I must say that iPod Touch 5th generation looks almost better than an iPhone 5 but then again its not a "phone" right?
Below is the video of a guy who is unboxing iPod Touch 5 and explains few things about it too.
With its ability to play music, stream video, take phenomenal pictures and HD video, games, and enjoy face time, there isn’t much the iPod Touch 4 can’t do. Here are some tips on how to get the most from your iPod Touch and some tricks we can’t even believe Apple thought of.

Let’s break it down and explore some of the amazing features of the iPod touch, and see what’s new. Face time – what is it, and why do we need it? Face time is just that, video calling where you can see each others face. We might not actually need it, but it sure is cool.

Air Play is there for you to wirelessly stream the content on your iPod Touch 4 to your tv, via Apple TV. Here’s a tip: you can also stream your music through your tv, for that big theatre sound. And speaking of music, the iPod Touch 4 is the first iPod that gives you direct access to ITunes, meaning you can download music and other content directly to your iPod wirelessly.

iOS steals the show. It’s the operating system that runs your iPod Touch 4 and lets you see and do everything on your screen with the touch of your finger. IOS 5 has loads of new features, 200 of them as a matter of fact. One fantastic new feature on the iPod Touch 4, with iOS 5, is the ease of access to your notification center. Easily pull down the center at any time no matter what you’re doing and see who’s called, mailed, or left you a message. There is a new reminders app as well, so you never forget those important items, and it has a locations feature as well that can remind you to do something based on where you are. Twitter is now built right in for all your tweeting needs. One of the neatest features is the split keyboard. With the touch of a finger, split your keyboard in two, to make it easier to type and text.

The iPod Touch 4 has loads of new features, more for you to love! It now comes in white as well as black, has a lower price point, and with the introduction of IOS 5, gives you more bang for your buck. There has never been a better time to buy the iPod Touch 4, and with the 8GB model starting at just $199, the news is all good.

Thank you for subscribing to ipod touch tricks feeds.

3G for iPod Touch Review

Technology moved on and time came when iPod Touch can not only be music listening device and connect to “Wifi” but also have 3G! Introducing to you 3G for iPod Touch by Virgin Mobile!

At fist I was bit skeptical about whole 3G for iPod Touch and on top of that, why would I need 3G for iPod Touch when I have smartphone or iPad for that?

Nice thing about the 3G for iPod Touch is not only connection but also something you can take on the road and have wifi turned on all the time. While many carriers charge $30+ for data plan with Virgin Mobile I got it for $20 and what I like most about it? NO FREAKING CONTRACT! :)

Anyway, if you are in USA and want 3G for your iPod Touch you can either go to Virgin Mobile

What do you think about the 3G for iPod Touch? So today I wanted to share some of those codes with you.

Originally I wrote that article on one of the best Technology News blogs but here I go again.
PushMail app is cool, am not saying that because I got redeem codes, but because I use it constantly on my iPad 2 (Wifi) and on my iPod Touch 4 , and reason I use it on those devices is because I am not on Mac all the time.

What is PushMail?
Pushmail basically is a forwarding email service that notifies you of your emails INSTANTLY and when I say Instantly I mean blazing fast! I tested it on numerous occasions and I got email notification within 1 second upon arrival in my mailbox. Basically you forward your email to this address they give you, and once email arrives into that inbox you get notified instantly. Best part about it is that you can setup multiple email addresses and color them. Yes you are able to view and respond to that email right from the screen.

For more details how you can win this app for free, please visit MWD now where I originally wrote about this app , and let me know what you think. I think I have 7 codes left, which means 7 lucky winners!
Thank you for subscribing to ipod touch tricks feeds.

iPod Touch Wi-Fi Grayed Out or No Wi-Fi

Just came along few same questions in my email regarding iPod touch Wi-Fi Grayed out bar or No Wi-Fi (Wireless) at all. Well I do feel your pain, because it happened to mine not too long ago. After 5 minutes of research I found this to be helpful, at least in my situation was

Go To Settings

Click on Safari

Go bit down and click Clear Cache, Clear Cookies, Clear History

Hold the Top (sleep/awake) button until you get red bar to swipe it

Swipe the red bar to the left (iPod Touch should now turn off)

Then Hold the Top (Sleep/Awake) button until you see Apple logo

Wait until front screen displays

See if that fixed it.

In most cases, this will do the trick. Another suggestion for you I have is to, reset the iPod Touch you can do it many ways, one way is to do it from the Settings and another one is via iTunes.

