We kick off our “Masters of Make-up” series (finally) with a look at the life and career of Lon Chaney, Sr. Using the 1957 classic “Man of a Thousand Faces as our jumping off point, we talk about how Chaney’s life affected his career, the nature of his collaboration with Tod Browning, and his influence on the horror genre. We also review the Chaney-Browning classic “The Unknown.”

We start our 3 part look at horror comedy, and continue to tinker with the format.  Movies: Black Sheep, Evil Dead Trilogy, The Necro-Files, and Re-animator.   Plus a bonus look at some more current movies like Incredible Hulk, The Happening, and others.

We take a look at the Dashiell Hammett classic “Red Harvest,” perhaps one of the most influential stories of all time. Despite having never been officially made into a movie, it has possibly inspired some of the greatest modern films, creating a domino effect of Inspiration for the past 4 decades. It’s a story of lies, lawsuits, greed, and intrigue… and that’s the story behind the story. We talk this week about “Yojimbo,” “A Fistful of Dollars,” “Django,” “Last Man Standing,” and “Sukiyaki Western: Django,” among others. With Special guest James from the Dried Blood Podcast!

In the third and final part of our tribute to my friend Jeff, we take a look at four great Eastwood Westerns: High Plains Drifter, Pale Rider, The Outlaw Josey Wales, and Unforgiven.
