I was invited to the exclusive Toronto gala screening of Twilight Saga: New Moon and its after party. I’m not a rabid fan of Twilight (hell I’m not even a fan) but I had to attend to witness this spectacle. The fine folks at Brees PR have provided I want – I got four tickets to the show and party, so it’s time for a contest.

Thursday, November 19th. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., screening starts at 7:00 p.m.
Screening and after party will take place at downtown Toronto’s Historic Winter Garden Theatre, 189 Yonge St, Toronto

The red carpet event will feature guest appearances by cast members, an exclusive gala screening of the movie, a cast member Q & A, and a live performance by The Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack artist Band of Skulls.

That’s right, four lucky I want – I got readers will accompany me to the premier and after party in Toronto.

How To Participate

1. This contest is very similar to the official American Express® Canada – New Moon – Realize the Potential™ contest. To win, be one of the first 4 commentors on this post that reply with the correct winning phrase. The phrase can be found on the American Express® Canada – New Moon – Realize the Potential™ website.

2. To be eligible for the prize I need a valid email address – this will be kept secure and private and will not be published.

3. Submissions must be received by Friday, November 13, 2009 11:59EST. If they come in after Friday they will not be in the running for the prize.

I’ll announce the winners on Monday, November 16, 2009 and those individuals will join me for the screening and party. The winner will be notified via email so I can arrange meeting times, etc.

LG Fashion Week this year featured something pretty neat. Toronto got its own edition of the Fashion Week Daily. I was obsessed with this mag when I was in NYC for the Spring 2008 collection. I’m not sure if the magazine was available anywhere else but the tents. It came out towards the end of LG Fashion Week and I was really impressed with their turnaround time. I’ve scanned the magazine, sans ads, so that you can enjoy it.

1st Annual Movies and Makers's Holiday Show Saturday, November 21, 2009 10:00am - 6:00pm Fox Theatre 2236 Queen St. East Toronto

Movies and Makers: An Art and Craft Show is a co-production between The Fox Theatre and GirlCanCreate that brings together all things local and handmade. The show is designed to provide both emerging and established artisans with a marketplace to sell their wares. We are looking forward to creating a unique experience in a unique space, The Fox Theatre.

Movies and Makers 2009 takes place at the Fox Theatre (2236 Queen St. East) in the Beaches. This supportive community will be our target audience for the festival. The show will run from 10am to 4pm on November 21, 2009.

Following the show there will be a screening of Handmade Nation a successful new documentary on all things handmade. (handmandnationmovie.com) Admission to the craft show is free.

The Burberry store in Toronto opened quietly in October. The opening fete was last week and I was in attendance.

Burberry celebrated the recent opening of its new flagship store on Bloor Street in Toronto, Canada. Over 200 guests attended the event at the store including Ali Larter who wore Burberry.

Music on the evening was provided by British DJ Tom Guinness who features in the Autumn Winter 2009 Burberry ad campaign and who was flown in from New York for the event.

I had already checked the place out and was disappointed that majority of items in the store were of the Burberry check variety. I thought they did a better job with the men’s clothing than the women’s. I was hoping for more of the unusual pieces from Burberry Porsum in the store. Alas, they were left behind in England, unfit for Canadian consumption. Boo. The store is pretty nice. It’s 2 floors and carries Burberry Prorsum, Burberry London, Burberry Brit collections as well as Burberry Sport, Childrenswear and accessories.

Tom Guinness played amazing music. It was the best set I’ve heard at an event like this. The crowd of fashion folk and socialites seems to be divided. It seemed like the front of the store was more fashion people and the back was more socialites. Interesting dynamic to watch.

I brought my camera but I was too busy chatting with friends to take pictures. Bad blogger. I have to thank ASC for providing me with these photos shot by the excellent George Pimentel.
