Have you ever wanted to send confidential information within your work environment, to family or friends, but were afraid to do so over the internet, because some malicious hacker could be spying on you?
Privnote is a free web based service that allows you to send top secret notes/messages over the internet as unique one-time-use HTTPS URLs that expire after its first access via any web browser.

It's fast, easy, and requires no password or user registration at all. Just write your note, and you'll get a link. The link generated for the note starts with HTTPS ie. it is encrypted with 128-bit encryption so there is no worry about you note's security. Then you copy and paste that link into an email (or instant message or Facebook message) that you send to the person who you want to read the note. When that person clicks the link for the first time, they will see the note in their browser and the note will automatically self-destruct; which means no one (even that very same person) can read the note again. The link won't work anymore [Link won't even work in History of the browser] but recipient can copy the note or can take screenshot.

[Note: Don't open the link to check it , it will self destruct the same moment and will not work afterwords]

You can also choose to be notified when your note is read by submitting your email and a reference for the note. When a note is retrieved, you will be notified and its data is completely removed from Privnote, which implies there is absolutely no way to recover it again.

"Since only the link binds the decryption key to the note's content and since Privnote does not have the link, at no time is any note held in any readable format state at Privnote. This assures that nobody (including Privnote's administrators) can read a note."

Even if you lost the link there is no worry as when a note is not retrieved after 30 days, Privnote removes it permanently, just as if it were read.

Note: Depending on the communication channel of your choice (e.g., email, fax, SMS, phone, instant messaging), there may be a certain risk that third parties intercept your communication, get knowledge of the communicated URL and thus may be able to read your message.

Tip: If you regret sending the note or if I mistakenly send it to someone you do not want to read it? Simply open it at your browser it will be destructed.

How to delete files permanently

You can delete a file either by pressing DELETE button and then empty the recycle bin some other day or you may do SHIFT+DELETE to delete it permanently but to your surprise its not permanently deleted .Here is why

"When you delete files or folders, the data is not initially removed from the hard disk. Instead, the space on the disk that was occupied by the deleted data is "deallocated." After it is deallocated, the space is available for use when new data is written to the disk. Until the space is overwritten, it is possible to recover the deleted data by using a low-level disk editor or data-recovery software."

Before the file is overwritten, anyone can easily retrieve it with a disk maintenance or an undelete utility.

To permanently erase files and prevent your confidential files from getting into wrong hands, Microsoft offers a free command line utility – SDelete (Secure Delete) – that overwrites all the free space to prevent data recovery. But if you are not comfortable with command line utility, there is an other very easy and free program called eraser. It completely removes sensitive data from your hard drive by overwriting it several times with carefully selected patterns.

[Solved]Cannot delete file: Access is denied

Ever had such an annoying message given by Windows?

Cannot delete file: Access is denied
There has been a sharing violation.
The source or destination file may be in use.
The file is in use by another program or user.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

Want to Delete a file (or folder) but unable to do so because the “file is in use”. The solution is very simple, just use Unlocker to end all the locking processes. There are many similar utilities also but unlocker is much powerful than others because it can Close/Kill process, Unload DLL, Delete index.dat, Delete Rename/Move, supports both Command Line / GUI and is Free.

After installing, Simply right click the folder or file that you are trying to delete and then select Unlocker

If the folder or file is locked, a window listing of lockers will appear

Simply click Unlock All and you are done!

Mouse Not Working? Use Keyboard To Control the mouse pointer

Is your mouse broken, or did you just forget it? Or maybe you are having USB driver problems, and your mouse isn't working in addition to that you have an urgent works to do!! BAD LUCK . But now its no more, just think about a virtual mouse, yes its possible to use your keyboard to control the mouse pointer virtually with Mouse Emulator- it emulates mouse movements as well as clicks via the keyboard. Mouse Emulator[Download here ], is a free Windows utility (~10kb only) that lets you control the mouse pointer using the keyboard. Just run the program, and it will show you which keys you have to press to move the mouse cursor. This program is also very useful for laptop owners with low quality mouses. Just hold down the Fn key, and you can use the numeric keypad in the center of your keyboard to move the mouse! Mouse Emulator can also toggle mouse buttons with a simple key press. This is very useful for RSI users that have problems with drag operations with the mouse.

