I receive my first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination tomorrow, the Pfizer (Comirnaty) vaccine, and I felt that it warranted a full head and face shave for the occasion.

I loaded the brush up with plenty of the Strawberry Fields shave soap, created a lovely thick lather on the dome and softened up the soap with a small amount of water. Being only a few days since my last shave, the first pass was much more acceptable than the previous shave. Knocked down a large amount of growth, with some areas coming up as a DFS.

With the wonderful lather, a second pass was essential to knock down the rest of the hair. A few touch ups later and the head shave was a success. I really do enjoy a good head shave.

Afterwards, I swapped from the Lupo to the Stamford with the same Usta blade. Lathered up the face with the Strawberry Fields and a first pass with the Stamford. I don’t remember this much blade feel from the Stamford.

A first pass removed very much all of my facial hair. A quick splash of water and another face full of lather for a second across the grain pass. A few little touch ups and being careful to avoid nicking the lump on my chin. A wonderful shave, smooth as silk and ready for tomorrow’s vaccination.

Prep: Hot Splahs

Razor: Razorock – Lupo Aluminium

Blade: Derby Usta

Brush: Yaqi – Lucky Dice

Lather: Ariana & Evans – Strawberry Fields

Post-shave: Proraso – Alum Block

I haven’t shaved my head in almost two weeks, the hair was long, and scalp was itchy and flaky from psoriasis. It needed a shave.

So the first pass was only moderately effective, most of the hair came off, but there were still large patches of hair remaining. So I lathered up again with the sweet smelling Strawberry Fields, and went for a second pass. Cleared most of it on the second pass, but still needed some touch ups.

So with soap from the brush on the hand to find the areas needing touch up, smoothed them all down trying not to aggravate the skin too much given the psoriasis.

After a quick warm water rinse, the alum block sealed any tiny nicks I couldn’t see, but also revealed I had gone a little close in some areas. Letting the alum sit for a bit before rinsing again and patting the dome dry.

A decent shave in the end, so red raw skin from psoriasis, some sun should help with that, but will also need to see a doctor for a professional opinion once i’m double vaccinated and the current lockdowns in Sydney are over.

I have been very slack when it comes to shaving recently. My last shave was almost two weeks ago. I’ve gone from 2-3 times a week to almost once a fortnight in just two months. Wow!!

Tonight’s shave saw my tub of Clubguy come to an end. Scraping the last of the soap out built myself a creamy lather for a wonderful two-and-a-half pass shave. Two passes both with and across the grain, and a half pass of touching up the stray whiskers.

Now that I’ve finished my first tub of Clubguy, I really should write down my thoughts and share them with you all.

It has been quite a few weeks since I did both a head and face shave at the same time. Time to rectify this misdemeanour.

My tub of Clubguy from PAA is getting close to being finished. After today’s shave, I think I only have a single shave left with my favourite, Clubguy.

Today’s shave consisted of two passes for both the dome and my face. Not sure what it was but today was the smoothest dome shave I’ve had in a while. Maybe it is time of day, maybe it is an older blade, maybe it is just shear luck.

Whatever it was, I’m certainly happier than I have been for the last few weeks. I’m hoping it was the full head shave.

It has been a few days since I did a head shave. New blade required or course.

I tried my DE89, and after two strokes, I gave up because it just wasn’t cutting enough hair with each pass. Swapped back to the Lupo and finished the shave. Clearly I need my first pass to be with an aggressive razor.

With my last few attempts at a head shave with the Yaqi razor, and now giving the DE89 a run which was rather mild, I think I seem to need something aggressive. Not sure what razor to go with next. Want something with a bit more weight behind it than the Lupo, but want something more aggressive than the DE89 or Yaqi Stamford.

Clearly aggressive razors are in my nature.

The mixed feelings and experiences with the Yaqi razor are confusing me, although I think I have worked them out.

I think I can only get a decent face shave with the Yaqi Stamford but not a head shave. Clearly the Yaqi works well with the flexibility of my face skin rather than the hard inflexible skin up on my noggin.

For now, I’ll have to keep the Yaqi for face shaves only, and use my other razors for up on the dome.

I’m very much having mixed feelings and experiences with my new Yaqi razor.

Tried another head shave with the Yaqi, and again even with just a few days growth, it failed to cut through a vast majority of my dome’s growth. I resorted to my Razorock again to finish the job.

I have to look closer, but I almost wonder if the blade exposure on the Yaqi isn’t enough to give me a clean cut, although I have only tried two blades with it so far. I might have to try a few more brands.

However the Yaqi worked well on my face with my last shave, so it really is a YMMV kind of razor.

Having now been sent home from the office, I can sense that some self care in the form of regular shaves no matter how cold the house is, will be necessary.

As I didn’t have much luck with the Stamford razor last shave, I wanted to give it a second chance. Also wanted to take my newest synthetic brush, loaded it up with Clubguy for a decent, not my best, lather, but good enough to get the job done.

Loaded in a Derby Usta blade, and applying the lightest pressure, as the Stamford is my heaviest razor, completed the first pass. Definitely cut down the hairs better than my first experience with the Stamford.

Completed a second pass to make the shave even closer.

Definitely happy I gave the Stamford a second go with much less hair.

After the week that I have had, I decided to leave work early for a change. Came home to find my SO and Mr 3 sleeping, so I took the opportunity for a head shave with my new Yaqi razor.

I haven’t had much luck with week old blades with just one use on them, not sure what it seems to be. I really wish it wasn’t so cold and I might actually shave more regularly than weekly.

I started today with the Stamford from Yaqi (my newest acquisition), but with two weeks of growth, it just didn’t want to bite and chew through my hair. My first experience with the Stamford is a very mild shave without much bite. After one pass and about 50% of the growth left, I swapped over to my Lupo with the Derby.

So much better! It brought the growth under control and we got down to my regular head shave expectations. I will have to give the Stamford another go with much less growth. Maybe I’ll go again in a few days, and see whether the Stamford is still mild, or just mild because of the long growth.

It has been another slack week when it comes to shaving. This time it has been over a week, and I couldn’t even bring myself to do a head shave.

The apathy from the COVID lockdown keeps building, and the cooler weather certainly isn’t helping with the motivation.

With two passes it was done. It certainly wasn’t the smoothest or most efficient shave, but it is now done, I feel better for it (something I have missed) and can start with a fresh schedule going forward.
