This unique exhibition allows ticketed guests to become the first to view actual material from the LAPD files on this notorious murder, and converse with LA's great crime novelist.

On March 17, Mr. Ellroy will host conversational tours with small groups of visitors through the new exhibition. Visitors will also receive an autographed copy of the Black Dahlia. Tours will last approximately 45 minutes and will be available at 10 am, noon and 2pm. Tickets are priced at $100 each. Tickets to either, or both, events can be purchased by phoning (323)344-9445.

Both events are unique opportunities to visit the Los Angeles Police Museum and support its programs and activities. The Los Angeles Police Museum is a 501 (C)(3) organization.

A limited number of tickets to an evening of conversation and hors d'ouvres with bestselling author James Ellroy are now available. James will take ticketed guests for a personal and conversational tour of the exhibition. Guests will receive refreshments and hors d'ouvres and receive an autographed copy of his best-selling novel, "The Black Dahlia."

"James Ellroy, LA crime novelist, welcomes the media to a preview of the newly constructed exhibit, 'Elizabeth -LAPD’s 65-year crusade to capture Beth Short’s Killer.' The exhibition features actual case materials, never before seen in public, from the Los Angeles Police Department’s 1947 investigation of Elizabeth Short’s murder. As the presenting sponsor, Ellroy will interpret the case materials as well as his fictional 1987 treatment of the case in his bestselling novel, The Black Dahlia."

"When Ellroy, a long time supporter of the LAPD, proposed the museum open up and exhibit the LAPD's deep 'Black Dahlia' file, the department agreed to share case materials never before seen in public, hoping to shed light on the real nature of the decades-long investigation.

'There's nothing gruesome. It's not a ghoul show,' said Glynn Martin, the museum's executive director. 'We want to restore integrity to a record that has drifted off track.'

The exhibit, 'James Ellroy Presents: Elizabeth -- LAPD's 65-year crusade to capture Beth Short's killer,' opens Friday with a sold-out evening of conversation and hors d'oeuvres with Ellroy himself, who will take ticketed guests for a personal tour of the exhibition."
