Intersolar China is the new event for solar professionals looking to do business in the lucrative Chinese solar market. It has been designed from the ground up to offer new business contacts and networking opportunities for the international solar industry. During the three-day event, Intersolar China expects around 7,500 visitors, with more than 500 attendees expected to take part in the accompanying conference program.

Insight interAsia will attend the 3-day Asia Smart Grid 2011 expo, which is held 02-04 November. This expo is a key component of the Energy Week activities.

Many of our principals are highly interested in the growing smart grid value chain in Asia. This expo offers us an excellent opportunity to meet with companies, government labs, universities, and policymakers throughout the region.

The mission is being led by US ambassador to Singapore, David Adelman, and is organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore with assistance from AmCham Indonesia and the US embassy in Jakarta.

Insight interAsia has outstanding connections in Indonesia and we are looking forward to this opportunity to further enhance our network in that market. Indonesia is growing very rapidly and many of our clients and principals want to me more involved there. Thus, we will be investigating recent changes to importation laws, GAAP, and free trade zones.

We also had a booth in main hall and we enjoyed meeting many new contacts from North Carolina and around the world.

The NanoMatchGlobal event was a new addition to the COMS program and was particularly effective.

As Asia recovers from the global financial crisis, the patterns and nature of global and regional integration are changing. As Asia adapts to a new reality, it faces different issues and challenges which are arising from recent unexpected developments in the region and abroad.
Such challenges include the recent Japan earthquake and tsunami, which not only caused significant damage to the Japanese economy, but also had repercussions for trade and supply networks throughout Asia. The subsequent nuclear crisis also raised a crucial question about Asia’s energy security: how will Asian countries balance the urgent need for cheap energy with the time needed to implement effective safety standards?

ASEAN remains a complex and diverse community, and there are challenges facing continued ASEAN integration and cooperation. ASEAN countries continue to depend on larger Asian economies and ongoing intra-regional disputes further complicate cooperation efforts. As ASEAN and Asia find themselves taking on new roles in the coming decade, they must consider both the existing problems facing the region and the emerging issues which could influence trade growth, policy implementation and global cooperation.

It is with these issues in mind that the 4th ASEAN and Asia Forum will convene a dialogue of leading thinkers. They will share insights and perspectives on the region’s political economy, analyze the evolving global context, and identify opportunities for the future of ASEAN and Asia.
