS OR JACKETS: Wear it as a dress or team it up with a long t and leggings and you get a chic summer outfit, but please do not try wearing your over layered jackets and keep the furry ones out of sight, you do not want to look like a Himalayan goat who has no option but keep the fur on.

SCARVES: Scarves give the oomph factor to the whole outfit, with one basic colour T- shirt you can have 3 different scarves and every time you will look like you have worn something different, so don’t put your winter scarves or mufflers away just learn how to wear them in a few different ways.

BOOTS: They can be worn in a mild summer but not everyone is comfortable wearing boots during summer. But they do look gorgeous and fun on skirts, dresses and shorts.

BEACH WEAR: As soon as I saw this pic I knew I had to put it in the article, a sweatshirt or a sporty jacket looks great with a bikini and flip flops, most of stick to sarongs or a sheer tunic or shirt, but try this look it looks very different and totally beachy.

This is what I call the perfect way of mixing and matching your clothes, Victorian and Modern…who would have thought that two Eras would look so perfect and made for each other. Always remember one should stand out in a crowd but not look like a clown, this trick will come with time and once you have learnt it you will have saved enough money over the months to buy that Jimmy Choo bag that you love so much.

His/her consultation is not going to do any good to your lacerate image unless you actually APPLY (yes APPLY) those suggestions. He is neither a dentist nor a plastic surgeon; all he does is, overhaul your dressing sense, not cut your love handles, or operate the mole on your face or widen your ass.”

Reconstruction-
Image Consultant: “You are an inverted triangle and you should certainly not be wearing that tube, it amplifies your upper half”

Client: “But (after a brief pause), that’s what...I want

Image Consultant: What??

The regular life of an image consultant comes with a lot of troubles. We have to deal with clients’ insecurities, ego trips, their size problems, their shape problems, over-expectations, their self-proclaimed Queen B status, the list goes on. This post is not a rant about how I hate my job and how much it sucks. But, on the contrary, it is about how I get an opportunity to connect with everyone in the most humanly possible manner. You would be thinking how does that happen? It does, when people come to you with a purpose, purpose of seeking advice on something that they either very innocently don’t know or fail to comprehend. I am actually being their friend, their confidante. What can be more humane than that? And they listen to me. Actually, not all the time, but yeah they are supposed to listen to me. They should listen to me. That’s why they pay me, right? I love my job.

In an effort to treat our clients ethically, we do not reveal any of their personal information. Not even their names. (You would have noticed we do not have any before-after images link on our website). That doesn’t happen anywhere else. But I live in India, India- the land of prejudices, classes, masses, whites, ultra-whites, browns, charcoal-greys, violets and fuchsia-pink (alright I was just talking about colour of clothes). But still, people do not like to reveal their real self. Point taken. Though we all are always in pursuit of perfection, we, unconsciously, do believe that we are perfect and thus do not succumb to any invitation of external help or suggestions. It takes a lot to cajole a person into consultation.

Anyways, all I am trying to say is that we all come in different sizes, shapes and hues. Life is in fact a celebration of being different. Imagine if everybody in this world was exactly the same, we would have never felt the need of paying a compliment to a girl for her deep blue eyes or a guy for his cleft. We all would have been Zebras (Read: Madagascar 2). In our book, one rule doesn’t apply to all. We make an effort to bring out the best in a person of what they are. They may be some minor defects that they deal with. That’s fine. But you should not be living in denial. You have a problem, cure it. I understand, there cannot be cure for everything in this world, so alleviate it or de-accentuate it but do not ignore it.

