Do's and Don'ts of selecting the right type of face mask for Corona Virus Covid 19 protection

The deadly Covid 19 or Corona Virus we all know about is evolving day by day, so should be our (humans) tactics for protection from it.

Do you know, which type of face mask protects you better from Corona Virus?

If not, you are in the right place as I am going to share the photographs I took while on a visit to an OPD (Out-Patients Department) of one the leading hospitals in Kolkata.

Just after entering the hospital OPD as soon as I moved towards the lift, there was a paper printed image showing the do's and don'ts while selecting the right type of mask for full protection from Covid 19 Corona Virus.

Without further adieu, let us see and understand from the image itself.

The facial masks with air filters is a strict no-no whereas any face mask without an air filter is right choice for better protection & prevention of Corona Virus Covid 19. Just make sure it covers up widely & perfectly. Please spread this message with others, as it can save several lives.

The do's and don'ts of selecting the right type of facial masks is easy to understand as it is depicted in symbols of right and wrong, even an illiterate would understand the information it wants to convey.

Apart from wearing face masks one has to recognise the importance of Social Distancing too. Only facial masks won't stop the spread of this corona virus.

Till today, i,e, August, the 7th, 2020, India has achieved a commendable feat in conquering the corona virus Covid 2019 from spreading that fast as it was expected in a densely populated country.

Still there is a lot to done, a lot to be fought against this virus. Though the recovery rate had touched a new high of 68%, Covid 19 cases are mounting day by day in different parts of our country.

This means, we, the Indians are playing see-saw with Corona virus, we need to be much more ethical and consistent in our behaviours to protect ourselves, our family, the society and our motherland India. 🇮🇳

On Monday, today, on an auspicious day of Rakhi Purnima aka Rakshabandhan and also the last Somwar (Monday) of the auspicious month of sawan in 2020 for us Hindus, I was seeking for some information and opened up Wikipedia. I saw this message on top of the webpage.

What caught my attention was the blue background (unfamiliar User interface than that of the website) and the popped up message requesting to all users from India.

Wikipedia is humbly asking we Indians to donate in support of their initiative of ad-free service for years to come.

We, the Indians, should join our hands in this donation initiative ignoring that even Wikipedia is not correct all the times.

As we can see the Wikipedia donation request in the above screenshot for users of the India. Wikipedia is asking We, the Indians to donate generously in the amounts of ₹150, ₹500, ₹1000, ₹3,000, ₹5,000 or any other amount through which you can donate them.

Let's join in support of Wikipedia to keep knowledge and information ad-free for the greater benefit of human and specially to those who can not afford a quality of it ignoring that even Wikipedia is not free of errors and mistakes.

दिवाली : गांव VERSUS शहर की दीपावली

दिवाली का त्यौहार दिए की दीपक से हुयी रोशनी का त्यौहार है। इसे दीपावली भी इसीलिए बुलाते हैं क्यों क्यूंकि इसी दिन मिट्टी के दिया से घर-आँगन को रोशनी से प्रज्ज्वलित करते हैं और घर में श्री गणेश - लक्ष्मी की आराधना और पूजा अर्चना करते हैं। हिन्दु मान्यताओं के अनुसार दिवाली के शुभ दिन के सुअवसर पर घर या दुकान में गणेश-लक्ष्मी की स्थापना और पूजा की जाती हैं। और मनोकामना की जाती है के बुद्धिमान गणेश और धनवान माता लक्ष्मी यूँ ही पुरे साल घर में उसी स्थान पर विराजे रहे जहाँ उनकी पूजा इस दिवाली में की गयी है।

दीपावली या दिवाली का त्योहार जगमगाती रोशनी और धूम-धाम करते हुए पटाखों का दिन है. अनेको तरह के पटाखे जलाये जाते है जो जलने के बाद भी धुआं छोड़ते रहते हैं।

आज मैं आपके सामने देश के विभिन्न भागों में दिवाली मनाने के अलग-अलग ढंग को पेश करूँगा जो की मैंने पिछले कुछ सालों से तस्वीरों में संजो कर रखा हुआ था ताकि आज आपके सामने ला सकूँ।

सही मायने में दिवाली ही एक ऐसा पर्व है जिसे धूम-धाम से मनाया जाता है। मैं उस धूम-धाम की बात कर रहा हूँ जो पटाखे की आवाज़ से होती है। वैसे पटाखोँ और जगमगाती रोशनी के अलावा दिवाली देश के विभिन्न जगहों पर विभिन्न रूपों में मनाया जाता है। दिवाली के समय मेरे गांव में लक्ष्मी - गणेश की पूजा होती है तो वही मेरे शहर की गलियों में माँ काली का आवाहन किया जाता है।

गावं में दिवाली कैसे मनाते हैं versus शहर में दिवाली कैसे मनाई जाती है ?

मैं जो इस ब्लॉग में प्रकाशित करने जा रहा हूँ वो घर के अंदर मनाई जाने वाली दीपावली नहीं है बल्कि सामाजिक पूजा पंडाल और मंडपों में मनाई जाने वाली दिवाली की झलकियां हैं। गावं में मनाई गयी दीपावली की तस्वीरें उत्तर प्रदेश के गोरखपुर जिले के गाओं की हैं और वहीँ शहर में मनाई गयी दिवाली पश्चिम बंगाल के हावड़ा शहर की।

दिन तो दिवाली का ही है पर दोनों जगहों के तौर-तरीके अलग हैं। चलिए, श्री गणेश करते हैं।

DJ वाले बाबू इनका गाना बजा दो - आज लक्ष्मी गणेश पूजा का विसर्जन है और फिर दिवाली एक साल बाद आएगी इसलिए अब बजा ही दो। देखो उसने हेलोवीन वाला मास्क भी पेहेन रक्खा है।

पास के तालाब में मूर्ति विसर्जन करने के लिए नाचते गाते हुए रवाना। इसके उपरांत अब से दिवाली के लिए एक साल तक का धाडस बांधना पड़ेगा।

कुम्हार टोला जाकर दिवाली के लिए काली माता की मूर्ति का आर्डर देना है : इस मूर्ति का किसी और ने आर्डर दिया था और ये अभी पूरी नहीं हुयी थी।

कुम्हार ने माँ काली के मूर्तियों का आर्डर लेना चालू कर दिया था पर ये भी किसी और ने पसंद कर रक्खी थी

दिवाली के लिए आर्डर दी हुयी माँ काली की एक और मूर्ति जो धुप में रंग सूखने के लिए रक्खी हुयी थी कुम्हारटोली में

सर्बजनिन काली पूजा के लिए मोहल्ले में चंदा लेना और उसका हिसाब रखना

चंदा काटते समय दिखी भारत की अनेकता में एकता की मिसाल : सच्चे भारतीय के घर के बहार ही आप हिन्दू धर्म और इस्लाम धर्म का चिन्ह देख पाएंगे।

अनार पटाखे मुझे पसंद है इसलिए दीदी को कहा के अच्छे से बारूद का मसाला भरें और वो बेलन से थुश-थुश कर भरती हुयी

पटाखा बेचने वाली महिला का काम सच्चा था। अनार ने तो दिवाली की रात चार चाँद ही लगा दी थी।

बांधाघाट - हावड़ा : काली माता की मूर्ति को हुगली नदी के गंगा जल में विसर्जित करने के साथ ही अब दिवाली के दीयों को जगमाने के लिए एक साल का घोर अंतराल शुरू।

Picture Perfect Moment - Dog asking for human help in human language on railway track

Thodi Si Toh Lift Kara De - Dog beneath the train on railway tracks. Seems like asking for human help in human sign language.

This incident happened with me when I was traveling by Indian Railways. My train was on halt at Samstipur Junction Railway Station. and this dog appeared just beneath the 'LIFT HERE' sign you all have seen in Indian Railways Passenger Wagon compartments.

And gave me this opportunity to capture the picture-perfect moment on my smartphone mobile's camera.

It looked like the dog appeared from the other side of the platform finding his way out. He was trying to climb onto the platform on which the train was standing. But did not find success. That moment shot in a camera portrays like if the dog is asking for human help in human language.

चले आना तू पान की दुकान पे 18 साल के होने के बाद

"18 साल से कम उम्र वाले को सिगरेट - पान - गुटखा - तम्बाकू नहीं दिया जायेगा " ऐसा आपने कितने पान दुकानों में लिखा देखा है? या कितने पान शॉप पर पान बेचने वाले भईया होंगे जो ऐसी सोच रखते होंगे या मानते होंगे?

