<p> Laird Connectivity has developed a new sensor that features integrated antennas, an external temperature probe and rugged IP65 enclosure. The Sentrius RS1xx External Series probe allows customers to mount the sensor outside of a device and measure the temperature inside via the cabled sensor. Designed for a wide range of cold chain management applications like agriculture and food safety monitoring, the RS1xx External Series probe makes it easy to monitor environmental data. The rugged and configurable sensor device leverages the benefits of LoRaWAN and Bluetooth low energy (BLE) connectivity in a small form factor.</p>
<p>
The RS1xx External Series can be coupled with a Sentrius RG1xx LoRa Gateway to quickly deliver an advanced wirelesss ecosystem with superior RF performance. This new ecosystem of pre-integrated solutions provides developers and OEMs with the flexibility and freedom to create everything from a single stand-alone node to a complete end-to-end IoT network.</p>
<p>
&#8220;The RS1xx Series platform enables enterprise customers to deploy secure, stable wireless sensors in long-range IoT applications,&#8221; said Jonathan Kaye, Product Director for Laird Connectivity. &#8220;Ideal for monitoring and measuring liquid temperature, the durable external probe gives customers more flexibility, as it can be built into a system or used as an after market solution.&#8221;</p>
<p>
The RS1xx External Series probe supports a wide temperature range of -55 to 125&#176;C. It reliably sends sensor data in harsh RF environments over long distances to remote LoRaWAN gateways, and with the added benefit of a BLE connectivity option, sensor data can be sent to smartphones and tablets for local configuration, control, or data visualization.</p>
<p>
Pairing the RS1xx with the other elements of Laird Connectivity&#8217;s growing LoRaWAN products ecosystem enables cost-effective and end-to-end control of both public and private LoRaWAN networks. The RS1xx works with Laird Connectivity&#8217;s RG1xx Series of LoRa/multi-wireless gateways for simple out-of-the-box integration and is compatible with 3rd party Cloud and LoRa network ecosystem partners.</p>

At its core, the RS1xx utilizes Laird Connectivity&#8217;s field-proven and reliable RM1xx module hardware, providing LoRaWAN options in 868 and 915MHz frequencies, plus BLE for local data display, configuration, and troubleshooting.</p>

With Focus Stacking, the operator adjusts the focus height until the object areas furthest away from the camera are in focus. The focus height is then changed to focus on the object areas closest to the camera. Depending on the object, the operator chooses how many pictures the application must capture while moving between the defined focus heights. The app then stacks the photos on top of each other to create one ultra-sharp image with no blurred or out of focus areas.</p>

Thanks to the camera and built-in computer, it is easy to capture and store a large amount of photo documentation directly on the TAGARNO microscope. Simply capture an image using the control box and access it using a computer that is connected to the microscope through a LAN connection. <h3 class="heading-1">RTL-Aware Dataflow-Driven Macro Placement</h3>
</p>
<p>
This paper proposes a novel multi-level approach for macro placement of complex designs dominated by macro blocks, typically memories. Using the hierarchy tree, the netlist is divided into blocks containing macros and standard cells and their dataflow affinity is inferred considering the latency and flow width of their interaction. This information, known by the RTL designer, is often lost during physical synthesis. The layout is represented using slicing structures and generated with a top-down algorithm capable of handling blocks with hard and soft components, aimed at wirelength minimization. This approach outperforms commercial tools and handcrafted results. These floor plans provide an excellent starting point for physical design and can significantly reduce turn-around time.</p>

<p>Deep Learning consists of the sub-areas training and inference. In the training phase, a training model is developed, tested and refined to the desired accuracy using a comprehensive dataset of images and videos. While in the inference phase a rapid and reliable deployment of the training model in the target environment is the focus. </p>

