It has made some recent changes that have me questioning its future, but I still can’t deny how useful the site is for recruiters and networkers alike.





Here is my short list of tips on how to use LinkedIn for recruiting:



1. Accept ALL invitations to connect - There are arguments for and against this and quality vs. quantity, but as a recruiter, the true value of your network is measured by its size – bigger IS better. You never know when that invitation is going to connect you to that very private Sr. Executive that no one else is connected to.

With a little help from the Government, Labor Unions and Hard working Americans the economy began to expand resulting in the growth of businesses, confident consumers  purchasing an every expanding variety of goods/services and most of us smiling all the way to the bank. The quality of life for the middle class was shining brightly for a few DECADES.

FYI to those who think mailing (sic:resumes) isn't worth it: I just mailed 217 covers/resumes to recruiting offices in the Midwest. I've received more calls, e-mails and one on one service in the last 10 days than I did in the whole first 5 months of my search. Think about it...you don't just drop into the electronic void, they have to contact you and request the electronic copy. Have to say mailing worked great for me.

Once at the interview, you are going to be asked a lot of questions by your potential employer.  They will ask about you in particular such as what your strengths and weaknesses are.  You might want to prepare for answering questions by listing some of your attributes. Talk to former co-workers with whom you worked closely. Ask them to list some traits about you that they most admired -- work related, of course.

Try to find some faults as well. You won't, obviously, spontaneously tell a prospective employer about these faults, but you may be...&lt;br/&gt;

Not this time around. Steep manufacturing cuts have hit older workers particularly hard. And even in workplaces where seniority still provides protection, older men have less of it than they used to; only 44% of male workers aged 58 to 62 work for the same employer they were with at age 50, down from 70% 25 years ago.