Hope this helps, do let me know in commenting section below.

Thank you for subscribing to ipod touch tricks feeds.

How to get (Wi-Fi) Internet on iPod Touch Everywhere

Well I know some of you are mad because iPod Touch does not have 3G network. You can actually get internet on iPod Touch everywhere you go with small gizmo called MiFi. MiFi can be obtained at Verizon or Virgin Mobile, I would prefer Virgin Mobile because they are A LOT cheaper.

How do you get internet on iPod Touch?
Sign up with Virgin Mobile, wait until you get MiFi and all you really have to do is turn it on and viola you are on internet everywhere you go!

Plans are not that expensive:
$10 gets you 100MB and it's valid for 10 days
$40 is unlimited data for 1 month!

MiFi is basically a 3G network that gets converted to Wi-Fi. What I like about MiFi is that you can hook up 5 devices to it and its pretty fast too.
Thank you for subscribing to ipod touch tricks feeds.

iPod Touch Gets iOS 4.2

Hey dear iPod Touch fans! Today is a big day for you! iOS 4.2 is now availiable for iPod Touch here is the Apple press release:

CUPERTINO, California—November 22, 2010—Apple® today announced that iOS 4.2, the latest version of the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, is available today for download for iPad™, iPhone® and iPod touch®. iOS 4.2 brings over 100 new features from iOS 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2 to iPad including Multitasking, Folders, Unified Inbox, Game Center, AirPlay® and AirPrint.

“iOS 4.2 makes the iPad a completely new product, just in time for the holiday season,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Once again, the iPad with iOS 4.2 will define the target that other tablets will aspire to, but very few, if any, will ever be able to hit.”

iPad users can now run their favorite apps and switch between them instantly, while preserving iPad’s legendary battery life. Users can organize their apps with drag-and-drop simplicity using Folders, and Mail now features a Unified Inbox, fast inbox switching and a threaded message view.

Game Center allows iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users to challenge and play friends or be matched automatically with new opponents, showcase their scores and achievements, and discover new games their friends are playing.

AirPlay is a new feature for streaming music, video and photos wirelessly from iPad, iPhone and iPod touch to Apple TV®, transforming Apple TV into a great accessory for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. iOS users also will be able to use AirPort Express® and AirPlay to stream wirelessly to any stereo or powered speakers, or directly to AirPlay-enabled speakers coming to market in the months ahead.

AirPrint is a next-generation Wi-Fi print architecture that dramatically simplifies printing by completely eliminating printer drivers. A selection of AirPrint enabled printers including the HP Photosmart, HP LaserJet Pro and HP Officejet will be the first to support printing direct from iOS devices. iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users can simply tap to print their documents or photos wirelessly to any printer that supports AirPrint.

The Find My iPhone (or iPad or iPod touch) feature is now free to use without a MobileMe℠ subscription and helps you locate your missing device.* The Find My iPhone app is a free download on the App Store℠ and lets users easily locate a missing device on a map and have it display a message or play a sound. Users can even remotely lock or wipe data from a lost device to protect privacy.

Other new features that iOS 4.2 brings to the iPad include: the ability to rent TV episodes directly to iPad using the iTunes® App with a 30 day viewing window and a 48 hour session window once playback is started; the ability to easily find and highlight specific words and phrases on web pages in Safari®; enhanced enterprise support so businesses can take advantage of stronger security features, new device management capabilities and improved enterprise integration; industry-leading accessibility enhancements; and support for 25 additional languages, including Korean, Portuguese and Traditional Chinese.

The revolutionary iPad allows users to connect with their apps and content in a more intimate, intuitive and fun way than ever before. You can browse the web, read and send email, enjoy and share photos, watch HD videos, listen to music, play games, read ebooks and much more, using the innovative Multi-Touch™ user interface. iPad weighs just 1.5 pounds, making it easy to carry and use anywhere.

Today, customers have downloaded more than seven billion apps from the groundbreaking App Store and more than 300,000 apps are available to consumers in 90 countries, with more than 40,000 native iPad apps. Over 125 million iOS users around the world can choose from an incredible range of apps in 20 categories, including games, business, news, sports, health, reference and travel.

Thank you for subscribing to ipod touch tricks feeds.

VLC for iPod Touch is Out!

