Good question David, I have not found any other way to turn them off, so yes, I would assume that if you have no apps using (or that can use) Push then it could be considered off.

Otherwise, once you have one installed, you can them turn them off if you wanted. (as seen in the pic above).

Bought the iphone 3GS 3 days ago and the battery life has been pretty pathetic. Today for the last 4 hours its on Airplane mode which i think turns off all phone and data connections. the battery has drained from 60% to 13%. Turning it off so i have some juice left for the ride home from work. Returning the phone unless apple tells me its a defective unit and replaces it.

Does that mean push notifications are off if there is no app installed that uses them — one would presume, butcha never know, eh?

Looking for things to do to improve the poor 3.0 / 3G s battery life.

Google has the resources and the servers to do the pushing… but… since they have the G1, they don’t want to give anything to it’s customers…

I guess it’s time we move to yahoo.

I would think that it’s AT&T who limit applications that interact with GPS… they charge $10 per month(!!) for the pleasure of using GPS. I would think that they would want to keep it that way, and I would also think that they have made this quite clear to Apple.

I just bought this case last week and so far so good. I like the look and feel of it and it will go about 12 hours before it starts to use the 3GS battery. I did find that turning off wifi if I don’t need it seems to really keep the battery life up. The only thing I wish it had was a flash for the camera. If they did that it would be the perfect case.

Very useful comment, Joel. How about your own written skills:
“Maybe you could…”? Odd use of the modal where ’should’ would be far more appropriate. And:
“…on English writing”? Are you suggesting Mr Nelson needs a literature course, or did you mean to say ‘in writing English’?

As for the G3S, it would be very nice if I could edit several short clips together in-phone and upload the result to MobileMe as a single file, but that isn’t possible… yet. One lives in hope!
