The great thing about this changing pad cover how-to is there is no top stitching, so if you aren’t great at sewing, no one will see your crooked stitches. It’s simple, I promise. Get the full tutorial after the jump.
Let’s face it: A clothes hamper is not the sexiest piece of furniture you’ll ever own. But that’s no excuse for using a tired old canvas bag or an open-top basket to stash your dirty duds. We were pleased to find lots of hampers with furniture-like details on the market—so much so that it inspired us to make a hamper similar to the one shown here. The top and sides are simply stock beadboard plywood framed with 1x material. For the hamper’s floor, we scrounged up a scrap piece of regular plywood; if you don’t have one, just use beadboard instead.

I have never enjoyed sleeping with sheets and blankets, I’m a doona/duvet girl all the way. So now that Emma has graduated to a toddler bed I thought it was time she had a duvet of her own. I have quite bad dust mite allergies which improved once I started using a wool filled duvet, but I really struggled finding a toddler duvet for Emma that wasn’t feather or cheap polyfill. What to do?

Then I had a brain wave…make my own.

My abuelita Mery created the world’s best yarn knitted hangers. How could she not, she made em’ day + night for the entire family. I swear she could hold a Guinness record for speed + amount made in a lifetime. She was fierce.

Mine were pink, to match my ballerina room of course. I loved them then. I love them even more now.

Oh yeah, I still got my bubblegum pink hangers, here, featuring my favorite pieces, cuz they make my clothes look pretty, but even better that that, my spaghetti straps never fall + my sleeved dresses never widen. It’s a granny’s wardrobe secret that I’m spilling today. That’s what happens when you’re a good apprentice (wink).

Excerpt:
Cheater is such an ugly word for such a beautiful thing. Cheater quilts are a perfect project for new sewists or folks with little time for craftiness. Featuring fabric designed and printed to look like patchwork or applique, a cheater quilt allows you to skip the huge task of doing piecework on a quilt. All you have to do is quilt and bind. I quilted this lovely baby quilt in about 30 minutes. All that’s left to do is bind it, which can be done quickly on the machine or heirloom quality by hand. Stay tuned for upcoming posts on the different ways to bind a quilt.
