The past few months have been quite busy with itsworkrelated projects as well as notworkrelated thinking, tinkering and continuing sorting of our travel photography digital slide collection. We have several itsworkrelated projects in the pipe line which are very exciting, including a travel photography talk in Brighton, and we are looking forward to a great 2012 London Olympic Games.

Best of luck to all the GB athletes taking part in London 2012. We will be cheering you on all the way!

We are lucky enough to be heading to the first night of athletics, a day of fencing and the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games. Helen is literally bursting at the seams with excitement.

Goodwood Festival of Speed 2012 – Aviation Exhibition

After a great few days at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2012 we have returned home after our photographic expedition for Tag Heuer capturing the brand in and around this great motoring festival on the south coast of the UK. It’s going to be a few days before we get all the images edited but here is a quick photo from today.

Goodwood FOS this year had trains, planes and automobiles, the hospitality at the Aviation Exhibition is second to none…

The Aston Martin Sale with Bonhams 2012

On Saturday 19th May 2012 at the Aston Martin Works Service Center in Newport Pagnell Helen was invited to photograph the yearly event which see’s the sale of Aston Martin memorabilia and cars. The ever popular event saw a flurry of bidding activity which peaked at a 1991 Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato Sanction II Coupe fetching £1,100,000! We can only dream of what this money would buy us. Unfortunately the sun didn’t come out for us unlike last years event, but the Louis Roederer Champagne was flowing along with plenty of cheeky comments from the fantastic Bonhams’ auctioneers.

You will see more imagery in an editorial piece in the Summer issue of the Aston Martin Magazine, meanwhile we wanted to share a few photographs with you.

Tag Heuer & Goodwood 2012

After our attendance at last years event we have been invited back to cover the Goodwood Festival of speed 2012 for the luxury watch brand Tag Heuer. The weekend event (28th June ’12 – 1st July ’12) is packed full of style, speed and spectacular showcases of the vintage, retro and modern.

Helen will have all fingers and toes crossed that she ‘bumps’ into Jenson Button this year! We loved it in 2011 and cannot wait to see what’s on offer to document and capture in 2012.

After 13 months of travelling around the world photographing people, food and places we have returned home to the UK. We loved our time getting lost, exploring streets and soaking up other cultures (as well as a spot of beach time here and there) throughout 14 countries.

So this marks the last blog post from our notworkrelated adventures, well the travel adventures at least, but we will be moving it in another direction and our notworkrelated concepts and ideas will very much remain within the core of our development as artists. We hope that we have inspired people along the way with the 250 or so posts since our journey began in October 2010. Many thanks for following us, we appreciated your comments and the new incarnation of notworkrelated will begin very soon.

We are now looking for work opportunities and are available for freelance, commissions and work proposals. If you would like to work with us or find out what we can do for you please contact us.

Getting closer to GMT

We have successfully traversed the west coast of America (Seattle to San Francisco to Las Vegas to Zion) with a quick dip into Canada, purchased and sold a van two months later in New Zealand, explored New South Wales and Victoria in Australia and started our homeward journey back around the globe arriving in the UK May ’12. We still have more exploration to do including Indonesia, Kathmandu, trekking in the Himalayas and completing our round the world journey in India.

All of our experiences are online at notworkrelated.co.uk, we would love it if you could share in our adventures. Upon returning back home we are looking forward to working with existing clients as well as new ones, so if you require our services please do not hesitate to get in contact… our 2012 diary wants to be filled.

Just a quick update as we toil with rucksacks, finalise initial plans and say our goodbyes. For the next 9 months we shall be all about the “not” rather than the “its”. We are picking up our round the world adventure which came to a sudden halt in March and jetting off to LA, USA on Thursday! Our unscheduled return to the UK gave us the chance to do some paid work which you see on this website and add some brass to the slowly decreasing travel coffers.

We would both like to say a big thanks to everyone who has helped us get back on our feet and given us the strength to complete our travels as well as the great opportunities for work. You can follow the next stage of notworkrelated on our website and feel free to get in contact, we love to hear from you. Itsworkrelated will spring back into life when we return in May 2012!

Aston Martin – Summer 2011 Magazine

We now have the long awaited publication of the summer issue of the Aston Martin Magazine. We wouldn’t usually get this excited about but this particular issue does contain a five page spread featuring a nice selection of imagery shot during our time on the UK launch of the new Aston Martin Cygnet. We were sending images out all the time during our work on this commission so it’s nice to finally see some of the work in print going out to the masses.

To add further to the excitement (I’m not sure if we’re supposed to be that excited about it!) but it is the small things that count! Another story on the Bonhams Auction held on the 21st May features a further collection of imagery Helen shot not long after the launch. We do love a published piece or two!

Aston Martin – CEO’s & Ambitions

We had the great pleasure of attending Aston Martin’s head office earlier this week. Helen photographed two of director’s of Aston Martin…no pressure there then! CEO of Aston Martin Dr Ulrich Bez is a pro when it comes to posing for photographs and along with The Times and Bloomberg Magazine photographers we managed to elbow our way in to shoot the portraits outside of head office in Gaydon.

The sun was in and out as is the case at the moment, so we used a mixture of flash, no flash and reflected light. Following on from Dr Bez, the CFO Hanno Kirner stepped in to his portrait taken, he’s a very tall man so Helen was on her tip toes photographing him! Dave was shooting some lovely fly on the wall imagery with a slightly different take on what was going on.

Along with a few lovely cars to work with including the new Virage we went on to document a group of forty 17 year olds on a Headstart visit looking at applying to do engineering courses at Warwick University. They were truly spoilt with a factory tour, head of design presentation and a sneak peak of the One 77 building (including a very loud One 77 reving experience). What a day out for them.

Tag Heuer – Goodwood Festival of Speed

The first weekend of July saw us attend the Goodwood Festival of Speed as another Itsworkrelated collaboration. One of the main sponsors Tag Heuer were keen to creatively document their on-site sponsorship branding and involvement with the festival. Along with a VIP event we moved around the vast 12,000 acres site and documented crowds, cars, flags, branding, enjoyment, fun, the red arrows, signs, sponsorship, atmosphere and so on until the end of the day.

It’s an all round fun day out for the family, although neither of us felt we’d enjoy it quite so much over 3 days if we were punters. The weather was fantastic for the weekend and there were enough cars old and new, formula one, super cars and vintage race cars to keep us entertained. Jenson Button was there to entertain the crowds, but we didn’t get very close to the action, the closest Helen got was to his face on the Tag Heuer stand! We met some great people on a professional level and enjoyed a fab barbeque thanks to the Influence team along with the good chat of Jonathan Legard.

Highlights of the day included Formula One race car driving, stunt cross motor-bike performances and finding time to visit the vintage car area which showcased some amazing craftsmanship and bizarre but amazing engineering.

Goodwood is in a beautiful part of the country and we would love to one day attend the Goodwood revival event as this looks like a great weekend from both a photography level to just a whole heap of vintage fun!