Some clients are really fun to work with. I like interacting with them and also reading their minds, trying to understand what they are going through and sometimes relate those instances with my experiences in the past. Actually I have this secret ambition of being an anthropologist one day (not psychologist, they psyche me out). So, I got this client who was dealing with a very normal problem-- his weight problem. He weighed around 233 pounds. He was just 19. He was finding it difficult to be seen in the same picture as his friends because he looked way too old for his age. We had a very simple solution for him. He needed to make some miniscule changes in the clothes that he was wearing. Of course, in the mean time, he was also trying hard to reduce some weight. We assessed that he was wearing way too large and baggy clothes. Those made him look fatter. Some people think that wearing too large clothes will hide their bulge or if they wear too tight clothes that will, very magically hold everything inside. We suggested him to buy some fitted t-shirts. Loose t-shirts add extra bulk to your middle portion and give you a sloppy look. He also was wearing contrasting colour on the top and bottom. That wasn’t really helping at all. To streamline his visual appearance from head to toe, we told him to try monochrome looks. No black jeans and white tees. We asked him to try dark colours and advised to stick to the same family of colours.

Of course, such tips also require lots of honey-coating and sugar polishing before they lands up in clients’ ears. Our suggestions have luckily brought in marked improvements that people wanted from us. They even shared the responses from their peers, co-workers and family. But it some cases it didn’t work. The problem in those cases was much deeper than we thought. Your physical appearance is the reflection of your mind and unless you feel absolutely positive from inside, it never shows externally. On that note, I would like to say think beautiful to look beautiful but never hesitate to work on your flaws. It takes very little time and effort to change the world for you, around you. I will keep you updated with information that could be useful to you and also give you peek into my life, till then

“Out of sight, out of mind” how can I ever believe in this quote again......... I was looking at the designers who participated in NYFW and I kept looking for Alexander McQueen’s collection....its just a habit, every year I would eagerly wait to see his new collection. I haven’t seen any designer who could bring this much life on the runway, he was a legend and always will be.

We all have heard and read about his death and it depressed me so much that I didn’t even want to acknowledge it for a long time. I want to start with a quote that I love and it means a lot to me

“When you see a woman wearing McQueen, there's a certain hardness to the clothes that makes her look powerful. It kind of fends people off. You have to have a lot of balls to talk to a woman wearing my clothes.” ALEXANDER MCQUEEN

These are the little things that I want the world to see, things that I took for granted and thought would never end. I know that I can’t write and show everything that I feel on one page but I’m going to do my very best, this is my tribute to one of the most outstanding and visionary designer and its going to take a long long time to get over the loss of someone as brilliant as him.

I really hope all of you have been given a day off from work, husbands and children. It is so funny but I did not know it is our day till I received a message from a friend early this morning, surprisingly from a male friend, I’m glad some men really do care J since then I kept thinking “I have to post something special for us” so I came up with this killer idea “ MY LITTLE SECRETS”

It is all about what we women really desire to make this insignificant day special, our expectations from our men.....how we wish that they could get into our minds just once, I mean just once..... you don’t want them to know our complicated thought process all the time J so getting back to how I wish they could get into our minds to know what we want and understand that it is not so simple to be the perfect girl of their dreams and just this one day pleasssssssseeeeeeeeeeeee make us feel special.

“MY LITTLE SECRETS” is a simple list of my needs and desires on this day, I don’t know if you feel the same way but I thought it would be a nice way to prep up the day for us.

BREAKFAST IN BED: I know this for sure that every woman on earth would love this form of pampering, imagine this one day you don’t have to wake up all groggy, run to the kitchen and be superwoman.

LOVE LETTER: It sounds so farfetched and stupid to even think about it, but we all have hopes....imagine this, you go to your closet and while you are looking for something to wear to war (i mean the day, isn’t it like going to war) this letter drops out and you think did I forget to pay a bill??? But when you open it you read the most beautiful words, I feel that giving a card is amazing as well but a letter shows ‘ I took the time to show you how much I care’

FLOWERS: I love flowers, well I rarely receive them....just one orchid would do the trick.

CUSTARD APPLE MILKSHAKE: I get crazy cravings all the time, my fav is custard apple milkshake and I’m thinking what if he walks into my office right now with a milkshake in his hand and a goofy smile on his face, oh wow that would be the most amazing surprise.

