This is the first call for the 9th IWE. Just like the previous international weeks, this event aims to bring together academics, researchers, teachers, trainers, students, institutions, organizations, associations, enterprises, social partners and other representatives in order to share knowledge and experience about the assigned theme: “New challenges for human development and cooperation” as well as to provide an opportunity to reflect and debate on a common interest for all kind of people and organizations.

With this edition, we intend to explore all the multiple possibilities allowed by the chosen theme.

The theme encourages the discussion and presentation of contributions related to the actions that are necessary to embrace and prepare both organizations and individuals for the forthcoming challenges that result from the future’s uncertainty. These challenges must take in consideration the changes promoted by new policies that are being adopted in various degrees of our society, either at a local, regional, national or European level, in order to respond to the global crisis that we are currently facing, fundamentally provoked by the financial world and with severe effects in our society and in the way we live in it.

The 9th IWE welcomes any contributions with a multidisciplinary perspective, from applied areas, such as teacher training, sports and leisure, social education, communication and media studies, tourism and fine arts. Contributions related and sustained in the following thematics (particularly in domains such as sustainability, education, culture, tourism, art, communication, enterprise, cohesion, rural and urban development and the information society) are especially welcome:

2011-2020: Decade of Action for Road Safety

2010-2020: United Nations Decade for Deserts and the Fight against Desertification

2008-2017: Second United Nations Decade for the Eradication of Poverty

2006-2016: Decade of Recovery and Sustainable Development of the Affected Regions

2005-2015: International Decade for Action, “Water for Life”

2005-2014: United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development

Second International Decade of the World’s Indigenous People

2003-2012: United Nations Literacy Decade: Education for All

The Deadline for the submission of the papers is March 30th 2012. Accepted papers are to be published in the proceedings book (only in english). Contributions should have one of the following formats: Academic paper (30 minutes); Lecture (1-2 hours); Seminar/colloquium sessions (90 min-2 hours); workshop (1-4 hours).

The 9th IWE will soon be available online and an email will be sent to all applicants containing detailed information on the event.

EN: Participants of this workshop will try long shutter speed photography tehcniques on a dark room space, to get light grafitti effects with colors and lines for publishing through photoblogging, on platforms like snaplog, photothing and photolog.

A Drª Fausta Loureiro de Figueiredo (ex-técnica superior do Instituto da Mobilidade e dos Transportes Terrestres -IMTT) assumiu, ao longo da sua carreira profissional, um papel fundamental na avaliação e formação de condutores. Destacam-se no seu vasto curriculum as seguintes funções:

• Examinadora de condução da ex-DGV;
• Coordenadora do Centro de Exames teóricos de condução da Delegação de Lisboa da ex-DGV;
• Membro dos júris de avaliação de Instrutores e Examinadores e Directores de escolas de condução;
• Formadora de examinadores de condução;
• Elemento integrante da bolsa de formadores da ex-DGV e IMTT;
• Membro dos júris de concursos de admissão de pessoal do IMTT;

A é uma empresa especializada na formação e avaliação psicológica de condutores.

Durante a tarde do dia 7 de Abril a colocará ao dispor dos estudantes da ESEC, o seu laboratório de avaliação psicológica computorizada. A equipa técnica da empresa estará disponível para demonstrar e avaliar aptidões psicomotoras e perceptivo-cognitivas, inerentes ao desempenho da tarefa da condução.

Capacidade de Concentração, Memória, Capacidade Multitarefa, Coordenação Bi-Manual, Segurança e Destreza Manual, Velocidade de Antecipação, Tempos de Reacção Simples e Complexos são, entre outras, aptidões que podes testar.

8th International Week of ESEC – Theme: Key competences for the future

This is the first call for the 8th IWE. Just like the previous international weeks, this event aims to bring together academics, researchers, teachers, trainers, students, institutions, organisations, associations, enterprises, social partners and other representatives in order to share knowledge and experience on the assigned theme: “Key competences for the future” as well as to provide an opportunity to reflect and debate on a common interest for all kind of people and organizations.

