If you are doing business in Canada and the EU, you may be required to collect two sets of taxes on most of your invoices and estimates. While this may seem like a complicated procedure, Invoicera make these calculations extremely simple. With our new feature to handle GST/PST in invoices and estimates, Invoicera is able to calculate both simple and compound taxes in dual tax fields.

Invoicing with ‘Normal Tax’

While invoicing with normal tax, both federal and provincial taxes are applied separately on the invoice subtotal. For e.g. in the below invoice GST = 5% & PST = 7%, the percentages of both the taxes will be calculated separately on the subtotal. The invoice subtotal in the invoice is $500. Therefore:

Tax 1 (GST) = 5% of $500 = $25

Tax 2 (PST) = 7% of $500 = $35

And the total invoice amount will be $560 ($500 + $25 + $35)

Invoicing with ‘Stacked or Compound Tax’

While invoicing with compound tax, the compound tax is calculated as a percentage of subtotal + Tax 1. In other words, provincial tax is applied on the sum of invoice subtotal and federal tax. For e.g. in the invoice below GST = 5%, PST = 7% and the invoice subtotal = $500. In this case, PST will be calculated as below:

Tax 1 (GST) = 5% of $500 = $25

Tax 2 (PST) = 7% X (Subtotal + Tax 1) = 7% X ($500 + $25) = $36.75

And, therefore, the invoice total amount will be $ 561.75 ($500 + $25 + $36.75)

Invoicing with IRPF option also supported

If you are selling to a Spanish business you will have to indicate the level of IRPF that should be withheld by the customer. The amount for IRPF is essentially withheld by your customer and paid to the tax office by them on your behalf.

For example, if you have done €1000 of work your invoice will say something like:

• Net total €1000
• IVA 16% (VAT for Spain) €160
• IRPF at 7% €70

You will be paid €1000+160-70 = €1090. This implies, with Invoicera you will be able to have negative taxation amount required for IRPF.

The most recent update in our invoicing application has been the integration of Moneris Payment Gateway. This announcement would sound music to the ears of many who have requested us to integrate this particular payment gateway, especially our users from North America, where it is widely used by merchants.

Moneris Solutions is a single point of contact for Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Interac Direct Payment, and all Point of Sale solutions. Our relationship with Moneris not only improves your satisfaction and ease of transaction processing today, but it will also ensure a superior value proposition for the future.

This takes the total count of the payment gateways to 15 and it won’t be a surprise if more are integrated in the future.

There will be many more updates in the days to come, so stay tuned!

And as usual we would love to hear your feedback on how useful this update has been for you.

We recently received a few concerned e-mails suggesting that some of our users do forget to add tax amount at the first step i.e. before creating an invoice. A few hours back I would have mentioned skipping out certain important steps is bound to cause problems and that all necessary steps need to be followed before actually creating an invoice (that also included adding tax even before creating an invoice). But this would not be a cause of concern any more!

Our new tax adding option lets you add tax directly while creating an invoice/estimate, just like adding a new client, product/service or even late fee. This implies you would be able to start invoicing immediately as and when you sign-up. The new tax added directly gets saved and can be re-used on future invoices. It’s that easy!

Screenshot below shows how you can add tax on the fly.

Simply go to create invoice and click on ‘Add Tax’ option in the tax drop down. A popup will open with tax fields such as tax name, tax caption and tax percent. Fill in the details and that’s it, you are done with adding tax.

If you have any further questions regarding this feature update, please do not hesitate to post your questions.

The feedback from our users’ front has been numerous, especially expressing their love for the new design and we have managed to correct any aberration, much to their delight.

The most recent update in Invoicera is the option to send account statements to your clients via mail. Our account statements show your clients their invoice and payment history, plus their overall account balance. Many of you have been using account statements to view the payment details of your clients, but now you also have the option to send it to the respective client. The option to e-mail account statement directly to your client has been put in place for two reasons:

They are a handy tool for giving you and your client an overview of their account

There is complete transparency with respect to the amount that has been sent, paid and outstanding

Sending account statements is quick and easy, and we’ve made it easy to add a note along with your email.

To view and send account statements to any of your clients, follow these steps:

1) On the list of clients page, click on the ‘Account Balance’.

2) Click the ‘Send Mail’ button to send the statement account.

3) You will see screen with the message box to write your own custom message for the mail.

It has been a long teasing wait for all of us, but what better way to start the New Year than to make such exciting announcement to our Invoicera community. Yes, the new Invoicera is now available for all our users to see, use, test or even break! In the past few days our mail box has been inundated with mails pleading for the new Invoicera beta version to be made available at the earliest. And we are sure the news of Invoicera’s impending beta launch is music to the ears of many.

The Beta version will feature a number of additions and improvements, including a completely new user interface, better navigation, awesome design, fresh features, new invoice templates and much more. It will incorporate a number of user requests and feedback received over the past year while Invoicera has been in public mode.

For those who haven’t yet have an Invoicera account can also access the beta version by clicking on any of following two links below:
