In today's economy, people worldwide are always thinking about saving money and finding the best deals out there. So when you've got to have an iPhone, it goes without saying that you're probably in the market for iPhone deals as well. But how do you find them? Is there some secret site out there that has insider deals, or do you just apply a little common sense and research? Today, consider us your secret site: we're going to guide you to the some of the best deals on the Web.

Used iPhones on the Seller Market

If a great way to find iPhone deals is by finding iPhones that have been pre-used, then you might also consider a direct seller market, like the one you find at eBay. Have a look around our site, as we've specifically designed it so you can find the best deals for iPhone's on eBay, no matter where you're from.

You'll want to be a little wary on eBay. Make sure you review each seller's feedback and that you're aware of what they're actually selling you - an iPhone may seem like a great deal until you realize you have to buy the telephone service to go with it! These are generally referred to as "unlocked" phones - but it's a good idea to ask about this before you buy anyway.

A handy tip : Look for iPhone Auctions on eBay that are ending at inconvenient times, such as between after 11PM at night or before 7AM in the morning. Whilst these are rare, it decreases your competition and gives you a much better chance of winning. Put in a bid near the end of the auction, and set it about $50 - $100 below other iPhone Auctions that have ended. Don't despair if you don't win the first time. If you keep this strategy up, and you'll land yourself a great iPhone deal in no-time flat.

Refurbished iPhones

One of the first place to look for iPhones are sites that offer "refurbished" iPhones - they'll often say "Refurb" along with them. Make sure that you buy from a credible site like AT&T's site (US) and you'll happily avoid scammers who are trying to pull a fast one on you.

Refurbished iPhones are iPhones that are just that - they've been fitted after usage in order to act like new even if they're not exactly new. If you're not a picky man and enjoy simply having an iPhone, this is a great option for you. It will slash the price and put what appears to be a brand new iPhone in your hand. It's a solid deal.

If you put a little thought into it, iPhone deals are really just a few clicks away. Just determine what you are willing to pay for an iPhone - and make sure you're clear about whether or not you want service or not - and work from there. You'll find that some deals can be privately negotiated (don't be afraid to offer a price to a seller on eBay), while some deals have fixed prices and aren't so negotiable, but come with a lot of convenience.

8GB iPhone - Around $400-$500 - Compare Todays eBay Deals

With the Nexus One from Google as the latest addition into the smartphone market, a lot of people are starting to look at the landscape and ask themselves if the iPhone is still the dominant product. These days, customers have more options and subsequently want to know which device would win in an iPhone vs. Nexus One matchup, and if other smartphones like the Droid should enter the fray as well. Let's match these gadgets up to really find which smartphone rules the market.

Checking out a straight feature-by-feature matchup of the iPhone and the Nexus One, we see immediately that the storage space on the iPhone - currently available as either 16 GB or 32GB - dwarfs the Nexus One, coming in at a paltry 4 GB. The Nexus memory is expandable up to 32GB, but you'll need to buy that as an extra (Around $100). The battery lives are comparable, with Nexus One winning in the "talking time" department and the iPhone winning in "standby mode."

Other features that customers have come to expect, like GPS, voice activation, WiFi access and cameras are available on both the Nexus One and the iPhone, so you won't miss out if you choose either one or the other. There is, of course, always iPhone's massive App store to consider - the Apps available for the Nexus One are still adequate, but don't reach near the volume of the Apple App store.

With pretty similar features thus far, half of the iPhone vs. Nexus One debate comes down to price. Which smartphone simply offers the best bang for the buck? In The US, Nexus One's T-Mobile connection pits against the iPhone's AT&T network and comes in with around $50 less for an unlimited usage plan, while the gadget itself (with plan attached) shaves $20 off of the iPhone price.

Over 24 months, you would save over $1,000 with the unlimited Nexus One plan over the iPhone unlimited plan, but the prices are more comparable when comparing the "average" plans, which sees Nexus Phone still at a $500 advantage.

Understanding which smartphone you'd like to purchase comes down to your priorities: Do you want access to the thousands of Apps available for the iPhone, or are you ok with the decent but limited offering for the Nexus? Is price the bottom line as you're trying to scrimp and save for other worthy purchases? Ask yourself these questions and you'll have a better idea of which phone to buy.

