This event is open to all riders, club and non-club members of all abilities.

For newer riders a reliability trial is a set route which you aim to ride at a pace you decide before you leave. It isn’t a race, but a good social ride with excellent cakes available at the end.

The 100km route leaves between 9and 9.30am, 70km between 10 and 10.30am and 45km between 11 and 11.30am.

£2.00 per rider including map & directions (signed rides are Sportives)

Under 18’s need to have a signed parental consent form to ride.  Under 16’s must be accompanied on the ride by a parent or guardian, 16-18’s can ride unaccompanied, but  only with a signed parental consent.

Riders are advised to take their own repair spares and enough food/drink for the days ride and some spare money to buy food at HQ on return.

Riders in groups should ride no more than 2 side by side.

You will have seen the reports on the race; if not have a look here for the EADT stuff, including, hopefully, a new pic gallery, or the BC site. There is also an online gallery of some rather stylish pics here.

It was a great credit to the club and to of the small army of helpers, including non-member volunteers, who turned out to make sure that it went without a hitch.

It was also a really encouraging ‘dry run’ (if you can call a national champs a dry run) for the European Chamnpionships in November. Can’t wait!

Chain Gang

 

What
  • Approx 40 miles at the pace of the group
  • Everyone stays together
  • Non stop 2.5-3.5 hour ride
  • Chat before or/ after if you wish, ‘whilst riding if you can’

Where
  • 11am in the car park at Northgate Sports Centre
  • 9am in front of Jerwood Dance Studio – Ipswich Waterfront

When
  • Fortnightly Saturday rides
  • February 4 & 18
  • March 3, 17 & 31
  • Fortnightly Sunday rides
  • January 29
  • February 12 & 26
  • March 11 & 25

How
  • Riding as a group for the duration of the ride
  • Coffee stop half way through
  • Group ride/ training = chain gang
  • Pace will be that of the group, probably getting harder as the ride progresses
  • Nobody has to work on the front if they don’t want to
  • It’s not a race so no attacking

Who
  • Aimed at riders who can complete the distance and want to experience group riding for the first time or social riding
  • Speed is not essential as the group rides together and no one is left on their own
  • Riders to where IBC club kit if you have it
  • Under 16′s welcome with accompanying adult/guardian
  • Aimed at riders interested in starting to race or train in a group
  • Riders must have suitable kit and be able to repair your own punctures
  • Riders must be confident of your ability to ride 50 miles or so at pace
  • Riders must be able to find your own way home if you get dropped or puncture
  • Riders to where IBC club kit if you have it
  • Not suitable for under 16′s

Rider must haves
