One of the world’s most famous children’s toys, Barbie, has been given a makeover – wearing a burkha.

Wearing the traditional Islamic dress, the iconic doll is going undercover for a charity auction in connection with Sotheby’s for Save The Children.

More than 500 Barbies went on show yesterday at the Salone dei Cinquecento, in Florence, Italy.

Makers Mattel are backing the exhibition which is the work of Italian designer Eliana Lorena.

The auction is part of Barbie celebrations for her 50th anniversary this year. The UK’s biggest Barbie fan Angela Ellis, 35, has a collection of more than 250 dolls.

Iran will begin large-scale air defense war games Sunday aimed at protecting its nuclear facilities from possible attack, a senior military commander said Saturday, reflecting the country’s concern that Israel could make good on threats to strike militarily.

The drill comes as a top clerical official renewed his threat to target “the heart of Tel Aviv” should Israel attack Iran.

The five-day drill will involve Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard and the regular army and will cover 230,000 square miles – or about 600,000 square kilometers – of central, western and southern Iran, said air force Gen. Ahmad Mighani.

Stolen(?) classified emails and files were released yesterday that proved that the junk scientists behind the global warming movement knowingly perpetrated a fraud on the global community.

The Climategate scandal (and I do apologise for calling it that, but that’s how the internet works: you need obvious, instantly memorable, event-specific search terms) continues to set the Blogosphere ablaze.

Like the Telegraph’s MPs’ expenses scandal, this is the gift that goes on giving. It won’t, unfortunately, derail Copenhagen (too many vested interests involved) or cause any of our many political parties to start talking sense on “Climate change”. But what it does demonstrate is the growing level of public scepticism towards Al Gore’s Anthropogenic Global Warming theory. That’s why, for example, this story is the single most read item on today’s Telegraph website.

What it also demonstrates – as my dear chum Dan Hannan so frequently and rightly argues – is the growing power of the Blogosphere and the decreasing relevance of the Mainstream Media (MSM).

This is not altogether the MSM’s fault. Partly it is just the way of things that more and more readers prefer their news and opinion served up in snappier, less reverent, more digestible and instant for.

But in the case of “Climate Change”, the MSM has been caught with its trousers down.

Orthodox priest and missionary Daniil Sysoyev

Kirill Frolov, a prominent Orthodox missionary activist, said that Father Sysoyev had said that he had been receiving threats for several years.

“Over the course of two, three years Father Daniil, who was famous for his active missionary work, periodically received e-mails stating that if he didn’t stop his theological polemics with Islam, then he will be dealt with like an infidel,” Mr. Frolov told the Interfax news agency.

A catechist at the church who identified herself only as Tatyana told RFE/RL that Sysoyev had converted many Muslims and baptized them in the church.

Hollywood’s latest doomsday offering ‘2012′ has caused a storm in Indonesia, with conservative clerics condemning it Thursday as a ‘provocation against Islam.’

The country’s top Islamic body, the National Council of Ulema (MUI), is divided over whether or not to issue a fatwa or religious edict against the film. One local branch has already done so, to little apparent effect.

‘The controversial things about the film are, first, in Islam doomsday should not be visualised or predicted, it’s the secret of God,‘council chairman Amidhan told AFP.

‘For the common people, the portrayal of doomsday in this film could distort their faith – that’s what I’m worried about.’

He also complained that the film showed mosques being destroyed but not churches, despite sequences depicting the Vatican collapsing and Rio de Janeiro’s monumental Christ the Redeemer statue crumbling to pieces.

‘The film shows that everything including Kaaba (Islam holiest shrine) and mosques were devastated except for churches. The film is a provocation against Islam,’ Amidhan said.

‘The Indonesian film censorship body should have cut part of the scene on the devastation of mosques or the Kaaba because it hurts the Muslim people.’

A Somali woman has been stoned to death for committing what a judge has said was adultery.

The 20-year-old divorcee was executed November 17 after confessing to having had sex with a 29-year-old unmarried man.

Sheikh Ibrahim Abdirahman, the judge for a court created by the rebel group Al-Shabab, says the woman was killed in front of a crowd of some 200 people near the town of Wajid.

It was the second recorded stoning for adultery carried out by Al-Shabab fighters.

A. Too stupid to understand the amount of vital information you could get from interrogating the messiah of the Al Qaeda movement.

So which is it?

If the U.S. captures Osama bin Laden, there’s no need to interrogate him, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee said Thursday.

Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), the chairman of that committee, said that arguments raised by Republican senators about whether bin Laden would be afforded Miranda rights if he were captured amount to a “red herring.”

“The red herring that my friend [Sen.] Lindsey Graham [R-S.C.] was covering is not realistic,” Leahy said during an appearance on “Washington Journal” on C-SPAN.

“For one thing, capturing Osama bin Laden — we’ve had enough on him, we don’t need to interrogate him,” Leahy added.

