Menginstall NameBench di Linux
1. Jika anda menggunakan Debian/Ubuntu, silakan install paket Python-tk jika belum ada dengan perintah sudo apt-get install python-tk. Silakan download paket TGZ dari Namebench dari sini http://namebench.googlecode.com/files/namebench-1.1.tgz

2. Kemudian ekstrak file download tersebut dengan perintah tar xzvf namebench-1.1.tgz.

3. Pada direktori namebench-1.1, silakan klik ganda file namebench.py untuk menjalankan aplikasi ini atau jika ingin secara permanen menginstallnya silakan masuk terminal dan jalankan perintah pada direktori tersebut:
sudo python setup.py install

Tampilan saat aplikasi ini dijalankan:

Hasilnya sendiri akan dibandingkan dengan DNS milik Google dan kemudian membandingkan kembali dengan setting DNS yang dimasukkan. DNS tercepat terdekat akan berada paling atas daftar.

How to Securing PostfixAdmin

Intipadi.com – Many administrators who use Postfixadmin, a web based tool to manage virtual domains on Postfix, would like to secure the transactions between the PostfixAdmin program and the administrator. At the same time often you do not want to add the extra burden of SSL on the whole domain but just want to secure one directory. The solution is to create a certificate for that one directory only and also locking that directory with a password so only administrators can gain access. The example is on an Ubuntu 9.10 server, which will be very similar to most server procedures.

Enable the SSL module using the “a2enmod” command.
sudo a2enmod ssl
Module ssl installed; run /etc/init.d/apache2 force-reload to enable.

SSL Security with Apache
The next thing you’ll need for this is a server certificate. There are two ways to get one. You can either create your own self-signed certificate, or you can request one from a commercial Certificate Authority. A self-signed one will work fine if you’re just using it for your organization’s internal operations. But, if you’re dealing with the public, you’ll want a commercial certificate that verifies that you are who you say you are.
SSL, Secure Sockets Layer, is a protocol or language that is used to encrypt communication between clients and servers. This type of communication is necessary when transporting sensitive information like credit card processing or administrator passwords.

SSL is a protocol that uses TCP/IP on behalf of the higher-level protocols like HTTP. This protocol allows a SSL-enabled server to authenticate itself to a SSL-enabled client. In order to use SSL the client must request a connection on port 443 instead of the typical port 80 used by a web browser.

For either self signed or a commercial type of certificate, you’ll first need to create an encryption key:

If you need a commercial certificate, you’ll now send this request to a commercial CA. If you’re creating your own self-signed certificate, you’ll use this request in the next step:

Now, you’ll need to install the key and certificate by copying them to the appropriate directories:
sudo cp server.crt /etc/ssl/certs

Open the /etc/apache2/sites-available/your_site_file for editing. In the “Virtual Host” section, under the “DocumentRoot” line, modify the following lines:
DocumentRoot /var/www/my_website/postfixadmin

The goal is to impact only the postfixadmin directory of your site so that users can normally go to the other locations without knowing that the postixadmiin directory location is different.

Save and exit.

Enable the default SSL site:
Or enable your site. Remember if you are using virtual hosting you will have to use IP Based virtual hosting to assign the SSL to an IP Address.

After all of this is done, restart Apache:
service apache2 restart

Now that you’ve installed the private encryption key, you’ll need to supply your passphrase every time you start or restart Apache. Once you get the “https” prefix right, you’ll get this if you’re using a self-signed certificate. You will have the choice to accept or reject the self-signed certificate.

You can accept the certificate, but you’re not through yet. There’s also the little detail of having a domain name on the certificate that doesn’t match the URL. You can choose to view the certificate before deciding whether to accept or reject it.

You can see from the example above that the attempt to connect using regular http will not allow a connection but also you can see that if you type https://ubmail.example.com/postfixadmin it sends you to a secure login for the postfixadmin and you can use it securely.