It maps the following keys to mouse movements: (NumLock must be ON!)

Keypad 1 - Left mouse button
Keypad 2 - Right mouse button
Keypad 3 - Middle mouse button
Keypad 4, 5, 6, 8 - Moves the mouse left, down, right and/or up respectively.

Manage Your Inbox: Unsubscribe/Delete Bulk Emails with a Quick Online Tool

Is your email account filled up with lot of newsletters, daily deals, special offers, useless subscriptions, bulk mails, junk messages etc.?? And you are tired of deleting them manually daily. Lazy to unsubscribe them or perhaps you don’t know to which unnecessary things you have been subscribed which you loved some day but now you don’t feel any interest in them and have stopped using them. This happens to most of us but manually finding , unsubscribing and creating email filters for them is tiresome job.

Here is a quick solution to this very big problem. It has been possible by online service called Swizzle Inbox Manager ( previously Unsubscribr ), which will help to save your inbox from email overlaod by giving you an option to check the active subscriptions on your email and then let you unsubscribe and delete those junk/bulk email messages. Once you enter your email and with verifivcation you will be able to see the list of subscribed services with two options in front of them, one is just to unsubscribe form the service and the other option actually deletes all previous emails from your account too to get rid of those useless emails. In Gmail you might have used the ‘Search’ options and created filters to manage your email but this online tool seems like a more easier and simpler options which does not take a lot of time.

It works on special process called OAuth to sign in to your email account which look for special parts of email messages to determine whether the message is bulk mail or not. Software just examines them for the telltale signs of bulk. A very similar manner to what you do to sort your regular snail mail. It pick out a random subject line and unsubscribe information from mail that has been identified as bulk so you can use it during the unsubscribe process.

which can do these tasks but now it has gone far simpler with Google Chrome and that too without any Software/extension , Just press CTRL+P and your job is done. See the screen shot if it seemed tough. Just try to test on this webpage!

You can not only create PDF using print command in the Google Chrome but you can also read your created PDF in Google chrome hassle free. Adobe reader is no more needed when you have Google Chrome.
If you want to create a PDF file having only selected pages from the PDF stored in your PC , Just open it using Google Chrome and then use CTRL+ P [Print command] and fill the page number, in the print dialog box, that you want to get converted in to new PDF file.

How to Download Android Application APK to Your PC from Google Play

But sometimes we want to download the android market application on our pc[apk files] due poor/no internet connectivity on our mobile device but there is no official method to download APK files. Apk files may also be required as backup of our apps on our pc though we can also backup our app using very popular apps like "Astro file manager". The solution to this problem is a google chrome extension called as "APK downloader". APK Downloader is a Google Chrome extension that allows you to download Android APK files from Android Market to your PC.

In three simple steps you can easily download the APK files on pc and thn transfer it to your sd card to enjoy apps on your android device

1. Disable SSL error warnings

Right click on Chrome shortcut, select “Properties”
Switch to “Shortcut” tab. In “Target” field, insert [space]--ignore-certificate-errors at the end. Once you have that finished, click “OK” .

It will look something like this:
C:\…\chrome.exe --ignore-certificate-errors
Close Chrome and open it again with that shortcut

2. Enter email and device ID on Options page

Open dial pad, call *#*#8255#*#* ( 8255 = TALK ). It will open “GTalk Service Monitor”, find lines that begin with JID and Device ID. Your email is JID, and your device id is a string that after android- prefix
For example: It shows android-1234567890abcdef , then your device ID is 1234567890abcdef
Enter your email’s password, then press Login.
Then choose your country and SIM operator and same settings. You are done with setup, now start using.

Tip:
Do not type in random email or device ID, it won’t work
To know your device id and email you can also install an app called DeviceID[click to install]

3. Start using

After finished two steps above, you can start using APK Downloader. Open Android Market/Google play , view any FREE apps , then press the APK Downloader icon on address bar ( see screenshot )

Facebook's Advanced Settings for Chat

Facebook have revised its chat settings for the chat sidebar, now you will be able to handle your visibility on chat more efficiently with these advanced settings.These advanced settings give you a few different visibility options with which you can:

Stay online (available) to most friends and go offline (unavailable) to specific friends or friend lists.
Stay offline (unavailable) to most friends and go online (available) to specific friends or friend lists.
Go offline (unavailable) to all friends.

