Notice concerning the June 12, 2010 show cancellation

The Indianapolis Air Show sincerely regrets the cancellation of the Saturday, June 12th Air Show but it was necessary to cancel the presentation due to weather conditions that rendered the Air Show’s spectator viewing and parking facilities unusable due to high water. This was the first cancellation in the Air Show’s history and we deeply regret that it occurred, however, in view of the significant public safety risks that existed as a result of these conditions, the determination was made to cancel Saturday’s air show presentation.

The Indianapolis Air Show is an outdoor event that is subject to meteorological and surface conditions that cannot not be immediately overcome and as a consequence Air Show tickets are noted like many outdoor events as not being subject to refund.

The Indianapolis Air Show is a charitable fundraising event for the Central Indiana Community Foundation’s support of children’s’ charities one of which is Riley Hospital for Children. The Air Show, over its history, has been fortunate to be able to donate over $1. 3 million dollars to support children’s charities. We appreciate your understanding of the circumstances that resulted in the cancellation of the Air Show on Saturday, June 12th and appreciate your support of this event and the charities that it serves.

Aerobatic pilots, B-17 bomber to fly over Victory Field Friday night, shining spotlight on this weekend’s Indianapolis Air Show
Media invited to fly in historic B-17 as it soars over downtown (Indianapolis, Ind.) – This Friday night, downtown dwellers and visitors will get a taste of what’s in store for the Indianapolis Air Show this weekend – if they look to the skies.

Aerobatic pilots Billy Werth and John Klatt, who will both be performing in this weekend’s air show, will be flying over Victory Field at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Friday, June 11. And just before the Indianapolis Indians take the field at 7:15 p.m., an historic B-17 bomber will surprise Indians fans and anyone downtown who happens to look skyward.

Rob Reider, a renowned air show announcer, will be heard on the Indians’ public address system while the planes are soaring overhead. He’ll be filling the crowd in on what you can expect during this weekend’s air show, as well as detailing the legend of the four-engine B-17 military aircraft, a heavy bomber dubbed the “Flying Fortress.” Members of the Indiana Air National Guard will be piloting the historic aircraft.

“We are so appreciative of the support we’ve received from the Indianapolis Indians for our charitable event,” said Bob Duncan, chairperson of the 2010 air show. “They’ve been giving away tickets to the show, and promoting it all week. And this fly-over tied to one of their games is a first!

“We’d also like to thank the Indiana Air National Guard for taking time out of their busy schedules to help us encourage folks to check out the air show,” Duncan said “They exemplify the military men and women we aim to honor every year.”

Among the main attractions at this weekend’s Indianapolis Air Show at Mt. Comfort Airport, which raises money for children’s charities through the Central Indiana Community Foundation, is the Horsemen Aerobatic Team, the world’s only team that flies three authentic P-51 Mustang fighter planes that served in World War II. There will be “Magic in the Air,” thanks to Red Eagle Air Sports. Bill Braack’s Smoke ‘N’ Thunder Jet Truck, and Kent Pietsch sponsored by Jelly Belly, will be wowing the crowds, too.

Also taking off from the Indianapolis Air Show this weekend will be Franklin’s Flying Circus, comedic performers that include the first father-son wingwalking team. A first-time appearance by the Zhu Zhu Pet Universe Exhibit will draw kids and their families from near and far. Located in the Marsh Kid’s Zone, this exhibit will feature the popular hamster toys zipping around in cars, spinning down slides and tackling other unexpected feats.

Advance air show tickets are available online now and at Marsh, O’Malia’s and United Package Liquors stores. May 18, 2010
Marketing Werks, an industry leader in experiential and mobile marketing, selected the Indianapolis Air Show as an event where they will feature their Zhu Zhu Pet Universe Exhibit. Amy Perkins, Sponsorship Director, said “Knowing the popularity of the Zhu Zhu pets, we are sure children will be dragging their parents here all weekend to see this exciting exhibit in Marsh’s Kids Zone.”

Zhu Zhu Pets drive around in little cars, zip up ramps and spin down slides, run in their hamster wheels, and get into all sorts of crazy situations. Their artificial intelligence even allows them to know what room of their hamster habitat they are in. They make toilet-flushing or teeth-brushing sounds when they enter the bathroom and sleeping noises and alarm-clock sounds when they go into their bedroom.

The Indianapolis Air Show will take place June 11 – 13 at Mt. Comfort Airport. Dollar for dollar, the Indianapolis Air Show provides action packed family fun and this spectacular, community event is only weeks away. In the air you will see wing walkers, aerobatics, smoke, military planes and a flying circus. On the ground crowds can enjoy a Hot Air Balloonathon which will include an appearance by Bud. E. Beaver. This balloon stands 100 feet tall and weighs over 700 pounds and will be visiting the air show on Friday evening. Other activities include a Monte Carlo Silent Auction event, an Antique Car Show, a Remote Control Air Show and more.

Franklin’s Flying Circus & Air Shows presents Sons of Legends. The pilot is Kyle Franklin who is the only son of legendary airshow pilot Jimmy Franklin. He is married to Amanda Younkin, who is the daughter of airshow pilot, Bobby Younkin. Kyle and Matt Younkin are the pilots – although Amanda can fly as well. At age 14 Kyle went for his first flying wing-walk on the Waco “Mystery Ship” and by the time he was 17, he was wing-walking professionally at airshows around the country as the world’s youngest wingwalker. He and Jimmy also made up the first father/son wing-walking team in history.

Other performers include the world’s only P-51 Horsemen Aerobatic Team and the Military class will be represented by the USAF A-10 (Thunderbolt II) East Demo Team and the US Navy F/A-18 E/F Super Hornets.
Boy Scouts Celebrate 100 years of scouting - Air Show style

(Indianapolis, Indiana) – 2010 marks the 100th year of scouting for the Boy Scouts of America. In recognition of this accomplishment, the Indianapolis Air Show is offering a special discount ticket rate to Boy Scouts and their families who want to attend the 2010 show.

The Indianapolis Air Show will be held on June 12th & 13th with Friday the 11th serving as Practice and Media Day. Boy Scouts who purchase their tickets online prior to the event can receive an additional discounted ticket rate by using their special promotion code. More information regarding this special partnership can be found at CrossroadsBSA.org.

For 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has created a strong foundation of leadership, service, and community for millions of American youth. Through A Year of Celebration, A Century of Making A Difference scouts will demonstrate and receive recognition for making a difference in their communities due to their dedication to five of Scouting’s core values: Leadership, Character, Community Service, Achievement and the Outdoors. A Year of Celebration will take place through December 31, 2010.

The Boy Scouts support the Indianapolis Air Show annually, including troop 427 who sell programs during the show to raise money for the event. On Saturday April 10, 2010 over 300 Boy Scouts attended a Spring Camporee at Mt. Comfort Airport and had the opportunity learn about the Air Show first hand at one of their rotation sites. By participating in the Campboree, named appropriately ON A WING and A PRAYER, scouts were able to qualify to earn their Aviation Merit Badge.

Equally as exciting was a chance to fly over Mt. Comfort airport with an EAA Young Eagles volunteer. After participating in the aviation education aspect of the Campboree some scouts won collectible posters and other prizes from the Indianapolis Air Show. Scouts also enjoyed visiting Bill Thornberry’s World Wars Aircraft Museum at Mt. Comfort Airport. Bill Thornberry commented, “I was thrilled to participate in such an amazing event. Watching the scout’s faces as they learned about aviation history and then hearing them ask questions about the performer line-up for the Air Show made for an incredibly fun day.”

The Indianapolis Air Show is an annual event held at Mount Comfort Airport just east of Indianapolis (one mile north of the I-70 Mount Comfort exit). The event dates are June 11-13, 2010. The Indianapolis Air Show is coordinated by the Miracle Ride Foundation II, Inc. d/b/a The Indianapolis Air Show and is a 501c3 charitable entity.
