Earlier we showed you a custom Leica camera designed by Apple’s Jony Ive in collaboration with Marc Newson.

Apple’s designer Ive along with Newson sat down with Vanity Fait for an interview where they talked about designing the Product (Red) charity auction.

“We are in an unusual time in which objects are designed graphically, on a computer,” Ive said. “Now we have people graduating from college who don’t know how to make something themselves. It’s only then that you understand the characteristics of a material and how you honor that in the shaping. Until you’ve actually pushed metal around and done it yourself, you don’t understand.”

The product is made from the Leica M digital 35 millimeter full-frame camera, a high power performance processor, a full format CMOS censor and Leica’s APO-Summicron –M 50-millimeter f/2 ASPH lens.

“I found it a very odd and unusual thing to put this amount of love and energy into one thing, where you are only going to make one,” Ive said. “But isn’t it beautiful?”

According to Leica, the camera is made in 85 days and was created after Jony Ive and Newson had to go through 561 models and prototyped almost 1,000 parts.

The camera will be up for sale in an auction at Sotheby’s on Nov. 23 along with other Newson and Ive collaborative products. One of these products also includes a pair of solid 18-karat rose gold Apple EarPods.

These money these products will raise will be used to raise The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.

The newly relocated Apple Retail Store in Nanuet, N.Y. has been reopened on Thursday morning and it brought a lot of cheering crowd full of zest.

The opening scene was quite an entertainment due to the enthusiastic crowd that was there for the festivities.

A line of people were waiting for the door to open when at 10 am, the store was opened for the public, greeted and welcomed by the Apple Store employees in the blue shirts.

As you have expected, the first 1,000 customers who have attended the event were given free commemorative t-shirts by Apple.

The store was previously located at Palisades and now its been relocated to The Shops at Nanuet. The whole mall was opened to the public on the same day on Route 59.

Apple is also set to open a new retail store and its first in Turkey. That store will be opened in the first month of next year. The retail store in Turkey will have an area of over 20,000 square feet in size and it is reportedly set to open in in Istanbul’s Zorlu Center.

The White House has declined to interfere and prevent a ban on the sale of specific Samsung products that are suspect of infringing on Apple patents.

Samsung was quite certain that the Obama administration would do as it did for Apple back in August when the president intervened and prevented an International Trade Commission injunction that could have banned sale of the iPhone 4.

But this time the White House made it clear that they won’t stop the ruling made against Samsung.

“After carefully weighing policy considerations, including the impact on consumers and competition, advice from agencies, and information from interested parties, I have decided to allow [the ban],” U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman said in a statement.

The president vetoed in Apple’s case was due to interests related to standards essential patents (SEPs) being used to benefit “undue leverage.” On the other hand, Samsung’s products that are in question are not accused of violating SEPs.

It is to be noted that this ruling are applied only to a limited number of Samsung products. The newer models of their products are not in question.

Levi Strauss & Co. also known as Levi’s has provided a “mountain of jeans” for the production of Steve Jobs biopic starring Ashton Kutcher.

Lisa Jensen received this piles of jeans that he showed in an interview to FancyDressCostumes. She estimated that a total of 60 pairs of jeans from Levi’s 501 jeans were considered to accomodate the varying body weights Ashton Kutcher had to achieve during the production of the film.

Other than that, New Balance has made the exact sneakers for Ashton Kutcher role that Jobs used to wear. The movie crew was also provided with an archivist who pitched in with research.

Jenen also had to work with Cassara Brothers Clothiers who used to dress the top company’s executives during the early days of Apple. Custom suits were designed for Kutcher and other actors in the cast including Matthew Modine who appeared as John Sculley and J.k Simmons who portrayed Arthur Rock.

According to reports, Ashton Kutcher also adopted Job’s fruit only diet that according to the actor nearly put him in the hospital.

“Jobs” biopic is scheduled to be released on August 16 this year. The film is the first of the two biopics on Apple’s legendary CEO Steve Jobs. The second film is scripted by Aaron Sorkin who is famous for writing the script of “The Social Network”

Disney has announced that it will honor Steve Jobs with a Disney Legends Award at the D23 Expo, scheduled to be organised on Saturday, August 10 in Anaheim, California.

Steve Jobs who people know as the former CEO of Apple, was also a former CEO of Pixar Animation Studios which Disney acquired. He became the largest Disney shareholder in 2006 when Pixar was acquired. Jobs remained a board member and advisor until he was passed in 2011.

“The Disney Legend Award is our highest and most coveted honor. It’s reserved for the extraordinary visionaries and artists behind the Disney magic, the men and women who push the limits of innovation and creativity to ensure Disney remains truly special”, said Disney CEO Bob Iger “The eight Legends we honor this year helped create some of our most beloved characters along with exciting new worlds and thrilling attractions. They also entertained millions of people and expanded our definition of what’s possible. They are all indelible parts of our legacy, and we are proud to recognize them as true Disney Legends.”

