Imaginary Forces Creates Animated Logo For Vertigo: "Comics lovers are in for a visual treat when the new animated Vertigo logo is revealed today in front of the much-anticipated feature “V for Vendetta.” Created by Imaginary Forces (IF), the logo design was spearheaded by Creative/Art Director Ahmet Ahmet who worked closely with Founder/Creative Director Peter Frankfurt."

Vertigo, an imprint of graphic novels and comic books published by DC Comics, focuses on darker and more mature themes in its storytelling. Capturing a decadent mood, the Vertigo logo opens with the widely recognized blue-and-white DC Comics logo, which crumbles into a flock of ravens, mascot of the caliginous. The flock is then absorbed into the Vertigo logo, surrounded by an ominous blood-red smoke that fades into nothingness.

For Imaginary Forces, the Vertigo logo marks another successful collaboration with a DC Comics brand. “Vertigo is more grounded in the Edgar Allan Poe genre of the dark and supernatural so that is how we approached our design,” explains Ahmet. “Stylistically, we wanted the logo to be the antithesis of what DC Comics represented, which we achieved by using the ravens and the corrupted crumbling of the DC Comics logo. We went for a hand-drawn look with traditional brush techniques to maintain a more organic feel and to reflect the heritage of the Vertigo brand, a much darker side to DC Comics. Thematically, this is what we had to represent in the logo, but the client was very open to our stylistic approach.”

IESB has the scoop direct from Fox Film Group president Tom Rothman. Their coverage said, "Hugh Jackman recently alluded that the Wolverine spin off film may be a prequel, how accurate is that? Although he says he will get in trouble if he tells, just between him and her, yes it's a prequel."

SUPERMAN RETURNS

Actor Brandon Routh was interviewed by Fox News and spoke about the reasons behind the film's thesis and title. "It's nice to watch the character mature, rather than just to start over again," Routh said. IGN: Aquaman Trails Superman: "March 13, 2006 - Variety reports that, in order to tout the launch of their new TV series Mercy Reef, based on the DC Comics superhero Aquaman, the CW has turned for help from Warners' Man of Steel."

"It's expected that much of the CW's promo resources will be aimed at letting people know there's a new network in town -- with shows they already know and love," the trade claims.

Like a galaxy-wide plague of The Flood, the spread of Bungie's first-person shooter Halo into new forms of media appears nigh-unstoppable. Books and music CDs are already on store shelves, Peter Jackson is producing the feature film based on the license, and now Marvel Comics is bringing the license to comic books.

Marvel and Bungie today announced that the comics giant responsible for Spider-Man, the X-Men, and a host of other superheroes will be publishing a graphic novel anthology of tales set in the Halo universe. The 128-page full color volume is set for release in July.

Few details have been revealed about the stories included, but Marvel has said they will feature signature characters and weapons and be set against a backdrop involving the alien races of the Covenant and the Flood. I've watch the movie this morning and I must say this..It was a GREAT movie...and I recommend you to watch it too..

I never read the the Comic c [wriitten by alan Moore] before. So the first version of the V for Vendetta Story is from the movie... Then I do a little bit research and I found a good website that tells and comment more about the Story. I found out that the movie wasnt actually exactly the same as it in the comic. there's a BIT changes for those who are the fan of the V for Vendetta ... Its like Spidey dont use his web shooter in the movie by sam Raimi..

Ok..thats all for today's post... Actually, I'm experiencing too many headache lately..maybe its becaiuse of the weather here..its HOT...

Vendetta director James McTeigue recalls the pivotal shearing as just another day at work for the unflappable Portman, 24.

"The first time I saw her about the role, I had her put her hair behind her head because I wanted to see what she looked like bald. That was the only conversation we had about it,"

"She knew the day was coming. I put three cameras on her, made sure the clippers weren't stuck, and then we shaved her head. She loved it and kept rubbing her head."

That businesslike attitude is on display over an evening chat at the Mandarin Oriental hotel overlooking Central Park. Portman is a pixie in a short-sleeved, dark blue frilly blouse, skintight jeans and silver ballerina flats, her eyes heavily made up for a day of press. But V for Vendetta, which opens Friday, is the first glimpse of a flintier, feistier Portman. The film is based on the graphic novel of the same name, co-written by Alan Moore and David Lloyd, published 15 years ago.

Batman: Hush artist joins Sony Online Entertainment project, expected to serve as executive creative director.

Gamers who pick up the forthcoming massively multiplayer online game based on the DC Comics universe might recognize more than just the colorful assortment of crime fighters and villains. They might also recognize the work of comic artist Jim Lee behind that cast of characters.