For this purpose, compact edge hardware is recommended that features high-performance, flexible expansions and pre-installed ready-to-use software tools. The new inference system TANK-870AI from ICP Deutschland offers software developers such a platform, namely AIoT Developer Kit. The hardware itself is based on a 6th / 7th generation Intel&#174; Core i5 / i7 or Xeon&#174; E3 CPU with maximum 32GB pre-installed RAM and 1TB SSD mass storage. In addition to numerous common interfaces, two PCIe x8 slots are available to extend functionality and boost the system via FPGA and VPU based AI accelerators. </p>
<p>
On the software side, the TANK-870AI is packed with the Open Source Open Visual Inference Neural Network Optimization (OpenVINO&#8482;) toolkit. OpenVINO&#8482; enables CNN (convolutional neural network) based, pre-trained models to be used at the edge. The integrated C++ Inference Engine API and the framework friendly Model Optimizer take a big part here. The latter supports multiple frameworks like Caffe, Tensorflow, MXNet and ONNX. Consequently, a wide range of compatible CNN topologies such as AlexNET, SqueezeNet, etc. can be used. In addition, several pre-trained demo sets for common machine vision applications can be used, without the need of time-consuming search and training, for inference in the target environment. </p>
<p>
The Intel&#174; Media SDK provides optimized and accelerated decoding, processing and encoding of new media and video data before and after passing through the Inference Engine. The All-in-One Intel&#174; System Studio Suite, though, improves the performance, efficiency and reliability of IoT applications. Another integrated tool is the cloud-based web editor Arduino&#174; Create. It is a plug-in for Intel&#174; platforms with an Ubuntu 16.04 operating system, which is used for project development, collaboration and communication from the idea to the actual application. </p>
<p>
On the AIoT Developer Kit from ICP hardware and software are optimally geared to each other. This gives software developers the opportunity to exploit their full deep learning development potential at the edge. </p>

The new Mustang-V100 AI accelerator card from ICP Deutschland supports developers by integrating AI training models successfully at the edge. Eight Intel&#174; Movidius&#8482; Myriad&#8482; X MA2485 Vision Processing Units (VPUs) are integrated on a PCIe based expansion card. Due to its low power consumption of 2.5W per VPU, it is suitable for particularly demanding low-power KI applications at the edge. Each individual VPU can be assigned a different DL topology. The reason for this is the multi-channel execution capability of the VPUs, which enables the simultaneous execution of calculations. This allows different applications such as object recognition or image and video classification to be executed simultaneously. In addition, the compatibility of the OpenVINO&#8482; toolkit from Intel&#174; optimizes the performance of the training model and scales it to the target system at the edge. Software developers benefit in two ways &#8211; through fast and optimized integration without tedious trial and error. The Mustang-V100 is compatible with a variety of popular operating systems such as Ubuntu 16.04, CentosOS 7.4 and Windows 10 IoT and supports numerous architectures and topologies of artificial neural networks.</p>

<p><span class="abstract">Pixus Technologies, a provider of embedded computing and enclosure solutions, has released new OpenVPX faceplates for rugged applications.</span></p>
<p>
The new 6U OpenVPX panels feature an extra thick extrusion, providing both rigidity and the ability to attach helicoils on the faceplate. There is also a PCB holder bar that extends along the inside of the 0.8&#8221; wide panel. This bar acts as a stiffener for the panel and provides a more secure interface for attaching the PCBs. EMC gaskets and the Pixus Type IVs ejector handles with it&#8217;s rugged metal engagement claw are optional. Versions in a 3U height or 1.0&#8221; width are available upon request. </p>
<p>
Pixus offers silkscreen and custom cutout services for its faceplates. The company also provides filler panels, handles, card guides, rails, PCB protective covers, and many other components in various VITA and PICMG based open standard architectures. </p>

The new congatec SMARC 2.0 Quick Starter Kit integrates conga-SMX8 computer modules with either the low-power NXP i.MX 8X or the high-end NXP i.MX 8 (QuadMax) series, as well as a conga-SEVAL evaluation carrier board, which offers access to all interfaces and functions for SMARC 2.0 based NXP i.MX 8 designs. The evaluation carrier supports a comprehensive set of interfaces including 4x PCIe x1, 1x mini PCIe, 2x USB 3.0, and 4x USB 2.0 for generic extensions. Next to 2x RJ45 for Gigabit Ethernet, 4x COM, 1x CAN bus and 12 GPIOs are also available. Displays can be connected via dual channel LVDS, eDP, DP and 2x MIPI-DSI, and additional storage media via an SD/MMC socket and 1x SATA 6G. Digital and analog audio I/Os for I2S and HDA complete the interface offer. </p>
<p>
The Quick Starter Kit also includes an ATX power supply, the conga-ACA2 MIPI CSI-2 dual camera module, WLAN antenna, LVDS adapter, SATA, USB cable and a cooling solution for the module. On software side, a qualified bootloader package and board support packages for Linux, Yocto and Android are available through the congatec Git server.</p>