Password Protected Directory
Now lock down the directory so only and administrator with a password can get access.
Apache provides Password Authentication to directories using the htpasswd program. The first thing that needs to be done is to decide on where to place these password files. It is important that they are not placed in areas that are easily accessed as they should only be read by apache. It is probably best to place them in the /etc/apache2 directory. You may even want to create a separate more secure directory called within /etc/apache2. Use the htpasswd program to initialize a file for sales for example:
sudo htpasswd -c /etc/apache2/postfixadmin tom

The program will request a password and then to confirm the password. The -c option creates the file so DO NOT USE IT THE SECOND TIME!!!! If you do it will wipe out the first users you placed in the file. The password file will contain passwords for any number of people you want to have access to this folder. For example if you wanted to add mary later you would use this command:
sudo htpasswd /etc/apache2/postfixadmin mary

The next step is to make sure the permissions are correct on the password files. Change the owner to apache and change permissions to 600.
chown www-data:www-data postfixadmin

The owner and group were changed to www-data. Note you will need to verify these permissions each time changes are made to the file.
chmod 600 postfixadmin

Now the file rights are rw for the owner and nothing for group or other. This is an important setting.

Once a password file has been created, the directory that needs to be protected should be setup in the config file for your web server. The Directory directive is used to create the context of the file by using:

The first line shows which directory the password will protect.

The second line determines the kind of authentication, which is Basic.
AuthType Basic

The AuthName will show on the login this text string to verify which group should use this directory.
AuthName “Admin Group”

The AuthUserFile is the file location for the password file.
AuthUserFile /etc/apache2/postfixadmin

Each user of the directory may be determined with specific listing of the user name and the inclusion of that password in the /etc/apache2/postfixadmin password file. “require user” will mandate that no one will be able to use this directory except those users listed. require user tom jane mary joe If there were a lot of people using the directory one password could be given to all users in the admin group for example.

Once you have saved this restart apache and then you can see below that now not only is it encrypted but users have to have a password to access the directory.

Sourceforge Akhirnya Mematikan Blokade Akses dari Iran, Korea, Cuba dll

Intipadi.com – Situs hosting project Opensource terkemuka, Sourceforge, baru saja mengumumkan bahwa blokade akses situs mereka dari negara-negara “blanket block” telah dimatikan. Negara-negara yang dimaksud itu antara lain Kuba, Iran, Korea Utara, Sudan dan Syria.

Kebijakan baru ini ditempuh Sourceforge pada akhir Januari kemarin sejak mereka mulai concern dengan komplain regulasi ekspor produk-produk AS kepada mereka. Kebijakan “blanket block” diganti dengan kebijakan baru yang memberikan fasilitas kepada administrator dan pemilik project untuk memilih apakah mengikuti kebijakan eksport AS atau tidak.

Secara default, semua project akan pada posisi restricted, tapi para pemilik dan administrator Project dapat mengubahnya dengan menu Develop->Project Admin->Project Setting dan pilih “Export Control”. Dengan mencentang box yang menyatakan bahwa project bebas dari kendali eksport atau larangan lain sehingga project akan dapat diakses oleh seluruh negara, termasuk yang terdapat dalam daftar kendali eksport.

Mekanisme baru yang dijalankan oleh Sourceforge memang diklaim akan menjaga posisi perusahaan ini dimata hukum negara AS, namun intinya hanya menggeser tanggung jawab hukum dari Sourceforge ke masing-masing pemilik/administrator project.

Archos merilis distro linux full untuk Android tablet

New York, Intipadi.com – Produsen Media player terkemuka, Archos, baru saja merilis sebuah distro linux yang akan ekslusif dijalankan pada perangkat terbarunya Archos 5.

Menariknya, Archos 5 akan menjadikan Android sebagai standart OS. Selain itu, Archos juga merilis versi opensourcenya dengan membundlenya khusus untuk perangkat embedded sebagai Angstrom Linux. Rencananya Angstrome linux inilah yang akan menggantikan OS Google yang mereka pakai itu.

Lebih jauh Archos mengatakan bahwa Angstrom hanyalah sebuah “Special developer edition firmware” dan mewanti-wanti para penggunanya nanti bahwa sistem operasi tersebut lebih banyak memuat software-software “proof-of-concept” yang mereka ingin tanamkan.

Angstrom sendiri mulai diporting ke platform hardware Archos sejak tahun 2009, namun baru tahun ini Archos merilis OS besutan mereka sendiri ini untuk para penggunanya. Angstrom dikembangkan spesial untuk perangkat genggam, set-top boxes dan sejenisnya.

Archos juga berencana untuk memberikan firmware sebagai salah satu update software standard dalam waktu dekat, namun firmware baru ini akan menghapus OS Android dan OS Archos Media Software yang lama.

NB. Android dapat di restore ulang dengan memboot Archos 5 pada mode USB Mass Storage dan salin saja firmware AOS dari PC ke Archos 5.

