The Dwarf King's Hold Dead Rising Unboxing

Some basic things I love is board games and miniatures. So when these 2 are combined I'm super excited for it. So it's going to be a great day to take a look at Dwarf King's Hold: Dead Rising which is produced by Mantic Games! Let's take a closer look at this two player game.

The much anticipated Dwarf King's Hold board game is here! It sees the steadfast Dwarfs seek to reclaim their ancestral home from the living dead, venturing forth to fight the foul minions of the Necromancer who soil the noble halls of the Dwarf King’s Hold.

This is a 2 player, scenario based board game, with one player taking control of the Dwarfs, while the other commands the Undead. There are 6 scenarios to play through, each build upon each other, culminating in a huge, desperate battle which will ultimately decide who controls the King's Hold

Included in this game are over 25 plastic figures and lots of little extras that are fully usable within the game, such as the Dwarf Pit Dog, the dead Dwarf, piles of bones plus plenty of fun conversion bits. You also get a huge pile of fantastic looking dungeon tiles; an elegant, innovative Ruleset, loads of in-game action counters and more than enough dice to play!

I did really like the units and the style of it. But I'm still wondering which colors I should take. Also some part feel like they were neglected and not up to the quality. But in the end I've got them at a reasonable price since this series was cancelled. Anyways here's a look at the sprues and cards:

The Bretonnian Men At Arms with Halberds Unboxing

We're doing another unboxing today with these Bretonnian Men-At-Arms with Halberds from the Citadel miniature line of Games Workshop for a Warhammer Fantasy army. This box set contains 3 metal figures.

The finest warriors of the peasantry of Bretonnia are recruited by Knights to act as Men-at-Arms. Men-at-Arms are given a shield by their lord, and must provide weapons and armour for themselves, and thus the lord fulfils his duty to those under his charge.

It's really nice to handle this 'old school' miniatures and I like working with metal figures! The details are really nice and hopefully I can get some proper metal reflections:

The Gale Force Nine Products Overview

Here's another product overview, this time of some Gale Force Nine products. They're famous for a lot of tools you need for working with miniatures and especially for basing your miniature. They also have a nice line of gaming tables with different themes and focused around particular miniature games.

I mostly going to focus on a lot of the basing material which are the hobby scenics and as a bonus I have a few tools to show you. Gale Force Nine has a nice range of those with different types of foliage, grass, flocks and clumps. Some are themed or are season specific, some are grit others are rubble. There's enough of variation to make some great scenes. They're pretty handy for giving that extra detail to the base and give a nice touch to your battlefield.

The Egyptian Booster Pack Unboxing

I serve you this quick unboxing of this great Arcane Legions Booster Pack for your Egyptian army. This massive miniature game is published by Wells Expeditions, which announced they will no longer support the game as it's been cancelled. In these Booster Packs you're not quite sure what to expect, but there's a solid indication on what that might be on the box.

This Booster pack adds the power of seasoned leaders and specialized arcane units to your Egyptian Arcane Legions army. You get 1 rare Hero and 2 Rare/Uncommon specialty units for a total of 5 to 11 fully painted figures, plus 6 additional unit cards that use figures from the Booster Packs and Army Packs.

I really wondered what these Booster Packs are and I am a bit disappointed with it. Not only were the miniatures poorly painted, some cards were damaged and ripped apart, which doesn’t say much about the quality. Although I really like the details on the miniatures and I'm excited to get to know the game better. Also on the box it states that there will be 6 unit cards inside but only found 5. I'm hoping other Arcane Legions boxes will get me more excited! Here's a closer look at the unit cards:

The Future Of April 2012

Okay, so I've prepared some tutorials, but I'm still working on some details about it. I want to be good enough for every kind of painter, whether it’s an expert or a beginner. I've also received a high amount of new products and I'm working hard on a different channel which will be about games. So basically, InteractivePainting will be about miniature painting at first and occasionally I'll do a board game unboxing and probably a play through/review of these or miniature games. I'll see what suits me best.

For some other videos you can expect some smaller unboxings of some Games Workshop miniatures and some about Arcane Legions. Other than that I'll probably do another board game with some miniatures in it so that'll be great mix!

Oh yeah, the new 'channel' I've created is SomeTrueGaming and will focus on PC/Console/Handheld gaming. I do these in some spare time and thought it would be fun; at first I was thinking about uploading them all in InteractivePainting, but some may dislike that and I want miniatures to be the focus. I haven't recorded anything, I'm still working on some details. What I can say is that I will take part in Guild Wars 2 beta and do some videos about that. Other than that I'll do some focus on other games but more on that in the several months!