DC Comics, Sony Online Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have announced that Lee has been brought on board their upcoming MMOG for next-generation consoles and the PC and is expected to serve as the game's executive creative director.

"Utilizing his outstanding and widely revered talent, Jim Lee's ground-breaking work on the DC MMO will help lend authenticity and strength to the game's design," WBI senior vice president Jason Hall said. "His iconic art style and creative direction will enhance the look and feel of the game overall."

For Lee's part, "massive" seems to be the key word when considering the possibilities of a massively multiplayer game set in the DC universe.

"What intrigues me most about the DC MMO is how we can continue to tell the great stories DC is known for in this new medium and look forward in particular to the challenge of perhaps one day, simultaneously bringing stories to life in both print and pixel form," Lee said. "True to their moniker, MMOs are massive undertakings and I look forward to working on the game and continuing to draw comics for many, many years to come at DC."

Lee, who first gained fame in the early '90s for his work on a pair of Marvel's X-Men comic titles, found acclaim at DC in 2003 with his work on Batman: Hush. He has since completed a stint on Superman and is currently working on All-Star Batman and Robin, the Boy Wonder.

For those not familiar with the term, this image was created with models used in the game. The developers place those models into a 3D program, add lighting and shadows, then render out an image to use as a goal. The game's programmers use this goal image as a visual reference to build towards as the game progresses - basically, this is what they want the game to look like.

Singer Shows More Footage of Superman Returns to Malaysian Journalists

Great!! ..Malaysian Journalist was mentioned in Superman Homepage !! :) (I am Malaysian :P) ..I wish I could be the ones who went to meet Brian Singer himself...but that would take the fun out of the movie right? here's from the Superman homepage :

Superman Homepage: "The Star Online eCentral website has posted a report from one of four Malaysian journalists who were given a sneak peek at new 'Superman Returns' footage during an interview with Bryan Singer in his LA studio.

The railway track rattles violently as the sounds of a train chugging away at an enormous speed fills the room. It's not going quite as fast as a speeding bullet, but you can tell that it's going way faster than it should. Suddenly, it crashes through a barrier, and misses a stop. As it approaches the next, you can see the station vibrating. Then someone falls onto the track, and the train runs him, or her, over.

Clark Kent (Brandon Routh) shares a paper with a stranger in an elevator in Superman Returns. It looks like Superman has made the headlines again.

The train just keeps circling the metropolis; its speed increasing and buildings are vibrating. Boom. Cut to a bunch of people standing on what looks like a subway platform. The floor cracks, then the wall splits in two. The group of people take a quick step to the side. They look at each other. Kevin Spacey, sorry, Lex Luthor, smirks.

The scene pauses. I turn to my left where Superman Returns director Bryan Singer is seated in the Warner Hollywood office in West Hollywood, California. He looks back, with the exact same smirk. You can tell he's quite happy with the looks of awe on our faces.

'Want to see more?' he asked.

We all thought that he was going to show us some drawings; after all, he had brought in a mock-up of the new Superman Returns poster just as we finished the interview. We followed him, our hearts thumping and not saying anything, as he led us into the room where we first heard the theme song come out of.

And there it was. On the huge television hooked up to the editing machines was a young Clark Kent running through the farm as he discovers his incredible powers. He takes a slight leap and ends up on a huge water tanker.

The look of shock on his face matched ours. We couldn't believe what we were watching. We were possibly the first few - if not the first Malaysians - to watch actual footage from the movie.

"You want to see more? Maybe I should show you ... nah, maybe not," Singer teased. Pause. "Oh, why not," he said as he dragged the mouse looking for another scene. He obviously knew what he was looking for. We, on the other hand, didn't know what else was in store.

Does Kevin Spacey have what it takes to play the ruthless Lex Luthor? We’ll just have to wait and see.

We heard a click only to see something flying across the screen. It wasn't a bird, but it sure was a plane ... heading to crash into a baseball field.

The look of horror on the faces of the people sitting in the stands was priceless (again, not unlike ours) until a swoosh flashed across the screen and something in blue and red grabbed hold of the nose of the plane and tried to slow it down as it dove towards the pitch. Would it crash?

Singer stopped the footage just before we could see if Superman had indeed saved the day.

In fact, we didn't get to see Superman doing much at all on screen.

But if the countless of hours of hard work that went into making the movie, the beautiful footage that we witnessed, and his passion for bringing the man with the red underpants back to the big screen after a 19-year absence was anything to go by, then we had already met Superman that day.
