On a conference call recently, I listened to a stay at home mom talk about how she used Facebook and Twitter to quickly create a $1200 a week income in Beachbody’s Home Business. (Yes, $1200 a “week”, not a month.)

It was an amazing call that made me realize that anyone can make money with the Beachbody MLM business opportunity. We love the laborers who keep everything running, who do the hard work. The system works because we have labor. But, here is some insight that might be valuable to use when you speak with someone who's comfortable enough in their job, that they're not thinking that they need to be a Beachbody Coach to earn money, but who's not taking into account the long term problem of only working for the salary. You don't have to be fulltime with this to make it valuable to your life.

Think of a job as renting a house versus buying a house. Being self-employed is like owning a house. Working fulltime for someone else with no residual income potential is just like renting in an apartment. In a fulltime job, you get a salary with no risk, except that someday you could lose the job if the company hits the rough patch or you don't get along with your boss or something like that. Recently, many people have discovered that even a fulltime job does not come without its risk. But as long as you pay your rent, in general, which means as long as you show up and work, you continue to get the salary. The salary is like your apartment.

Okay follow along. The rent you pay is your work and your work contributes value to the business, but you never know how long you have that job. When it's done, it's done, with no residual value for you to tap into. All the contribution, all the ideas, all the improvements you made stays with the company because they paid you for that. If you leave, just as if you tended to the lawn, the gardens, and the household improvement while you're renting a place, once you leave, you leave that value of those improvements behind. The only value you got out of your rent was the temporary benefit during your lease. The value you get during your fulltime job is the salary that you get.

Everybody knows that if you want to build, well, as far as living space goes, you need to own your house where a share of its payment you make goes to the interest on the mortgage, but a portion of it goes to the equity itself, actually owning the house.

Think of business ownership the same as home ownership. Every bit of effort you put toward excelling and improving your business is both of service to your customers, while it builds value for you and the business. The service to your customers is like as the interest payment. The residual value you have and the potential for ongoing income or return business is how that effort actually builds value into your business. Every bit of effort can bring cash flow, plus underlying value. But owning a business comes with risks and headaches, just like owning a home does.

It's not easy for a business to get off the ground, much less compete to grow. It's quite possible to get absolutely wiped out. That's why so many people intent on owning a business, opt to buy a franchise business. Because there's demand and a business plan to follow. But still it's expensive and risky, but less risk than starting with an all new idea and in improving business.

Network marketing (MLM) is similar to a franchise in that there's a system to use, demonstrated demand for a product. But it's far less capital intensive. For less than a couple of hundred dollars a month, plus your focused effort, you can become a business owner. With that you get residual value potential, tax benefits and the prospect of financial independence.

Look, I understand that not everybody is like me. I love working. I love creating. I love overcoming obstacles. Some people really like the safety of a fulltime job where they can leave at 5 and not think about working until the next morning. But if you decide to engage in your financial future or you know somebody who is just be ready to engage in building some independence for themselves, maybe just in an hour or two a day they can focus on building a wealth that they control. You can build wealth that you control.

There are over 10 Coaches who've already built million dollar income streams with Team Beachbody. Okay, I'm impressed. But you look deeper and you can see that they, and many others, have also built underlying value in their business in excess of a million dollars. That's pretty incredible since getting started cost a whopping $39.95, plus the ongoing cost of staying active in the business. That is still less than any franchise or other prospective business venture would demonstrate.

What is the formula for a successful business? Demand and a system for success called the Game Plan. The risk is time, fortitude and those commodities available to anybody who makes the decision and commits to go for it.

Well, another one of the big "HYPE" home business, MLM, network marketing companies has bitten the dust. Do you remember a year ago when eFusjon was all the rage and everyone was jumping on the eFusjon band wagon? Well, they just joined the ranks of the skeleton companies. As of September 1, eFusjon closed their doors. What a shame. They had a wonderful product. I will not even try to know or explain what happened.

Now, think back two years to the internet home business travel companies: YTB is now a part of ZamZuu. And, Ultimate Choice Travel is now a part of iJango. It seems that more and more, people are getting sucked into the huge hype companies that are so easy to promote on the internet. You've all seen it:

Make millions (or at least thousands) a month

No selling, no prospecting, "do nothing"

No cost

Get in now before you miss the rush

Anyone can do this

Well, I for one have had enough - I QUIT. Stop sending me all of your "latest and greatest" business offers. Time to stay with the tried and true that people can actually make money with! Remember, there still are the home party businesses out there: The Pampered Chef, Jewels by Park Lane, Tastefully Simple, Usborne Books, etc. I know of many people making a lot of money with those companies. They have a tried and true product that people actually WANT!

I was with The Pampered Chef for 5 years and loved the company and the products. But, after moving 4 times and having to restart my business after each move, I tossed in the towel. Anyways, my kids were getting older and had activities in the evenings so I couldn't book as many shows. That led to my search for a legitimate home based business that I could work from HOME without having to do home parties. That is when I discovered the Direct Response Network Marketing industry. I now get my customers from the company who acquires them from infomercials when they purchase a product! So, I know they WANT the product and I don't have to close the sale!

