I started investing in 1990, when a colleague introduce a broker to me.

Investments if more about predicting collect the market cycle.

My ideas mostly concentrate in looking for undervalued stocks

I had numerous joint ventures with my friends.

Warren Buffret said 3 Important point about investments First. Don't lost money, Second Don't lost money, 3 Don't lost money.

Investments is more a art then a science, sentiments play an important part

Talking to the company staff is important too, which is more than the numbers you need in the news.

A frugal person has a higher chance of success in investments, many frugal persons success because they spent less than they earn, over the year they compound the savings.

It take long course of time to accumulate wealth and need the patient.

The way I pick stocks is same as I develop a method to predict the right subject that came out from my GCE O Level correctly

In 1976 I only pass 3 subjects in my GCE O level.

I only take 5 subjects, I never take my maths because I didn't had confidence.

I need to wake up at 4 am to help my mom run the hawker stall, as our livelihood depend on the stall, during my O level exam and discouragement from friend, and the teacher was not interested in teaching us, I dropped my maths in the exam.

In 1978 I made a fresh determination to retake the 3 O level that I failed or didn't take - Physical Science, English and Maths.

I got to be efficient in predicting which topic the questions likely to come out.

I found a way to forecast accurately.

I can't study and remember everything in the books, so I concentrate on those most likely to come out.

I apply my system to predict the stock market, I passed my 3 subjects as private candidate quite well, Even I was late at my maths exam. The exam was held in Tanjong Katong Technical School.

Most of my classmates failed when they retook the GCE O level as private candidates.

Imagine you got to study until late at night at 1am, next morning you need to wake up to run the food stall at 4am then rush to school to sit for your O Level exam, fortunately the last day of 5 hours of exams, 2 and the half each, Jason Quek my classmate who dropout came to help me to cycle the food from my house to our food stall at Sims Drive.

Of all the subjects I like the topic of Probability the most, in maths.

Investments is about forecasting, the more accurate one forecast the better one returns.

Investments need much hardwork, research & reading widely. And getting the cycle right.

Understand the direction of the market is important.

It took year of collecting data, learning from mistakes and reading those top investors methods.

Finally develop own methods.

Many like to ask for tips, which they thought stocks is just like gambling, just like lotteries.

They might try to contra it hoping like lotteries, they might strike.

Investing is not gambling.

It is time consuming collect data and analyzing lots of data hoping to find some gems in it.

Going to AGM, EGM & SGM asking questions and discussing with the Executive Chairman, Managing Directors, Presidents and CEO of the listed companies.

Many told me, which they thought stock is like gambling, I told them stock is not gambling.

Some don't believe. Yes they might heard many got burned, cause 90 percents of them lost money in stocks, when they don't do research on what they are buying and listening to tips only.

Many getting into it and don't what they are investing, they heard it is good and were recommended by somebody.

Over the years it is interesting many asked me for stocks tips, when you said you are into stocks.

If they make money they will kept pestering me.

If they lose money, they will in trouble or likely said negative things about me.

It is interesting there are many gamblers out there, who believe stocks is for gambling, which they don't believe in doing homework, they throw their money into the stocks just by listening to tips?

They believed stocks is for a short turn punt.

Good stocks may drop to a low level in a bad market conditions.

It is not often I make money in stocks short term.

It usually take quite a while for those stocks that I invested to make money.

I think rarely any persons can predict the short directions of the stock market.

I don't usually buy stocks for short term, which I believe it is very difficult to predict stocks in short term directions. Nobody can make in stocks everytime.

Warren Buffret said he couldn't predict the short term directions of the market. Over the course of time the stock will reflect fully it's value.

When people asked me for tips, I usually told them I don't give tips.

In my O Level mathematics, my teacher was not interested in teaching. Whenever I asked him questions, he asked me to study myself. My future to study was bleak as my mom could not afford it and the discouragement from a friend.

I never took it, in 1976.

Subsequently I made a determination to take it privately in 1978 and do my self study and try to predict the right questions that most likely to come out. Because we just can't remember every details we study on the whole book, we need to concentrate on those that most likely to come out, as in the stock market, we need to put money on those stock that their price is most likely to move up most.

The topic the interest me most is probability

Buying and reading many books of top investors and developing my own formula in picking stocks and predicting the market.

The more accurate we forecast the market the better returns we get.

