While those modifications were successful, development on SWCMS itself had pretty much dried up, which didn’t bode well for the future of JapanSoc. That prompted me to launch my own content management system in June, which the guys from SWCMS have since thrown their support behind.

It’s called Hotaru CMS and when finished will closely mimic JapanSoc, but offer oodles of potential for customization because everything is a plugin! Registration, story submission, comments – they’re all plugins which can be upgraded or replaced anytime.

As I work away on Hotaru, I’m porting Chris‘ JapanSoc theme across. Here’s where I’m at so far. The sidebar needs a lot of work, but when I’m done I’m hoping you won’t notice the difference!

Hotaru CMS is open source, so anybody can view the code, modify it and use it for free. If you’d like to follow my progress, I have a dedicated blog for Hotaru where I post updates, and of course, you’re more than welcome to join the forums (yes, I made good use of those old JapanSoc.org forums after all! :-P )

I’m looking for posts that either:
1) Review a hamburger shop somewhere in Japan.
2) Tell a story about hamburgers and Japan
3) Talk about some other candy or item that meets the critira of not being an actual hamburger, but being hamburger related, and from Japan.

I guess most of the posts will fit into the 1st category.

I’ve only got one submission at the moment, but it’s only been out there for 3 days now. Hopefully I’ll start getting more after the weekend.
