Much have been debated and said about mindsets, whether changing one, debating about the merits of specific ones,or speculating about the reasons why specific ones exist. With a mind boggling arrays of teachers, gurus, motivational books and programs out there, there is one thing we can all agree on and that is there is no one single answer as to what makes the perfect mindset. However I am adamant that there is a common thread that runs through all our mindsets and that is “We are all sneaky!” Yes I am sneaky and so are you!

Now I must have ruffled many feathers by this claim. I can hear many of you say “Now just a minute, I’m never sneaky!” Well , let’s put it to the test shall we?

Can you remember a time when you are in lift, a party, a crowded meeting room, the train, the mall or any public place, dressed to the nines, maintaining your ultra slick persona when this happens.

A bubbling of gas in the tummy heading desperately to the nearest exit of your rear end. This motley crew of remnants from breakfast, lunch or dinner, have a mind of itself, desperately seeking independence from your body. You have no choice but to succumb to its will unwillingly but silently ! Desperate to destroy any association with this stinky crew,you headed for the opposite direction or simply just wrinkle your nose and act politely surprised as if you are being attacked.You keep looking around hoping no one caught on that you are the original bomb maker. In the process perhaps an innocent bystander who can’t act as well as you or get away as fast from the crime scene as you, gets to bear  the brunt of many accusing stares. You are relieved. It’s better him than you. After all no real harm was done. Just a little old fart and a bit of a social embarrassment caused.

Shame on you! You were sneaky. Welcome to the human race. Be proud that you are only humanly sneaky. Wear the badge proudly for it makes you human.

Now there are some ultra sleek and cool homo sapiens who have taken sneakiness to a whole new level. I am referring to those who manipulate, plot and connive to do wrong to fellow humans while putting up a self righteous front. Now these are the ones who should be truly ashamed and should hide and slink slowly away from the rest of us mere mortals. Or maybe I should be more forgiving of this special tribe of sub homo sapiens because perhaps they just a bunch of misunderstood folks! If I have sounded harsh, forgive me for I am just human.

Before you take offence, let me say that I have the privilege to encounter one at work recently. Yes you heard me right! I did say privilege because his antics present a perfect opportunity for me to challenge my own principles and mindset successfully.My choice of response to his antics reaffirmed my stature as human being in good standing and taking myself to a higher level of evolution. For this I extent my thanks. Because he is not, I now know I am.I shall continue to wait to be able to welcome him back to the fold of us homo sapiens once again.

The Law of Attraction is about intentions and being in the flow of abundance. It’s a good antidote to stress brought on by the uncertainty of these times. Don’t get me wrong! There are lots of good stuff inside the book that can truly work. There’s a great section on web biz for those thinking or preparing for an alternative lifestyle. Overall I feel that the value of the book is that it gives people hope and points you in the correct directions. You might need to discover your own blueprint though.
My intention for this gift is that the reader find it fun to read and in the process gather a sense of hope in his own future, life and career wise. I hope my friends’ day will be filled with a little more optimism just knowing that there is an alternative waiting.

In these busy times, when parents and children have schedules packed to the max, family closeness can fall by the wayside. Most of us have to make an effort to guarantee that work, school, sports, and chores don’t swallow up the very relationships that make those things important.

When is the last time you played or goofed around with your child? Can you remember back that far? Many parents can’t. Life has made us so serious, so focused, that we’ve lost the joy of the simple things, and play was one of the first to go.

But as any child instinctively knows, play is essential to life. It brightens the heart and lightens the spirit. For kids, who live closer than we do to nature, play is as spontaneous as breathing. Sadly, most grown-ups have lost that skill. Our children can be our refresher course.

Playing with your child brings you back to the present, reminds you of what matters, and slows you down long enough to smell the roses. It also connects you emotionally with your child, rebuilding the closeness that the fast-paced, boring routines of life are all too quick to strip away.

Playing together is even more important for your child than it is for you, because she needs to feel close to you to feel loved and happy. If you’ve neglected time together for long enough, it may appear that your child isn’t interested in your attentions. She may even tell you as much. But that’s just bluster, hiding the fear that you will disappoint her again if she lets herself wish for time alone with you. If you initiate playing together, and do it at frequent intervals, even the most aloof pre-teen will start to look forward to it and, in time, throw herself into the fun.

What kind of playing should you do? Pay attention to the activities your child engages in: his idea of enjoyment. If these things seem boring to you, try hanging out nearby, observing as he does them, with words that express your curiosity. You just may find you actually develop a genuine interest. If your child is a couch potato, take up your perch on the couch beside him, but after you’re allowed “in,” initiate some play that might be more pleasant than TV.