That bag I have been eyeing: I have seen this amazing bag, really expensive though, but it doesn’t let me sleep at night, I have been talking about it to my fiancé since months, describing it over and over again, how I wish that he would remember it and surprise me today.

MOVIE: I love watching movies and I could spend a whole day theatre hopping, but I have always wanted to watch a movie on the beach, in the open air with the soft sound of the waves. I don’t expect a theatre set up but a mat, a few sandwiches and a laptop is perfectly fine with me.

LAP DANCE: kids please do not read this, this is for your mommies.....I would love to end the night with some naughty fun, satin boxers and a full performance to make me feel like a queen.

Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort- Day 1 & 2- Part Deux

VIZYON
Ayush and Shradha Murarka’s “Celestial Bodies” collection was inspired by heavenly bodies of the universe and galaxies. Bandaged dresses and corsets with flowing skirts, pleats, layers and drapes was the main focus of their collection. Organza, satin, georgette and chiffon flowed on the ramp with shades of lavender, cream, white, turquoise, vermillion. Personally this was my least favourite collection, i felt that there was too much going on at one time in one outfit, but like they say “beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder” .

RIYAZ GANGJI

Riyaz gangji has truly impressed bollywood, his collection was all oomph and glamour with long flowing gowns in satin, georgette and chiffons, slit skirts gave drama to the cindrella effect. Purple, coral, dull gold and whites with the right amount of embellishment added glamour and elegance.

I loved the men’s wear, the linen pants, waistcoats, jackets and lean trousers with a

bit of cutwork or embroidery in pastels made the men look hot and cool at the same time.

BABITA MALKANI

I was super impressed by this boho and totally apt summer/resort collection. Inspired by Bhutan and its monasteries and architecture this amazing boho chic collection came to us, she used hues ranging from nude, blue, coral, navy, khaki to black, white, yellow, pink, purple and green. Hand embroidered belts and slings added a touch of Bhutan to this very impressive collection, wrap dresses, jackets, shorts, capris and jumpsuits in so many different colours and innovative cuts left me drooling for more.

Lets not forget our new designers, the GenNext.

Pooja Kapoor : “My collection is called Nip and Tuck. It focuses on an aspect of edgy feminity. The line is very modern and also has an element of grunge because I’ve used chains and metal sequins. At the same time it’s also very chic and feminine. The primary focus has been on draping,” says Pooja.

Sabah Khan: “The inspiration behind this collection, No Class, is the lifestyle of the people dwelling in the slums of Dharavi. The craziness and havoc in their lives is depicted with use of layering, textures, colours, patchwork and digitalprints,” she says.

Siddhartha Upadhyaya: His collection As You Like It is based on the concept of the multiple look of a single garment as per one's choice. “The ensembles can be worn in two different ways — the regular way or upside down, creating two different looks of the same ensemble, for two different occasions. The clothes aren’t just reversible, they can be worn upside down,” says Siddharta.

Sought Paul: “The theme of my collection is Geometric Elegance and is inspired from things perceived everyday — from a paper cutout to a basket weave. The USP is workmanship with immaculate finishing. My clothes are classy, subtle yet coy,” he says.

Vipin Batra: “Swirls of light is my inspiration for this collection and I’ll be showcasing a series of gowns and dresses. I’ve specialised in the knitting technique and experimented with different yarns by creating new textures. I believe in working on the finer details of a garment through textures, prints and colours,” he says.

Hi everyone, I am bringing to you the first day of Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2010, like me I am sure you all guys must be waiting to see what our Indian designers have got on the runway and I was not disappointed......maybe a little J well there is a lot more to come.

Rocky S and Sabyasachi do not need any introduction, they are two of the renowned Indian designers and once again they make me proud. Babita Malkani stuck to the theme of resort wear, thus making me very happy; i want to own all her outfits.

Rocky S kickstarts the LFW.