भारत में जब तक आप 18 साल के नहीं होते तब तक आप नाबालिग हैं। यानि आपके बचपने वाले बर्ताव के कारण आपके लिए नियम और दंड भी अलग है। जैसे नाबालिगों को वोट न दे पाना सबसे सामान्य वर्जित नियमों में से एक है। पर उसके साथ ही आप सिगरेट, बीड़ी, पान, गुटखा, तम्बाकू, शराब या कोई भी नशा करने वाला पदार्थ ना कोई नाबालिगों को बेच सकता है और ना ही आप १८ साले से कम उम्र होने के वजह से खरीद सकते हो। उसी तरह एडल्ट फिल्म भी वर्जित है क्यूंकि उसके लिए आपको एडल्ट होना या बालिग होना जरुरी है।

फिर भी ऐसा होता कहाँ है। वर्जित है तो सही पर मानता कौन है?

अजी मानने वाले मानते हैं, और वो ही मानते हैं जो बुद्धि से और शरीर से बालिग हो जाते हैं। जिन्हे पैसे की भूख नहीं देश को सही दिशा देने की भूख होती है।

For me "To travel is to explore with all senses"

The senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch define whether my travel-wandering soul attained solace or is it ready again for more exploration.

As you all know from my Blogging profile that I reside in Howrah district which falls in the state of West Bengal, India.

The name Howrah might make you remember that famous Cantilever bridge known as Howrah Bridge which connects two cities, Kolkata and Howrah, situated on the east and west side of the tributary of river Ganga known as river Hooghly or Adi Ganga. At the one end of the Howrah bridge is the famous Howrah railway station in Howrah City which acts as the gateway to the 'City of Joy' Kolkata, earlier known as Calcutta, which is on the other side of this cantilever bridge. Calcutta, by this name, was the capital of India before New Delhi until 1911 during the British Empire of East Indian Company.

For your information, I as a Howrah resident feel the pride to share that Howrah Station now holds two multipurpose railway stations at one place. One for the Indian Railways and other for Kolkata Metro Railways underneath the former one as the east-west line of Kolkata Metro crosses beneath the river bed of Ganges or Hooghly river. The place Howrah was established in 1947 with an area of 1467 square km and is still the closest industrial belt to then Calcutta, now Kolkata.

Being a down to earth Indian it always pinches me to travel to those destinations that somewhere has a match with India.

That match I look for might be of culture, people, society or mere namesake, it might be of the same pronunciation of any Indian place or city, but abroad.

Three such matching places for this openminded but blind bucket list is

Howrah, Australia:

Unlike the Howrah city in India, there is a place also known as Howrah in Australia too. The Howrah there is a beachside suburb of the most populous city, Hobart city of Australia. The Hobart city is the second oldest capital city after Sydney and is the capital of the state Tasmania, Australia. But what drives me to explore this place blindly is the name Howrah and the fact that it is situated on the banks of Derwent River like Howrah city in India is situated on the banks of river Ganges. Yes, this Australia's Howrah will also soothe my sense of sight with views across the river, not the Hooghly or Ganges river this time but the Derwent river at least.

Wouldn't it be mesmerizing to see 'Howrah House' in Australia if it exists till now, a property established by a retired Indian Army Officer during 1830s epitomizing the naming of Howrah in Australia?

Wouldn't it be nice to see through the thoughts of that retired Indian Army Officer who envisioned the Derwent River of Australia with that of the sacred River Ganga of India?

Wouldn't it be peaceful to hear the roar of the sea in Howrah, Australia as opposed to the industrial belt Howrah, India I have known so far?

Wouldn't it be thoughtful to imagine Howrah Bridge on Derwent river?

Wouldn't it be tasteful to experience the seafood of Australia's Howrah unlike the Bengali style home cooked "Maacher Jhol" aka Fish Curry we serve in Kolkata and Howrah?

Wouldn't it be great to have a sip of tea in kullhad or "bhaarer cha" as we call it in bengali during Australian Howrah darshan?

Calcutta, United States of America:

Calcutta, the ex-capital city of India till 1911 before New Delhi, was renamed to Kolkata in 2001. But the essence of it's name still flourishes worldwide but not just in my graduation mark sheet by The University of Calcutta. One such case exists some 12,945 km apart.

Unlike Calcutta in India, there is a Calcutta in the Columbiana district of the Ohio state in the United States of America. The naming happened when the first brick house was built in that area by Mr. William Foulks during 1800s which was named Foulkstown. But was later changed to Calcutta after the capital city Calcutta, now Kolkata.

Just like me, America has an obsession with the capital of British India, Calcutta. Thus there are several places called Calcutta in America than anywhere else, not just what India had. Apart from the Calcutta in Ohio, we are talking about there are several other towns and places called Calcutta in America. They are Calcutta - the coal town in Indiana, Calcutta in Pleasants district, West Virginia, Calcutta - a village in the Corozal district, Belize and Calcutta - a resort in Saramacca district, Suriname in South America.

And this name calling drives me to travel blinded and say YES TO THE WORLDs called Calcutta in the USA.

Wouldn't it be an experience to see what so many Calcutta in the USA holds for a citizen of Calcutta, India?

Cricket Association of Bengal - Eden Gardens Cricket Stadium in Kolkata, then Calcutta.

Wouldn't it be nice to hear the stories behind the naming?

Wouldn' it be worth visiting to feel the aroma of the name pronounced as Calcutta?

Would it be soothing to not see the Ambassador Yellow cabs there?

Wouldn't it be great if I can see them celebrating Durga Pujo in full fervor?

I guess it would be more worthy than any other blind visit to explore the world around us.

Hyderabad, Pakistan:

As I quoted myself to be a down to earth Indian earlier in this post, I meant about the India without any division of lines called borders. I would love to be the Indian from The Undivided India.

And my blind quest for touch and taste go to thy neighborhood Pakistan. Every Indian knows what Biryani is, it's a Muslim delicacy being highly sought after by Hindus like me. India is a country with diversity, so in different parts of the sub-continent one recipe might be called and cooked in different styles. Biryani becomes biriyani, biriani, briyani or birani and whatever you may pronounce. But at the end of the day, it is a mixture of rice, meat, aromatic Indian spices, yogurt, egg, dry fruits, vegetables and so on.

Though I get to eat and love to eat the biryani served in Kolkata with boiled potato in it. But, Hyderabadi biriyani is known to be the best delicacy among biryani in India.

Unlike India's Hyderabad, there is a Hyderabad in Pakistan too. The Hyderabad of Pakistan is located in the state of Sindh, some 140 km east to Karachi city. Being a Muslim dominated country, there is no wonder that Biryani is always ready to be served & cooked in Pakistani's own Hyderabadi style.

Wouldn't it be nice to smell and taste the biryani that had been cooked in Hyderabad of Pakistan?

Wouldn't it be an exquisite blind exploration to taste the biryani of Pakistan's Hyderabad and to recall the experience in comparison to India's Hyderabadi Biryani or the one I had yesterday in Kolkata, also being sold as the famous Hyderbadi Biryani in Kolkata for the fist time.

Wouldn't it be like self exploration by Exploring The Worlds with so differences yet so many similarities?

So come on, let us be openminded and travel to explore for that enriching experience called World.

कोलकाता के थीम दुर्गा पूजा के सभी फोटो - Durga Puja Photo Throwback

कोलकाता पश्चिम बंगाल की राजधानी है। इसे भारत का सिटी ऑफ़ जॉय भी कहा जाता है यानि एक ऐसा शहर जो खुशियों से भरा हो। मैं तो इसे त्योहारों की राजधानी मानता हूँ। ऐसा ही एक त्योहार है दुर्गा पूजा जिसे देश के अन्य भागों में दशहरा या दसरा के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। वैसे दुर्गा पूजा और दशहरा में उतना ही अंतर है जितना की नवरात्री और दुर्गा पूजा में है। चाहे नाम जो भी हो पर देवी दुर्गा की आराधना ही इस पर्व का मूल उद्देश्य होता है।

कोलकाता-वासी साल भर राह देखते रहते हैं के कब दुर्गा पूजा आए और उनकी खुशियों में चार चाँद लगे। इसकी उलटी गिनती ओडिशा के प्रसिद्द श्री जगन्नाथ जी के 'रथ यात्रा' के दिन से शुरू हो जाती है। कमोवेश रथ पूजा के बाद से 100 दिन शेष रह जाते हैं दुर्गा पूजा के लिए जो की तैयारियां शुरू कर देने का उद्घोष होता है।

बंगाली समाज में माता रानी से इतना लगाव है की कोलकाता और बंगाल के सभी जिलों में दुर्गा पूजा बड़े ही धूम-धाम से मनाई जाती है।

गली हो या मोहल्ला, थोड़ी सी जगह हो या बड़ी-चौड़ी जगह दुर्गोत्सव के रूप-रंग में ढलने में किसी भी प्रकार की कठिनाई नहीं होती। बड़ी ही सरलता से छोटी-सिकुड़ी ही गलियों में भी दुर्गा पूजा के पंडाल अपना रूप ले लेते हैं।

कौन करता है दुर्गा पूजा का आयोजन?

पश्चिम बंगाल में दुर्गा पूजा का आयोजन दो प्रकार से होता है।

पहला होता है घर का पूजा, जहाँ की बाहरी लोगों के लिए प्रवेश की अनुमति नहीं होती।

दूसरा होता है 'सर्बोजनीन' दुर्गा पूजा, यानि आयोजकों के अलावा दूसरों को भी पूजा में सम्मिलित होने का खुला न्योता होता है।

थीम दुर्गा पूजा क्या होता है?

अंग्रेजी शब्द 'Theme' का अर्थ है विषय। यहाँ सर्बोजानिन दुर्गा पूजा के आयोजक क्लब होते हैं। वे ना-ना प्रकार के विषयों पर पूजा पंडाल अर्थार्त मंडप एवं मूर्ति या प्रतिमा को एक विषयवस्तु पर केंद्रित कर दुर्गा पूजा का आयोजन करते हैं। कोलकाता का सुप्रसिद्ध दुर्गा पूजा पूरे विश्व से दर्शकों को आकर्षित करता है और उन्ही आकर्षणों में से एक है थीम पर आधारित दुर्गा पूजा। ऐसा भी जरुरी नहीं की यहाँ के सभी पूजा पंडालों में थीम के आधार पर ही पूजा होती है। पर जहाँ भी थीम पर आधारित होती है वह एक टूक देखने लायक और सोच से अकल्पनीय दृश्य होता है।

थीम दुर्गा पूजा या तो पंडाल पर केंद्रित हो सकता है या फिर सिर्फ देवी-देवताओं की प्रतिमा पर या पंडाल और मूर्ति दोनों से भक्तों को थीम दुर्गा पूजा का आनंद दिया जा सकता है।

उपर्युक्त फोटो में पंडाल - मंडप को फुटबॉल और प्लास्टिक के बॉल से बनाया गया है। पर महिसासुर मर्दिनी देवी दुर्गा का पूजा आयोजित करने वाला यह क्लब गत 100 सालों के पूजा आयोजन के बाद भी देवी - देवताओं की प्रतिमा को हर साल अपने मूर्तिकार से एक जैसा ही बनवाता है।

पिछले सौ सालों का मैंने सुना है पर अपने बचपन से एक ही नैन-नक्श वाली मूर्तियां देखते आया हूँ। यह फोटो मेरे पुराने मोहल्ले में आयोजित - एक सौ साल से भी पुरानी सार्बोजानिन पूजा का है इसलिए इतने दृढ़ता से कह रहा हूँ।

पंडाल थीम - महाभारत ; मूर्ति थीम - नवदुर्गा

कोलकाता शहर के अलावा आस पास के सभी जिलों में भी दुर्गा पूजा की धूम रहती है। ऐसा ही एक मंडप है हावड़ा जिले में जहाँ कोलकाता से भी लोग घूमने आते हैं। गोलाबारी थाना अंतर्गत घास बागान स्पोर्टिंग क्लब द्वारा प्रत्येक साल देवी दुर्गा की नौ रूपों की नौ मूर्तियों को पूजा मंडप में रक्खा जाता है। नवरात्री में नवदुर्गा के दर्शन के लिए तो लोगों की भीड़ उमड़ती ही है साथ ही थीम पंडाल भी देखने मिलता है।

बात उस साल की है जब पूजा मंडप का थीम था महाभारत।

This is Durga Puja throwback for the year 2014. Almost four years passed away since that Durga Pujo we organized well that year. It is 2018 and I still have those photographs and videos yet to be shared with the world. The world, where everything has changed drastically during these 4 years for us.

This was the look of our Durga Puja Pandal with idols in 2014 - Classical Embossed

These pictures have become memories spent together. Memories of visiting a kumhartoli (Kumortuli, as called in Bangla) in Bansberia of Hooghly district from Howrah district for Durga Puja idol purchase.

Then Pandal hopping in para (locals) and the whole city listening to Dhaak tunes and smelling food and the fragrance of Seuli flower.

Heavily eating out with friends and family. Dumped into festive season that engulfs the whole West Bengal. Followed by the arrival of 'Vijaya Dashami' the time for visarjan of Durga Puja idols into the river waters of holy Ganga.

After capturing and going through different styles and makes of Durga idol displayed at kumortuli ground, we took the one we were looking for. Came back to our puja pandal, settled the idols, captured some more photos with the positivity that the festive season has just started.

But the painful part is to bid adieu to Maa Durga for visarjan on Vijaya Dashami. Even the Durga idol becomes reluctantly heavy to move out of the vehicle as if it doesn't want to go. But as we say in Bangla "Asche Bochor Abar Hobe".

He Came, He Sat, He Conquered My Heart

It took more than a year for me to present this wonderful friend to the whole world through my blog. He was like any stranger when we met on Ganga river’s ghat at Howrah. Those days, I was going through ups and downs in my life. I hope you all are familiar with the story of sour grapes. Whatever I did wasn’t bearing a fruit. Neither blogging, nor digital marketing, or anything. Personally or professionally, it was a hard time. I used to roam around in search of a peaceful place in my city, where no one knows me so that I can sit back, relax and talk to myself in search of answers. And what could have been more soothing than river side on a summer noon. So I went to this place, near Bangeshwar Mahadev temple where 51 feet tall Lord Shiva’s statue is resting. The Ganges ghat I am talking about is the one just opposite to Kolkata’s famous Bhuthnath temple, which falls on Salkia School Road, the lane in which Salkia AS High School is established. It was like a half day for me from office as nothing productive was my way that day. I entered that Ganga ghat as usual, did pranaam in front of the temples located on both side of the ghat’s entrance. Everything was just normal when I entered, people were bathing and washing clothes and utensils in river water. I moved ahead down the stairs towards the caucus meant to sit on both sides of the ghat, though I prefered the cleaner one, the left one, so that I can see Howrah Bridge and Bhootnath mandir from the same place. I sat onto the bandstand, suddenly my smartphone rang. It was a call from my elder brother who prefered to ask me whether am I getting married that year or not. ‘Marriage?’, I said to myself while nodding in yes to his answers as nothing was in my mind except peace and solace for thoughtful moment. I just wanted to perform a samudra-manthan (churning of the oceans) comprising my past, present and future as I used to think more of future than living in present while keeping the past at bay.

Thanks to this little Julius Caesar, as he came, he saw me, he sat on my shoulders, he conquered my heart.

I don’t even know his name, neither do he knows mine, but the way he approached me for a forceful friendship was super cute. Let me call him by a familiar name ‘Mithoo’ as he was non other than a pet bird, an Indian ringneck parrot scientifically named as ‘P.K. manillensis. I always had a fantasy to care for a pet like an Indian rose-ringed parakeet and this wish came true when he initiated for a friendship himself. What happened was unscheduled for me, but might have been a regular schedule for him. I can recall that he came sitting on the shoulders of that guy, who I think was his master/trainer/owner. He was a pet parrot, still hesitant to speak as he didn’t utter a word throughout the time he was in my company. His master, by looks meant to be a local guy who works as a labourer in any nearby industry. He came to have bath in river ganges which was his daily routine at the same ghat I am talking about. Along with him was Mithoo, silent yet playful. Who loves nodding his head to see familiar and unfamiliar faces around him, may be that was animal instinct to judge/greet others or so. His master politely landed him on the other side of the bandstand in which I was sitting on the other end. I was curious to check what will he do next, didn’t he also want to have a bath in this holy water or will he try to chew his master’s clothes which he was meant to guard? Several questions were popping up in my mind while I was busy on the phone call. All of a sudden, my smartphone beeped quoting me that battery was low to 15% merely. I asked my elder brother to hang up for the same reason as I have to complete the whole day with the same battery life. As soon as he disconnected the call, I saw Mithoo moving up on the bandstand caucus on which his master left onto the bottom end. He overtook an old man, local obviously, who also came to have a dip in the river. I thought he would pick up that old man’s fresh clothes that he bought to wear after bathing. But hell, he left that too and was moving towards me. I was wearing a deep blue shirt and jeans, a new pair I started wearing since a month. My forecasting warned me that Mithoo is either coming to chew my clothes or to bite me as I was looking just out of the league, who was not bathing but sitting in a relaxed position on the ghat. He neared me, took the bottom part of my shirt in his mouth and started jumping. I was surprisingly shocked in fear, as I was going through hay days, only negative thoughts came out regarding that cute little green bird. Stuffs like, what if he bites me, Do I need to get at least 2 injections for that? What if he tries to bite my fingers, It would be painful as these birds are hardcore green chilly eaters and so on. Suddenly, I heard someone guiding me in an adenoidal voice, ‘No to fear, he never harms’. I turned my head and attention towards that voice, he was same old man whom Mithoo overtook before coming my way. I calmed myself down as guided by him. As soon as I sat strongly without moving my body in fear, Mithoo started doing the same stuff again. He took my shirt in his mouth, tried to make a jump and hell yeah, he was four inches above the ground onto my belly, then a move again to chew off my shirt and he started hanging holding my collar in his mouth. But "Dilli Dur Hai" kind of feeling haunted him and he jumped onto the slab again.

Mithoo liked my shirt, specially the bright colored collar on a dark colored shirt. What a taste, Did he ate White chillies today?

This green pet parrot loved my shirt's purple buttons, so I unbuttoned them for the sake of his playfulness.

Once again he repeated the same stuff and this time with an extra step he climbed up the ladder, onto my shoulder through my shirt. Wow, that was a amazing feel for me, no one except my family would have needed so much of my attention & relaxation on my shoulders, but look at Mithoo, he is happy to be here on the top. Sometimes smelling my hair, sometimes chewing them and that too bravely sitting on my shoulders. I let him do whatever he wanted to do in that short span of time until his master baths.

He also loved my Hair shampoo's smell, look he smells and chews my hairs off.

His consistent tries to climb up my body and that enthusiasm to do what he loves did teach me a lot. His behaviours were tickling me, I rose up to smile though I was in a mood to cry. His meaningless pricking and chewing buttons were animal curiosity towards human to human, but I thoroughly loved his company for the next 20 minutes, and during these minutes, my smartphone's 15% battery gave a long lasting memory, I clicked selfies with him, a selfie video is also embedded below. Don't forget to see the happiness on my face in that video, he overturned my Emotional quotient.

When I shared these pictures with some of my friends, they speculated that some people make their pets addicted to drugs, thus they don't want to leave their company, if his master is not available, he will not fly but would love to do the same stuffs, in this case, sitting on the shoulders of a stranger. I felt sad to imagine a drug addict Indian rose-ring necked parrot. Though I tried to meet Mithoo Parrot again and again by visiting that Ganga Ghat,but my and his master's timings never collided and then I never saw him again.

Karma is a practically balanced remuneration for your deeds in continuity, not a bitch!

The word Karma reminds me of that bollywood movie song “Karma Is A Bitch” sung by Suraj Jagan in the feature film ‘Shor In The City’, no doubt it also makes me groove on its tune too. But in real world we Indians, target the word karma with several proverbs and jargons in our day to day life. For instance, we utter hindi proverbs “Jaisi Karni waisi bharni” which means ‘As you sow, so you reap’. Or “Uparwala bhi dekhta hai” which quotes as ‘Even God is watching your actions, watch out’ and so on. These proverbs on karma are unending, varying from country to country and languages spoken. Some praise karma and some curse as per their thinking stature.

Overall, karma is like a hanging magnetic sword which balances itself practically, but since it is magnetic by nature, it easily gets attracted to good & bad deeds, let us assume deeds as iron balls in this case.It can hit downwards due to your bad deeds which can be felt as punishment. Whereas, if it gets attracted upwards to the second iron ball, it might be felt like magical show. In both the case, karma was just doing it’s duty. Thus a sin done for/on duty is not a sin but a duty and you can’t blame karma for it’s sins.

Karma Is A Practically Balanced Phenomena:-

Karma and it’s repercussions balance each other. They are way too practical in doing that. It equals what you thought would overflow someday. Signifying, karma to be a practically balanced remuneration based on your labour for a certain period of time, thus your labour equals to the good or bad deeds you did continuously. Continuously because continuity is life, continuity brings outcome. If it is not continuous what’s the point for getting rewarded or punished for it? You won’t get that jinxed feel when it hurts you, also you won’t get that Happy-Go-Lucky feel when it rewards you. We all would ignore and move on when our own karma hits back for a deed we sustained for few nanoseconds only. As we all know that practice makes perfect, while practice being a continuous process. if you practice good stuffs you’re a samaritan, if you practice bad one, you’re a satan, and yes, your karma decides that before it makes you pay for your sins and charity. I mean, who wants to be judged for the trowel which he never continued for long!

Let me narrate one such karmic story right up here. It was just another gloomy day in city of joy, Kolkata. I was on my daily office schedule riding my bike to complete a new work assigned to me. Heading towards the red signal at Esplande which was showing 67 seconds left to go green, suddenly a biker without helmet and in vests and three-quarter overtook me in a rush, did a so called “S” ride dance with his bike and stopped at the red signal. His attire proved him to be a local of that area, thus he got a valid licence to drive without helmet and proper body protection, stop the vehicle ahead the stoppage line onto the zebra crossing and so on. I too stopped on the signal just behind that guy onto the designated painted lines and turned off the ignition as 62 more seconds were left for the traffic on my lane to move. In between that 1 minutes, I started wondering that God is unfair, in this case, Kolkata Traffic Police is unfair. They only charge innocent and down to earth people for traffic offences whereas the real offenders are riding freely on Kolkata roads and no one can teach them a lesson till they die. My attention broke as soon as the traffic signal timer’s count started diminishing to 5…4…3…2…1…..and then GREEN. Most of the vehicles have just started accelerating in the first gear at that time when suddenly a THUDD sound caught my attention. It was the same biker lying down flat on the roads with his bike which just did a 360 degree on the road. He was in pain, pain of crossing the signal when the timer was ticking in between 2…1…. and GREEN. It would have become a matter of traffic offence and the biker would have got full support by fellow pedestrians and drivers on the road only if the vehicle hitting him wasn’t of Kolkata Police itself. What a mockery it was, he got a perfect treat with a grand welcome to Cafe Karma. Even that Kolkata Police vehicle stopped for a moment, acknowledged the situation that the without helmet biker was in hurry thus punched into crossing police vehicle that too when he was ought to stand quiet at red signal. And left him lying down in pain on the busy streets of Kolkata which I also felt was better than being fined or challan on his vehicle number or driving licence if he had.

Hence, here we can acknowledge that he was punished for his own deeds which he has been continuing since many days, as that “S” ride dance on bike is a mastery of showoff ness that comes with a practice. And as I said earlier, Karma is way too practically balanced which is proved by the incident that none other than police vehicle hit him, if it would have been a private vehicle, the biker would have pounced on it’s driver as he was a local lad. Since, it was a police vehicle, he wasn’t left with anything else other than a taste of his own Traffic Karma. Now you know Karma's not a bitch, but still people bitch about it.

Memorable Road Trip to Digha, nearest Sea Beach from Kolkata

We Kolkatans, love sea food, so how can we resist loving the sea? We somersault for sea visits towards the Bay of Bengal as soon as we get time from the busy weekdays on the weekends. But this time, we did a summersault by crafting a memorable road trip by car to Digha, the nearest sea beach from Kolkata as my city was burning with 44 degree Celsius which actually felt like 49 degree C. Nothing could have been much soothing than getting a short relief beside the sea from this scorching Indian summer heat wave in the city.

Early Morning, Time- 5:30 am

We initiated by starting our car, this time Maruti Alto 800, sharp at 5:30 am from our place. On the driver's seat was my friend Rahul, onto his left was me, Ahem, Ahem!

On the back seat were Didi(Elder Sister), Jija Ji(Brother-In-Law) and the budding Instagrammer, younger sister.

After fuelling the car to full tank around Kona Expressway, we rolled towards the Digha sea beach with an average speed of 80 kmpl and with a pre-planned stoppage for breakfast at SherE-Punjab Dhaba cum hotel in Kolaghat.

Note - Sher-E-Punjab falls on the right-hand side of on NH6 when you are riding towards Kharagpur from Kolkata. You can also checkout my earlier visits to this famous dhaba as That 80 KM One Way Journey For Dal Tadka & Roti At Shere Punjab Dhaba of Kolaghat.

6:30 am, Kolaghat:-

We reached Kolaghat in an hour exactly. After having a wonderful and light breakfast cum photo session we moved onto our journey again in the car.

Moving ahead a few metres, We took left towards Nandakumar while leaving NH6 for other travellers to Kharagpur. We also left the road towards Haldia while taking the right turn towards Nandakumar. With a half an hour ride measuring 35 kms from Kolaghat we saw the marvellously designed and maintained road circle at Nandakumar. We were into Purba(East) Medinipur district of West Bengal. From the circle out there, we took a half round and straight towards Contai via NH116B.

7:30 am, Nandakumar:-

But we have to put a halt again to our road trip just short ahead of Nandakumar on the way to Contai market(60 kilometres to go) due to thirst and took a short break no 2. So we decided to pump up this weird looking hand pump which reminded me of my childhood days. As how I used to pump up my bicycle's tyres by creating air pressure into the tubes through the same thing that seems to be used as hand-pump here in this area.

I thought it to be some kind of "Jugad" or you may call it creative improvisation or temporary solution by local people. But later came to know that it works & has been set up by local governing authorities, it's on every nook and corner out here. This hand pump is here maybe because it suits the topography of the coastal region, merely 85 kms from the sea. It was first in my lifetime experience to watch & use such a hand-pump like this. 7:45 am:-

Nearby Nandakumar, at Ahmed Nagar, we came across a wonderfully designed Kali Temple, featuring two other Hindu deities, most probably Kaal-Bhairav & Devi Chamunda along with dakini and yogini as famously known in Bengali tradition

Noticed this Maa Kali temple on the outskirts of Nandakumar in Ahmed Nagar village by lads of Kishore Sangha.

8 am, Digha-Contai Road, NH116B :-

A Memorable Road Trip To Digha Sea Beach From Kolkata. The Smoothness Experience Of Kanthi-Digha Road Is Out Of The Country. Kudos West Bengal Tourism

From Ahmed Nagar, We rode straight to Digha, 85 kms in 1 hour, surpassing Contai Bus stand and the route to Mandarmani, which falls just 3 kms short of Digha. Exactly at 10 am, that means in 5 hours with 2 short breaks of 30 mins each we reached Digha. As soon as you enter Digha town, this entry gate welcomes you for a pleasant stay by DSDA and West Bengal Tourism. One can read Biswa Bangla written in Bengali on the globe situated on top of the entry gate to New Digha Sea Beach and town city.

We finally stopped our car yatra from Kolkata to Digha exactly in the car parking of the hotel booked by Jija Ji for our less than 24 hour stay this weekend. After resting a bit in the hotel room, walked down its lobby area to stretch our spinal cord a bit after this one way 180 kms car ride. Must needed for Rahul as he was on the driving seat for 4 long hours. Last but not the least, we jumped into the soothing sea as soon as we got ourselves refreshed to walk towards the sea that noon. The hotel he booked was in old Digha, so we also made up our mind to enjoy the sea beach of old digha this time, rather than driving towards Mandarmani or New Digha. The only difference Jija ji quoted between old Digha and new Digha was the availability and non-availability of those big rock chips on the sea beaches respectively.

12 Noon to 3:30 pm, Old Digha Sea Beach:-

As we didn't had to do anything with the rock chips guarding the sea shore, we were eager to drench down the salty and saline water of the sea to challenge this sudden rise of temperature this summer, hitting the mercury in Kolkata and nearby areas to temperatures beating the records of past 18 years of summer in West Bengal. But these rocks on the old Digha beach proved to be more fatal than our assumptions. The fact was, a slight wave can leave you with cuts and bruises all over your body though you were just trying to enter the sea over through the rocks. We all five in this family vacation trip got some sort of cuts and wounds which we later found out when our body touched the wind; after coming out of the salty sea water. In my case, I was almost engulfed by the high tides and waves at around 3:30 pm while exiting the sea over through the rocks towards the concrete slab. That awkward situation which almost had drown me was due to my wrong attempt to exit the sea by totally overriding science & nature. Let me explain, it was hide tide time, the tidal waves were touching half of the concrete slab, whereas I thought that to get less cuts and wounds I should come out to the cement slab; but not through the way we entered through the rocks laid left and right to the concrete cement slab at old Digha sea beach. Those tidal waves were gushing water to move up onto the slab which then slides down onto the rocks, resulting in moving away the sand beneath the rock chips to create a hollow space. Though it seems to be normal while coming out when you see from the sea side, but as soon as you put your leg into that sand-less hollow space created by sliding water just nearby the rocks, it might prove to be profound enough to gulp a human double of your height, powered by sudden increase in tide's frequency as it throws you, actually your head on the rocks which might kill anyone instantly.

4pm, back to Hotel Room:-

After wrestling/muscling down with tidal waves hitting your chest and spinal cord again and again, sand particles sneaking into nose and mouth along with saline water, cuts and wounds gifted by big rock chips on the sea beach, and life threatening adventure sport of risking self for the sake of "Thoda Aur...Thoda Aur" at the time of high tides, we came out hungry, thirsty and full of sand all over our body bidding goodbye to sea water of Bay of Bengal while cursing the sea beach and it's rocks. Got a shower in hotel room, ordered lunch for all, munched it down and went off to take an afternoon nap till 5pm.

Evening, Old Digha beach again:-5pm to 10 pm:-

The evening spent on sea beach rock was more fruitful than bathing in the sea during the day. We walked down from our hotel towards the same old big rocks laid flattened around the cement slab on the old beach.

Resting down on those big rock chips around the old Digha sea beach, West Bengal.

Though those rocks injured us and many others tourists each and every day, but sitting on them in evening from 6pm to 10pm was the best remedy they can offer to those whom they damaged that day. That hustling high speed sea breeze and water particles coming out of the thrash of sea waves with those big rock chips were more soothing than any other stuff we did together during this journey. We clicked photos and selfies there, sat down silently letting us to absorb the divinity of nature, it's water and it's wind combined together at the same place, same time.

There was a moment when we started feeling cold, partly shivering due to the sea breeze. It was the moment, we rose to have a look on the sea-food culture of Digha and West Bengal. Astonishingly, Digha sea beach was full of sea-food, no doubt it always attracts sea food lovers all over Bengal, specially cities like Kolkata and Howrah.

Another sea-food stallwala. You don't have to dive deep into the sea to eat these fishes, crabs and lobsters, freshly fried and readily available at Digha Sea Beach Market.

To your suprise, you can also find Chicken-Kebab and Jhal-Muri, Bhel-Puri, Tea, Coffee, Kaju ke laddu, Puchka aka Golgappe, and whatever you want to munch & eat on the beach area itself. Vendors and stalls are all over the place, and no doubt they don't taste bad.

No less options for veggies though. From Jhal-muri to all other Indian snacks at one place. I bet I saw more than Muriwala.

Already marinated Chicken-Kebab sticks and Chicken-Tangri Kebab ready to be cooked and served hot.

Cooking Chicken-Kebab on a small mobile tandoor on the beach itself. It tasted like home, full paisa-vasool. Though it made me crave for more after eating one.

Having this hot and crispy Kebab with some salad and chutney cooked in-front of you on that small mobile tandoor was out of the world feeling, what else do one needs as a meat lover fighting with the chilling sea breeze blowing out your worldly problems into a fun-filled weekend vacation.
While returning back to the hotel that night we also loved to buy some handicrafts from the local stores in the market area of the old digha sea beach area, looks to be well maintained by Digha Sankarpur Development Authority (DSDA).

Next Day, the return journey, 9 am:-

The fun on the way to Digha and fro by car is unending, the smoother roads intersecting through the villages and rural life of West Bengal between Contai and Digha(55 kms) is full of greens, horticulture (fish breeding) which can be seen on both sides of the road.

This Contai-Digha road route can also be termed as paradise cum nightmare for light vehicle drivers as those private buses plying between Kolkata to digha fly their buses assuming themselves to be pilots of Jet Airways.

Almost in a hurry for loo, those bus drivers really do Full Paisa-vasool of Road Tax, which shows in their confidence of waving the bus left and right while moving forward in top speed until and unless they end up hitting someone walking down or driving down the same road. You can see how we rode through this smooth road, covered by trees planted on both sides, muscling down the flying buses in this video. दिन यानि 25 दिसंबर का दिन हम सभी धूम-धाम से मानते हैं और मनाते हैं। कहीं कोई केक और पेस्ट्रीज खाता है, कोई गिरजा घर जाता है, कोई सिनेमा देखने जाता है तो कई लोग पूरे परिवार के साथ सैर सपाटा करने निकल जाते हैं।

National Holiday होने की वजह से कभी-कभी हम जैसे भुक्कड़ लोगों के ग्रुप को कुछ रुचिकर और कुछ सुरुचिकर करने और कराने का मौका मिलता है। एक ऐसा भी बड़ा दिन गुजरा था कभी जब सभी मित्रों के सहयोग से कुछ खाने-पकाने पर सर्वसम्मति बनि। कड़कती ठंडी को मात देने और बड़े दिन को कुछ और बड़ा करने की सोच से लैस कई सुझाव आये पर किसी एक का चयन कर पाना कठिन हो रहा था। मुद्दा ये नहीं था के मुर्गी पके या मुर्गा..... :-)

पिकनिक करने के लिए मुद्दा तो यह था के चिकन करी के साथ चावल हो या सत्तू वाली लिट्टी।

आखिरकार मामला ठंडी में गर्मी के एहसास का था तो सत्तू से भरी हुयी और तेल में तली हुयी लिट्टी पर बात अटक रही थी पर निष्कर्ष निकला के जिन्हे पुलाव पसंद हो उनके लिए पुलाव भी बने।

यह तय होते ही के मुर्गी के साथ थाली में क्या-क्या सजेगा, यह भी तय हो गया के प्रत्येक बंदे को इस एक पहर की पिकनिक में कितने रुपये देने हैं और क्या-क्या काम करना है। मिल-जुलकर खुद से की हुयी तैयारी कैसा रंग लाती है इन तस्वीरों में देखते जाइये।

One of it's kind in Eastern India, this 51 feet tall Lord Shiva statue was unveiled by Honorable President Of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday, December 13, 2015. The President along with his team and Governor of West Bengal Keshari Nath Tripathi visited the famous temple 'Natun Mandir' aka 'Naya Mandir' which means 'Newest Temple' in English, i.e, Seth Banshidhar Jalan Smriti Mandir or Bangeshwar Mahadev Mandir in Howrah early morning on Sunday. FYI, the Shiva Temple rests in between Howrah Railway Station and Salkia's Bandhaghat area exactly on Salkia School Road which is both way connected to Kolkata either by road or by river through Golabari-Armenian Ferry Service as well as Bandhaghat-Ahiritola Ferry service too. It would hardly take an hour to reach the landmark if you are connecting the nearby dots I mentioned above during peak traffic hours.

Since the inauguration was of a rarest of rare Lord Shiva statue in my city by The President Of India itself, adequate measures were taken to not to repeat any occlusion again, specially stampedes like Deshapriya Park Durga Puja of 2015 which happened while inaugurating the tallest ever, 81 feet Durga Idol on October 18, 2015. Thus, no promotions were done by the "Bangeshwar Mahadev Mandir" authorities in any newspaper, TV or online media. Instead, I was aware of this fact a week ago that Honorable President will be unveiling the idol which we used to see in construction while sailing on a ferry service to and fro Howrah & Kolkata on the river Ganges. All thanks to a loquacious friend of mine for this pre-news.

This Fifty One Feet tall Shiva idol is unique in itself, not just because of geographical location but because of it's construction. The Shiva statue has five heads. It is made up of fibre glass, cement and reinforced cement concrete (RCC) and took 6 months to complete, weighing around 3 tonnes is currently shining on the bank of river Ganga on Howrah side but can be easily seen from the Howrah Bridge as well as the opposite bank of river Ganga, i.e, Kolkata side too. In case if you are Lord Shiva devotee from Kolkata, you can get a glimpse of it while visiting Lord Shiva Temple, The Bhootnath Temple of Bara Bazar, Kolkata which is situated in between Ahiritola and Nimtala crematorium.

Naya Mandir is new again. See the tallest Shiva hiding behind the temple dome. A Perfect glimpse while entering this famous temple we know by several names, such as Naya Mandir or Natun Mandir or Bangeshwar Mahadev Mandir or Seth Banshidhar Jalan Smriti Mandir. It's a proud moment for all Howrah residents and people living in adjoining areas.

Though I was not able to visit the temple early morning on the inaugural day, I visited it the same day in evening. As I entered the temple premises, I found nothing new and surprising except a well decorated temple building covered by garlands. But As soon as I came closer to the temple building, walking down the pathway and garden, I noticed something flashing on my eyes behind the temple's dome. I was something like a first look teaser.

There he was, shiny five headed Shiva who powered me up with divine feel and aroma coming out of the almighty. Felt proud that the district I was born in is in limelight for such a nice cause, felt nice that the temple I used to visit with my friends since childhood or sometimes alone in search of solace is blessed by the sight of 15 eyed Lord Shiva. What else can be more intriguing that I managed somehow to take a glimpse & blessings of the newly unveiled lord Shiva statue on it's very first day of being public, last but not the least.

Though a temple on the bank of river Ganga or a mandir committee is not enough to ensure that the whole river becomes garbage and pollution free. It would have been a regular and lazy sunday that day which comes every weekend unless there is something special to cherish about. But thanks to my friend, let's call him 'L'; who planned to visit Dakshineswar Kali Temple in Kolkata early morning to perform pooja rituals in the temple to welcome his new motorcycle TVS Apache RTR to the family.

Yes of course, he bought a new bike, performed rituals at temple, thereafter it became mandatory to give treat to friends for this welcome change. So we moved into the local snacks corner within the temple premises, just at the entrance gate of the temple if you have noticed. Ordered plates of '~~Hing Kachori~~' or 'Hing Kochuri' as you call it in bengali as it is a Bengali Dish, which was served along with sweet Chana Dal(Gram Pulse). We didn't stop there as we felt it will be stupid to not to opt for 'Lencha'; a sweet bengali dessert, which I feel is the taller brother of 'Gulab Jamun'.

इंसान और बंदर देखने में तो काफी अलग होते हैं पर ढांचा बिलकुल एक जैसा । वही २ कान २ आँखें १ नाक और मुँह वही १०-१० उँगलियों के पंजे पर सिर्फ एक अकेली पूँछ ने सारा खेल बिगाड़ दिया। वरना वो जानवर होते हुए भी आज हम मनुष्यों के साथ पल-बढ़ रहे होते क्यूंकि बंदरों को इंसानो के साथ काम करना या यूँ कहें उनकी नक़ल उतारना बखूबी पसंद है या इंसानो को बंदरों के साथ घुलना मिलना अच्छा लगता है।

झंडा फहरावन के बाद हम - सभी मित्रों में देश-विदेश की बात होते-होते बात उठ गयी गांधी जी के तीन बंदरों की क्योंकि वे कोई मामूली बन्दर नहीं थे। तीनों के तीनों गुणवान थे। एक को बुरा न सुनने का गुण था। दूसरा बुरा ना देखता था और तीसरा बुरा न कहता था। कुछ ऐसी ही कहानी आपने भी कभी सुनी होगी। है ना?

पर हमारा टॉपिक ऑफ़ डिस्कशन ही कुछ अलग था। हम सभी मित्र उस दिन फ़ोटो खीचने के बाद गांधियन युग के उन बंदरों का अस्तित्व अभी के समय में खोजने लगे।

चर्चा चली - सबने अपना अपना वक्तव्य रक्खा और निष्कर्ष यह निकला की गांधीजी के तीनों बन्दर हमारे अंदर - हमारे समाज में अभी भी अस्तित्व रखते हैं।

पर आश्चर्य न हुआ यह जान कर की हमलोगों को इसका एहसास भी नहीं। एहसास हो भी तो कहाँ से? उनके गुणों में उनके सबसे बड़े अवगुण जो छुपे हुए हैं।

वो यह की पहला गुणी बन्दर जो बुरा सुन नहीं पाता वह फर्राटे से बुरा बोलता है और देखता है।

दूसरा गुणी बन्दर जो बुरा देख नहीं पाता पर बुरा कहने और सुनने के अवगुण से परिपूर्ण है।

और तीसरा गुणी बन्दर जो बुरा सुन नहीं पाता पर बुरा देखने और कहने में सक्षम है।

अब आप ही सोच लीजिये के आज के ज़माने में जहाँ हमारे समाज के लोगों में एक गुण एवं दो अवगुण निहित हो तो समाज में भ्रस्टाचार, दुराचार, बलात्कार, अत्याचार, पिछड़ी-रूढ़िवादी सोच जैसे अवगुण से कैसे छुटकारा मिलेगा?