Jailbreaking iPhone 3.1.3 IPSW with PwnageTool 3.1.5

Intipadi.com – With the PwnageTool app now updated for Mac OS X users, most of the iPhone Dev Team’s set of jailbreak and unlock tools now supports iPhone firmware 3.1.3, the latest update from Apple. Although Softpedia does not condone jailbreaking, those who do wish to employ these tools and hack their iPhones should at least follow a few guidelines, so they don’t brick their devices.

“If you really truly feel that you need to update, [PwnageTool 3.1.5] creates a custom 3.1.3 IPSW for you to restore to on your iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS with early bootrom, iPod touch 1G, and iPod touch 2G with early bootrom,” the iPhone Dev Team says in its recent blog post.

“If you don’t know if you have an early bootrom or not, please avoid updating until you learn more [...] If you have an iPhone 3GS, PwnageTool works if you’re currently at version 3.1.2 or below (down to 3.0). [...] Don’t use PwnageTool on the iPhone 3GS if you’re at 3.1.3, it just won’t work (you will need to downgrade to 3.1.2).” “Also, if you use the blacksn0w unlock (currently at baseband 05.11.07), you will need to stay at 3.1.2,” according to the infamous team of hackers.

With that out of the way, the steps to follow should ensure the proper jailbreaking of a first-generation iPhone for firmware version 3.1.3. The steps are similar for the other devices supported by PwnageTool, with few differences. This guide doesn’t include instructions on how to unlock your device at 3.1.3. If you’re already unlocked, PwnageTool will preserve it for you as you restore using your custom firmware IPSW bundle (it doesn’t update the phone’s baseband). If you do plan to unlock after jailbreaking, you will need to ensure there’s a wireless Internet connection you can hook up to. PwnageTool only does the jailbreak part, and installs Cydia, which allows you to download BootNeuter, install it, and use it to unlock. Ok, let’s move on to the actual jailbreak steps.

1 – First off, users need to download their tools:
- PwnageTool 3.1.5;
- iPhone1,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw.

2 – Fire up PwnageTool and select your device (as noted above, this tutorial is good word for word only with first-gen iPhones).

3 – By default, PwnageTool will move forward in simple mode attempting to find that iPhone 3.1.3 firmware you were supposed to download, according to step 1. If it can’t find it, you will be asked to browse your computer’s hard drive and select it yourself. Make sure it is listed exactly as the one shown in the screenshot below.

4 – After hitting the right arrow to move on to the next phase, PwnageTool will ask you if you want to continue with the procedure. Hit “yes,” if you’re feeling confident that you want to jailbreak, or “no,” if you decide that buying everything fair and square from the iTunes store is your thing. By choosing “yes” you continue with the jailbreak process. PwnageTool will also ask you if you have an iPhone contract that would activate normally through iTunes, meaning you wouldn’t have to unlock as well, afterwards. If you don’t, or if you’re not sure, hit “no,” as instructed, and click the arrow.

Note: during this step, PwnageTool may also ask you to provide a couple of extra files (bootloaders), which it needs in order to complete the jailbreak process. If you don’t have them lying around, go looking for them on the Internet as instructed by the software. They’re pretty easy to find and all you need to do is download them to your desktop. PwnageTool will then recognize them automatically and continue with the jailbreak process.

5 – This step involves some waiting time. Just sit back and wait as PwnageTool creates your custom (jailbroken) IPSW restore file. During this step, the application will require you to type in your administrator password, if that’s how your computer is set up.

6 – Before showing the “success” screen, PwnageTool will have a couple more things to say to you, as shown below. For the first dialog, choose based on the knowledge of your previous actions. Do as instructed, according to the second.

7 – For this step, you need to connect your iPhone to your computer (using the USB cable it shipped with). Hit the right-arrow button again to finish, and then hit the DFU button above. You will be shown how to enter DFU mode. Pay great attention to the steps here, as they involve some timely actions. If you don’t succeed at first, don’t worry, you can retry entering DFU mode.

8 – This is the last step. If everything has gone right up to this point, you’re minutes away from having a jailbroken iPhone. Launch iTunes (which needs to be at least version 9.0) and allow it to recognize your device. If you’ve successfully completed step 7 (DFU mode), iTunes should pop up a dialog saying it has found a phone in recovery mode, advising you to restore it. Hit “ok.” You now need to restore to the custom firmware bundle created by PwnageTool and placed on your desktop. Hold ALT (option key) and click “restore” in iTunes. The application will prompt you to select the firmware bundle you want to restore to. In this case, it will be “iPhone1,1_3.1.3_7E18_Custom_Restore.ipsw.” Select it and continue.

At this point, your new custom firmware is being installed, so all you have to do is wait for it to complete the process and reboot your phone. Depending on a number of factors (system specs, etc.), this last step may take somewhere between four and six minutes.

Intipadi.com – The LTSP-Cluster project is proud to announce that its website is now on-line. LTSP-Cluster is a project to extend LTSP (Linux Terminal Server Project) with the required components for a large scale deployment. It makes it easy to deploy and manage thousands of thin clients connecting to a cluster of Linux or Windows application servers.

The LTSP-Cluster team works very closely with the main LTSP project so the required hooks are included directly in stock LTSP. On top of that, the required load-balancing components, various daemons and a web interface have been developped to add the clustering functionalities.

The LTSP-Cluster packages have been included in Ubuntu in the Karmic development cycle by Jonathan and have already been used for a few large LTSP deployments.

All of these components have been developed by Revolution Linux and integrated with the help of upstream LTSP developers. They are all freely available under a GPLv3+ license.

Existing LTSP users considering to extend their current setup and wanting an easier way to manage it should definitely have a look at it.

BIOS flashing for Linux

Intipadi.com – Since the release of its previous version in May 2009, at least 30 additional flash chip families and half a dozen variants for each family are now being supported by Flashrom.

Flashrom allows users to perform BIOS, EFI, coreboot, or firmware flashes without having to undergo sophisticated boot procedures that require bootable floppy disks/CD-ROMs or even opening the computer’s casing. We first featured flashrom here in an article entitled BIOS flashing comes to Linux at last. If you have no idea what flashrom is, that article can help you grasp the basics.

While there are other vendor flash tools out there, flashrom is touted to be faster.

Aside from Linux (which flashrom already has binary packages for Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Gentoo, Mandriva, and openSUSE) flashrom already supports FreeBSD, DragonFly, Nexenta, Solaris, and even Mac OS X.

Carl-Daniel Hilfinger, one of the lead developers of flashrom, however, does not yet recommend using flashrom for laptops since “laptops share their flash chip between the main CPU and an undocumented embedded controller which may crash the machine during flashing.” But he assures that this limitation will be addressed once they get a hold of the documents for those embedded controllers.

First-timers, be warned. Despite the success of many users, flashing ROMs is still considered a risky exercise. If you decide to go ahead and try flashrom anyway but things go awry, you may seek help through IRC #flashrom on irc.freenode.net or through the flashrom mailing list here http://flashrom.org/Mailinglist.

Intipadi.com – Tips jaman dulu tapi masih layak dishare disini. Kita akan mencoba membuat feed RSS kita langsung menuju ke akun Feedburner kita. So, Feedburner yang telah terdaftar di adsense Google juga bisa ikut berkontribusi mendatangkan recehan. OK.

SImple, cukup buka dan edit file .htaccess yang ada di direktori root/akar blog anda. Dia berada satu tempat dengan file index.php dan wp-config.php. Tambahkan baris berikut:

Intipadi.com – Komentar dan trackback pada dasarnya adalah dua hal yang berbeda konsep. Tapi, secara default trackback dianggap oleh Wordpress sebagai komentar. How, bagaimana kalau kita pisah saja!

Caranya dengan mengedit file comments.php themes aktif kita. Cari saja baris berikut disana:

Ganti saja sampai dia berbentuk demikian saudara-saudara:

Intipadi.com – Kebanyakan blog wordpress menampilkan komentar-komentar yang masuk dengan urutan dari yang paling lawas sampai ke yang paling baru. Nah, beberapa diantaranya ada yang unik. Mereka memasang komentar baru dipaling atas kemudian urut sampai ke yang paling lama. Bagaiamana caranya?

Caranya dengan menggunakan fungsi bawaan PHP yaitu Array_Reverse(). Langkah pertama, buka file comments.php kemudian temukan baris dengan kode php:

 foreach ($comments as $comment) : ?>

tambahkan diatas baris itu script ini:

 $comments = array_reverse($comments, true); ?>

Sehingga script akhirnya kira-kira menjadi:

 $comments = array_reverse($comments, true); ?>
 foreach ($comments as $comment) : ?>
   	// loop komentar
 endforeach; ?>

Mudah jan? dong…
