iPhone 3.1 beta 2 is out

Today Apple released the iPhone 3.1 beta 2 update to developers. iPhone developers can download the new iPhone 3.1 beta firmware and SDK from the iPhone Developer center. If you’re using an unlocked iPhone 3G/3GS or plan on unlocking in the future, you must stay far away from this update. This update upgrades the baseband and permanently blocks the ultrasn0w and purplesn0w unlock.

iPhone hacker genius, Geohot has once again outsmarted the Dev Team! First he launched his own iPhone 3GS jailbreaking software dubbed purplera1n, which I must admit is better and easier to use than the iPhone Dev Team’s redsn0w software. He has now released his own iPhone 3G/3GS unlock software dubbed purple sn0w. purple sn0w is a better alternative to the iPhone Dev Team’s ultrasn0w unlocking software.

purplesn0w is still in beta, so don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t work well for you right now. Geohot and his team have definitely spent a lot of time making this software unlock and you can’t expect them to fix all the problems with just one release. Just try the purplesn0w software right now, and leave your feedback in the comments. This will help Geohot improve it!

Who should be using purplesn0w? Only users that have a jailbroken iPhone 3gS and want to unlock their iPhone 3G S to use it with another carrier (T-Mobile only in the US). purple sn0w is very easy to install, go to how to install purplesn0w for details.

It’ll be interesting to see what the Dev Team thinks of this. I’m just glad that we don’t need to just rely on one team for our jailbreaks/unlocks.

Ziphone 3.0 jailbreak Windows

It has only been a few days since the iPhone OS 3.0 update was released to public, but now a lot of people are frantically searching to find a jailbreak that works. Unfortunately the only method users can jailbreak with for now is with PwnageTool which is available for Mac. A lot of jailbreakers are Windows uses, and they’re trying to find an alternative to PwnageTool. There is no Ziphone 3.0 jailbreak for Windows, and there is no Pwnage Tool 3.0 Windows jailbreak either. The only Windows jailbreak tool available is QuickPwn. Go to that site and subscribe to their new letter on top, you’ll receive notification once the jailbreak is released. I can’t wait until it’s released so I can jailbreak my iPhone 3G and unlock it with ultrasn0w.

Pwnage Tool 3.0 Windows

Today iPhone Dev Team released PwnageTool 3.0 for Mac users. Unfortunately there is no Pwnage Tool 3.0 for Windows, which some of the readers here were asking for. The Dev Team has always made PwnageTool only for Mac users. Fortunately there is a jailbreaking tool that works for both Windows and Mac, and its called QuickPwn. You will need to get QuickPwn 3.0 Windows once it comes out. Right now it’s not out yet. Once it is out though I’ll make a post with the download links for Mac and Windows users. Anyone here using Pwnage Tool? Post your jailbreaking experience over here.

How to Activate iPhone 3G S

Today I got an iPhone 3G S from the Apple Store. I just wanted to make a blog post to show other iPhone 3G S owners how they can activate iPhone 3G S.

Here is how to Activate iPhone 3G S:

First, plug in your iPhone and open iTunes.

1.Enter in your Billing Zip Code and your Last 4 digits of your social security fo step 1.

2. In step 2 you just read and accept the iPhon terms and conditions.

3. In step 3 The processing activation screen comes up and it says that this may take up to 3 minutes.

4. A screen comes up which says Activation Pending. Your activation requires addition time to complete. Please note: Due to current iPhone activation volumes, it may take up to 48 hours to resolve your issues. We will send a confirmation to (you e-mail address) once your activation is complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes. You can set up your iPhone and explore the features that do not require access to AT&T network. To get started, please disconnect and then reconnect your iPhone.

I have the Waiting for activation box on my iPhone 3G S. I hope it gets activated soon! Anyone else activating their iPhone 3G S? Share your experience!

Is the iPhone 3G 3.0 unlock ultrasnow, or ultrasn0w with a 0? I think it’s the one with a 0. iPhone Dev Team originally planned on releasing the iPhone 3G ultrasn0w unlock today, but unfortunately they were unable to release it due to bugs with the YouTube activation and other issues. Many people are anxiously waiting to unlock and jailbreak iPhone OS 3.0. I have been waiting too, but I can wait more. The Dev Team do this for us for free and if they didn’t do it who else would have done it? Ill be checking for ultrasn0w updates and posting them here once I find them.

Right after I posted my iPhone 3G 3.0 IPSW download, I got a ton of people asking me to post the iPhone 3.0 ipsw download here as well. At first I wondered why a lot of people are looking to download this then I noticed that the iPhone Dev Team released the PwnageTool jailbreak for iPhone 3.0 on their site. Many people are trying to find the iPhone 3.0 IPSW so that they can download and jailbreak with the new PwnageTool. Good luck to everyone trying to jailbreak.