समाज को सुचारु रूप से इन अवगुणों से दूर करने के लिए हम सभी भारतीयों को अपने समझ से एक ऐसा समाज गढ़ना होगा जिसमे सबके पास बुरा देखने और सुनने की छमता भी रहे और बुरे को बेख़ौफ़ बुरा बोलने का आत्मविश्वास भी रहे। तभी गाँधी जी के तीन गुणी बंदरों के गुण समाज के लिए कल्याणकारी साबित हो सकेंगे।

इस दुनिया में पागलों की कमी नहीं है! कुछ होते हैं पर दीखते नहीं और जो दीखते हैं वो होते नहीं! इन्हे न कोई रोकने वाला न कोई टोकने वाला! उनकी हरकतें ही हमें अपनी तरफ आकर्षित करती हैं इसलिए चाहते हुए भी नज़र नहीं हटती! कई दिनों से मेरा साक्छात्कार भी मानसिक रूप से पैदल लोगों से ज्यादा हो रहा है! वे आपको किसी भी जगह, किसी भी समय दिख सकते हैं! कभी कोई(पागल) मुझे कूड़े-कचरे के ढेर पर आराम से लेट कर गहन चिंता में मिला तो कभी कोई भरी गर्मी की दोपहरी में ताड़ के पत्तों का चिल्लम बना कर गांजा सुलगाते हुए मिला! यहाँ तक की रेलवे स्टेशन पर भी इनके कारनामे खुल्लम-खुल्ला होते हैं!

भूख-प्यास लगती है तो दूसरों के सामने स्वतः हाथ पसार देते हैं! इनके अंदर किंचित भी घमंड नहीं आता के दूसरों से कुछ मूह खोल कर मांगना मतलब अपनी बेइज़्ज़ती करना होता है! इन्हे ना लोक-लाज का डर ना ही कल सुबह ऑफिस जाने की जल्दी ना प्रोजेक्ट पूरा कर बॉस को देने का डेडलाइन और न ही कल के भोजन के लिए आज काम करने की जरुरत ! इन्हे समाज के काम करने के तरीके से कोई मतलब नहीं, जो भी करते हैं खुद से करते हैं भले ही ज़माना इन्हे मानसिक समझे! पर जिस प्रकार साधारण लोगों की दुनिया होती हैं उसी प्रकार इनकी भी एक छोटी सी दुनिया है जिसमे वे हमेशा खोये रहते हैं! जरुरत पड़ती है तो ही अविकृत मनुष्यों से मुह लगते हैं वरना कौन सा EMI पेमेंट की आखिरी तारीख भागे जा रही है जो किसी भी ऐरे-गैरे के अपने मतलब के लिए मूह लगाया जाये!

Google Doodle for my Birthday-2014

Flooded with wishes from friends & relatives over Facebook and SMS, I was overwhelmed and excited. Suddenly, I thought of googling something. And to my surprise there was a google-doodle with cakes, pastries and candles on them. I assumed that it would be for a celebrity born on 8th of August, for example- Roger Federer who was also born on the same date and month as of mine, only the difference is of birth years. But my assumption turned wrong when I curiously hovered the mouse on this doodle just to check for whom it was. As soon as I saw "Happy Birthday Janak Kumar!" while the cursor key was resting in the center of this doodle, I was taken aback. I checked it again and it wasn't for any other celebrity other than me. Thank you Google for this wonderful doodle on my birthday. You surprised me at instant.

Mud Fishing

Yeah you heard it right, I am talking about Mud fishing because fresh-water fishing is just too mainstream. Unlike other fishing techniques like using spears, hooks or fishnets, mud fishing is an art of your hands. Often liked by kids and amateurs, fishing is always the best rewarding time-pass one can do. It requires your enthusiasm, patience and good visibility for a stubble concentration on your subject.

This incident is of my ancestral village in Gorakhpur. It was during the month of March-April, one of the ponds got dried up due to intolerable heat from the sun and the loo carried by hot winds. Well, this might sound weird but this sort of mid-summer atmospheric pressure is quiet common in North-western states of India and Uttar Pradesh is not an exception to this. As a result of the ponds drying up fastly & the water level dropping down rapidly, the fishes come to accumulate into the muddy water of the almost dry pond. This proves to be the best time for kids and other mud-fishing enthusiasts to fold up their sleeves and jump into this muddy water to catch few fishes for tonight's dinner.

And to my disbelief, the outcome of mud-fishing is fruitful, atleast fruitful enough to be served as Fish fry, Fish curry or any other dish for that night's dinner. This lucky boy(see image above) along with his other mates caught up plenty of fish with his bare hands and expertise. It fascinated me as if why I wasn't grown-up in my village to do let my hands-down for mud-fishing during Indian summer. Sigh!!

ढूंढली यादें और कंप्यूटर में रक्खे हुए कुछ फोटो ने मेरा ध्यान आकर्षित किया! जैसे ही मैंने फोटो देखने के लिए खोला तो सहसा याद आगया के यह सारे फोटो 2012 के सावन के महीने की हैं! वह मेरा आखरी सावन था जब बाबा धाम से लौटने के बाद, आखरी सोमवार को मैं अपने दोस्तों के साथ कलकत्ता के निमतला समसान घाट स्तिथ बाबा भूतनाथ के मंदिर गया था! आखरी सावन इसलिए क्यूंकि 2013 में पिता जी के परलोक सिधारने के बाद; ना ही मैं बाबा धाम गया और ना ही सावन के महीने में भूतनाथ मंदिर! समय बीतता गया, संन् 2014 आगया और मैं फिर से उसी जगह खड़ा हूँ जहाँ मैंने खुद को छोड़ा था! आज उन्ही यादों और अनुभव को कुछ पुराने फोटो के जरिये आपके सामने ला रहा हूँ!

मैं हावडा में रहता हूँ, इसलिए बाबा के मंदिर जाने के लिए मुझे बांधाघाट लांच घाट से फेरी पकड़नी पड़ती है! इस सुभ यात्रा की शुरुआत गंगा नदी पर सफर करने से शुरू होती है!

गंगा नदी पार करने के बाद, मंदिर के सामने सटे हुए नल से हाथ-पैर धो कर फूल-पत्रिका खरीदने के उपरांत मंदिर के द्वार के सामने लगे हुए कतार में लग जाने की कार्यविधि चालू होती है! सावन के महीने में श्रद्धालुओं के हुजूम के बीच लगे हुए कतार का आखरी छोड़ भी खोज पाना बहोत मुश्किल हो जाता है, क्यूंकि यह नीमतल्ला घाट से भी आगे बड़ाबाजार के पोस्ता इलाके तक लम्बी लग जाती है!

शिवरात्रि और सावन के महीने में यहाँ अलग-अलग विषयों पर बनायीं हुयी मूर्तियां और नैतिक बातों पर आधारित झुग्गियां भी देखने को मिलता है! जैसा के ऊपर वाले चित्र में आप देख रहे होंगे के भगवान शिव-संभु अपने प्रत्येक भक्त के साथ रहते हैं, चाहे वह दर-बदर भटक कर बच्चों को गुब्बारे बेचने वाला ही क्यों ना हो!

जैसे जैसे आप अंदर बढ़ते जाते हैं, वैसे वैसे ही मंदिर के अंदर का दृश्य मनोरम होते जाता है! शेषनाग के छाया में बैठे अर्धनासिरवार के दर्शन से ऐसा प्रतीत होता है मानो आत्मा-परमात्मा में विलीन हो रही हो!

दर्शन के उपरांत आरती करने का समय हो जाता है, भक्तजन मंदिर से बाहर बने मंदिर के प्रांगण में कपूर और आरती की थाल लेकर सामने के दीवार पर अंकित मन्त्रों के उच्चारण के साथ आरती करने लगते हैं! आरती हो जाने पर, आरती की थाल में स्वेत कपूर की ज्वलनशील शुद्धता से निकले हुए कालिख का ही टिका कर लेना पड़ता है, अगर आप चाहें तो बाकि की कालिख उसी कपूर के कागज में पोंछ कर अपने हिट-मित्रों को भी टीकाकरण के लिए दे सकते हैं या अपने घर ले जा सकते हैं!
ज़रा ठहरिये, सिर्फ बाबा भूतनाथ के दर्शन कर वापस घर न जाएं! अभी तो मोटा-महादेव के दर्शन बाकि हैं! बाबा भूतनाथ के मंदिर के विपरीत से कलकत्ता सर्कुलर रेलवे की पटरियां गुजरती है, एक सकरी सी गली से घुसते हुए आपको रेल की पटरियां दिख जाएँगी, उन्हें पार करते है ठीक सामने माँ काली, माता जगदम्बा, और पेड़ में अंकित श्री गणेश जी के दर्शन हो जायेंगे! बस उसी मंदिर के बगल से आप मोटा-बाबा जिन्हे मोटा महादेव भी कहा जाता है उनके मंदिर जा सकते हैं!

मोटा-महादेव का मंदिर काफी पुराना है, ऐसा आपको मंदिर की बाहरी दीवारों को देख कर ही पता चल जायेगा! उन्हें मोटा बाबा क्यों कहते हैं शायद उस विशाल शिवलिंग को देख कर ही समझ आजाता है! लोग यहाँ तक कहते हैं के मोटा-बाबा का शिवलिंग हर साल थोड़ा-थोड़ा बढ़ते रहता हैं और जिस दिन यह शिवलिंग अपने मंदिर के गुम्बज से स्पर्श होगा, उस दिन कलयुग का अंत हो जायेगा!

मोटा-बाबा के पूजा और दर्शन के बाद, पेड़े का प्रसाद आपस में बांटते हुए हम सभी लोग वापस अहिरीटोला से बांधाघाट के लिए लांच पकड़ कर वापस नदी के इस पार आ जाते हैं!

Bindaas KICK -Bollywood & Tollywood mixed

verwhelmed by the trailers of Salman Khan's latest movie KICK starring Jacqueline Fernandez as female lead, the fandom for Sallu bhai once again rose in me. Coincidentally, my friend who is also a die hard fan of Salman Khan constructed a plan of watching KICK in a nearby local cinema hall as all the seats of Inox were full for the first day-first shows. We visited a renowned local cinema hall, let's call it "Hall-1" where KICK wasn't released. Surprised and disheartened we visited another local cinema hall named CHANDAN Cinema which is just outside Liluah Railway station, in case if you want to have a glimpse of it from the train to and fro Howrah.

Accidentally while moving towards the cinema hall, we first got the glimpse of the bigger poster of a bengali movie BINDAAS starring Dev Adhikari, Shrabanti Chatterjee & Sayantika Banerjee in lead roles. Almost on the verge of being dejected, me moved closer and then saw the poster of Salman's KICK which bought a sigh of relief on our faces. There were plenty of chances for us to miss-out watching KICK on the first day of premiere if this cinema hall too doesn't have the movie released before this Eid. As a consequence of the festivity of Eid in 2014, Bindaas and Kick, both films were released by this cinema hall with two different shows on each movie.

Last but the not the least, we entered the cinema hall on time, sat down in our respective seats there. Whistled, shouted and clapped being BINDASS with other Sallu fans while watching @BeingSalmanKhan's KICK.

दर्द भरे फूलों की मीठी खुशबू

शेफाली, पारिजात, सिउली, हरसिंगार, प्राजक्ता, इत्यादि नामों से पूरे भारत में पहचाने जाने वाला इस फूल का पेड़ पुरे भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में अपनी मीठी सुंगंध के लिए माना और जाना जाता है! इसका वानस्पतिक नाम Nycthanthes arbor-tristis है, और अगर आप कभी दुर्गा पूजा में कलकत्ता पधारे हों तो आपने गौर किया होगा के पूजा मंडप और पंडालों के आस-पास; हज़ारों-लाखों लोगों की भीड़ और कई प्रकार के पकवानों की दुर्गन्ध एवं सुगंध को चीरती हुयी जो मीठी सी सुगंध आपको अपनी तरफ खिंच रही है वह इसी पारिजात के फूल की थी!

आप लोगों में से जिसे पता ना हो उन्हें बताना चाहूंगा के 'सिउली का फूल', पश्चिम बंगाल का (offcial)सरकारी मान्यता प्राप्त फूल है! और हो भी क्यों ना, ये सिउली के फूल ही हैं जो रिहायसी इलाकों में अक्सर बाग़-बगीचों में पाये जाते हैं और इनकी खुशबू हमें दुर्गा-पूजा के निकट आने का संकेत देती हैं! जैसा के आप सभी जानते हैं के मेरा जन्म और पालन-पोषण पश्चिम बंगाल में हुआ है, इसलिए गाहे-अगाहे सिउली के फूलों की मादक सुगंध मुझे किसी न किसी मोड़ या नुक्कड़ पर मिली ही जाती है! और अब तो सोने पे सुहागा ही हो गया, जिस नए मोहल्ले में गए हैं, हमारे घर के दरवाज़े के सामने ही सिउली का पेड़ है, और सावन का महीना खत्म होते ही, पारिजात के फूल दुर्गा-पूजा के समीप आने का संकेत देने लगते है! सुबह घर से बहार निकलते ही इसकी खुशबू आपका मन्न और चित प्रसन्न कर देती है और आपकी यात्रा भी बन जाती है! ऐसा सुगन्धित वातावरण आनेवाले 2-3 महीनो तक रहता है!

पौराणिक हिन्दू कथाओं की माने तो, समुन्द्र मंथन से ही कल्पवृक्ष अर्थार्त पारिजात के पेड़ की उत्पत्ति हुयी! इसे प्रेम और सौहार्द का प्रतिक माना गया है! कहानियां यहाँ तक कहती हैं के प्रेम लीला करने वाले भगवन श्री कृष्ण ने इन्द्र से युद्ध कर पारिजात के पेड़ को प्राप्त किया है! इसी पर, श्री कृष्ण की पहली पत्नी सत्यभामा ने इस फूल के पेड़ को खुद के कमरे से सटे हुए बगीचे में लगवाने को कहाँ, श्री कृष्ण ने भी ऐसा ही किया, परन्तु वह कुछ इसतरह के इसके फूल खिलेंगे तो सत्यभामा के बगीचे में पर गिरेंगे बगल वाले बगीचे में, जहाँ श्री कृष्णा की दूसरी पत्नी रुक्मिणी रहती थी और वो उन्हें ज्यादा प्रिय थी!!

विदेशों में प्रसिद्ध एक कहानी यह भी है के, पारिजात को सूर्य से प्यार था, उसने सुरज को पाने की बहुत कोशिश की पर जब उसका आमना-सामना धधकते हुए सूरज से हुआ तो वो उसकी गर्मी से भस्म हो कर राख की ढेर बन गयी, कुछ दिनों बाद उसी राख की ढेर में से सिउली यानि Night Jasmine के पेड़ का जन्म हुआ! इस पेड़ के फूलों की खासियत यह होती है की यह सुरज ढलने के बाद खिलती हैं, और सुबह का सुरज उगने के पहले दर्द भरे आंसुओं की भावना देते हुए पेड़ से झड़ कर ज़मीन पर गिर जाती है! इसतरह, हमलोग कह सकते हैं के इस फूल ने खिलने से मुरझाने तक सिर्फ और सिर्फ प्यार ही बांटा है!

चौंकिए मत, न तो आप पगला गए हैं और न ही मैं! आपकी जानकारी के लिए बता दूँ के आपने ऊपर जो शीर्षक पढ़ा वो पुर्णतः सत्य ही है! शायद ही किसीने सन् 2007 में सोचा होगा के Orkut जैसे Social Networking Website के आने से और उसके इस्तेमाल एवं प्रचलन से Online Social Networking की जो लत हमलोगों को लगेगी वो फेसबुक और ट्विटर पर आकर नहीं रुकेगी, बल्कि कुछ नया करने की होड़ में Kotak Mahindra Bank इस social media को एक ऐसा रूप देगा के आप भी दंग रह जायेंगे! अब आप Social Networking Website पर सिर्फ पोकिंग और रिट्विटिंग ही नहीं बल्कि बैंकिंग भी कर सकेंगे! जी हाँ, Kotak Mahindra Bank आपके लिए लाये हैं Jifi, एक ऐसा अनूठा बैंक अकाउंट जो खुलता भी आपके फेसबुक अकाउंट के वजह से है और चलता भी आपकी फेसबुक और ट्विटर अकाउंट के जरिये ही है!

E-statement और SMS Alert तो दूर की बात थी, तब के समय पासबुक से ही सरे काम होते थें!
