I post here only to highlight the funny/insightful comment by "Muckyduck":
Jesus was an unmarried thirtysomething Jewish boy from a nice family who up and decided to leave his honorable occupation as a carpenter to wander the earth with 12 other dudes...and who said nothing at all about being gay, I might add...if the [[Continue reading]]

I just watched this thanks to Netflix and a cool article about it from MentalFloss.com explaining the background of the director being on the stupid anticommunist blacklist during the McCarthy era.
The sex industry here is mostly legal, and it has boomed alongside the thriving mining industry. Sex workers from around the world have flocked to Western Australia, drawn to the big money earned by thousands of miners.

Part of having a scientific bent is the urge to classify.  Supplements, Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (SCAM) is such a hodgepodge of ideas and practices it is difficult to categorize. Carolus Linnaeus  I am not, but in my mind I have come to classify SCAM into four broad types.

Type 1: Total nonsense with zero prior plausibility. These are SCAMs based on [[Continue reading]]

Over 47 Million Americans Now Participate in the Food Stamp Program

Earlier this month, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reported that over 47 million Americans take part in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the food stamp program. A recent study found that the number of individuals on food stamps exceeds the populations [[Continue reading]]

I just learned of this policy today. Maybe it's in the student handbook, but I missed it if it is. So you can only weight a grade at 15% max, have to have 10 or more grades per six weeks, and 5% of the grade is set aside for the six-weeks summary exam. If I taught I [[Continue reading]]