To Change the Facebook chat settings Click on chat gear[] at bottom of sidebar and then click on Advanced Settings....

Then a pop will appear with Advanced Chat Settings:

There are three options:

All your friends see you except.. : In this you can fill the name of the Person(s) / List(s) to whom you want to appear offline . If you want to appear online to all then leave this box blank.
Only some friends see you.. : With this you can go online to only specific people that you enlist in the box below it. If keep the box empty, you will get offline to all.
No One sees you (Go Offline ): This is as simple as Go Offline option and you will get offline to all.

If you get stucked somewhere and let things as default, then select "All your friends see you except.. " and then keep the box empty and click Save.

Quick Tip:If you want to go offline to any one person quickly, then click the [at the top of the chat window], and select Go Offline to X.

Facebook Again Enables The News feed Sort

Facebook News Feed that got couple of changes after the f8 by Facebook . Previously the Facebook news feed was sorted on the basis of Most recent, Top news. But in recent changes it has got merged up and we get Top Stories on top of news feed followed by the recent stories of news feed . Today Facebook introduced the sorting for the news feed.There are two options Highlighted stories first and Recent stories first.To do this follow the simple instruction below:

Click on the Sort menu in the top right of your News Feed to change how stories are sorted.

Recent Stories First: Stories will appear in the order they were posted. Highlighted stories will be marked with a blue corner.
Highlighted Stories First: Highlighted stories you haven’t seen yet will appear at the top of your News Feed. (If you don't see highlighted stories, it's because there aren't any new highlighted stories since your last visit.)

I think Its very good Change as it will allow Facebook users to sort the news feed according to their Choice.

Facebook is reading "What's on your mind?" . Yes this is the thing that Facebook asks you when you are about to post an update over it and they really mean it as they read it very carefully. You might have came to this thought when Facebook shows grouped post having common topic about which you are talking about like A friend's Birthday or a festival etc.Today while using Facebook I came across a very new familiar situation. I was updating my status and then by mistake I Re-pasted the same status again , I got a popup from Facebook saying:

Duplicate Status Update
This Status is indentical to the previous one.

It was quite useful as it saved me to make the same update again, this is called the smartness of a social network and I think its possible in only Facebook.

Have ever been encountered by this situation?
What would happen if Facebook reads/checks all your previous messages for duplicability?
And what about checking the statuses of the all Facebook users for duplicability?
Will it then restrict the spamming bots and the manual viral copy paste statuses/posts on Facebook? Do comment.

Facebook New Smart Lists : An inside look

Previously I had shared the blog post from the Facebook about the Facebooks new improved lists, Now i am going to give more inside look of this feature from my experience on it.

See more in News feed from your close friends
Keep your different life in a separate.
Share your posts with just the right people.

The three main division of you lists will be :

Close friends: Your best friends, who show up more in news feed.
Acquaintances: Friends who should show up less less in news feed.
Restricted: friends who can only see posts and pfofile info you make public.

Apart from the three basic you will have Smart lists that update automatically based on your friends profiles to save your time . In the above screenshot you can see that there are a Smart Lists based on my profile information on Facebook , like where i work at ie Jasmeetishere.blogspot.com, the school where i studied, the location where i am currently living and some more based upon the profile on Facebook.

Now lets have a closer look what does thses actually mean to us, viz. if u want to share your updates with a particular set of people then you can easily do that by use of these lists. It will help you to share with just the right people,you will have a better control over your privacy by using this list see the screen shot below.

Accessing these lists is very simple. They are placed on the left sidebar of your Facebook homepage. With this you will have a quick access to the updates and photos of the friend who you care about the most while skiping the updates from acquaintances you dont know well.

Adding friends to list is very simple. Just Go to the specific list from the left sidebar and then type the name of the friend to whom you want to add your can simply choose from the list of auto-suggestions.

Adding friends to smart list also follows the same procedure but there is little additional dialog box for this that says "When you add a friend to a smart list , we'll suggest that they update their profile , friend will receive a suggestion to do that update which he/she can choose to accept or ignore it.