Think back to what you did as a child that was memorable, especially activities you did with your parents that stay with you still. Think about things that are free or cost little, that involve experiencing life together. Start a list of ideas as they come, and add any of the following that you resonate with:

• Raking stacks of autumn leaves, then jumping or rolling in them
• Taking a hike through the forest preserve
• Skating at the roller rink together
• Walking the dog, taking turns with the rope
• Reading comics or joke books together (or books of poetry or stories)
• Making cookies, pizza or a cake
• Building a fort out of snow or chairs and blankets
• Playing hide and seek, hide the thimble, cards or board games
• Lying on a blanket looking up at the stars
• Sitting in front of the wood stove in a dark room, telling stories
• Making shadow figures on the wall with your hands and a flashlight
• Having a treasure hunt
• Roasting marshmallows over a fire
• Watching a parade
• Going to the aquarium, zoo or museum
• Flying kites together
• Building something
• Making a scrapbook
• Making up a silly poem or song
• Watching a movie, with popcorn and no interruptions
• Playing a memory game, like “I’m going to Grandma’s house, and in my suitcase I’m going to pack …”
• Getting up early to watch the sunrise from a hill
• Playing games of pretend
• Going somewhere special, like the beach
• Having a pancake picnic in the snow

Playing together is different than finding entertaining activities for your child. Play involves you, while entertainment excuses you from the picture. If you find yourself saying, “But my schedule is too busy for any of the things on that list,” consider whether your schedule needs some pruning. After all, who’s going to remember in 20 years if you stay late at work or not next Tuesday? But will your child ever forget the Tuesday you ride the roller coaster together?

Closeness with a child cannot be taken for granted. Like any other relationship, it will slip away unless it’s made a priority. Nothing builds trust and bonding with a child like sharing a moment of silliness and laughter. Come together for light-hearted play, and you just may find your child opens up about serious subjects. The relaxed atmosphere of play helps us let our guard down and reveal more of ourselves.

When you play together, let your child feel like the most important person in your world. Give him your undivided attention: no cell phones, no interruptions, no slipping into your own private thoughts. Be present – body, mind and spirit. Then let yourself do whatever comes naturally, with the abandon you felt when you yourself were a child. Your instincts will be your guide.

Growing closer through play is easy. It just takes dedicated moments, given on a fairly regular basis, so your child begins to count on having time with you.

Let your child re-teach you the wonderful secrets of play. You both will feel more secure and peaceful – and a whole lot happier, as the reason you do it all for, starts to come back to you.

On Thanksgiving many years ago, a young family awoke with a sense of foreboding. Instead of looking forward to a day filled with gratitude, they were preoccupied by thoughts of what they did not have. At best, they would scrape together a meager meal on this day of ‘feasting’. If they had contacted a local charity group, they would have had a turkey with all the trimmings, but they hadn’t. Why? Because they, like many other families, were proud people. Somehow they would make do with what they had.
They difficult situation led to frustration and hopelessness, then to irreparable, harsh words between the mother and father. The eldest sun felt devastated and helpless as he watched the people he loved most become more and more angry and depressed.
Then destiny intervened… a loud and unexpected knock at the door! They boy opened it and was greeted by a tall man in rumpled clothing. He was grinning broadly, caring a huge basket brimming with every conceivable Thanksgiving delight: a turkey, stuffing, pies, sweet potatoes, canned goods – everything for a holiday feast!
The family was stunned. The man at the door said, “This is from someone who knows you’re in need and wants you to know that you are loved and cared for.” At first, the father of the family didn’t want to take the basket, but the man said, “Look, I’m just a delivery person.” Smiling, he sat the basket in the boy’s arms, turned to leave, then called over his shoulder, “Have a great Thanksgiving!”
In that moment, this young man’s life was forever changed. With this simple act of kindness he learned that hope is eternal, that people – even “strangers” – really do care. The sense of gratitude he felt moved him deeply, and he swore to himself that some day he’d do well enough to give something back to other in a similar way.

This is a perfect example of how a random act of an unknown stranger,can change the life of one man who in turn went on to touch the lives of even more. I cannot help to think how often many of us let slip the opportunity to be able to say proudly, “Look it was me that first provided the catalyst for this great person to impact so many lives”. How many Anthony Robbins in our life we could have brought forth? They could have been the strangers we met, friends and enemies alike, neighbors and perhaps even our own children and loved ones

I wonder how many of us realize that to be great we don’t necessary need to have only talents and skills . All we need is just the habit to perform as much acts of kindness that we can at all levels. A  word of encouragement, a smile or even a simple gesture like a pat on the back at the right time can often turn around the lives of a person in need of a little encouragement. Very often a person on the fringe of giving up needs not money but just an acknowledgment of his existence . A listening ear, an encouragement sometimes means more than a thousand buck.

I urge all of my readers therefore not to allow the excuse that we too are financially strapped and have even greater challenges, to stop us from contributing to the goodness store of this place we call home. In fact a mentor of mine took a lot of pain to drive home in me the idea that the best way to help ourselves when everything else fail is to start helping others. By giving help, we get help. That’s a Universal Law.

A good friend insisted that I absolutely must watch this incredible true story because it is the best “instant pick me ups” one can have during those odd times when you are feeling down and resigned.