The VTX350 is a 6U VPX chassis with up to twelve 6U VPX slots and provision for dual power modules ideal for field deployment. The chassis can accept 0.8-inch, 0.85-inch and 1.0-inch pitch modules.</p>
<p>
The initial backplane provides eight 6U VPX payload slots, fully compliant to VITA 46.0 baseline specification with additional support to the RTMs, compliant to VITA 46.10 and OpenVPX VITA65. In addition, an optional chassis manager (VPX980) can include a JTAG Switch Module (JSM) with JTAG routed to payload slots. Each payload slot supports up to six VITA 66.5 12-way fiber modules for high density fiber I/O. The chassis includes provision for fiber management and stress relief, making it suitable for high-speed, high-I/O applications such as EW and multi-mode radar. Chassis construction meets shock and vibration requirements per MIL-STD-810G. </p>
<p>

<p>Rochester, NY &#8211; March 14, 2019 &#8211; D3 Engineering today announced its new DesignCore&#174; sensor interface card for the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier Developer Kit. The new card allows engineers to quickly connect multiple cameras or sensors with their NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier Developer Kit to access its full power for system development. </p>
<p>
D3 Engineering will demonstrate its DesignCore NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier FPD-Link III Sensor Interface Card at the GPU Technology Conference (GTC) in San Jose March 18-21, 2019.</p>
<p>
&#8220;The new DesignCore sensor interface card allows engineers to take advantage of the incredible compute power of Jetson AGX Xavier by easily connecting up to 16 streams of input data,&#8221; said Jason Enslin, product manager for embedded vision at D3 Engineering. &#8220;This speeds development of advanced AI robotics and autonomous applications for manufacturing, delivery, retail, agriculture, and more.&#8221;</p>
<p>
Sensor data is delivered via a serial link and is de-serialized into MIPI CSI-2 data for consumption on the Jetson AGX Xavier Developer Kit. This allows the sensors to be placed up to 15 meters away from the processing unit. GPIO and I2C control are available for configuration and reset. An on-board FPGA provides hardware-level synchronization capability. </p>

<p>When it comes to technology, many people would love to see an innovative product, but sometimes a person will feel nostalgic and get happy by looking at old gadgets. Something like this has recently happened with a man who discovered more than 30 years old Apple Ile personal computer. We all know Apple is one of those companies which has given so many good personal computers to the world and Apple IIe was a great computer in the 1980s. Apple IIe is the third model in the Apple II series of personal computers produced by Apple Computer which was first introduced in 1983.</p>

John Pfaff who is a New York state-based professor founded this old machinery in his parents&#8217; attic lying around with lots of dust ion it. However, when he tried to turn it on it did without any giving problems. According to John Pfatt, he tried to insert an old gaming disc in it and surprisingly Apple&#8216;s old computer successfully run some early 80s games in it without any problem. Many people now might have a PC which will at least have a 4GB of ram, but this Apple IIe had only 64KB of RAM so one can imagine what kind of things this little machine can handle.</p>

After John Pfatt discovered this old computer working in perfect condition he quickly posted a photo of playing an old game on his twitter account which quite became trending and many people now are talking about this excellent computer. The floppy disk which John Pfatt found contained some games namely &#8220;Millionware,&#8221; &#8220;Neuromancer&#8221; and &#8220;Olympic Decathlon&#8221; which he must&#8217;ve enjoyed a lot. Sometimes moments like this make you realize importance of today&#8217;s high-end technology since nowadays most of our daily tasks depend upon computers. </p>

In particular, in 2019 we will release an entire product roadmap on standard and custom form factors for edge computing and AI, where high performance, low power, high reliability in critical infrastructure, automotive, and networking are required. This new line completes the already extensive product portfolio based on the i.MX 8 Family, which ranges from the ultra-low-power i.MX 8M Mini to the best in class, i.e. the i.MX 8 Quad Max.&#8221; </p>