Long waited app just got released! Thing is that iPhone 4 users have been waiting for White design for some time now. Few sources are reporting that Apple is still designing white iPhone 4 and the main problem seems to be the white color. Same sources are reporting that Apple did not release white iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4th Generation because color of the Home Button and Front Design white color did not match.

I still like the black design more than white if you ask me but then again there is many of you that would rather have White front design than black.

If you could order iPod Touch in any color which color would that be?
Thank you for subscribing to ipod touch tricks feeds.

How To Use FaceTime on iPod Touch 4G (4th Generation)

Now that iPod Touch 4G is out many still have issues with FaceTime. Well I wanted to write how to use Facetime on iPod Touch 4G for those that still have troubles.

Make sure you have Wi-Fi connection. If you don't have apple account you probably want to register it first, but most of you already have that so I won't go to deep into explaining how to register apple account.

Open up your Facetime (Green looking button)

Once you have Facetime up it will ask you for your apple ID which I mentioned before that you will need one. So go through that step.
Now I hope you have lots of friends with either iPhone 4 or iPod Touch 4G because you will need at least one to start FaceTime.
In contacts find your friend and hit FaceTime button. Make sure that your friend has Facetime setup already otherwise you will not be able to connect with them.

Hope that small tutorial worked out for you, its pretty simple to be honest. If you have any other issues, please do let me know below in comments. I love to help people.

Thanks.
Thank you for subscribing to ipod touch tricks feeds.

iPod Touch 4th Generations Info, Pictures and Release Date

Sweet! iPod Touch 4th Generation is now out. It should have camera but it is still unclear if it’s going to have microphone or LED flash light. If you ask me I would rather go with microphone because I am sure that “without motification” I could use iPod Touch 4G with Skype or even Facetime.

I think it would be really cool if iPod Touch would step up and be almost as iPhone but without calling features. Meaning that I could use Skype on Wi-Fi talking to my family etc..

via iLounge According to a source who would have reason to know, the fourth-generation iPod touch is changing back shapes—sorry, readers who have been posting with love for the dome-like curved iPod touch 2G/3G back, but that’s going away. And it’s not going to be glass like the iPhone 4, for all of you folks who were fearing accidental shatters like the ones we’ve heard Apple Stores are continuing to see on a daily basis. The new shape is…

Familiar. Think of the top of a MacBook Pro, only smaller, which is to say flat rather than curved at the center—closer to the look of the first-generation iPod touch’s back, only with modifications. The rear camera is there, but there is still some question as to whether what’s next to it will be a LED flash like the one in the iPhone 4, or a microphone like the one next to the video camera of the iPod nano. We’ve been told to expect a microphone rather than a flash, with a continuation of the bottom-mounted headphone port and Dock Connector port.

What would be your ideal iPod Touch 4G?

Thank you for subscribing to ipod touch tricks feeds.

iPod Touch 4 with Camera and Flash (Picture)

Guess what? Basically when you connect first time to your router via iPod Touch, your iPod Touch should remember WiFi password, but sometimes it does not. And that sometimes is when you set it to WPA-2 WPA encryption. For some reason it has problem and mostly I have noticed that with later firmware's than 3.0.

To fix it, just go to

http://www.xs4all.nl/~rjoris/wpapsk.html

Type in your WPA password, site will give you HEX characters.

Type HEX password in your iPod Touch when asked for your network login, and it should remember the password this time.

Thank you for subscribing to ipod touch tricks feeds.

iPod Touch 4.0 Firmware Release Date

Josh is one of our email subscriber and asked me “Cold you please tell me when iPhone OS 4 firmware is released, thanks”

My immediate response was July 21st , I thought it would be beneficial to most of you that are waiting for the new iPod Touch OS 4.0 release.

By the way, do you like the new design?

Thank you for subscribing to ipod touch tricks feeds.

Top 5 iPod Touch World Cup Apps

So my dear iPod Touch owners, World Cup is just around the corner and I have best iPod Touch World Cup Apps for you, on top that they are ALL FREE!

Please don't be shy, and share it via Twitter (Green Button) with your friends.

Here are the TOP 5 iPod Touch WORLD CUP Applications just for you!

My favorite one:
1. Looks like this iPod Touch has 2.0 MP Camera but it is not a production model. Meaning that there could be some drastic changes, for example Camera MP? Who builds 2.0MP camera now days? Also aluminum look on iPod Touch started to be a bit, boring. We are not sure if this iPod Touch is fake but according to many sources, the serial number that was attached it could be very well be 2009 third generation iPod Touch.

