Apple wins iPhone5.com domain, Google releases Schemer app for iOS

Trademarks have never been good and in the case of Apple against the owner of the iPhone5.com, Apple emerges as the winner through a claim made to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). This has been reported by a lot of people as the claim changed from the status of “Case Active” to “Terminated” on WIPO’s website.

As of date, what used to be a discussion forum for the iPhone 5 now lies as a blank page. The domain name is also under control of Corporation Service Company which is holding the iPhone5.com domain under Apple’s behalf. With this being said and done, Apple might be releasing the new iPhone real soon. It is also estimated that the next iPhone will be made available sometime this year although there is no actual release date of the phone made by Apple. Nevertheless, this is definitely an indicator that it might just be soon.

In other news, Google has released its Schemer iPhone App. Schemer is the company’s social activity service which is integrated with the company’s Google+ social network. Not much can be said about this application although it will take some time to see whether it will receive a well deserved audience or not.

New MacBook Pro set to be launched in WWDC

The MacBook Pro is Apple’s high-end laptop with millions of them being used worldwide. Every now and then, it needs to get component upgrades much like any other laptops in the market. Good news for those that have been looking forward for a new purchase of a MacBook Pro because soon, there will be a new set of upgrades which will make the MacBook Pro even better.

The new and improved MacBook Pro is set to have a thinner profile than the one that it has before. In addition to that, the Retina display will be made as a default on these laptops and inside it will be Intel’s newest set of Ivy Bridge processor. Apple’s relationship with ATI will also come to an end because this new batch of MacBook Pro will go back to NVIDIA as it has always been the case before. It was also said that the MacBook Pro will come with a flash memory and this will help to cut short the startup time and at the same time, conserve battery.

These are definitely upgrades to look forward to so if you would want to get a new MacBook Pro, we recommend that you wait first because when the new version is released, it will be much better than the ones before.

Features on the future iOS 6

There has yet to be an official announcement by Apple but the iOS 6 is already in the making and people are expecting a lot of things. This is considering that this version of the iOS will be a major update to the current iOS 5 and thus it is only natural that the company releases a few new major features to the operating system that is being used by millions of devices across the globe.

The details of the iOS 6 remain cloudy but as the WorldWide Developer Conference (WWDC) is nearing, the information leaked about the new iOS seems to be plenty as well. As reported by Wall Street Journal, Apple is planning to add features such as photo-sharing and video syncing capabilities to its iCloud online service to the future iOS. Through the iCloud, users can also interact with each other about the photos that have been uploaded by the user. This concept might be the same as a social network albeit exclusive only to Apple users.

In addition to that, it has also been known that Apple is planning to release a web app for notes and reminders on the iCloud and this feature will also see light on the iOS as well due to the integration between the two.

iPhone integrates well with Apple’s iCloud and in fact, users can even backup their iPhone data through the iCloud but that doesn’t seem to bode well for users in the long run. This is because an application by Elcomsoft allows the user to get forensic access to the online backups uploaded to the iCloud storage server.

The application called Elcom Password Breaker is an application which allows forensic access to any encrypted devices. This includes both Apple and BlackBerry devices. The information given includes SMS, email message, call history, contacts and a lot more things. Suffice to say that when you have this application, no data is safe from being discovered. The new addition to the product also allows the user to gain access to information from online backups. Better yet, you would not need to use iTunes or BlackBerry Desktop Software to get hold of these information as well. The price tag of only $79 makes it a very cheap solution for most people as well.

With this being said and done, it puts the user into a very messy situation especially when this application is readily available for anyone to use it. In the case of iCloud, all that is needed is the username and password of the Apple ID and your information is compromised.

Best Smartphone According to Siri – Lumia 900

Siri is certainly one of the best applications that have been released by Apple but apparently, that can also backfire the company especially with its own answers. As a lot of people know, you can ask Siri for just about anything, including the best smartphone in the market but the answer to this isn’t the iPhone but rather a unique competitor which is the Lumia 900.

The Lumia 900 is certainly a good phone that has received countless of 5 stars review in places such as BestBuy and Amazon. Because Siri takes the information from WolframAlpha and the latter takes its information based on user comments on the aforementioned website, it is to no surprise that Lumia 900 becomes the answer because a quick search on Amazon would show that Lumia 900 receives an average of 5 stars on reviews by more than 300 people.

