iOS HotSpot Cracker Can Crack Personal Hotspots Passwords In Tens Of Seconds

Personal Hotspot is an implemented system by Apple about 2 years ago, and it allows us to transform our devices into real Wi-Fi hotspots to share a mobile internet data connection with other devices. Although Apple praise its operating system security, it looks like the Personal HotSpot does not receive the same words from Nuremberg University researchers which discovered that passwords set for this system can be found through brute force attacks. Specifically, a script can check millions of passwords for Personal HotSpot before discovering the right one, the system designed by Apple is not having a locking mechanism after many attempts of entering some wrong combinations.

Moreover, the iOS dictionary contains only 1842 words from which the password is chosen, some of the words included in passwords are chosen more often than others, 18.5 million possible combinations can be tried by hackers. Based on these vulnerabilities, the researchers argue that a password can be cracked in no less than 50 seconds (minimum) using an application developed by them and called iOS HotSpot Cracker. The time period can vary depending on the chosen password and the terminal used for exploitation.

Theoretically, with any security method used to protect the hotspot, the application can crack the password only relying on recently used words combinations and words available in the dictionary of iOS, but the procedure can take between 25 seconds (using 4 graphics cards AMD Radeon HD 7970) and a few days using only an idevice. No matter how we see the situation, Personal HotSpot system is not extremely important, but it should still be protected.

Apple Could Implement A New Passive Cooling System To Its Devices

Apple, Samsung or HTC would be just a few of the companies that would be interested in using passive cooling systems to their new smartphones and tablets, at least that’s what DigiTimes claims.

Asian publication says that these companies may implement in future mobile terminals thin pipes that could dissipate heat from the internal components and could save users the torment of using hot terminals. With a thickness of 0.6mm, these passive cooling systems will not allow thickness reduction of future terminals, and this is a problem that any producer takes seriously into account.

Smartphone players such as Apple, Samsung Electronics and High Tech Computer (HTC) have started showing interest in adopting ultra-thin heat pipes for their smartphones and are expected to release heat pipe-adopted models in the fourth quarter, at the earliest, according to sources from cooling module player.

Apart from thickness, these systems are difficult to produce passive cooling having a rate of only 30%, so neither Apple nor Samsung or HTC cannot afford to implement them because they cannot produce enough of the many components to be implemented in mobile terminals. Given that Apple devices are overheating, especially when connected to 4G networks, it is possible that in the future to see such technology implemented in them, but only to the extent that they will be suitable for devices.

Although at first glance this might seem to be a problem, after I tested the capabilities of the application, not once did I happened to accidentally press another implemented command.

As the slider from its native application, it allows you to find the exact moment you’re looking for. Currently, this tweak is compatible with iOS 5 and iOS 6. I tested it on an iPhone running on iOS 6.1.2 and it works just fine I could say. Even if LSScrubing only works with Stock Music app at this time, the developer has announced that is working on compatibility with Spotify in the future.

At $1.99, the app is almost mandatory for those who use the phone mostly for listening to music, and now with iOS 7 is exactly the kind of feature that should be implemented in standard operating system.

Shortly after Apple unveiled the requirements to be met for gaming accessories compatible with iOS 7 devices people at Kotaku have revealed what appears to be the first game controller “Made for iPhone”.

Showing its design which closely follows recommendations made by Apple, the controller to form a frame in which the iPhone is placed in a horizontal position provides a circular D-pad, 4 buttons for commands and a Pause button. According to Apple’s instructions, each gamepad for iOS 7 have to contain 2 or 4 side buttons, which unfortunately are not visible in the picture provided.

With many months before iOS 7 presentation at the WWDC 2013, Evad3rs and p0sixninja announced that they had prepared based exploits from which could be developed a jailbreak solution for the new version of the operating system. It’s been a week since then and so far none of the two entities doesn’t tell us if these exploits are still vulnerable, but p0sixninja promises to make checks.

Since a week ago we haven’t learned anything about the vulnerabilities available in iOS 7, however, some of them have disappeared, otherwise hackers would quickly praised what they have in their possession.

Even so, I do not think we have to worry about any particular point of view, because the jailbreak solutions have become so profitable that hackers cannot afford to not develop at least one for each iOS version in part. If this year we have two entities that have jailbreak solutions available online, there is a good chance that the waiting time for launching one will be small enough.