&#8220;Edge computing, storage and networking applications benefit from the high performance and scalability NXP&#8217;s Layerscape processor family&#8221; said Noy Kucuk, vice president, Product Management NXP. &#8220;SECO&#8217;s long history and portfolio are ideal to accelerate customers time to market. &#8220;The i.MX8 family brings 64 bit computing not only to the i.MX portfolio, but the many automotive, industrial and consumer markets where the i.MX6 family sees, &#8220;wide adoption and success,&#8221; said Robert Thompson, director, i.MX Ecosystem. &#8220;To enable the same market success with the i.MX8, NXP partnered early with key board partners such as SECO, that have the engineering capability to span the i.MX 8 portfolio to accelerate customer adoption and time to market.&#8221;</p>

At embedded world, a vast range of solutions powered by the i.MX 8 Family will be showcased. Known for its asymmetric multi-core processing, industrial machine vision, 4K video processing and dedicated real-time cores &#8211; the I.MX 8 Family offers a broad range of standard form factors and SBCs.</p>
<p>
First and foremost, the Qseven&#174; standard is well covered by the Q7-C25 and Q7-C26 Qseven&#174; Rel. 2.1 compliant modules. For the former, Q7-C26 exploits the broad scalability granted by the combination of the Qseven&#174; form factor with the i.MX 8 Applications Processors. This solution comes in three versions: i.MX 8QuadMax, i.MX 8QuadPlus and i.MX 8Quad. It features an integrated GPU that supports 2 independent displays and is equipped with 1x USB 3.0, CSI camera connector, boot select signal and PCI-e x1 Gen3. The memory consists of a soldered-down LPDDR4-3200. The Q7-C26 is a great solution for biomedical and medical devices as well as for digital signage &#038; infotainment, industrial automation and control, vending, and smart vision.</p>
<p>
The Q7-C25, instead, is a Qseven&#174; Rel. 2.1 compliant module based on NXP i.MX 8M Applications Processors designed for next-generation embedded systems. This COM mounts an integrated GPU, with support for 2 independent displays. It is well-equipped, with 2x USB 3.0, CSI camera connector, 8x GPIOs, 1x CAN BUS and, the cherry on the top, 2x I2C bus. Finally, the memory consists of a soldered-down DDR4-2400, with 32-bit interface, up to a maximum of 8GB. The fields of application are several, including digital signage &#038; infotainment, home automation, multimedia devices, transportation, and vending.</p>
<p>
SECO has also developed a standard solution for next-generation multimedia applications in the SMARC versatile and small form factor, based on NXP i.MX 8M Applications Processors: the SM-C12. Featuring an integrated GPU, with support for 2 independent displays, it comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth&#174; LE, CSI camera, QuadSPI interface, and 12x GPIOs. What&#8217;s more, it also features an I2C bus, an SM bus, boot select and power management signals. When it comes to memory, the product mounts a soldered-down LPDDR4-3200, with 32-bit interface, up to 4GB. All things considered, the SM-C12 is suited for scenarios such as digital signage &#038; infotainment, home automation, vending, multimedia devices, and transportation.</p>

<h3 class="heading-1">For those looking for a Single Board Computer, SECO offers many different options.</h3>
</p>
<p>
The SBC-C43 is an SBC with NXP i.MX 8 Applications Processors in 3.5&#8221; form factor, designed to be an industrial Arm solution for IoT edge computing applications. The board features 2x graphics accelerators Vivante GC7000 / XVSX or GC7000Lite / XVSX (QuadPlus and Quad), and in terms of connectivity, not only 2x Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, but also multiple USB ports. When it comes to memory, it mounts a soldered-down LPDDR4. All in all, the SBC-C43 is ideal for biomedical and medical devices, digital signage &#038; infotainment, edge computing, industrial automation, IoT, smart vision, and vending.</p>
<p>
Speaking of the 3.5&#8221; form factor, SECO also offers the SBC-C20, an SBC with NXP i.MX 8M Applications Processors. It is a new-generation device designed for cost-effective solutions in the multimedia field as well as for IIoT applications. The board mounts a Vivante GC7000Lite GPU and, in terms of connectivity, comes equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE 4.2. It also features an M.2 WWAN slot and a microSIM slot for M.2 modem. The memory consists of a soldered-down DDR3L, up to 2GB. The SBC-C20 is appropriate for a vast array of applications, such as edge computing, e-health telecare, digital signage &#038; infotainment, HMI, industrial automation and control, info kiosks, IIoT and portable devices.</p>

