Cut People Slack. We’re going to argue, get things wrong, and step on toes. Road rage happens because drivers aren’t face to face. The same happens online when all we see are avatars. Nonverbal cues, no matter how subtle, can carry a lot of weight—a lot more than emoticons can :)

This comes from a great post by Trent Walton that should be re-read every now and again.

As with many memes, the story behind all the Harlem Shake videos is just as interesting as the meme itself.

Had a great family day weekend in Whistler with friends.

I said grandma who did the Métis come from? She said, well grandson, it is a long story, she said. Well why is it so long, I said. Well she said, years ago the Métis was with the Indians all the time, we were always with the Indians up east there you know and they had lots of horses she said and they hobbled them she said and then she never said no more. Well I said what has that got to do with the Métis? Well, she said, you wouldn’t understand but maybe some day you will, she said if they would have hobbled their daughters instead of their horses, there wouldn’t be no Métis today…

Evan started school today. It was a quick day, only half an hour, but he has been waiting for it all summer. He has genuinely been excited to finally go to the big school in our neighbourhood, the one beside the park that he has played at his entire life.

He is in a multi-age class with kindergarten kids like himself, all the way up to a few second-graders. There will also be a child with severe special needs in his class. He will continue to learn to read and perform simple arithmetic, but he will also learn how to navigate a variety of social interactions. He will experience trust, fear, compassion, happiness, embarrassment and many other human emotions.

He’s ready. I hope I am too.

Dad sports skirt to support cross-dressing son

Dad sports skirt to support cross-dressing son:
As the father of a 5-year-old boy, of course I’m going to link to this story.