Apple Is Preparing A Series Of Important Changes For Gamers Who Use Game Center

If you are one of the nearly 300 million users that actually uses Game Center platform from Apple daily, well Apple has prepared a series of important changes for you. The company plans to completely eliminate cheaters that displays fake scores in Game Center, but there are also numerous improvements in terms of multiplayer mode.

Apple plans to filter all scores sent to Game Center to not display the wrong ones, allows developers to set limits for the maximum scores submitted by users and enable developers to display scores changed only locally, not in the Game Center network.

Apple implemented a kind of blacklist that allows us to block calls from phone numbers, emails sent from them or FaceTime calls.

iOS 7 Block is the name under which you will recognize a function that many have asked for several years ago in iOS, and the company decided to implement it now. Basically Apple implemented in iOS 7 an almost completed blacklist, which allows us to block voice/video calls, and messages. Specifically, using the blocking function you can block contacts, or Apple’s FaceTime system, but you will also block the possibility to send iMessage or SMS.

Contacts which there are blocked will receive a busy signal when calling, and messages sent to you will not ever be sent without that person know that you have blocked it. In the case of iMessage there is still a problem because the block on an iPhone does not equate as the block for the entire system, so an iMessage sent to your email address will arrive on a Mac, for example, if in the Messages application from OS X you are logged with the same email address.

To block contacts and phone numbers you have 3 options which I will detail below:

You can block any direct contact from the new FaceTime app which is available on iOS, blocking is done by accessing a contact, make a scroll to the bottom of the screen, selecting the Block this caller button and confirm the alert;
You can block any contacts or phone numbers that are not in the contact list using the Phone application from which you select the phone number or contact, making a scroll to the bottom of the screen, you select the Block this caller button and confirm the alert;
The last option is to access the Settings application and Phone menus, Messages or FaceTime, each having a sub-menu display called Blocked, in it being represented blocked numbers/contacts.

Choosing the last option allows you to block, most likely, contacts or phone numbers for certain services, but you cannot block the call by unknown numbers.

Interest In iOS 7 Beta 1 Is Double That Recorded For The iOS 6 Beta

iOS 7 Beta 1 was released Monday by Apple, and those from Chitika monitored the evolution in the U.S. and Canada to see how much are the users interested to test the new version of the operating system. Their monitoring showed that 0.22% of iDevice owners in the U.S. and Canada are running iOS 7 at the moment and we probably talk about 1 million terminals which installed the latest iOS version.

The figures represent an installed base obtained after 3 days of launching iOS 7 Beta 1, and if compared to last year, iOS 6 beta was installed on 0.11% devices in the U.S. and Canada a month after its launch.

Notably however, the number of impressions generated by iOS 7 beta users over our network has continued to increase. For comparison, while we previously observed users of the iOS 6 beta generating 0.11% of all iOS traffic following the third beta release on July 16, 2012, iOS 7 users are already responsible for 0.22% of all North American Web traffic from compatible devices two days after its initial release. However, it is worth noting that the third iteration of the iOS 6 beta was available on some iPad models, specifically version two and above.

Basically we are talking about double interest in just 3 days and this percentage will increase significantly as Apple will release new iOS 7 beta versions to resolve issues of functionality, so over a month we could probably talk about a user base of 1%. Apple has sold 600 million devices since 2007 and until now, no one knows how many percent are active, but because we are talking about available figures only in the U.S. and Canada, we can definitely say that in the whole world there are between a minimum of 1 and 2 million testing iOS 7 at the moment.

Microsoft Launches Office Mobile For Office 365 In App Store

With only a few tens of minutes ago Microsoft released the Office Mobile application for Office 365 in App Store, through it giving users the ability to access, view and edit documents created in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.

The app only works for users who have an Office 365 subscription and using an Internet connection they can access their documents anywhere they are, but only from the iPhone terminals. The application does not even offer so many features for editing documents, unlike iWork suite or QuickOffice Pro, but it is a step forward made by those from Redmond.

Microsoft Office Mobile is the official Office companion optimized for your iPhone. You can access, view and edit your Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint documents from virtually anywhere. Documents look like the originals, thanks to support for charts, animations, SmartArt graphics and shapes. When you make quick edits or add comments to a document, the formatting and content remain intact.