The bottom line? In this iPhone vs. Nexus One debate, you would be hard-pressed to regret making either purchase decision. The prices are better for the Nexus One, but out of the box, the storage capacity is at least four times as good with the iPhone - just about every other feature is present in both phones, except for the famous iPhone App store, which remains an advantage over other phones.

For a while now, you've probably wanted to unlock the iPhone in your pocket but weren't sure how to do it.

Heck, some people don't even know what "unlocking the iPhone" even means.

In this article, we'll not only tell you what it means, but we'll offer some guides that will help you on your quest to using the iPhone the way you always wanted to use it.

What is iPhone Unlocking?

Locking refers to the way a phone interacts with the network it's hooked up to. In the case of the iPhone, unlocking it would mean breaking the chains of your contract. People unlock their cellular phones to switch their carrier, often for purposes of world travel.

A simple way to look at it is allowing your iPhone to use a different phone service, which can potentially lead to more mobile freedom. Of course, you'll only want to do this if you're know what you're doing and if you know you really want your iPhone unlocked.

iPhone Unlocking Guides

A great way to get started in the world of unlocking the iPhone is to find guides. For a introduction, checkout the range of guides from The iPhone Blog.

Another good unlocking guide is this one from MacWorld, which it introduces you to the pro's & con's behind unlocking your iPhone.

If these guides make your head spin, you can also buy a iPhone Unlocking Information Kit which provide detailed guides & video's.

A quick word of warning: You could possibly void your warranty, and more importantly, damage your iPhone by unlocking it.

Questions About Unlocking

Generally, travelers are the people most frequently concerned about unlocking their iPhones, but there might be other "iPhone hackers" who are willing to stay put in their home country and still unlock it. In order to start unlocking your iPhone, ask yourself what your reason is: do you really want to do it for a specific purpose, or are you just looking to tinker? There's nothing wrong with tinkering, as long as it's legal, but unless you plan on achieving some goals here, unlocking your iPhone isn't always worth your time.

That said, having an unlocked iPhone can really help you to travel and manage your affairs while overseas, so at least look into unlocking the iPhone you own if you plan on traveling internationally soon.

As a smartphone customer, you might have looked at phone plans and prices in the past and wondered to yourself, "who on earth would ever consider buying an iPhone outright?"

And you have a point. An iPhone will cost you hundreds of dollars more if you don't buy it on a plan - which is what "buying it outright" means - and what's more, for that price, you won't even have any phone service. You'd just have an iPhone that can't call anyone. What a ripoff, right? Just look at the prices for smartphones if you buy them outright!

Well, not so fast. For a lot of people, buying an iPhone outright makes a lot of sense. Let's consider a few of those people:

Travelers

Why travelers? Because some travelers want to use an iPhone but don't want the costs associated with being stuck on a network's plan - heck, they don't even want the network, period. Some people "unlock" their iPhones which allows them to go with other call plans, including buying calling cards. For international travel, this can actually save a lot of money and reduces roaming charges if not eliminating them completely. Buying the iPhone outright for several hundred dollars more might seem like a heck of an investment, but it's actually saving them money every month because they're not on the long term 24 month plan.

Money savers

Some people would consider buying an iPhone but realize that if they go with a much cheaper phone plan and unlock their iPhone, they'll save hundreds of dollars over the next year. Yes, you save money on the iPhone when you buy it on a post-paid contract, but you also sign a commitment to pay thousands of dollars over the next year or two. Some people have crunched the numbers and simply figure an iPhone is cheaper to have if they buy it outright and determine their own plan. Even if you don't think that this is "your sort of thing," it can be worth a try.

What's the best option for you? There's no way you shouldn't at least give heavy consideration to buying an iPhone outright. A lot of people aren't sure how to handle it - they'd rather just sign a contract and let it be done with - but for the savvy customer, there are other options available.

Don't simply accept the contract because it's how many people usually buy it; really dig in and ask if it's the right choice for you.

Popular iPhone Apps

Three Review Sites You Should Know About.

You don't have to be told how popular iPhone Apps are.

They're one of the unique selling points of the iPhone, and as other smart phones try to keep up, iPhone Apps just seem to get more and more popular.

The problem for many people is that they don't even know how to get started and find the Apps that other people are using. If you've been stuck as well, this article will point you in the right direction and get you your App fix quickly.