Then comes the age old questions that people assume about ANY home based business -

"Isn't it a pyramid scheme?"

"Aren't pyramid schemes illegal?"

The answers:

No, it is not a pyramid scheme.

Yes, pyramid schemes are illegal.

How do you tell the difference? The CEO of Beachbody recently had to cover this with a friend visiting the company headquarters. Imagine being the head of a multi-billion dollar company and a friend asks if it is a pyramid scheme?!?! Here are the keys to look for when evaluating an opportunity:

1. In a pyramid scheme, you get PAID to recruit people to your team, (signup bonus, etc.)
- With Beachbody, you get NOTHING for sponsoring a new coach. You are only successful if you help your new coaches be successful.

2. Look at the volume of products sold to customers compared to products sold to the representatives, independent business owners, consultants, whatever they are calling you. If the majority of the products sold are going to the representatives, that is a HUGE red flag.
- With Beachbody, the majority of the product sales are directly to customers, not to coaches. The retail business was around for 10 years before a home business was born.

It seems that most people have the wrong information regarding any business where you "sponsor" people or "grow a team". Well, let's take a look at that. Did you know that most companies (like fortune 500 companies) have sales forces. GM, IBM, 3M, Best Buy, Dillard's, any company you can think of that sells a product or service. There is a hierarchy of the sales force that includes sales managers, regional managers, team managers, and the ground force. Each level up the tree gets a percentage of what the people below them produce. They are responsible for training and helping the people "under" them become productive, successful sales people to help build the company. Does that sound like a pyramid?

Now, take that knowledge and apply it to a reputable, BBB approved, company like Beachbody. Their sales force happens to work from living rooms and home offices across the country. They have the same hierarchy but apply names like 5 Star Diamond Coach, Diamond Coach, Ruby Coach, Emerald Coach and Coach. They too pay a percentage of the sales produced on their team as a bonus. It is the same thing except Beachbody doesn't require all of them to be in a corporate office. By cutting out the overhead of regional offices and allowing the "sales force" to work from home, they can pass the savings on to customers in reduced costs and to the coaches by rewarding with higher bonuses! Talk about a win-win!

So, if you are sick of all the hype and hearing about the "next best thing", take a serious look at Beachbody. You can seriously make money from home with a top-notch quality company that has the advantage of being a household name and EVERYONE has heard of. Can you say that about the "Next best thing"?

Failure in MLM? How to Not Fail in MLM

Several months back, I made two of the biggest mistakes you can make when it comes to failing in MLM: Not only did I join a second opportunity, but, I joined a pre-launch MLM based on “hype.”

Here’s What Happened When I Did That…

- My residual income from my primary MLM quit growing
- My team members also became distracted by “other” MLMs
- The new MLM company failed to live up to it’s hype
- I LOST MOMENTUM

The truth is, the only people who usually benefit from pre-launch MLMs are big recruiters. They typically make a small fortune in sponsoring bonuses, by quickly enrolling a bunch of people, and then??? Yep, you guessed it, they move on to the next “new and exciting” MLM. I personally love having a RESIDUAL income that I can count on every month; after all that is one of the biggest reasons people start an MLM home business.

The truth is, if a company builds a legitimate MLM opportunity, it won’t matter if you join it in pre-launch or years after it launches. Why? Because legitimate home business opportunities are “systems” that work for anyone (at anytime) if they simply follow the plan. Beachbody’s Game Plan program is the perfect example of this. Finally, all of the "hype" businesses have signup fees and bonuses for recruiting loads of people. How do you know Beachbody is NOT an illegal pyramid? There are NO signup bonuses! Just a great company based on customer PRODUCT sales! Isn't that refreshing?

However…

I don’t regret making those mistakes because from that company, I received something that has changed my life forever, a renewed commitment to my Beachbody business and a focus like I have never had before.

It is easy to sell products that people already want to buy because they see them EVERYWHERE. And, it’s easy to talk about the business because when you say, “I work from home with the company that you see on TV with products like P90X, Turbo Jam, Slim in 6, etc.” they are intrigued because YOU have instant credibility.

Sometimes even I don’t realize how amazing it is that I am a big part of something that will forever change the MLM industry; in a wonderful way.

And lastly, I couldn’t stop thinking about how much time and money I have wasted over the last few years on joining the “next big thing” or by signing up quickly under someone so I could “get the best position.”

And worse yet, how many people I have hurt by encouraging them to do the same thing.

Never again will I fall for these…

- “No cost”
- “Get in now before you miss the rush”
- “Make $10,000 a week”
- “You don’t have to do anything”
- “No selling or sponsoring”

Sure, some of it may be true, but if that is how we have to promote it, the business itself must not be very great. If I am going to spend my time and energy to build a business, I want it to be respectable and so solid that my grandchildren can take it over from me someday.
