ICNZ 17 and Grassroots was held at the North Shore Events Centre in Auckland on Saturday night. The show featured 3 title fights, pro fights, A and B Class bouts. the main event saw Forrest Goodwin defend his title against Philip Lindsay, with Forrest taking the win via rear naked choke in the first round after Philip had a close attempt on an armbar. Steve Warby took the Heavyweight title with a tko win over Matt Toa in the 3 round, Steven showed superior striking picking Matt apart over the fight, Matt showed great heart and toughness to almost take Steven the full distance. Here are the full results for Lockdown 4 and also a review of the show by Brent Downes Written by Brent Downes Once again the HAMMA arena played hope to Brisbane’s best submission grappling competition and only MMA-style submission grappling comp in a cage. Lockdown 4 saw competitors of all weights and abilities travel from all around to lock horns and display their talents in wrestling, submission grappling and ju-jitsu in what has fast become one of the hottest events on Brisbane’s MMA calendar.  The day saw some awesome displays of athleticism and talent as competitors engaged each other in some very stacked divisions with no shortage of talent or experience. Two of the enduring qualities of Lockdown are that there is an awesome standard of talent and that it offers the opportunity for enthusiasts and professionals to get in the cage and have a go in a safe and still highly competitive setting.  Lockdown 4 showcased that gyms and competitors are taking it seriously with wrestlers emerging with obvious signs that they have trained and drilled hard for the event, showcasing some supreme fits of fitness and skill. With some great referees and officials provided by MMAA, the safe atmosphere of the matches lets everyone compete on equal ground, which is probably the best part of Lockdown 4.  Lockdown 4 was a supremely smoothly run event, with great shows of submission grappling talent, athleticism and sportsmanship in a safe and competitive atmosphere.   If you haven’t yet got in to have a go, it’s not too late to start training for Lockdown 5 on July 28th.