Disney Legends Award will also be given to Tony Baxter, Collin Campbell, Dick Clark, Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Glen Keane, and Ed Wynn. Each person will receive a two-foot-tall bronze Disney Legends sculpture that shows the “imagination, creativity, and magic” they have added to the company.

iPhone 5 has generated more than 75 percent of the total North America 4G web traffic by all the smartphones released after July 2012, that makes a total of 40 percent share when all 4G smartphones are considered, reports ad network Chitika.

The report was made after collecting data from first two weeks of the June, shows the 4G capable phones are generating 30 percent of all the smartphones in U.S and Canada. The remaining 70 percent share is shared by other smartphones that are using 3G and 2G services.

The ad network Chitika made the report after analysing tens of millions of smartphone based ad impressions from June 1 to June 13, 2013.

Further analysis shows the firm found 53 percent of ad impressions coming from 4G smartphones released after July 2012. That also includes Apple’s latest smartphone iPhone 5 that was released in September last year.

Apple’s iPhone 5 accounts for 40 percent of the total web traffic from 4G smartphones and 76 percent of the total web traffic from handsets that came to the market after July 2012.

Other 4G smartphones seen in the list also includes Samsung’s Galaxy S4, LG’s Nexus 4, HTC One and BB10 BlackBerry.

This is another example of what Tim Cook talked in his interview on D11 conference this year. You may say Android has surpassed the total market share of the phones but the fact remains there that most of the Android devices are not even considered as the smartphones and thus generate almost no web traffic.

Ever imagined what are the 12 best designs from the last 100 years? That would be very complicated to answer but that does not necessarily means that people won’t try it.

Monique Rivalland of CNN has asked world’s greatest designers the same question and Apple has made its name on the list, not once but twice. The designers named two Apple products to be the most iconic industrial designs of the last century.

The first product that made its name on the list is Apple Mac and sure its one of the best industrial design example and has evolved over the time.

“When Apple Mac said hello to the world in 1984 it turned the computing industry on its head,” says Dick Powell, co-founder of design agency SeymourPowell. “It seamlessly combined outstanding software and hardware into an experience. Other than the Jobs-less years it spent in the innovation wilderness, it’s still doing it.”

Second product is Apple’s iPod that was introduced back in 2011 by Steve Jobs and it changed the music industry and how it operates.

“The iPod, the product so iconic it defined a generation, says Nick Rhodes, head of the Industrial Design MA at the University of London. “It so clearly demonstrates the benefits of collaborative efforts.” “This is no longer the province of a single ‘hero’ designer,” he says “but rather the unified work of many practitioners.”

Apple is one of the companies that is proud of its industrial design and has offered many products that is a proof of it. Mac may not be the most sold personal computer but it sure is the best. On the other hand, iPod and iTunes has brought the best music experience.

The rumours of Apple making a smart-watch are going on for quite some time but that does not stop its competitors to follow the same path. Hon Hai Precision Industry that goes by its trading name Foxconn claims it is making an iPhone compatible watch of its own.

According to a report by Want China Times, Hon Hai has shown its first smart-watch today at a shareholders meeting.

The watch has the ability to connect to an iPhone over wireless and provides data such as respiration and user’s heartbeat. It can also check Facebook posts and phone calls.

As there are rumours of iPhone 5S to get a fingerprint sensor, Hon Hai chairman Terry Gou said that they are working to add this functionality to their wearable device in the future.

Hon Hai has not announced any name and release date for their smart-watch but provided as its the first hardware product they are working on and its Chinese roots, it might not reach the U.S market too soon.

On the other hand, we have also heard about Google making a smart-watch. As typical Google behaviour, they try all sorts of thing and invest in each and everything they hear and pray for their success.

While Apple doesn’t show or talk about the upcoming products they are working on. For them, timing doesn’t matter. So they take their time and work to make the best product.

Followed by the decisions made by the U.S Supreme Court on Wednesday in favour of the marriage equality, the Cupertino based company has issues a statement celebrating the decision made by the court.

“Apple strongly supports marriage equality and we consider it a civil rights issue,” the company told AllThingsD. “We applaud the Supreme Court for its decisions today.”

Apple has also given a statement earlier this year saying “DOMA hurts legally married same-s3x couples and prevents companies from treating all employees as equals. Apple strongly supports marriage equality and we hope the Supreme Court will declare the law unconstitutional.”

The court voted 5-4 to finish one part of DOMA that was preventing a number of federal benefits to the same s3x couples. Another decision voted 5-4 by the court also cleared the way for people who are willing for same s3x marriage and allows them to marry once again in California, the home state of Apple.

Other than Apple, many big tech companies in U.S including Facebook, Google, Intel, Morgan Stanley etc. has made public statements in favour of the same s3x marriage.

Apple has always stood against inequality having offered health benefits to the same s3x couples employed by them and publicly donating to the “No on Prop 8” campaign in 2008.