In my personal life I'm still studying but I'm trying hard to work ahead so I you probably can expect a new video every week. I'm focusing on doing 2 in one week. And 3 blogs a week, I don't want to spam to much at the moment 'cause I want it all the be fun and not feel like work or anything. I enjoy making these kind of videos, so I'll still be delivering them :)!

The Empire State Handgunners Unboxing

Hello there, I’ll be giving you a quick unboxing of these Warhammer Fantasy miniatures from Games Workshop Citadel Miniatures. These are the Empire State Handgunners. In this box you'll get this:

"Empire armies often include large numbers of missile troops, armed with either Handguns or Crossbows. These troops support the larger infantry units as either detachments or in larger units that form part of the battle line."

We can find 10 plastic miniatures with their bases and an information sheet. What I really liked was the little ape figure that comes on the champion. There are about 5 variations of miniatures you can make, which are:

The Quarriors! Unboxing

Today, we will have a look at this exciting board game called Quarriors! which is designed by Mike Elliot and Eric Lang and published by WizK!ds. This game is a deck building game but instead they’re using dice. The game is designed for 2-4 players for ages 14+ and takes about 30 minutes.

"Quarriors! A fast-paced game of hexahedron monster combat! You must strategically balance your options each turn: Do you use your Quiddity to summon Creatures in the hopes of scoring Glory or spend it all to capture more powerful Quarry from the wilds? Outmanoeuvre your opponents through strategic Spell use, the acquisition of powerful Quarry, and ultimately, by striking down your opponents’ Creatures to gain the most Glory!"

I really enjoyed myself unboxing this metal container because it's so great to look at. This is a masterful graphic design by Chris Raimo & J. Lonee. The only thing I was bothered by was some dice weren't that beautifully painted but it's understandable with the many dice included. This is what you’ll get:

The Vallejo Game Color Box Set

Today, I'm doing a quick product overview. I've bought myself some nice Vallejo Acrylicos paints and came across this Game Color Box. So I've looked for some information but I haven't found an overview of it. So thought it would be interesting to see some footage of it.

Anyways, I was suprised when opening the box to find 3 additional toray synthetic brushes, also a nice booklet with some additional information and the comparison table included. But the important part is of course the paints. There are 72 dropper bottles inside, mostely paints which includes a white primer and some varnishes, 3 to be exactly, and a glaze.

So these are the brushes that were included in the pack, which was definiatly a nice addon and a great starter set:

The only sad part I found was probably a 'production failure'. I've got 2 times #27 Scurvy Green, when I think it had to be #28 Dark Green. A production mistake, but I'll order that one separately. In the end I've got value for my well spend money and I'll be looking forward to using these one some great models!

The Warhammer 40,000: Assault On Black Reach

A month ago I ordered the Assault On Black Reach Box of the Warhammer 40,000 series. And it finally arrived. I'm really excited for them and looking forward to start painting these. I'm guessing it will be a lot of work but it will be worhted in the end! Warhammer is produced by Games Workshop. These miniatures feel really durable and show some very nice details. They describe the game as such:

"In the tabletop wargame of Warhammer 40,000, you and your friends fight battles over futuristic landscapes, using a mixture of strategy and luck to defeat your opponent. This boxed set allows you to defend the galaxy-spanning Imperium of Man with humanity’s ultimate warriors, the Space Marines, or crush all before you with the savage and barbaric Orks, the most warlike aliens in the 41st Millennium."

It's a really big box and there's a lot of stuff I find very interesting. I think it's a great starter set for an army and really enjoyable to see. Other than that it's a big rule book, so I'm guessing it hard to learn, but I'm hoping you can have a nice game with some basics. This is the conents of the box:

The Space Marines:

In the rulebook you'll find a lot of information about the the armies, this is how Space Marines are described: "Space Marines are superhuman warriors - the ultimate defenders of Mankind. The Space Marina army is an elite force with all manner of weaponry and tactics at its command. Each Space Marine is armed with the deadliest of weapons and clad in impenetrable power armour, making it equally formidable in attack or defence. Space Marines are incredibly adept at all forms of combat. They are very hard to kill, and almost never retreat. Though the Space Marine army will always be outnumbered by the foe, each Space Marine model is equal of two or three enemies, whether in a furious firefight or a bloody close assault." The Space Marines have following 17 men:

The Orks:

Also Orks have a description in the rulebook: "Orks are a barbaric and warlike race – they live only to fight. An Ork player will win his battles through sheer weight of numbers, swiftly overwhelming a more disciplined enemy army in and endless tide. Orks are poor shots, so while most carry a firearm of some sort, this is more for the noise it makes than for any real hope of killing the foe. It is in hand-to-hand combat that the Orks are at their most formidable. If the Ork player can get enough greenskins through the hail of enemy fire, he can easily slaughter the foe in a flurry of brutal blows." Your Ork army of 29 miniatures will contain these minatures:

The Future of March 2012

In March you can expect more exciting unboxing videos. I'm still waiting on a lot of material, which had a bad delay, before I can begin making proper tutorials. Anyways, I have conformation about the Warhammer 40k: Assault on Black Reach miniatures that are on their way (:, so that's great to look forward to! Also I've been working on the Skarrd Warband miniatures of Dark Age, which I did an unboxing of some time ago. I've also got my hands on some Warhammer Fantasy boxes which look great! But that's not all I will be exploring other brands like: Avatars of Wars, Scibor Miniatures & many more!

