Interested in learning more about the "bag tax," franchise goodwill, and electricity charges for retailers? Then check out the Retail Law Observer, a blog published by the folks at big firm Crowell & Moring. Their Retail Law Practice represents a broad spectrum of retail clients, including specialty retailers, department stores, and big-box retailers across the United States.

Blawg of the Day - Federal Eminent Domain Blog

The firm of Ackerman, Ackerman & Dynkowski publishes the Federal Eminent Domain Blog Despite the title, most of the posts I see are related to condemnation and eminent domain cases nationwide, and not just necessarily in those in federal court. Recent posts cover topics such as the "Wisconsin Blight Fight," inverse condemnation, federal utility condemnation, and more.

Blawg of the Day - Western Business Law Educator

To close out the week, I'm featuring a blog on an interesting niche topic, one that hasn't posted in about a month. It's the Western Business Law Educator, and it's about teaching U.S. business law in Russia. It's published by Steve Honig, a Boston lawyer with Duane Morris. Most of his posts seem to be about his experiences in Russia teaching, and it's more like a journal than a law blog - but it's still pretty interesting.

Today's blog is Law Firm Transitions, which aims to realign law firms around client needs. It's brought to you by Debra Baker, a principal with Legal Vertical Strategies. The blog was born out of the "belief that value-driven legal service models are the future for law firm. The purpose is to promote a broader discussion about generating real change in the way law firms and lawyers provide value to clients. Check it out.

Today we head down to Florida to visit the Florida Construction Law Authority. They're providing, as you might imagine, news and updates on legal issues facing the construction industry in Florida, with posts on construction defects, licensing, liens, lender liability, procurement, and more. It's published by the Fort Lauderdale firm of Becker & Poliakoff.

It's the second day in a row that I'm featuring a blog from a firm with Foley in the name - but this one is Foley & Lardner, and the blog is the Privacy & Security Source. It's designed as "an interactive forum exploring the latest legal developments and industry news," and you'll see posts here on behavioral advertising, cable privacy, FACTA, FCRA, geolocation, and a whole lot more.

Interesting: big firm Foley Hoag's Corporate Social Responsibility practice provides counsel to multinational companies, governments, and multilateral institutions regarding social, political, and environmental challenges, and provides advice on legal and reputational risk management on a host of issues. At Corporate Social Responsibility and the Law they're talking about such topics as "conflict minerals," business and human rights, and revenue transparency, among others.

Here's another construction law blog, and one that's publishing more frequently than yesterday's entry. It's the Construction Law Signal, and as you might expect it's providing insights and information on current and emerging developments affecting the construction industry. It's published by the Pennsylvania/New Jersey/Delaware/ West Virginia/Maryland firm of Cohen, Seglias, Pallas Greenhall & Furman. The topics discussed include bankruptcy, bidding, compliance, green building, insurance, project management, remedication, and infrastructure - all with a construction focus.

Today we have another entry in our series of "we wish you would post more often" blogs. Today it's the Real Estate & Construction Law Blog, which hasn't published much since the end of March. It's published by David Lindner of the Ohio firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs. When he was posting back in March, he was talking about sales and use tax in construction contracts, challenging real estate taxes, new market tax credits, and the cash deposit requirement, among other topics.

It's published by the worldwide firm Squire Sanders, and its goal is to foster discussion on news about and opinions issued by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, with an emphasis on cases pertaining to business interests. You'll find posts on such issues as the False Claims Act, judicial appointments, monopolies, telecommunications law, and a special "En Banc Watch."

A great blog to tell you about today - it's called Basis Points, and it "provides context and offers fresh (if irreverent) commentary on developments in today's restructuring, distressed debt and new investment markets. It's great to see an "irreverent" blog coming from a big firm like Bracewell & Giuliani - it's led by Blogger-in-Chief Evan Flaschen, and supported by a whole bunch of the firm's lawyers. You'll find information on recent court cases, deals, the environment, negotiations, and even some poetry.