Apple.com

Apple itself is as good a place to start as any. When you get to the "Staff Picks" linked above, you can have a look at what Apple staff have voted as their most popular iPhone Apps out there today. Although it's not mentioned how these applications are picked, this is a good "starter" site that will point you to the applications that people are currently downloading. We've had a good look at these, and some of their 'picks' are really good. Rest assured, nothing of low quality will every make this list.

Fresh Apps

If you're popular, then you're talked about, and that's why some of the most popular iPhone Apps will find themselves reviewed at sites like Fresh Apps, which take a look at the latest Apps and review them before you buy them. You don't have to read every single review, but checking out some of the Apps that are available is a good way to see what's out there and find the Apps that might just be right for you. In the meantime, you can browse reviews on specific iPhone Apps to see if they might be worth downloading to your iPhone.

MacWorld

How can a site like MacWorld not have App review sections? As you'll find, MacWorld is another great hub to check out the latest iPhone Apps. You can browse by the top-rated user Apps in order to see what's really popular out there these days. Another App sale section shows you which Apps have cut their prices and might become a little more popular as a side effect.

The Apple is a brand that is highly popular, so it can be easy to see why so many people are after the new or latest App. But that doesn't necessarily mean that everything with Apple is all brand, social proof, and peer pressure - by scrutinizing the most popular Apps, you can get a few good ideas for the kinds of Apps that can save you time, money, and headaches in your work or personal life.

Should you download an App just because it's popular? Of course not. But when you see that an App is popular, you have to ask yourself if there's a good reason it's become popular. In the case of many popular iPhone Apps, they became popular because of their quality.

iPhone Time Management While Traveling

Today's world is smaller, sleeker, and faster - even if the Earth itself is about the same size. But thanks to today's technology, including gadgets like Apple's iPhone, we're able to do more with less - and that "less" sometimes means less time. That is, of course, if you're managing your time effectively. If not, here are three tips to help you get started in the world of time management without ditching your iPhone as your go-to gateway to the web.

Tip #1: Sync your Google Calendar account with your iPhone Calendar.

This, of course, will make sure that you can bring your Google Calendar with you wherever you go - not necessarily just where you have access to the internet and a comfortable chair to sit on. If you need to make changes in your schedule while riding a high-speed train, you can update your iPhone calendar and allow it to sync with your Google Calendar back at the office. Not too shabby! Check out that link from iPhone Download Blog to find out how to sync the two calendars.

Tip #2: Download A Time Management App.

If you haven't done this already, make sure to do a little bit of research to find a good App that will help you organize your schedule and stay on top of your important tasks throughout the day. Check out LetsGoMobile to see what you can do with this kind of technology; chances are, you'll enjoy many of the time management features and just might make them a part of your daily routine. Except for on the weekends, of course!

Tip #3: Know When To Set The iPhone Down.

There's no particular App for setting your iPhone down - all it requires is that you shut it off, plug it into the hotel room, and enjoy your time traveling. Whether you're on a holiday or a business trip, making sure you get plenty of "me time" is still essential. Traveling can be fun and can take you to exotic places, but if you don't take some time out for yourself it can feel like quite the grind.

Remember that the goal of time management isn't to simply organize your busy life; it's to make your life less busy by using your time better. The old phrase "work smarter, not harder" definitely applies here, and the iPhone can be a strong temptation to check e-mail and continue to check up on the office grind. Instead of doing that, realize that good time management means you'll have more time for yourself, and act accordingly.

There's no doubt that the technology made available to us through smart phones and Apple's iPhone keeps us more in touch with the world. But there's a problem when the world wants to be more in touch with our iPhones, if you know what I mean. Identity theft is a major issue in this paperless age of ours, and if you want to make sure that your iPhone is protected, it starts with a good password.

First, you'll actually want to turn the password feature on your iPhone on. It can be a little obtrusive, but if you turn this feature on and forget about it, soon it will simply become a part of routine that you don't notice quite as much. In order to turn the password feature on, you'll have to write a solid password.

Go to Settings > General > Security lock, as TUAW will tell you, and from there you'll be able to work on setting your passcode - but this isn't your password. It's actually a passcode, a four-digit code you enter in, much like a PIN number.

It's fine to have a PIN number, but if you want to replace your password with a more traditional alphanumeric password (that is, using letters/numbers), then check out this guide from iPhone Download Blog.

