Steffen Wins Iowa PGA 36-Hole Classic-
Ames, Iowa – Zach Steffen of Terrace Hills Golf Course wins the 36-Hole Classic, Monday, June 1 at Ames Golf & Country Club turning in a 10-under-par total.

The Iowa PGA 36-Hole Classic featured individual competitions for the Open, Senior, Super Senior, and Legends Divisions.

The Open Division winner was Steffen with rounds of 66-66=132, 10-under-par.

The Senior Division winner was Darin Fisher of William Penn University with rounds of 64-69=133, 9-under-par.

The Super Senior Division winner was Jeff Smith of Harvest Point Golf Course with rounds of 72-76=148, 6-over-par.

The Legends Division winner was PGA Life member Joe Butler with rounds of 71-78=149, 7-over-par.

Sutton Champion of the Iowa PGA Match Play Championship-
Muscatine, Iowa – The Iowa PGA Match Play Champion is Davis Sutton of Cedar Rapids Country Club. The event was held on Tuesday, May 19 at Geneva Golf and Country Club

Players were seeded according to the Master Points List kept by the Iowa PGA and player reputation.

Sutton won the Iowa PGA Match Play by defeating Chad Proehl of Sugar Creek Golf Club in the final round, 5 and 4.

Here is Sutton’s path through the Match Play Brackets.

Sutton in the first round he defeated Casey Harvey of the Iowa PGA Section, 8 and 7. He faced Bryan Luedkte of Bunker Links Golf Course, 1 up. In the quarter-finals Sutton took on Travis Hall of Dubuque Golf and Country Club, conceded. In the Semi-finals Sutton took on Zach Steffen of Terrace Hills Golf Course, 3 & 2. The final Championship match had Sutton defeating Proehl, 5 and 4 to win the 2026 Iowa PGA Match Play Championship.

Iowa PGA Match Play Championship Results from Day One-
Muscatine, Iowa – The Iowa PGA Match Play is a two-day event held on Monday, May 18 – May 19 at Geneva Golf & Country Club. Judd Gibb of Hanson’s Custom Golf and Chad Proehl of Sugar Creek Golf Club will verse each other as well as Davis Sutton of Cedar Rapids Country Club and Zach Steffen of Terrace Hills Golf Course will compete in the final two rounds.

This is a two-day single elimination Match Play Championship. Players will be seeded according to the Master Points List kept by the Iowa PGA and player reputation.

Fisher Champion of the Iowa PGA Senior Match Play Championship-
East Moline, Illinois – The Iowa PGA Match Play Champion is Darin Fisher of William Penn University. The event was held on Monday, May 12 at Short Hills Country Club.

The single elimination Senior Match Play Championship. Players will be seeded by the Iowa PGA Master Points List. Defending champion receives the first overall seed.

Fisher won the Iowa PGA Senior Match Play by defeating Sean McCarty of Brown Deer Golf Club in the final match, 19 holes.

Here is Fisher’s path through the Senior Match Play Brackets.

Fisher in the first round he defeated John Bermel of Pheasant Ridge Golf Course, 6 and 5. He faced Kevin Kwak of St. Ambrose University, 2 up. In the semi-finals Fisher took on Judd Gibb of Hanson’s Custom Golf, 2 up in round three. The final Championship match had Fisher defeating McCarty, 19 holes to win the 2026 Iowa PGA Senior Match Play Championship.

Jeff Schmid of Brown Deer Golf Club, Jay Giannetto of Elmwood Country Club, Sean McCarty of Brown Deer Golf Club, Dillon Baker of Elev8 Golf Club and Ryan McClintock of Dubuque Golf & Country Club all competed in the PGA Professional Championship.

Round 1
Schmid’s first round he carded birdies on holes 3 and 15 including a bogey on hole 13. His first-round total score of 70.

McCarty’s first round he carded birdies on holes 9, 15 and 18; bogeys on holes 5, 10 and 13 including a double bogey on hole 17. His first-round total score of 74.

Baker’s first round he carded birdies on holes 2, 3, 9 and 12; a bogey on hole 1 including double bogeys on holes 11 and 17. His first-round total score of 72.

McClintock’s first round he carded birdies on holes 2, 3, 4 and 13; bogeys on holes 8, 10, 15 and 18 including double bogeys on holes 5, 14 and 17. His first-round total score of 78.

Giannetto’s first round he carded birdies on holes 5, 7 and 14; bogeys on holes 1, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 13 including double bogeys on holes 3, 11, 15 and 16. His first-round total score of 83.

Round 2
Schmid’s second round he carded birdies on holes 9 and 10 including bogeys on holes 2, 6, 12 and 14. His second-round total score of 74.

McCarty’s second round he carded birdies on holes 2, 3, 4, 9 and 13 including bogeys on holes 6, 12, 15, 17 and 18. His second-round total score of 72.