Leahy may not be concerned about those issues, but our intelligence and military communities are, as well as our allies. And we’re not going to get that information from bin Laden or any other terrorist by handling them the same way we do Americans arrested for committing normal crimes. A display of good-cop/bad-cop is not going to get hardened jihadists to spill their guts; it takes intelligence agents with specific training to do that even under the best of circumstances, and the environment for that would create massive problems in a federal trial.

This is why we need people other than Pat Leahy in charge of national security. The big prize for Leahy in capturing bin Laden isn’t national security, but a big splashy trial. The fact that Leahy isn’t even dimly aware of these considerations is reason enough to dismiss him entirely, and those of his colleagues who don’t understand the difference between arresting a murderer and capturing an enemy abroad. The law-enforcement approach Leahy champions so ignorantly with this assertion will leave America blind to plots against us.

Silence on Islam Kills, from Hassan to Honor Killings

But silence on Islam kills. It kills when we remain silent about the Nidal Hassans in our midst. It kills when people look away as honor killings among Muslim families continues to grow. It kills as Muslim gangs like the Muslim Boys in the UK form and it kills as Muslim riots claim the lives of innocent people, as they repeatedly do in Europe. But when it comes to Muslims, there is a code of silence that falls over even the most committed officials. A directive that warns them to look away, to make excuses and to blame anything and everything but Islam. To deny the truth and cover up the crime.

While Hassan is one example of the cost of silence, honor killings are another. The willingness of American and European social workers to ignore abuse in Muslim families as “part of their culture” or worse yet to recruit Muslim police officers who often take the victim right back to the abuser, is part of the same Culture of Silence on Islam.

Nidal Hassan’s behavior might seem deranged to Americans, but is considered normal and praiseworthy back in the mosques of Gaza or the West Bank. While to his classmates, Hassan might have seemed deranged, he was in fact a perfectly normal Palestinian Arab Muslim. The problem was that he happened to be a Palestinian Arab Muslim living and working among Americans. Yet liberals who routinely boil everything down to cultural differences can’t seem to grasp that the difference between homicidal mania and religious martyrdom is in this case a religious and cultural difference as well.

Liberals who condemn such talk as bigoted, are ignoring the fact that it is about ideology, not about race. Last week the London Times carried an interview with a British former altar boy who had gone to fight with the Taliban and was eager to kill fellow British troops. Adam Gadahn, the Al Queda spokesman, is a grandson of a member of the Board of Directors of the ADL and an editor for The Chronicle Christian. Jose Padilla started out as a member of a Latin street gang. The only thing they had in common was not race, but ideology. The ideology of Islam.

Muslims may be from any race or ethnicity, but what they have in common is a religion of death that is dedicated to imposing Islam by stealth, by deceit and by force across the world. That same ideology has infused the culture of the Muslim world, its music, its heroes, its literature and its politics. A Muslim immigrant to the West carries it along with him, and if he does not, he is likely to become a member of a Wahhabi Mosque that does.

To ignore this and to remain silent about it, is to allow for the triumph of evil. There is no telling how many men and women remained silent as Nidal Hassan moved his way up through the ranks. There is no telling how many more Nidal Hassans there are in the military, in our schools and neighborhoods and all around the country. And the curtain of silence that surrounds them gives them ample room to plot and finally to act.

Silence on Islam kills. It kills because it turns every Muslim atrocity into a surprise attack that is quickly stifled, because Islam is the Cult of Death whose name we dare not speak. And as long as we dare not speak it, evil will triumph.

“It really doesn’t matter how President Obama divides the Afghan baby, how he splits the difference between McChrystal and Biden. Because the war has been lost,” Thompson said on his radio show today. “I say this because of one sad and simple fact. The president does not have the will and determination to do what’s necessary to win it. His heart’s not in it, and never has been. The Taliban knows it. Al Qaeda knows it. Our allies know it. And the American people know it.

Sad to say, but it’s probably true.  The only reason we’re still in Afghanistan at this point is because Obama hasn’t found a good way out without destroying any political capital he has left.

Somali Woman Stoned to Death After Being Convicted of Adultery

Nov. 18 (Bloomberg) — A Somali woman was stoned to death after being found guilty of adultery in breach of Islamic law.

Halima Ibrahim Abdirahman, a 29-year-old married woman, was executed after confessing to having had sex with a 20-year-old unmarried man, Sheikh Ibrahim Sheikh Abdirahman, the judge at her trial, told spectators at the execution yesterday at Eelboon in southern Somalia. Sheikh Ibrahim’s remarks were broadcast on Radio Hornafrik and monitored in the capital, Mogadishu.

The 20-year-old man, who was unidentified, was sentenced to 100 lashes, Sheikh Ibrahim said.

Most of southern and central Somalia is controlled by Islamist groups including al-Shabaab and Hisb-ul-Islam, following a two-year battle with the country’s Western-backed government. The Islamists are proponents of Shariah law, which operates under a code of Islamic principles first established in the Arab world by the prophet Muhammad in the seventh century.

In November 2008, a 13-year-old rape victim was stoned to death after being accused of adultery, according to Amnesty International, the London-based human rights group.
