As of Friday 11:00 A.M. PDT Hurricane Bud is still a category 2 storm but it is expected to weaken to a tropical storm before coming ashore in the Melaque – Barra de Navidad south of Puerto Vallarta and north of Manzanillo according to the 8 am PDT forecast from NOAA.gov.
Hurricane bud has now become a category 2 hurricane and is pointed in the general direction of Jaltemba Bay. In fact it is pointed very much like hurricane Jova was last year which caused a lot of damage in the Malaque area but passed Jaltemba Bay without damage. The map of the expected path is ...

One fine day in January I spent a day with Angel fishing the waters of Jaltemba Bay and then cooking up our catch. The fishing part is documented here: Meet Angel – Pescador. They don’t seem at all worried that there is not a stitch of forage nor water in their trough. Nor do they need to as long as ...

We are delighted to have Jeff and Holly as contributors. There trip to Michoacan sounds delightful. They live high above Los Ayala and in Colorado. By Jeff and Holly We gradually descended the Autopista through, reminiscent of Colorado, pine trees arriving at familiar palm studded beaches. We have been traveling through the State of Michoacan ...

The project to build a breakfast area for Niños Heroes kindergarten broke ground on Monday in La Joya, a neighbourhood of Rincon de Guayabitos. By Tuesday afternoon the excavation was well under way and four of the six posts to support a metal roof had bases poured. The site is challenging because it is built ...

Jalapeño readers are a busy bunch indeed. They managed to read over a million pages on the Jalapeño in the past year; 1,138,278 to be more specific. Growth in readership has been steady although it is starting to show a seasonal lull as this graph of visits to the site shows. An average week lately ...

Angelita Restaurant in Las Varas just happens to be one of my favorite out of town restaurant. I judge a Mexican restaurant by the condiments and Angelita’s does that up in style even delivering a couple of slices of cheese (panela) with the chips (totopes) and salsa. The restaurant is clean and airy. Much of ...

By Ken and Bea Floral design or floral arts is the art of creating flower arrangements in vases, baskets or other containers using cut flowers, herbs and ornamental grasses. It is also an opportunity to let the imagination run wild. Part of marketing is eye appeal.
On Thursday I had the opportunity to visit Radio Lupita FM 1130 in Las Varas with Community Center director, Viky, and Telpochcalli de Jaltemba (TAC) president, Fernando. In an interview which aired at 8:30 am they invited members of the community to join in the programs they are offering on the La Peñita Plaza. A number of April birthdays were celebrated but it was the very day of this cowboy’s birth. I don’t want to imply that his fashion sense is so bad that ...