Baker’s second round he carded birdies on holes 3, 8, 12 and 14; bogeys on holes 6 and 11 including double bogeys on holes 4 and 5. His two-day total scores were 72-75=147, 4-over-par.

Giannetto’s second round he carded birdies on holes 10 and 13; bogeys on holes 1, 2, 4, 9, 11 and 15 including a double bogey on hole 16. His two-day total scores were 83-78=161, 18-over-par.

McClintock’s second round he carded a birdie on hole 14; bogeys on holes 2, 13, 16, 17 and 18 including double bogeys on holes 3, 4, 5 and 6. His two-day total scores were 78-84=162, 19-over-par.

Baker, McClintock and Giannetto missed the projected cut of +2.

Round 3
McCarty’s second round he carded birdies on holes 13 and 17 including bogeys on holes 15 and 16. His third-round total score of 72.

Schmid’s third round he carded birdies on holes 2, 4 and 13 including bogeys on holes 1, 5, 6, 7, 11, 14 and 17. His third-round score of 76.

Final Round
McCarty’s four-day total score was 74-72-72-72=290, and finished T21st place.

Schmid’s four-day total score was 70-74-76-79=299, and finished T67th place.

Team Mcilravy/Schall Iowa PGA Junior-Senior Draw–
Riverside, Iowa – The team of Sterling Mcilravy of Blue Top Ridge and Ken Schall of Ken Schall Golf Performance Studio won the Iowa PGA Junior-Senior Draw Monday, April 27 at Blue Top Ridge. Mcilravy and Schall turned in 7-under-par 65.

Teams for Junior-Senior Draw were comprised of two Iowa Section PGA Professionals competing in a one best ball of 2 gross.

In addition to the team event, the Iowa PGA Junior-Senior Draw featured individual competitions for the Open, Senior, Legends and Super Senior Divisions.

Two-way tie for first place with Matt Jennings of Bos Landen Golf Course and Mcilravy in the Open Division both turned in a score of 5-under-par 67.

Three-way tie for first place with Schall, Bryan Luedkte of Bunker Links Golf Course and Jeff Smith of Harvest Point Golf Course all tied for first place in the Senior Division each turned in a score of 2-under-par 70.

Two-way tie for first place with Schall and Smith the Super Senior Division both turned in a score of 2-under-par 70.

Joe Butler of Burlington Golf Club won the Legends Division with a 2-under-par 70. Jim Henry of Ek Golf turned in even-par 72.

Five Iowa PGA Members to Compete at PGA Professional Championship-

Riverside, Iowa – The Iowa PGA has five Iowa PGA Members competing in the 2026 PGA Professional Championship on April 26-29, 2026, at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Oregon.

Jay Giannetto of Elmwood Country Club, Jeff Schmid of Brown Deer Golf Club, Dillon Baker of Elev8 Golf Club, Sean McCarty of Brown Deer Golf Club and Ryan McClintock of Dubuque Golf & Country Club.

The alternates in order are Ben Montgomery of Airport National Golf Course and Davis Sutton of Cedar Rapids Country Club.

Iowa PGA Spring Meeting & Pro-Pro Results-
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Elmcrest Country Club played host to the 2026 Iowa PGA Spring Meeting and Pro-Pro event presented by Harris Golf Cars and Under Armour. The morning included Kevin Scott, PGA’s Chief Technology Officer, and Kelly Williams, PGA, 2024 Golf Executive of the Year, for an engaging session showcasing the power of artificial intelligence tailored specifically for PGA Members.

We celebrated Assistant Executive Director and Junior Golf Director Tess Goudy of 25 years strong with the Iowa PGA Section. She has left an impact on many around her and we at the Section office and Section appreciate all that she has done and continues to do for us.

The players also competed in a Pro-Pro event here on Monday, April 20 at Elmcrest Country Club. Thank you to our Presenting Sponsors, Harris Golf Cars and Under Armour. Teams for the Pro-Pro were comprised of two Iowa PGA Professionals competing in an 18-hole Team Event, one of best ball of two format.

Flight 1 –

The first-place team was Ken Schall and Sam Rice both of Ken Schall Golf Performance Studio, Dillon Baker of Elev8 Golf Club and Clark Smith of Nike Golf with a round of 7-under-par 133.

Flight 2 –

Two-way tie for first place with the teams of JR Millar of Lake Bracken Country Club, Kevin Drew PGA of America Career Consultant, Casey Harvey of Iowa PGA Section and Gene Bears of Hillcrest Country Club; Aaron Krueger of Wakonda Club, Brian Delaney of Davenport Country Club, Brian Johnson and Brian Rusell of both of Elmcrest Country Club all turned in 1-over-par 141.
