Works great so far. This computer runs bf3
really well. It did not exceed my expectations however. The speed
difference is not very noticeable to an average person so you could
always just get an i3/i5 and still be satisfied. The 16 gb of ram is a
bit overkill but to each his own. The more the better right? Overall
great computer, built your own you would pay around the same price. The
biggest issue i had was my hard drive came tilted on its slot. Probably
a one in a million thing so i'm not very peeved. Well done on the
computer and it is definitely worth it. Don't think twice.

If you're a casual home computer user and just want check your email occasionally, surf the Internet, and keep up with home finances, you'll probably be satisfied with a desktop or an all-in-one system. An inexpensive desktop offers a large screen that's easy on the eyes—although if you prefer sitting on the couch to sitting at a desk, a tablet or netbook could offer both the features and comfort you're looking for.

Generally, high-end power and capabilities are more affordable in a desktop system, which is also easier to upgrade over time. You can keep a desktop computer contemporary by replacing components year after year, a process that's more difficult or impossible on most portable computers and all-in-ones. If you need a computer for travel, doing business, or attending school, you'll want a laptop or an Ultrabook. Tablets and netbooks keep you connected to the Internet and allow you to do light work, but neither offer the full-fledged power of a laptop or desktop computer. Still, for a computer that's so highly portable, tablets and netbooks are about as convenient as you can get.

The next step in our computer buying guide is to determine the components that will go into your new computer.

Get Enough Hard Drive Space
Most of your files and data will be saved on your computer's hard drive. While text documents, pictures, and music files generally don't require much space on their own, it's easy to quickly chew through the available storage as your collection grows. In general, you'll get more hard drive space for your computer buying dollar by opting for a desktop computer instead of a laptop or tablet.

Try to get enough gigabytes (GB) of storage--or perhaps even terabytes (TB) for a desktop--to keep all the files you'll need today as well as what you might need in the next few years. You don't need to go crazy, though: 500GB will be enough for many users, and you can also purchase additional external storage or upgrade your internal drive if you need to down the road.

You could also choose a solid state drive. SSDs are quickly becoming more common, especially on ultrabooks and tablets. SSDs are faster than traditional hard drives, and they use less power--but you pay for that speed and economy. If you need help deciding which type of drive is right for you, see our computer buying guide to solid state drives vs. hard drives.

Know About Memory (RAM)
While your computer's hard drive determines how many files, movies, and songs you can store on your computer, your random access memory (RAM) determines the performance of multiple programs running at the same time. Large programs like video editors and games usually demand more RAM. Simpler activities such as watching a Blu-ray or checking your email don't necessarily require much RAM, but extra power makes everything go quicker.

Most computer buyers will be satisfied with 4GB of RAM, while budget-conscious shoppers could make do with 2GB. A video gamer or heavy computer user will want 8GB or more of RAM, which represents the upper end of the spectrum for most computers. It's important to note that RAM isn't really a factor in choosing a tablet computer. While tablets do use RAM, you don't get RAM options when choosing a tablet.

Consider Processor Speed and Power
When it comes to your computer's processor, the general rule is that faster is better. You can generally assume that the more cores you have and the higher the speed (measured in gigahertz or GHz), the better off you are. The more cores the processor boasts, the more computations it can do at once. Speed describes how quickly those cores can work.

Unless you're trying to save every penny possible, don't buy a single-core computer because dual-core processors are widely and inexpensively available. Those dual cores provide all the power most computer users need. Video editors, gamers, and other power users will need a quad-core or even six-core processor.

Get the Ports You Need
Familiarize yourself with the types of ports you'll need on your computer and what each type does. Here's a quick buying guide to the most common computer ports and plugs:

SD - Cameras, e-readers, and even tablets store files and data on SD cards, so having a built-in SD card reader offers huge convenience.

HDMI - HDMI presents a convenient way to play audio and video between your computer and a TV or monitor.

USB - Common peripherals like keyboards, mice, and printers connect using USB cables. The standard USB port these days is USB 3.0, though plenty of devices support older USB ports.

Thunderbolt - Thunderbolt is a newer port type found predominantly on contemporary Apple computers. It can transfer data and even support monitor connections too.

Review the Package and Check Your Budget
Once you've made decisions about all the factors in this computer buying guide, review your final choices. Check your options against your budget by browsing our Computer section. When everything lines up, congratulations on your new computer!
If you're thinking of buying a laptop or tablet computer, we have computer buying guides just for them, too.
It really is more a desktop computer than a tablet. But it will download and play lots of Android Apps and Games. The powerful speakers make game play more enjoyable. The 21.5 inch screen is bright and readable for my aging eyes. It weighs 10 lbs. so it really is not for your lap. It will tilt from 70 degrees to 20 degrees so if you have lots of desk space you may use it almost lying flat. It is not terribly fast (Quadrant Score = 1800), but it keeps up well and does not appear any slower than some of my faster tablets in Chrome. It has NO sensors (accelerometers, g-sensors, position) so a lot of my previous Apps (99 out of 250) will not load from the Google Play Store (most, I think, for the lack of a position sensor). It will actually display Apps that only work in portrait mode but they are lying on their side. It has 2 full size USB ports, 1 micro USB port, a HDMI port, a Ethernet port, and a micro SD card slot. It has lots of pre-installed Apps including Kindle, Amazon AppStore, Chrome, Facebook, Netflix, Play Store, Polaris Office, Skype, and YouTube. I really like this hybrid and would recommend it to anyone that has some Android experience (I say that because Acer provides absolutely NO Android information). It has a three page Quick start guide that only shows how to hook it up. They provide the User Manual on a CD (this computer doesn't have a drive to view it!). You can go to Acer's Web site to download the PDF file. If, like me, you have been a Windows user all your life and want to try Android give this computer a try. I think you will like it - I do.
Product Features:

AiO: Intel Core i3 3.1 GHz; Tablet: NVIDIA Tegra 3

AiO: 4 GB DDR3; Tablet: 2GB DDR3

AiO: 1TB HDD 7200 rpm Hard Drive; Tablet: 16GB eMMC Flash Memory

18.4-Inch Screen

Windows 8

This is a great computer and a great tablet. It is two computers for the price of one. If you have an extra monitor, you have another computer. Just connect your monitor to the Desktop Port and you have another computer. You can also remote control the desktop port with the tablet detached and in another room still running windows 8 on the desktop port. A very versital machine. I love it.

