Stay tuned for an official announcement about my next project, which was regrettably delayed by the not-so-wicked snowstorm we had here yesterday. Courage!

The Swirlies reunion was really crowded. People were all up in my business, including a poor man’s version of David Byrne that kept pushing me into the wall. I really wanted to bust in to some “Slippery People” and serve the personal space violator, but I don’t shop at the jerkstore.

Other than that the show was what I expected: the guitarist takes a long time to tune, Adam Pierce is an amazing drummer wearing an old-skool My Bloody Valentine t-shirt. What a guy!

On the way home, South Street bridge construction left us stranded on the Schuylkill a la “Everybody Hurts” for like 20 minutes (see blurry Twitpic in the sidebar). Some angry dude got out of his car and walked to the shoulder, smoking a cigarette. Wish I had a twitpic of him instead. I also wish I had stepped out of the car, just to walk on 76.

Tomorrow Kill You in the Face are playing a show in New Jersey at Hamilton Lanes. Last time I was there I played Lethal Enforcers like sweet blue steel. It’s only 25 cents, so maybe I’ll play as both player 1 and player 2 tomorrow, Van Damme style.

Jess is making Warabimochi again. I cannot believe it’s made from a freaking fern!!!

Some timely news on shoegazer fanatacism - the Swirlies reunion is tonight at Johnny Brenda’s. You can download their entire discography here, it has some crunchingly good guitar sounds and other delicious noise.

The other great news is that all signs point to Adam Pierce (aka Mice Parade) being drummer of the current Swirlies incarnation. I’m prepared for a dose of songs I mostly know and outstanding musicianship. Only would’ve gotten one of those at the Jimmy Eat World, “Clarity x10″ show last night (ohhhhh!!!!)

I don’t want to bring my camera tonight because a JB’s crowd can have people with bad attitudes who I will bump with my bag or spill a drink on their girlfriend. Or tower with my big Jew hair in front of somebody nice, trying to get “the shot” with a shoulder cramp. It’s easier to squat on the prairie, gazing into absolution with a heard of wild buffalo roaming somewhere.

Nightlife can be fun though - if I get photos during the “Shoop” portion of a “very necessary” evening of dancing, then I’m probably requesting Mary J. Blige “Real Love” shortly after. Tonight’s show will be sick indeed, and I will blog about it soon.

This morning at 4 a.m., the finest in morning news broadcast journalism started blaring down from a mysterious TV set upstairs. I thought about what would happen if I raced upstairs and told “loud tv guy” to cut the decibels. Who needs to listen to TV news that loud at 4 in the morning, and laugh at it? And what about those weird, bathroom water-running noises?

I bet there is some ambient electronic duo out there somewhere that uses bathroom water-running noises as a base for all their instruments.

This past Friday was awesome, great turnout and cool hangouts! Big ups to Arts Coalition of Asbury Park and Sarah Potter for making it all happen. I feel like Asbury Park has great potential for some kind of photo project. I don’t even know the place, but here are some things I’ve heard about it:

- lots of Russian immigrants?

- it used to be a lot worse, abandoned boardwalk-type place.

- People drive Lamborghinis there now.

- Rupaul was at the restaurant with my photos, but on a different evening.

- A slight potential for photographs of disgusting, commuter wasteland. And the beach. Yay!

- The Twisted Tree Cafe has more vegan options than I can handle.

So maybe some sort of beach vs. trash vs. giant computer monster with ms paint faces on the monitor.

I have to make dinner now, but notice how I’m obsessed with Twitpic and you’re not gonna stop me, computer monster!

Yes, for $10 you can take a little piece of Americana home with you. I can even sign it “Not the Boss” or “Who’s the Boss?” or just my name. Hope to see you there!

Finally, I’ve curbed my youtube posting problem by creating a tumblr. Check http://youtubecandy.tumblr.com for any lack of professionalism that you would normally expect here. I’m about to post the video for my jam of the week - Patrice Rushen’s “Forget Me Nots.” And yeah, there’s no way I have the time to port this site to Drupal. I spend all day designing user interfaces and when I get home all I want to do is watch Michael Palin’s “Around the World in 80 Days” or Lost or make tofu scramble for my darling partner.

Trying to update this blog on a regular basis blows. I don’t have any time, but I’m okay with it. I am loving life and full-time Webmastering. There just need to be some changes around here.

If you’re reading this a week from now and everything looks the same, I’ve obviously screwed up plans for a redesign. I’m going to cut my CMS losses and deploy a Drupal site, something photo-centric and static-seeming. I need to do it fast, cause I have a show coming up in February in Asbury Park, NJ.

This is the Stone Pony of my formative years, I’ll be showing timeless pieces of Americana, “Glory Days” and domestic auto parts. Seriously though, it’s the Asbury Park “First Friday” type event and I’m stoked on it. Details to come!

For now, check with me on Twitter.
