Pray For The Less Fortunate

Jesus chastised the Pharisees from growing fat from the expense of widows. Matthew 23:14 reads:

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!

For you devour widows’ houses,

and for a pretense make long prayers.

Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.

Pray that our nation does what it can to continue to help the poor, the sick, and the lost. Being the faithful Nation that we are, you would think we knew by now that God would take care of our country's financial problems. But we have to continue doing His will for the less fortunate. Have we truly lost our faith? Surely we do not feel that a political party can solve our problems. Really??? God has not left us. We need only to seek Him as a Nation.

A Season of Testing

As human beings, our evaluation of whether things that happen to us are “good” or “bad”, “fair” or "unfair”, is always suspect. We cannot see as God sees. Therefore, what we think of as “bad" or “unfair” may actually be from the hand of God for our good.

Joseph spent time in prison for a crime that he did not commit. Yet Scripture says that he was placed there by the word of the Lord in order to test him and sift his character (Psalm 105:19). What looked like evil at the time was actually a part of God’s good plan, not only for Joseph, but for Joseph’s family and descendants.

In one way or another, God is testing you, as He tested Joseph and other people in the Bible. How are you responding to the test?

His Will Is Good

God's Will is Good, Acceptable and Perfect.

You know... sometimes you wonder why things are not happening the way you want them to. You feel as though God has forgotten about you. I had one of those moments last week. Oh, I'm good now... but I have to remind myself often that God has a plan for me and that His timing is perfect. In fact He has a plan and purpose for each one of us. So what did I do to pick my head up? I leaned on God, read His Word and listened to a song that ministered to my spirit.

One of my favorite songs throughout the years has always been The Will Of God which is featured on the Hezekiah Walker CD "Family Affair". It features the beautiful voice of Monique Walker with background vocals of The Love Fellowship Crusade Choir. I found the song on YouTube and thought I would share. The lyrics (shown below) are so powerful.

There are so many things about the will of God,

the things we don't understand because they seem so hard.

We try to find the way that seems to be just right,

but the way we choose only leads us further from the light.

But if we can learn to accept the things we cannot change,

and never question God for we'll never know His way.

Chorus:

We must accept what God allows,

and we must never try to tell Him how

to order our lives, He has a plan in mind.

He's the one who made you, created you,

saved you, and He knows what's best for you;

His will is good, it is acceptable, and it's perfect.

There are many things about

what God allows that we don't understand,

Good Friday - Is It Really All That Good?

Good Friday is quickly approaching. Celebrating the death of someone and calling it a good day is usually not good news. Every year we celebrate and reflect on a Friday that reminds us of a brutal death... The death of our Savior. So how is that so good?

It's not only good news, it's great news! Jesus was crucified so that we could stand right before God. Yes, that is good news!

Jesus said, "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends." -- John 15:13

Today is National Find A Rainbow Day!
After a week of temperatures in the 80 and 90s, it is raining here in Oklahoma City and I am loving it. Do you have rain in your city today? When it stops (and it will) don't forget to search for the rainbow. What a beautiful day to celebrate and reflect on the symbol God left us to remind us of his promise.

Genesis 9:12 - 17 -- 12 And God said: “This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you, and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: 13 I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. 14 It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud; 15 and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” 17 And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.”

Isn't it wonderful to know God loves us so much that he makes a promise and keeps it?

A rainbow is a dance between sunlight and water.

Video - Why I Hate Religion

I saw this video for the first time a few days ago, and apparently I am about the only one who had not viewed this video as it has already received over 20,000,000 hits. Of course when you read the title "Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus" you can't help but check it out. The spoken word poet, Jefferson Bethke basically wants us to realize that some religious acts do nothing for the spirit, soul or salvation. What really matters is the personal relationship with Christ from within. I do have to agree that we sometimes forget that it is not about all the things we should not do, but in the things we should do like feeding the poor, caring for the sick, and sheltering the homeless.

Hey... I had a very busy weekend. Inspirational Expressions was a participating vendor in the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., Southwest Regional Conference. The National Sorority of Delta Kappa Inc., is a professional organization of educators. I met a lot of wonderful ladies this weekend, and hope to be a part of their next conference. Thank you ladies for sharing your sister love with me this weekend.

Now back to the challenge. And yes, this will be a challenge for me. I am NOT a writer, but I do enjoy sharing inspirational and Christian related topics with others. I am NOT a writer, but being able to give Inspirational Expressions' customers more information about the gifts we offer is important. I am NOT a writer, but I enjoy giving away stuff. October Baby - A Movie About Forgiveness

A movie was in order this week and my selected choice was October Baby. Even though this movie is showing in only 390 locations, it came in at No. 8 this weekend earning $1.7 million according to Box Office Mojo. This was actually the film’s second release (March 23rd) as the movie was originally released in a few states this past October.

This film is about a college freshman named Hannah (Rachael Hendrix) who at the age of 19, learns that she not only is an adopted child, but also the survivor of an attempted abortion. The film takes us through the journey of Hannah’s search for her birth mother. During her journey she meets with Mary, (Jasmine Guy) a nurse from the hospital, who remembers very much the days leading up to and after Hannah’s birth. This visit ultimately leads Hannah to her birth mother, played by Shari Rigby.

This clean drama (no sex, no foul language and no violence) never judges. The topic of abortion in this movie is absolutely a great way to show the healing power of forgiveness. Yes, God can place beauty in a very painful experience. This film does not make the birth mother look bad for attempting an abortion, and Hannah does not display hatred toward her birth mother—just curiosity and the desire for answers. I really enjoyed this movie and you will too.

The producers of October Baby have assigned 10% of the profits of the movie to the Every Life is Beautiful Fund, which will distribute funds to frontline organizations helping women facing crisis pregnancies, life-affirming adoption agencies, and those caring for orphans. – Amen.