This is quite surprising because you would expect that Siri would call the iPhone as the best smartphone but a little bit of humility goes a long way. Nevertheless, Siri still remains as the best voice recognition personal assistance in the market due to its good integration with its operating system but it might also show that Lumia 900 would play a good part in promoting Windows Phone 7 as well.

Seas0nPass jailbreaking tool adds support for Apple TV

There are a lot of jailbreaking tools that are available in the market but the most interesting one for the Apple TV is the Seas0nPass jailbreak tool. The newest version of it is certainly good especially when it will allow for tethered jailbreak for the latest version of the Apple TV software.

The software update that we are talking about is the Apple TV Update 5.0.1 or iOS 5.1.1 for Apple TV 2 as some would want to call it by. The latest version of Seas0nPass which is version 0.8.4 is said to support tethered jailbreak for Apple TV 2. However, there is no word on when an update for Apple TV 3 will be available although FireCore (Seas0nPass developer) tweeted that they are working on update for the aforementioned device.

A jailbreak Apple TV is certainly interesting because it opens up a few other possibilities for the HD media player. Amongst the possibilities include web browsing, Last.FM access, HTML 5 video website capability, media streaming from NAS and a few others. Features to be Expected on iOS 6

As of date, iPhone users are having fun with their iOS 5 and the latest version of the iOS has certainly been some fun for many. A lot of things have been taken care of on which amongst them includes Siri, multi-tasking, notification center and a few others. Most of the major concerns such as copy and paste have also been implemented. However, that does not mean that the current version of iOS is complete. There might be a lot of changes that will be implemented on the next version, iOS 6 and we are hoping on some of these as well.

One of the features that we are looking forward is a Siri API. As of date, not many applications can use it so hopefully, iOS 6 will change all of that and makes the voice recognition software available for all apps to use. In addition to that, we also hope that widgets can show information at a glance and not having to open up a new app to view them.

Other things include clever third-party communication on which apps can link themselves to a certain file much like Android and Windows Phone. These are just some of the common ones but we hope that Apple do get creative and puts some interesting things on the new iOS as well.

Rumor: iPad Mini to be Launched in October?

The iPad is certainly one of its kind but that might not be the case for a very long time because there might be a new iOS tablet in town and this would be the iPad mini. The rumor of Apple releasing a smaller version of the iPad has been around but it seems that this time, the rumor mill might just be true.

According to iMore which has certainly been releasing good and trustworthy rumors had said that according to their “reliable source”, a smaller iPad which would be in the size of 7-inch will be released soon. The price tag for this version of iPad is said to be between $200 to $250. This would definitely mean that the price tag would mean a competition to tablets like the Kindle Fire or the Nook Tablet. In fact, it may even be the tablet that most people would seek after instead of the big sized iPad.

The smaller version of the iPad is also said to be announced sometime in October. Honestly, we’re not sure if this rumor is true but if it is, then Apple would further eliminate the competition in the market. At that particular price tag, a lot more people will buy Apple products.

Widgets on iPhone Home Screen through Dashboard X

The concept of widgets has been around for quite some time. In fact, even in the days of Windows Mobile, there were already a lot of widgets present on the PDAs at that time. However, for the iPhone, it seems that only now can you put a custom widget at the iPhone home screen and this is possible only through the use of a jailbreak app called Dashboard X.

Dashboard X is a Cydia app that allows you to add widgets to your iPhone or iPad home screen. In addition to the existing notification center widgets, you can also add in Dashboard X custom widgets as well. It works rather simple as it involves drag and drop just like how you would want to edit the placement of your iPhone/iPad apps.

In other news, Apple has released an update to the Mac OS X Mountain Lion and this is in the form of OS X 10.7.4 which can be considered a major update and a must for Mountain Lion users. Some of the things that are improved include bug fixes, added RAW image compatibility for a few new cameras, improved internet sharing and a few others. In addition to that, the infamous FileVault password bug has also been fixed in this latest version of Mountain Lion. The update would be around 730MB.

Anyone that has an iPhone and does jailbreaking every now and then would have heard about Redsn0w. It is certainly one of the best jailbreaking utility for iPhone and every now and then, new version of it keeps on appearing and each for a different version of iOS. Most often than not, Redsn0w produces jailbreaking tool to upgrade the iOS but this is not the case this time.

In the future, Redsn0w says that the team are working on a hack that could downgrade their iOS. This is apparently useful for those that have upgraded their iPhone to version 5.1 or 5.1.1. With the future update, those that have updated to the aforementioned versions can choose to once again get the iOS 5.0.1. This in return, will enable them to use the Absinthe untethered jailbreak.