Stocks is not base only on fundamental along and that is already known, it is also trying to figure out the future of the stocks, what is the chances it is likely to go up. If only base on fundamental accountants will be the richest persons. It is more an art then a science.

I had been investing in stocks since 1990 and had gone through numerous cycles of the market.

I agreed with Peter Lynch that investing is an art more than a science. He said if it is a science, accountants will be the richest persons. Nobody can predict the market turnaround 100 percents, usually base on past statistics they base their judgements.

Markets were driven by fear and greed. At it worst stocks were driven to ridiculous level inconsistent with its fundamentals.

I went to many Annual General Meetings and Extraordinary General Meeting to talk to market players to see what is really written in the annual reports. I usually stay after the EGM to talk to the CEO, Managing Directors, Presidents or Executive Chairman, to ask questions and understand more about the listed companies.

I had been collecting data on the Malaysian and Singapore market and have 40 years of data.

Peter Lynch made a career out of Chrysler. Peter went regularly to visit Chrysler to find the probability of it turning around.

If it declared bankrupt lots of jobs will be lost. It is seeking funding from the government.

Peter Lynch convinced the CEO Lee Iacocca had the ability to turnaround the company, so he put the highest amount of fund in the company. Later it multiply many times.

A lost making company which turnaround and grow usually gave the highest returns.

Many successful corporations were found during depressed time where everything is cheaper, like microsoft.

Asia Foods and Properties Ltd is in the cyclical industries. It lost hundred millions of dollars during recessions, later when it turned around from 4.5 cents it moved to more then $1.5.

Buying properties when the properties are run down. Which need lots of repairs and the prices were depressed and few want it.

You need to find good locations properties at depressed price.

You needed to spend lots of efforts calling contractors to repair and paint it nicely.

You can get good rental yield from the properties after spending effort in cleaning, paint & repair it when the environment improve, it will get better response.

Of course you need to find a value for money contractors to fix it, as everything is broken, the owner can't sell because it need lots of time, expertise and efforts to fix it.

Take your time to find a good reputable contractor, it might save you lots of headache later.

It is better to get a contractor who specialised in their area, rather then a general one.

Each contractor had their area of expertise but might not in other area.

Locations is the most important factor in considering properties investments. When an area is growing with massive developments the demand will grow. Many professionals will be interested in the area.

When economy don't do well, a better location property will be easier to get tenants or buyers.

Given the huge incentives and prestige of the Nobel Prizes which greatly enhanced the incentives to risk , innovates and invent. It will generate massive ideas and later leads to success?

At the present moment, Singapore is facing yet another recesssion.

In the earlier days, Singapore succeed due to low cost in manufacturing.

Now China and India have a huge, cheap and well educated workforce. It is difficult for Singapore to compete with them in regards to cheap manufacturing costs and labour.

As of the present moment, Singapore is heavily dependent on cheap foreign labour. This will further may create more social unrest, widen income gap and give Singapore a cheap image.

Scandinavia countries have some of the highest standard of living in the world. Should our country learn from them?

Their population is small but developed many innovations and inventions;
have world class companies like Ikea, Lego , Nokis & Volvo etc.
They depend little on cheap foreign labours and casinos.

Why can't Singapore set/follow good examples?

Singapore has $200 billions reserves.

Singapore can set up multi-million dollar prizes equivalents of Nobel prizes.

Honour and reward innovations and inventions more often, so that many more good ideas and patents can be produced to drive the economy.

This will also strengthen Culture and bring out the best of local talents.

It is able to pump huge amount of money into building more private schools with state of the art technology and research facilities as well as sports (sea, land, hard, soft) complex to draw more high value students from all over the world.

Kallang River Park has huge empty plots which can be used to build many new facilities.

Building a 88 stories high tech building or innovations and research near the MRT along the Kallang River

The building to be build to house multi functional facilities like National Research Centre, activities for arts, music and cultures facilities & library.

Last a minister wrote to my wife getting a PR, asking ideas for community bonding which i replied it on her behalf.

Important consideration for community bonding is easy access, so that they can drop by conveniently.

The 88 stories to have residential, hotel, office and shops house in the same building to provide all in one amenities?

With ten stories of underground facilities like carparks, securities equipments and facilties etc?

