After a ten-month hiatus I’m bringing back The Monday Monologue Podcast. In this episode I relay to you a personal and professional update on my life. Specifically, I’ll talk about getting married and starting a small business.

I realized after recording that I wasn’t very clear when I was talking about Kathy’s thoughts on where I might take her on our honeymoon. She didn’t think I’d take her to a beach because I’m not very fond of it. She loves the beach. Just wanted to clear that up. I’d hate for you to think I took her someplace that I knew she wouldn’t like.

Links from this episode:

The last episode I recorded in what will now be known as Volume 1 was titled Measuring Success.

Our wedding photographer has posted a handful of the photos she took from our wedding on her blog.

We went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on our honeymoon.

My small business is Ledwith Web Solutions, LLC. (Ironically the website for the business is still pretty bare. I’m working on it.)

Here’s the tweet I sent out that announced that I’d formed a small business. Side note: If you’re curious how I managed to locate that tweet so easily I used an iPhone/iPad app called Tweet Library.

In this week’s episode I scrutinize the quantitative and subjective ways in which I measure the success of my writing that I’ve published on the web. It’s been a subject that’s weighed heavily on my mind over the past couple months as I’ve found myself with less and less time to write anything new.

Links from this episode:

The blog post I read in this episode is For the Sake of Creating by Shawn Blanc.

Last week I taught the FSU Navigators. Eventually I’ll upload a recording of that talk. For now you can listen to past messages I’ve given.

The two other places on the web that I publish with regularity are How Do It Know?! and Florida Navs.

Michael Hyatt wrote a great book called Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World that in recent months has influenced the way I have chosen to develop my overall personal web presence.

In today’s podcast episode I talk about how I’ve started to realize how much I depend on receiving feedback to power my enthusiasm. I’m noticing this to be true not only when it comes to my personal websites but other projects I’ve taken on as well.

Man, it’s been a long time since I last posted a podcast episode. I can’t believe I let it slip for so long. Glad to be back in the saddle today.

This is a very meta request, but I’d appreciate your feedback on my thoughts on feedback.

That post served as a starting point for a number of the thoughts I expressed here.

I am the content manager for several websites, but the one I talked about at length in this post is Florida Navs. It’s a clearinghouse of discipleship resources for college students and recent college grads.

To become an influential writer on the Internet two of the most important goals you ought to set for yourself are consistency and honesty. Publishing on a consistent schedule and speaking genuinely with your audience are paramount to your success.

As I continue to prepare for the launch of the new Florida Navs website I’ve begun to consider what it would look like to exceed expectations that someone might have for a ministry website like this.