I'm hoping to do some basic assembling as removing some flash and molded lines. Of course there will be some magnetizing of miniatures involved. Other than that I've got some Gale Force Nine products that I want to use, so I can do some basing if I get some miniatures done.

Other than that, I've got my hand on a lot of products I'll use and I could do some overview of these products. They'll probably be about Gale Force Nine flocks and static grasses and Vallejo paints. I will also be looking into my first board game video, as I think it will be enjoyed as well. Which one it is, you'll just have to find out ^^! *Ribbit*. And as last I will look into some history articles about the miniature producing companies.

The Skarrd Warband Unboxing

Today we have another unboxing which is a bit more evil themed. And something I will be looking forward to paint. But first I have to say sorry for a bit of delay, I'm still waiting for my pinning set to arrive. But I'm guessing I'll check out the local hobby shop. The good news is I've got a load of unboxing videos to make, one of which is Warhammer 40,000: Assault On Black Reach. Since these miniatures are a bit easier to begin with, I'll start on those sprues and erase some flash and maybe do some basic assembling and magnetizing.

Anyways, this Dark Age box is called Skarrd Warband. It features 8 metal figures, their character cards and of course some bases. The one thing I'm really missing is some explanation of these cards and basic rules. But I've found some on their official website: here. These are the character which you can find in the box:

- 1 Golab

- 1 Grafter

- 3 Buzz Blades, upgradeable to Charity's Zeals

- 3 Harpies

Golab comes on a big base, the Buzz Blades are placed on the medium bases and the harpies and grafter need the smaller ones. So as I've mentioned this box expresses evil and come with some pretty strong characters. Dark Age game describes the Skarrd faction as this: "Prowling the Northern wastes the cannibalistic Skarrd have sworn vengeance, that can only be paid with blood."

I'm very surprised by these miniatures. Only the swords were a bit bend which I will have to get them straight enough. Also I'm wondering how the harpies will look once assembled, and I think they're my favorite ones of this box set. Although the Buzz Blade shields look very cool as well. The Viktorias Unboxing

In my first unboxing I’ll be covering the Malifaux miniatures series produced by Wyrd Miniatures. This Outcast box set is called “The Viktorias”, which features 5 metal figures, their respective character cards and their small bases. These are the characters:

- Viktoria Bounty Hunter

- Viktoria Swordsmistress

- Bishop

- Taelor

- Renegade Steamfitter Johan

So the focus with the box set is on weapons like swords and pistols. They’re also steampunky and basically mercenaries which are described in the Malifaux world like this: “Seeking excitement and money, many Malifaux arrivals have entered the mercenary profession to survive. While they will fight for the highest bidder, Viktoria, Taelor, Bishop and Johan are companions who often join forces for common goals. Their power together has given them all reputations amongst their foes, particularly the Guild, which represents the authority that they escaped Earthside. Using powerful weapons, these soldiers of fortune do not seek magic of Malifaux or to consort with its ancient gods, they merely want to live on their terms and be remembered for it.”

My first impression with these miniatures of the outcasts faction is that they’re metal, which was a surprise. I thought they would be bigger, but it’s not I can’t handle it though :). Also I’ve noticed some flash here and there and the accessories, like the swords are a bit bent, so they will need some work. I will be painting my first miniature and I’m thinking I will choose Viktoria The Bounty Hunter as it seems the easiest to paint. Anyways so here’s an in depth look at the characters:

The Intros

I've been working hard on some new videos, so expect an unboxing video this weekend. Anyways, to go with that I've been creating this graphic style to be more coherent with my social media accounts, so because of that I present you these different intros I've made. I could be making some minor adjustments, so any suggestions are more than welcome!

So as you know the Warhammer 40,000k: Assault On Black Reach hasn't arrived yet, but I've got the Malifaux and Dark Age miniatures, I'll decide which one I'll take on first. Yeah, I was preparing for the Assault On Black Reach because there easier to paint, but I guess I'll have to take a challenge. Which one I'll begin with first is still a suprise and you'll probably see it on Sunday! Thanks for watching (= !