Designer Rocky S says, “I have always been doing a lot of traditional wear and in this fashion week I will make a strong statement with colours in traditional summer wear. My line is almost like a wedding and it’s not just for the bride but for the entire family. I don’t think white and other soft colours are the only one for summer. I have lots of embellishments too in my line but it’s not over the top.”
True to his word Rocky S gave a new meaning to traditional, he managed to give us a modern touch with beautiful fabrics and unconventional wedding colours. The fabrics were gorgeous giving a new meaning to pastels, ivory and nude, the pinks, peach and turquoise lit up my eyes and the ever loved colour black im sure charmed the crowd. He teamed them up with brocades, swarovski crystals, patchwork and pleats.

SABYASACHI: He calls it the "mid-life crisis".

"All my years I have been experimenting with the same designs. I personally feel that my collections had gone reasonably boring in the past few years and I needed to get away from that. I feel that I should have come up with this collection five years back,"

Calling the collection "contemporary", the designer said: "Each piece can be treated individually. You just need to mix and match and the outfit is ready. It is very contemporary and chic.

What do you say about a man who earned the distinction of being the only Indian designer invited to showcase at the Milan Fashion Week 2004.

The look was very 70’s with the models wearing orangish red sunglasses, mufflers around their neck and bandanas on their head, printed cotton fabrics were used and that is making me feel cool only looking at the pics, i loved the chunky jewellery and the kodas hanging from the end of the neck scarves and as usual he did not forget the simple black bindi.

KRISHNA MEHTA

From last season’s “kumbh mela” to paris this season, Krishna Mehta did not disappoint us, summer already feels cooler. The colours were in rhythm with the first day lfw mood, bright and sunny. Flowing pleated tunics in yellows and purples, dresses in pink, orange, blue and plum looked totally gorgeous, accessorising with scarves gave a touch of class to the outfits. The abstract velvet jacket and shorts was one of my favourite look. She managed to make fabrics like cotton, voile, jersey and silk want to be a part of every woman’s wardrobe.

SHAYMAL AND BHUMIKA

This team got holi-day on the runway, the colourful bikinis teamed with harem pants and shorts, one shoulder dress that looked half kaftan, long flowing maxis, cute minis and printed tunics is tempting me to pack my bags for a beachy vacation. The vibrant colours in fabrics such as cotton, satin, georgette, crepe with an amazing assortment of prints brought life to the runway.

NIKASHA TAWADEY

The use of warm colours was very apparent in nikasha’s collection, she called her collection “Siuli” based on the divinely fragrant flower. Her collection had a touch of romance and cooled the eyes, luxurious fabrics like chanderi, chiffon, soft muls and benaras silk gave the look of womanly softness teamed with chikanwork and antique mukaish and Karchobi craft which were turned into tiny buds and knots. The Resham zardozi embroidery gave the earthy tones shimmer and life. Chunky neckpieces and anklets gave the perfect boho Indian touch.

PRIA KATARIA PURI

Maharani Gayatri Devi’s beauty and style can be seen in Pria’s collection, no wonder she calls it “the royal rajputana collection” her garments were a rainbow of colours that ranged from creamy pearl, smoky and golden topaz, aquamarine, turquoise, coral, red, emerald and onyx which were made from flowing fabrics like silk, chiffon, tulle, satin, jersey and Egyptian cotton. She has used a lot of crystals and semi precious stones that gave the perfect rajasthan feel. Kaftans in diverse lengths, sarees, lehengas and cholis were seen in a fusion of colours .

Hi pals, it’s the weekend again and I am completely exhausted. Havent even got the time to see Paris, je t'aime which I downloaded recently. Have you guys seen it? Let me know if u liked it. While sipping on my iced tea, I was thinking about what I liked in the recently concluded Milan fashion week. Though I was head over heels in love with many many outfits, I bring to you the chosen few..Here they are…

Alberta Ferretti

I was literally swooning over designs of Alberta Ferretti. This nude pleated long dress comes right on top on in my “so-pretty-that-i-can-loot-a-bank-for-this” list. I liked the idea of covering hands with almost invisible net. She used a lot of crystal jewellery too in her collection this time. I was tempted to add few more designs, but this one just defines why she is a queen of tucking and draping techniques.

