With the help of an entire community of bartenders they were able to amass an inventory of empty bottles to repurpose and provide with a permanent ‘shelf life’. Two young designers from Turin have created Deformazione Professionale – a line of clever new furnishings made from old unwanted doors. Founders of Studio Lacrime D’Arte, Valentia and Riccardo Sartori have created a bookshelf and a chaise lounge by recycling a total of four doors. The doors take on new functionality and a fresh look while keeping their characteristic traits – the handles and locks are retained.

‘Just Desserts’ is a colorful cluster of glass lights made from recycled dessert bowls. UK-based designer Jay Watson created this intriguing lighting array by stringing up traditional glass bowls sourced from flea markets and second-hand shops. The lamps are set to make their official debut at Interiors LDN this May in London.

Naki’o, a mixed breed dog from Nebraska, has become the first dog fitted with four prosthetic limbs. This achievement was accomplished by US company Orthopets, which specializes in artificial pet limbs. Naki’o lost his limbs and part of his tail to frostbite when he was abandoned in a cellar as a puppy, but now, thanks to a successful operation, he can run and play freely like other dogs.

Marta Crass created this incredibly realistic cardboard camera without the use of any precision machining tools (like laser cutters or plotters). Measuring 6.5” x 4.5”, the replica camera is modeled after a 1960s-era Nikon camera given to Crass by her grandfather. Although it doesn’t take pictures, the beautifully crafted camera showcases the potential of recycled cardboard – and it can be yours for $150.

Color Collision is a collection of non-toxic ceramic tableware designed by Kirstie Van Noort and Rogier Arents. To achieve the unique colors seen above, the ceramic objects were first dyed with red cabbage and then soaked in various liquids with different PH levels. What came to be were beautiful, surprising, and one-of-a-kind pieces steeped in color.

The World Lamp is a new shop light that pairs energy-efficient LEDs with a clever collapsible design that packs flat to ship and can be easily assembled once it arrives. The World Lamp uses about half the energy of a conventional 4’ fluorescent shop light, and it weighs less than 2.5 lbs.
