The Wall Street Journal spotted the new accessory from Restoration Hardware. The whole thing is aimed at those want a an age-old, nostalgic feel to accompany their $500 iPhone.

As noted in the news report, the device is best used for playing old mono songs like it was 1898. The device is terribly novel and can be had for the not-so-low price of $249.99. That’s about $100 more than a typical gramophone these days.

There seems to be an app for everything these days, so it’s not surprising there’s an app for those who suffer from heart troubles.

Forbes has a write-up on the new app designed by university students that allows the iPhone to take a snapshot of the EGG data and send the data over a secure network using the iPhone’s wi-fi capabilities.

David R. Burt, lead author of the study, in a press release from the AHA…

“Simple cellular technology can save lives,” … “This system may make pre-hospital ECG transmission a more inexpensive and reliable option. That can translate to faster treatment and saved lives.”

The app makes it fast and easy to capture data compared to the troglodyte technology currently used for EGG data snapshots. This could become a major breakthrough in way heart treatment is handled in the future.

So imagine having friends with iPads and iPhones in an area and with strategic positioning, they can be used to enhance the image quality of a single photo taken. Cool right?

Apple Insider spotted the new patent that Apple filed, which details how surrounding iOS powered devices can be used to help illuminate or enhance the quality of an image for a photo taken with the iPhone.

This would be a pretty neat thing to have implemented into the iPhone 6, especially in those places where the contrasting light can dim out details or contours of objects. Whether or not this technology will actually see the light of day in an Apple device is anyone’s guess, but the idea of choreographing an awesome photo in conjunction with a symphony of Apple devices using wi-fi bluetooth signals is a pretty cool thing.

That means iOs 6 or later. The approval is part of the military’s plan to go “platform agnostic” by allowing employees have greater flexibility in their work.

Last week, the Pentagon signaled that iPhone and iPad approval was imminent and would be happening this week. The authorization comes two weeks after the Samsung Galaxy and BlackBerry 10 were approved. Previously the Department of Defense was reliant on the BlackBerry alone with more than 600,000 of them running on the Pentagon networks.

Apple’s iPhone is in use in other government agencies and military positions, but the Pentagon requires specific and higher security clearance after a thorough review.

The App Store contains over 850,000 apps with about 350,000 of them native to the iPad. Apple said that people are downloading more than 800 apps a second, which translates to more than 2 billion app a month.

Apple has submitted plans for a new retail location at San Francisco’s Union Square to replace their current one. According to SFGate, plans for the new location emerged Thursday. The rendered retail space is a gray box with a front made entirely out of glass. Both floors of the building would be viewable from the outside.

The current flagship location at Stockton and Ellis, so the move would just be up the street at Stockton and Post, a location recently held by Levi’s. The new store is planned to be 455 larger than the current and local officials are helping Apple bring the store to light and the extra 50 jobs it would bring to the city. They are also hoping to find more “green measures and “energy efficiencies” for what they hope will be the “Bay Area hub” for Apple shopping.

At the moment, Apple has three retail locations in San Francisco, not including their Best Buy mini-stores. Throughout 2013 Apple will be renovating or mobbing 20 of it’s retail locations to help accommodate the increased foot traffic they receive.

GottaBeMobile has a report on AT&T’s new promotion that allows you trade-in your iPhone 4S for an iPhone 5 without having to put any money down.

This means that you can take your old and crusty iPhone 4S – and if you decide to sign a contract deal with AT&T – you can have your old Apple smartphone transformed and upgraded into a newer, better iPhone.

However, the deal is only available for a limited time only, so you’ll have to work fast.