Checkout these pictures and me know what you think about it in comments:

Anyway, real or not real model, release date of iPod Touch 4.0 is expected to be in June for WWDC Apple Event.

For more pictures visit Tinhte who released all the info and pictures.

Thank you for subscribing to ipod touch tricks feeds.

Got Twitter? iPod Touch it!

Hi! Steve Jobs Answers All

Today Steve Jobs announced why iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad don’t support Adobe Flash. I must give him some credit on few key points, but not all. Anyway here it is:

Thoughts on Flash

Apple has a long relationship with Adobe. In fact, we met Adobe’s founders when they were in their proverbial garage. Apple was their first big customer, adopting their Postscript language for our new Laserwriter printer. Apple invested in Adobe and owned around 20% of the company for many years. The two companies worked closely together to pioneer desktop publishing and there were many good times. Since that golden era, the companies have grown apart. Apple went through its near death experience, and Adobe was drawn to the corporate market with their Acrobat products. Today the two companies still work together to serve their joint creative customers – Mac users buy around half of Adobe’s Creative Suite products – but beyond that there are few joint interests.

I wanted to jot down some of our thoughts on Adobe’s Flash products so that customers and critics may better understand why we do not allow Flash on iPhones, iPods and iPads. Adobe has characterized our decision as being primarily business driven – they say we want to protect our App Store – but in reality it is based on technology issues. Adobe claims that we are a closed system, and that Flash is open, but in fact the opposite is true. Let me explain.

First, there’s “Open”.

Adobe’s Flash products are 100% proprietary. They are only available from Adobe, and Adobe has sole authority as to their future enhancement, pricing, etc. While Adobe’s Flash products are widely available, this does not mean they are open, since they are controlled entirely by Adobe and available only from Adobe. By almost any definition, Flash is a closed system.

Apple has many proprietary products too. Though the operating system for the iPhone, iPod and iPad is proprietary, we strongly believe that all standards pertaining to the web should be open. Rather than use Flash, Apple has adopted HTML5, CSS and JavaScript – all open standards. Apple’s mobile devices all ship with high performance, low power implementations of these open standards. HTML5, the new web standard that has been adopted by Apple, Google and many others, lets web developers create advanced graphics, typography, animations and transitions without relying on third party browser plug-ins (like Flash). HTML5 is completely open and controlled by a standards committee, of which Apple is a member.

Apple even creates open standards for the web. For example, Apple began with a small open source project and created WebKit, a complete open-source HTML5 rendering engine that is the heart of the Safari web browser used in all our products. WebKit has been widely adopted. Google uses it for Android’s browser, Palm uses it, Nokia uses it, and RIM (Blackberry) has announced they will use it too. Almost every smartphone web browser other than Microsoft’s uses WebKit. By making its WebKit technology open, Apple has set the standard for mobile web browsers.

Second, there’s the “full web”.

Adobe has repeatedly said that Apple mobile devices cannot access “the full web” because 75% of video on the web is in Flash. What they don’t say is that almost all this video is also available in a more modern format, H.264, and viewable on iPhones, iPods and iPads. YouTube, with an estimated 40% of the web’s video, shines in an app bundled on all Apple mobile devices, with the iPad offering perhaps the best YouTube discovery and viewing experience ever. Add to this video from Vimeo, Netflix, Facebook, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, ESPN, NPR, Time, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Sports Illustrated, People, National Geographic, and many, many others. iPhone, iPod and iPad users aren’t missing much video.

Another Adobe claim is that Apple devices cannot play Flash games. This is true. Fortunately, there are over 50,000 games and entertainment titles on the App Store, and many of them are free. There are more games and entertainment titles available for iPhone, iPod and iPad than for any other platform in the world.

Third, there’s reliability, security and performance.

Symantec recently highlighted Flash for having one of the worst security records in 2009. We also know first hand that Flash is the number one reason Macs crash. We have been working with Adobe to fix these problems, but they have persisted for several years now. We don’t want to reduce the reliability and security of our iPhones, iPods and iPads by adding Flash.

In addition, Flash has not performed well on mobile devices. We have routinely asked Adobe to show us Flash performing well on a mobile device, any mobile device, for a few years now. We have never seen it. Adobe publicly said that Flash would ship on a smartphone in early 2009, then the second half of 2009, then the first half of 2010, and now they say the second half of 2010. We think it will eventually ship, but we’re glad we didn’t hold our breath. Who knows how it will perform?