The Camera Set-up

Okay, so here's how I'll be making videos. First I've thought of trying to put my camera, which is a Sony CyberShot DSC-WX7, on a tripod behind me but I thought with some nice easy tools lying around I could get a better top view. So that would benefit the whole concept as you would see my view.

I used some tape and a rail to stick those two together on one end. The other end I'll be using to set a height and keep it steady. Like with unboxing videos it should be higher and with painting videos it would be nice to have a closer look. But now it's all trial and error stage. Because I'm filming in Full HD 1080i and have 8GB Class 10 SD cards, which can film about 45 minutes with. Also I had some experience with a low battery. So hopefully I'll get that worked out, so I have to be fully prepared.

In the end I'm satisfied with the complete result and I think it's about the right angle. After filming, I'll edit all of it, add some background music to it and adjust my voice to the video. On top of that some handy overlays so it's easy to follow. And the last step is of course to render the whole thing and upload it to YouTube, where I'll probably add information and annotations. So filming is pretty much an easy step for me. Here's a picture, taken with my smartphone, of how everything looks and I found a good use for my old National Geographic Magazines (:!

Anyways, got my new package in the mail, which is still part 1 of my order. So there are still some other useful things on their way, but I can get going and produce some unboxing videos. No Warhammer 40.000k yet, but the Malifaux and Dark Age miniatures where in it, so it's something. I'll have a video on it really soon! I’m hoping for a good result and video this week, it will all depend on the upload speed and the time that all will take!

The Equivalent Chart: Part II

This time we're going to compare the Vallejo Game Colors and Inks with Rackham paints and the Reaper Master Series. I will be honest, if it was easier to get the Reaper Master Series here in Europe, I would've preferred them over VGC, not that there's so much difference, it's a taste. The Reaper Master series come in the same 17ml dropper bottles as the Vallejo ones. The Rackham paints are, unfortunately, no longer available.

On a side not, I haven't invested much interest in the Coat D'Arms paint or any P3 paints, because I see them as more paints I would be using for historical war games and miniatures, that's what I imply when I their color range. That of course doesn’t mean these aren't good paint, on the contrary, they will do the job as well but you'll have to mix and match more.

The Equivalent Chart: Part I

Because some of you may want to paint in the same colors, I have made an equivalent chart so you could compare the Vallejo Game Color (VGC) and inks versus other brands. This is all based on the Vallejo Reference Chart on their official website. In the 1st part we're going to compare the VGCs to the Citadel paints (produced by Game Workshop) and Vallejo Model Colors.

Personally and economically I’ve chosen for Vallejo Game Color, because they come in nice dropper bottles of 17ml and are cheaper than the12ml Citadel Foundation colors, which are nice as well. The Vallejo line is also bigger and Games Workshop also cancelled several different colors, which I stroked through.

Normally if a color doesn’t exist you could definitely try to mix and match. And you could also use your own personal matches of favorite colors. I’ll be going into color theory some other time.

The Future of February 2012

I thought it would be fun to give you a heads up on what's coming to you. It's not final so it could be more and could be less, depending on how much time I'll have, but I think it's good to have a basic idea and goal what to expect from me in February.

I'll be making an equivalent chart with the Vallejo Game Color paints and inks I'll be using on my miniatures, because I think it will be essential for some people who want to follow my color scheme. I'll be comparing them to the Vallejo Model Colors, Citadel colors, Reaper Master Series and Rackham colors. If I found some more paints worth mentioning I'll add them later on because I'm going be talking about the history as well.

I'm hoping to get my stuff this month, like my paints and miniatures and as I'm receiving them I'll do some unboxing of the Warhammer 40000: Assault On Black Reach and my set-up for filming it (: so you could do some nice videos as well! I'm going to discuss in-depth information about Games Workshop and their miniature lines.

So basically when I get my stuff and set-up together I’ll be covering my first videos about priming, assembling and magnetizing miniature, but that probably will be in March.

The Beginning

I would like to welcome you to my blog. This blog will be mainly about how to paint miniatures. These will come in different forms but especially in interactive videos published on YouTube. We'll discuss the product from the unboxing to the whole painted figure. Additional pictures will be uploaded on this blog, including nice close-ups.

So, what are you getting? I'll be covering mostly the basics, as I'm also new to painting miniatures and I have no experience whatsoever, except maybe those in kindergarten (: . Anyways, I'll be handling very different brands (Warhammer, Malifaux, Freebooter, Warmachines, Avatars of war and many more) of miniatures, painting styles and some basic elements you can do. For example magnetizing your miniature, create some exciting bases for it and priming your miniatures. The more I'll paint, the more I'll get the hang of it and maybe try out some advanced techniques with airbrushes.