With renewable and green energy building. Beside it the Kallang River can generate renewable energy

Building a high tech sports school, to training sports man and invite top coaches around the world to come

We can also pump huge amount of money to employ more teachers. Build more private and local schools. Build schools with new educational systems, cutting edge research and facilities to draw top innovative staff as well as true foreign talent.

Start a tourism research centre,
study how to draw higher spending tourists and make them staying longer.
Invest billions of dollars in training tourism staff as well as upgrading tourist spots.

Create more Eco-friendly solutions that help, can influence other countries and heal mother earth.

Build facilities that emphasis on healthy living. Research on how to live longer and healthier instead of building more hospitals and focusing on curing diseases which will create and manifest more diseases.

Reduce dependency on casino gradually.
Casino creates social problems such as broken families, loan sharks, gangsters, suicides, chickens running around etc.,

Cheap labour produces negative effects as well.

By doing so, Singapore will set a good example for the world to follow, help heal the planet, bring in positive vibrations, generate income and revamp it's economy as well.

By trying out some of the ideas I learned from these great investors, I am able to make some extraordinary returns.

Over my 20 years of extraordinary investment experiences. Some of the most interesting and important ideas were meeting the top hanchos of the Listed Companies.

I used to stay at least half hour after the Annual General Meetings or Extraordinary General Meetings to dicsuss with these top leaders of listed companies.

I learned lots of things about the future and heatlh of the listed companie or then just reading their reports.

They may not able to divulge too much info because of the SGX rulings on insider info, by talking to them, can feel are they confident or not the future of their companies they are running.

Talking to them is one of the best indicators of the companies future directions and learned some new investments ideas with the leaders of the industries.

You got to prepare beforehand what you want to ask about the companies, so as to probe deeper into the companies you want to invest.

Public listed Companies' Annual General Meetings and Extraordinary General Meetings

Went to AGM/EGM meetings, got to know numerous Executive Chairman, CEO, Managing Director & Presidents of the organisations. When I went to AGM meeting I usually stay longer after the AGM ends, so that I can ask more questions about the health of the listed companies and learn one or two tricks about doing business.

Sometimes we got difficulties to understand what we read in the Annual Reports so we can find out from the CEO, which can give us more through views of the futures of the company.

We may able to give some suggestions or discuss some ideas with the senior managements to turn the companies around and able to understand better about the future directions of the companies.

We can learn a lot about the businesses by speaking to the out senior staff, and learned which was not written on the annual reports. There usually some difference when we talk to the senior staff and the annual reports

Some will tell new and better shareholders are coming in or who are their new clients etc.

Of course going to outlying areas to find the office is not easy but it worth the effort.

Talking to the MD or CEO is different from what we read as some of the news we read maybe obsoleted, which might be prepared few months ago.

My investments skills

As a investor I felt that my skills get good returns because of my lack of qualifications, it is difficult for me to get a job as a fund manager especially in Singapore.

I had develop a way to beat the market and get very good returns.

Many of my friends had benefits from me from giving them free tips on investments. In USA there is more emphasis on skills and performances rather than qualifications.

I had sent my resumes to various companies and get no reply at all. I had asked on senior fund manager who used to interview people, he said minimum requirement is a degree.

Hopefully one of these days, I can overcome this hurdle and run an investments fund.

I had received some annual reports. Taken note of the coming AGM meeting the coming few days. I would like to go down for the AGM meeting to get a better feel of the company and talk to the CEO and ask a few questions.

By going down to the company we can find out lots of things from the company.

Some of them thought investing in stock is like gambling, of course there are some elements of risk involved in any form of investments.

To go down to AGM mtg is a step to find out more about the company progress. It's difficult to get direct answers because they can't disclose any confidential info. But many time by talking to the senior management through my observations,I can feels more of less the direction of the company.

And the indication the company is it getting better or not when you talk to the senior staff of the company.

There things we can't just read in the annual reports or through the news, we can find out when go down to the company.

The stocks to look for, are those who make huge increase in their sales/earnings. Some sell some of them made huge gain selling, their assets like properties and stocks which they brought at a bargain price.

Look for stocks that had substantial cash, properties & stock. Wait until their prices drop to bargain level.

Look for stocks that had assets(stocks & properties) which they had brought some time ago during bear market. When market turn, their asset usually enhanced. These is another tips to be successful in investments.