So far it has not been a good experience with this novel All-in-One. There is a lack of technical support from ASUS for this unit as well as online help for specific problems. The unit is experiencing ongoing problems keeping the tablet connected to the base station when it is undocked. It constantly loses the connection and will not reconnect until it is placed back in the dock. I cannot find any online help guides nor has ASUS been responsive to email inquiries. I got an email from ASUS apologizing for the delays in response and that my email was forwarded tot he appropriate department for review several weeks ago, but I did not receive any help. I really would like to return the product for full credit if possible.

Product Features:

Intel Core i5-4200U 1.6 GHz

4 GB DDR3L SDRAM

500 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive, 8 GB Solid-State Drive

21.5-Inch Screen, Intel HD Graphics 4400

Windows 8

Bought this PC yesterday for use as an all-in-one in our Kitchen. My wife was really excited about it because it has an amazingly clear display and is super versatile. I was a bit frustrated that on first boot it still had Windows 8 (not 8.1). It probably took 3 or 4 hours to get all the Windows updates installed that would even allow the upgrade to 8.1, and then another chunk of time for the 8.1 update. It would have been nice to have 8.1 out of the box.

Once I got things stabilized, I was very happy with the speed and form factor. I love how I can use it to cycle through our family photos as a screen saver - and the display is gorgeous. There are some really neat apps that take advantage of the touch screen!

My concerns are: 1) Keyboard is very small, smaller than some ultrabook keyboards. I'm pretty sure I'll be swapping it out for something a little bigger. 2) It's somewhat heavy - I had envisioned being able to use it as a tabletop PC but I worry that it will be dropped when my wife or kids carry it - and don't want to find out how fragile the glass on the screen is.

I love the Windows 8 experience though and look forward to this unit being a showpiece in our kitchen for the next several years.

Hey guys, this PC is amazing for the money,, why? because it quickly
boots up for those who pick it up (i can only speak for the one that has
windows 8 pre- installed because there is 2 options), its not too noisy
but it can pick up when you are playing demanding games, it has all the
usb ports you could every need and with a decent keyboard and mouse for
starters.. matter of fact i am still currently using the stock mouse. i
use this PC to play LoL, Diablo 3, WoW ... all run with out a hitch...
the graphics cards (2) can be over clocked to give you a better gaming
experience.
only downside really about this pc is the graphics
cards.. yes there are 2 in crossfire and the do run most demanding games
well but on medium - high setting depending on the game.. for beginner
to moderate players this as still great for those who are advanced ..
you may want to install something a littler more powerful
i ran a 3D Mark Vantage test on the cards so here are the results:
stock setting scored 4K points

The CybertronPC Quattro GM3142A is an awesome system, runs online gaming like World of Tanks with a breeze from its array of cooling fans. The processing power of this system is the best I've ever owned. I also process tons of photos using photoshop and the system handles the task with no problems. However the card reader does not work and currently in the process of correcting the problem with CybertronPC tech support, they are most helpful. A LexarPro external USB card reader works fine for now.

The product was shipped quickly and I received it on time, no complain there. However the computer was defective. It seems that the hard drive was simply thrown in there at the last minute and no quality control was done. It was not even properly connected and its case was broken. I called the manufacturer who did not do much to help. I called Amazon customer service to try and find an exchange for the product but this could not be done because the defective one they sent me was the last in stock. I tried to buy another computer but one customer agent after the other was lying to me about the timeline needed to get a refund on the defective item to use toward buying the other computer. I have lost up to 4 workdays so far, as I needed a computer with similar specifications to complete a very demanding job. I have never dealt with Amazon customer service before, but this is an experience that I will never forget and will think many times before buying anything from them ever.

Product Features:

2.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 Processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.2 GHz) with 6MB L3 cache

1TB (5400-rpm) Hard Drive, 8 GB (Two 4 GB) of 1600MHz DDR3 Memory

21.5-inch (Diagonal) LED-backlit Display with IPS Technology; 1920-by-1080 Resolution

Intel Iris Pro Graphics

Mac OS X Mavericks

This new iMac is a great machine. This model has a NVIDIA GeForce
GTX 775M graphics processor which should provide excellent video editing
and gaming performance. I cloned OS X to a 250 GB Samsung 840 SSD that
is attached to a Seagagte GoFlex Thunderbolt adapter. The iMac boots in
less than 12 seconds from the Thunderbolt adapter. The Seagate
Thunderbolt adapter is an inexpensive solution if you want SSD
performance but don't want to pay Apple's premium for an internal SSD
drive (you can use any SSD with the Seagate adapter). I previously had a
Mac Mini that I installed an SSD into. The iMac has removed a lot of
cable clutter from my desk, and the improved graphics card (the NVIDIA
GTX 775M is a very high end card) has really added "zip" to my video and
graphics applications. The dispaly is excellent. I'm not a gamer, but
reviews of the 775M (see the NotebookCheck website) indicate that this
is a really great graphics and gaming processor. This is one fantastic
machine. I used to build PC gaming machines for my sons, and high end
PC's for friends. I love thius machine and OS X - I'll doubt that I'll
ever go back to Microsoft.