Fourth, there’s battery life.

To achieve long battery life when playing video, mobile devices must decode the video in hardware; decoding it in software uses too much power. Many of the chips used in modern mobile devices contain a decoder called H.264 – an industry standard that is used in every Blu-ray DVD player and has been adopted by Apple, Google (YouTube), Vimeo, Netflix and many other companies.

Although Flash has recently added support for H.264, the video on almost all Flash websites currently requires an older generation decoder that is not implemented in mobile chips and must be run in software. The difference is striking: on an iPhone, for example, H.264 videos play for up to 10 hours, while videos decoded in software play for less than 5 hours before the battery is fully drained.

When websites re-encode their videos using H.264, they can offer them without using Flash at all. They play perfectly in browsers like Apple’s Safari and Google’s Chrome without any plugins whatsoever, and look great on iPhones, iPods and iPads.

Fifth, there’s Touch.

Flash was designed for PCs using mice, not for touch screens using fingers. For example, many Flash websites rely on “rollovers”, which pop up menus or other elements when the mouse arrow hovers over a specific spot. Apple’s revolutionary multi-touch interface doesn’t use a mouse, and there is no concept of a rollover. Most Flash websites will need to be rewritten to support touch-based devices. If developers need to rewrite their Flash websites, why not use modern technologies like HTML5, CSS and JavaScript?

Even if iPhones, iPods and iPads ran Flash, it would not solve the problem that most Flash websites need to be rewritten to support touch-based devices.

Sixth, the most important reason.

Besides the fact that Flash is closed and proprietary, has major technical drawbacks, and doesn’t support touch based devices, there is an even more important reason we do not allow Flash on iPhones, iPods and iPads. We have discussed the downsides of using Flash to play video and interactive content from websites, but Adobe also wants developers to adopt Flash to create apps that run on our mobile devices.

We know from painful experience that letting a third party layer of software come between the platform and the developer ultimately results in sub-standard apps and hinders the enhancement and progress of the platform. If developers grow dependent on third party development libraries and tools, they can only take advantage of platform enhancements if and when the third party chooses to adopt the new features. We cannot be at the mercy of a third party deciding if and when they will make our enhancements available to our developers.

This becomes even worse if the third party is supplying a cross platform development tool. The third party may not adopt enhancements from one platform unless they are available on all of their supported platforms. Hence developers only have access to the lowest common denominator set of features. Again, we cannot accept an outcome where developers are blocked from using our innovations and enhancements because they are not available on our competitor’s platforms.

Flash is a cross platform development tool. It is not Adobe’s goal to help developers write the best iPhone, iPod and iPad apps. It is their goal to help developers write cross platform apps. And Adobe has been painfully slow to adopt enhancements to Apple’s platforms. For example, although Mac OS X has been shipping for almost 10 years now, Adobe just adopted it fully (Cocoa) two weeks ago when they shipped CS5. Adobe was the last major third party developer to fully adopt Mac OS X.

Our motivation is simple – we want to provide the most advanced and innovative platform to our developers, and we want them to stand directly on the shoulders of this platform and create the best apps the world has ever seen. We want to continually enhance the platform so developers can create even more amazing, powerful, fun and useful applications. Everyone wins – we sell more devices because we have the best apps, developers reach a wider and wider audience and customer base, and users are continually delighted by the best and broadest selection of apps on any platform.

Conclusions.

Flash was created during the PC era – for PCs and mice. Flash is a successful business for Adobe, and we can understand why they want to push it beyond PCs. But the mobile era is about low power devices, touch interfaces and open web standards – all areas where Flash falls short.

The avalanche of media outlets offering their content for Apple’s mobile devices demonstrates that Flash is no longer necessary to watch video or consume any kind of web content. And the 200,000 apps on Apple’s App Store proves that Flash isn’t necessary for tens of thousands of developers to create graphically rich applications, including games.

New open standards created in the mobile era, such as HTML5, will win on mobile devices (and PCs too). Perhaps Adobe should focus more on creating great HTML5 tools for the future, and less on criticizing Apple for leaving the past behind.

Steve Jobs
April, 2010

You can read the same thing here

Thank you for subscribing to ipod touch tricks feeds.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://ipodtouchtricks.blogspot.com/2010/04/why-ipod-touch-has-no-flash-steve-jobs.html' title='Why iPod Touch Has No Flash?