But SECO&#8217;s jewel in the crown is the SBC-C61, which is based on NXP i.MX 8M Mini Applications Processors. Most notably, SECO has early access to the very same processor &#8211; a processor that, by the way, NXP is launching this year at embedded world 2019. It is based on a Heterogeneous Multi-core Processing Architecture for edge node computing and multimedia. GPU-wise, the product mounts a GC320 2D accelerator and a GCNanoUltra 3D accelerator. Another relevant aspect is connectivity. In this regard, the board features opt fast eth, opt Wi-Fi, up to 2x RS-232 or RS-485 or CAN, and opt modems with SIM slot or eSIM. The memory is a soldered on-board LPDDR4-3000 (up to 4GB). Ultimately, the SBC-C61 is ideal for edge computing, Internet of Things applications, multimedia devices and visual computing.</p>

The SOM also features 16 channels GTH transceivers up to 16.3 Gbps and 4 channels GTR transceivers up to 6 Gbps that enables high speed on-board connectivity peripherals such as PCIe, USB3.0, SATA3.1, display port and Gigabit Ethernet.</p>

<h3 class="heading-1">How low latency application works with our FPGA SOM</h3>
</p>
<p>
The hardware platform receives the audio/ video information through HDMI input streams, which are then handled by Xilinx&#174; HDMI RX subsystem IPs. Audio streams are fed to AAC (Audio CODEC -iWave&#8217;s proprietary development) implemented in R5 core of SoC. The video streams are fed to low latency H.264 Encoder IP-(Developed by iWave&#8217;s partner &#8220;Revatron&#8221;).</p>
<p>
Audio &#038; Video streams are encoded from the respective encoder and are fed to the MPEG TS (Transport Stream) module (MPEG TS transmission and reception module are iWave&#8217;s proprietary IP).Here the encoded streams are packetized as per MPEG transport stream standard.</p>
<p>
MPEG TS output is given to video packet handler which appends TCP/IP or UDP header to MPEG TS packets. The TCP/IP or UDP packets are sent over 1G link (MAC) using RJ45 cable. 1G link is used to stream Full HD resolution and 10G link is used to stream 4K resolution. The other end of the RJ45 is connected to a remote PC where VLC media player is used to stream the encoded audio &#038; video. </p>

<h3 class="heading-1">Reverse operation is also under development:</h3>

Video packet handler passes the audio &#038; video packets to respective decoders (audio to AAC decoder &#038; video streams to H.264 decoder).</p>

SWINDON, United Kingdom, March 7, 2019&#8211; Sensata Technologies (NYSE:ST), an industrial technology company and a leading provider of sensors, today announced the availability of the new ACW4 Single Turn and TCW4 Multi Turn Absolute Hall Effect Sensors, which feature an over-molded, two-part modular construction that provides engineers with exceptional design flexibility. </p>
<p>
The sensing electronics are encased in a thermoplastic polyamide shell while the separate activating magnet is external to the sensor assembly. This modular architecture results in a compact package of only 50mm in diameter by a maximum 24mm thick that allows designers to easily incorporate the ACW4 and TCW4 sensors into both new and existing systems. An over-molded housing completely encapsulates the electronics and seals the cable entry from exposure to the elements, making this IP67-rated sensor an ideal solution for robotic, industrial, manufacturing and material handling applications where dusty or wet conditions are common.</p>
<p>
To help save time and cost, Sensata offers a variety of engineered magnet holder accessories that developers can use instead of designing and testing their own. A variety of output types are available to ensure that the ACW4 or TWC4 sensors can interface with the most common controllers. Unlike typical Hall effect sensors, which rely on a shaft to operate, there are no moving parts in contact with each other; eliminating any potential wear or misalignment.</p>
