With an annual attendance of more than 800 people, Toast To Life Gala has raised more than $2.4 million since its inception in 1999, and has become one of the most eagerly anticipated fundraising events of the year.

The centerpiece of Toast To Life Gala has always been the culinary fare presented by a collection of Dallas’ most popular restaurants, along with free-flowing wines and spirits! Guests indulge in the latest epicurean creations prepared by prominent Dallas chefs while participating in the Silent and Luxury Auctions – all with the knowledge that 100% of the evening’s proceeds directly benefit the HIV/AIDS programs and services of Resource Center Dallas.

The over-the-top auctions have grown in focus to include a vast array of local restaurant participants ranging from fine dining to casual favorites, luxury amenities, and unparalleled travel packages. In addition, many well-known local artists contribute one-of-a-kind pieces, with every guest given an opportunity to walk away with something special.

For 28 years, the Center has provided programs of interest to LGBT individuals and critical assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS and their families. Annually, staff members and more than 1,100 volunteers provide services and education to more than 50,000 individuals in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. As part of a comprehensive approach to treatment, education and prevention, the Center administers programs serving the HIV/AIDS community, including: dental care; nutrition programming; health insurance premium and co-pay assistance; an HIV/AIDS helpline; and support groups designed to empower community members living with HIV/AIDS. From providing care to HIV+ individuals and their families to educating students and corporate executives about LGBT issues, the Center is proud of its commitment to and delivery of a full continuum of services to people in need.

Put your culinary skills to work in our salsa making challenge! 
Each team will have a designated table equipped with a glass “salsa” bowl, mixing spoons, knives, cutting boards, plastic aprons, markers, and utensils. In the center of the room will be a spice table and vegetable “marketplace.” This is where teams will select ingredients to make their recipes unique.

Starting with onions, tomatoes and cilantro, the teams will compete at a game of trivia about MPI with correct answers earning them additional salsa ingredients of their choice. After the game concludes, a panel of judges will taste each unique salsa to determine a winner.

In 2012, Brides are bringing the focus back to their personalities and embracing an intimate feel by limiting their guest list to close friends and family and staying close to the following trends:

Going Green
A Bride’s creativity can shine through repurposing items for centerpieces, using local flowers for arrangements or produce for catering or simply delivering unique video Save the Dates online. Even small touches like donating to a favorite charity in lieu of favors or registering for eco-friendly honeymoons can allow a couple to embrace the Green trend without having to hug a tree.

Vintage Theme
Coupling with the Going Green trend, Brides are showing their something old by bringing back old-Hollywood style and touches from the 60s, 70s and 80s.
Brides will want to hit the thrift and antique stores to give an “aged” feel to their furniture and décor. They will also recreate family traditions or incorporate old family wedding photos into their reception decorations.

Think Outside the Church
To increase the uniqueness of their nuptials, the Bride and Groom are moving out of the traditional setting for their ceremony and reception. A museum, park or warehouse not only expresses the individuality of the couple, it also reduces decorating costs by taking advantage of the surroundings and ambiance of the space.
Trends are ever-changing, but one remains the same – the wedding should focus on the individual interests of the Bride and Groom, after all that is what it is all about.