With this edition, we intend to explore all the multiple possibilities allowed by the chosen theme. Thus, we will explore it identifying and delimitating present and future competences that will play a major role not only in the success of the organizations, but also in the individual success of people, in different scenes of social intervention. It will be possible to prospectively outline processes and design determinant competences to the entrepreneurial success, combining different individual competences that may be able to respond in the best properly manner to a world in permanent and accelerating change.

The theme encourages the discussion and presentation of contributions concerning with the necessary capacities to embrace the future, starting from basic competences leading to individual success in the new world at different levels: from a social, economic and environmental, point of view to social and personal awareness about the key issues around the competences for the future.

The 8th IWE welcomes any contributions with a multidisciplinary perspective, from applied areas, such as teacher training, sports and leisure, social education, communication and media studies, tourism and fine arts. Contributions related and sustained in the following thematics (particularly in domains such as sustainability, education, culture, tourism, art, communication, enterprise, cohesion, rural and urban development and the information society) are especially welcome:

Antes de mais, queremos agradecer a Vossa participação na 7ª edição da Semana Internacional da ESEC (IWE2010) e o contributo dado para o sucesso deste evento. Esta foi mais uma semana marcada pela qualidade das actividades científicas e culturais e pela excelência das relações inter-pessoais e estreitamento de laços entre a comunidade «esequiana» e entre esta e os parceiros vindos em representação institucional ou individual. Da biodiversidade, à energia, às questões climáticas, da água e da apresentação de experiências em diferentes palcos, da apresentação de resultados de investigação, dos contributos internos para engrandecer culturalmente a IWE2010, que foram muitos, ficou um traço de memória sobre a sustentabilidade que perdurará no futuro e para além do conceito.

Foi uma semana que perdurará, também, na memória pelos eventos naturais, no caso o fenómeno vulcânico na Islândia. Em primeira instância pela beleza e força visíveis e, em segunda instância pela forma absolutamente incontrolável como afectou a organização dos nossos modos de vida. Este fenómeno foi responsável pelo afastamento de alguns participantes, mas foi também uma oportunidade para utilizar ferramentas de comunicação que nos permitiram ter, a partir de Glasgow, acesso a uma excelente comunicação por parte  do Professor Ray Land: “challenges of the XXIst century for the newly graduates”.

Assim para criarmos mais uma memória deste evento, vimos por este meio solicitar o envio da sua comunicação ou artigo a fim de ser publicado no livro de actas da IWE2010_Sustainable World, em inglês. A data limite para envio do trabalho a publicar, de acordo com as normas APA, será o dia 30 de Junho de 2010. Os trabalhos a enviar não deverão exceder as 25 páginas.
Este convite é igualmente dirigido aos colegas que não puderam estar presentes na IWE2010.

First of all, thank you all for your participation in the 7th edition of the International Week of ESEC (IWE2010). It was a pleasant week which contributed to reflect and change the mentality towards the sustainable world. This subject wasn?t confined to the maintenance of biodiversity, as we had several speakers who presented ?our? sustainable world from different perspectives going from the alternative ways of producing energy to the climate changes (or not, as antagonist perspectives were given on our event). As educators, it is our responsibility to contribute to an adoption of healthy and sustainable lifestyles by our students, and the IWE2010 communications were able to sensitize the audience to those subjects.

Despite the difficulties caused by the Icelandic Volcano eruption, with Europe?s air space closed causing a chaos across all of the European transport system (and bringing the chaos to the organization of the IWE2010 conferences?), we managed to receive guests from other countries, such as Spain and Greece. To overcome these difficulties, we also recurred to the new technologies, having a great speaker from Glasgow speaking about the challenges of the XXIst century for the newly graduates. Unfortunately, the contribution from colleagues from several European countries was not possible and we hope to have all of you (those who came and those who couldn?t come) next year in Coimbra, with or without volcanic clouds?

It is now time to create a memory of our event. For that, we kindly ask you to send us the text of your speech or article to be published in our conference book. The deadline to send us the article is 30th June 2010 and it should be written according to the APA reference style. The articles / speeches shouldn’t have more than 25 pages.

This invitation is also extended to all colleagues that couldn’t come to Coimbra.