Dolce and Gabanna

Dolce and Gabbana are back to their heritage. The collection was replete with black. But, I think there is more to this than meets the eye. First of all, pairing of jackets with lingerie is a fantastic premise. We have always known Dolce and Gabbana as someone who set trends in the market. The iconoclastic image of a woman with jacket and lingerie shows us a glimpse of a new age woman. A woman who is tough nut to crack in the concrete jungles of corporate (Nico Reilly from “Lipstick Jungle”, anybody) but she also wants to bask in the sun and enjoy pleasures of the real world. Simply love these outfits!!

Emillio Pucci

I know I am being a little rude by just bringing you one outfit from the entire collection, but paucity of space makes me do so..slideshows would have been better(you can check out the full collection at style.com). This gilded metallic outfit is designed by Peter Dundas from Emilio Pucci. Peter’s collection was inspired from Pucci’s 70s work. I personally liked this one because it’s sexy, alluring and has over pouring oomph in it. The collection saw more of fringes, wisps, threads and shreds ;)

Pollini

Jonathan Saunders from Pollini, brought out sporty collection and showed lots of kilts, coats and hoodies. It was a youth-centric collection.. This brown toggle coat paired with half vertical pleated skirt and a hooded woolen makes the girl look super cool.

Roberto Cavalli

Glam, rock and animal prints…few words associated with Roberto Cavalli. When you see his collection, you will know why. Personally, I loved the printed blue brocade sling bag, print of which is on the jacket. Multi-layering with brocades, leather and animal prints were conspicuous.

Salvatore Ferragamo

You only see sweater dresses in monte-carlo ads these days(specifically India). This outfit is by Massimiliano Giornetti(Salvatore Ferragamo). The best part about this one is the plaid shorts with folds and balloon sleeved top. Very seventies. Also, the look on the right with the long suede jacket and knitted hat is quite chic and contemporary.

Trussardi 1911

Isnt’ t that jacket hot? That’s what I thought when I looked at Trussardi 1911 collection. Though probably such kind of outfits makes you impossible to bend, but I think it’s good for the posture. And I want those tweed pants too.

Versace

Here comes the last entry in my most favourite-Versace. At Versace, it was all about blacks, blues, coral reds and few yellows, didn’t see too many layers. We got to see some stiff cuts and lovely tailoring. I liked the idea of combining traditional black with startling blue. Short body hugging dresses with deep slits were used in a lot of designs. Though Versace toned down few years back from their high-glamour image, but this was definitely dripping sexiness. And why not, coz, Versace definitely don’t sleep on the fame. ;)

London Fashion Week Snapshots: Basso and Brooke, Erdem and Marios Schwab score a perfect 10

As an Indian living in a tropical climate, I can only desire for a snowy cold weather, long woollen jackets and furry collars. Any part of the world I have visited, I have bought numerous jackets which obviously now are just hanging in my closet with their price tags still intactJ. Every year I diligently pray to god to give Bombay my dream winter. While I was going through the London Fashion Week collections, I realized that not all the clothes are made selfishly for heavy winters. So I have picked a few outfits to make us not so lucky ones feel good and cool.

I know yall are really looking forward to see the outfits that I have picked, but please hang on for a few minutes. I was just dying to talk about the clothes I have chosen and I had absolutely no one’s brains to chew, so please be a little patient with me....so this is what I feel.

I am more a colour person, of course I love black, white (especially white) and greys but colours always manage to brighten my day and make my sometimes dull life sunny and alive....so if you feel the way I do, you should definitely have a look at the collection of Basso and Brooke, Erdem and Marios Schwab. The colour combinations they have used are eye catching and interesting. One of my favourite outfit from below is from the collection of Pringle, that outfit is so me, the loose pants are airy and very trendy.