After you follow the instructions in that blog post, you'll be able to set an alphanumeric password.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind when you set your password. Many people prefer to have their password something they'll easily remember, like a mother's maiden name or their favorite pet. But having a simple, easy-to-remember password does put you at risk at someone being able to figure that password out and hack into your iPhone.

We recommend that you try to set a more difficult password, such as a random collection of letters and numbers. This can be a little difficult to learn at first, but once you have this number memorize, you'll have it locked safely in your mind for a long time, that is until you change your password again. At the very least, incorporate some numbers into a more traditional "word" password so that even people who know you well won't be able to figure it out. If you're well-known for loving cats, then "cats" isn't a great password, but "cats14022" is much more difficult to figure out.

With the release of the "Droid" earlier this year, one thing is becoming apparent: the iPhone's dominance over the world of smart phones isn't necessarily guaranteed in the next ten years. That's particularly relevant given that there's a new decade upon us. One question then remains: is the iPhone's dominance here to say or is the competition for newer, better gadgets simply too fierce?

During the summer, we saw the release of the iPhone 3G S, the latest and most advanced form of the iPhone. As usual, the release was met with buzz, high sales, and crowds of giddy Apple fans ready to soak it all up. But partially thanks to the success of the iPhone series, the mobile/smart phone industry has seen a complete spike throughout the first decade of the 21st Century. So where's all the pressure coming from?

As Bizmology notes, it's coming from, well, a little bit of everywhere. The BlackBerry remains a popular item, and the rise of the Palm Pre has also put a dent in the iPhone's dominance over the market. Both of those phones offer high-quality service and features that were unheard of before the iPhone.

Google, characteristically, isn't staying put either. Phones like the myTouch and the G1 are big players on the market, thanks in part to a big advertising campaign on myTouch's side.

Another place to look for competition isn't in the iPhone itself, but in the networks providing phone service. The success of the iPhone doesn't only relate to Apple's success, it relates to AT&T's. The more users of the iPhone there are, the more people are using AT&T's network. With a sleuth of advertising campaigns from companies like T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless, there's no reason to think that the iPhone has a monopoly by any means.

What does this all mean for the world of smart phones in the decade from 2010-2019? Quite simply, it means that there's enough competition to keep power in the hands of the consumer. The quality of phones is always increasing, while the prices generally come down. Apple has been able to keep its company strong while selling relatively low-cost, simple gadgets to a wide audience. It's a good idea not only to watch the development of the iPhone, but whatever Apple has up its sleeve in the next ten years.

Five Features for the iPhone in the Next Decade

Although the iPhone - including in its current 3G S form - is one of the most popular smart phones around, there's always room for improvement. If we can expect to see the kind of revolution in smart phones that we saw in the first decades of the 2000's, then we should be in for some major treats. But what is the iPhone still missing? Here are some features we thought could be welcome additions:

1. A keyboard you can really touch.

The iPhone has gone its merry way without a physical keyboard, instead using a touch-screen. But many people enjoy keyboards that actually click and allow you to desively click on a certain letter or number if they so desire. However, as iPhone Download Blog notes, a physical keyboard might be a welcome upgrade that Apple might never embrace. Maybe you can use that touch-screen to type a frowny-face.

2. Battery life.

As more and more people use the iPhone as they travel, there's a good case to be made that battery life is one of the more important features on smart phones out there right now. The iPhone has a notoriously shaky battery life, requiring a lot of recharging - but what if you're out in the middle of the sea with no outlets? Then you're stuck. An improved battery life could give world travelers and people on the run more reason to consider purchasing the iPhone.

3. HD video!

The world is slowly evolving into a sharper form of video known as high-definition, and it would be nice if the iPhone decided to come along for the ride, as The Apple Blog notes. With the Zune HD supporting HD, you have to wonder if the marketplace will soon push the iPhone in the direction of sharper video.

4. Wireless syncing.

Technology always seems to move toward smaller, more wireless solutions, but the iPhone 3G S still doesn't offer wireless syncing. One goal of technology is to make things simpler, so giving more wireless capabilities to the iPhone is a great way to clear the clutter.

5. More Flash support.

You see Flash all across the Web these days, and the iPhone is lagging behind the times.

If you come into this decade with low expectations, remember that technology can often be unpredictable, and the span of ten years is a lot of time in which we can see developments in the iPhone world.