"In both the cases [i.e Simple lists or smart lists] The Facebook will never tell your when you add them to close friends, acquaintances or other regular(non-smart) list. "

Facebook New Subscribe Button: A Complete Review

Facebook, the social giant makes a new move by introducing the subscribe button for your profile to let the non-friend members of the Facebook to see your Facebook shares using the Subscribe feature.This Feature works similar to the Twitter's and Google+'s follow button .The difference is that in the Google+ you have a Different Circle for the people to whom you are 'following' .After the Launch of Facebook's smart list in which you can make a list of different set of people similar to Google+'s Circle but The circle named as 'Following' was missing in the Facebook Smart list. So Facebook introduced this as separate feature and named it as Subscribe .Now lets have some closer look at the Facebook's Subscribe button and How to get Subscribers and subscribe others.

"You need not to Subscribe your friends as they had already been subscribed, but you can refine your feed subscription of individual friend(which is discussed later on in this post.)"

What Does the Subscribe means?

When you allow people to subscribe, anyone who’s interested can get public updates you share from your profile, right in their News Feeds. This lets you share with a broader audience, while reserving personal updates for people you know well.You can have an unlimited number of subscribers, and easily update them from your mobile phone.

How To Get Subscribers?

Go to your profile and click Subscriptions on the left side of the page, under your profile picture.
Click "Allow Subscribers" at the top of this tab.
After you click "Allow Subscribers" your settings appear. From here, you can edit who can comment on your public posts and when you’re notified about new subscribers.

You can also go to https://www.facebook.com/about/subscriptions to start allowing people to subscribe to your public updates.

How to Subscribe Others?

To Subscribe a person on Facebook who has allowed to Subscribe his/her public post/Updates to non-friend on Facebook . Go to the person's profile ,now click on the subscribe button. Yes! its done!. Very simple

How to Edit feed Subscription ?

You can fine tune your news feed by clicking on the subscribe button on the profile of the Friend or a Public figure/person. The Option available in the subscribe button of the friends is are much more and little different from the option available for non-friend Facebook member.

In case of Friend you can fine tune your news feed as :
All updates:Every thing a friend posts.
Most updates: What you normally get.
Only Important:Just highlights,like a new job or move.
You can also adjust what type of updates do you want to subscribe like life events,status updates,photos and videos,games,comments and likes etc..

In case of non friend you have pretty similar kind of options but the main difference is that you will only able to get the public updates by that person.

You can easily unsubscribe the updates from any person by just clicking the Unsubscribe from the menu of Facebook Subscribe button.

Why and who should use Subscribe button?

If you are an individual who wants to share your updates with a larger audience, you may want to use a profile with subscribers. Public Figures, like Mark Zuckerberg, can use a profile with subscribe, a Page, or both. A profile with subscribers is ideal if you want to personally connect with people who are interested in you. It's fun to receive updates from friends and others that you want to subscribe to, and it’s easy to publish to your subscribers on the go. Anyone who subscribes to your profile can receive your public posts in their News Feed. If you are a business or organization, like Facebook, you can only use a Page.

Or perhaps you'd like to share a personal story with your family—without also telling all your co-workers. With improved Friend Lists, you can easily see updates from and share with different lists of friends.

To make lists incredibly easy and even more useful, Facebook now made three improvements:

Smart lists - You'll see smart lists that create themselves and stay up-to-date based on profile info your friends have in common with you--like your work, school, family and city.
Close Friends and Acquaintances lists - You can see your best friends' photos and posts in one place, and see less from people you're not as close to.
Better suggestions - You can add the right friends to your lists without a lot of effort.

Smart Lists
Managing lists is boring. That's why smart lists do the work for you. To start, we'll offer you smart lists for:

Work
School
Family
City

For instance, if you list Boston College as a school you've attended and your friends John and Sarah do too, then you would instantly have a smart list called "Boston College" with John and Sarah on it. This means that if you're having a grad party or a college reunion, you can easily share photos with just your college friends, without bothering other people you know.

You can also add or remove friends manually to make the lists even more accurate.

Close Friends and Acquaintances Lists

Close Friends list - Add your best friends to your Close Friends list and you'll see everything they post in News Feed. You can even jump straight to a view of your News Feed that only shows their photos and news. You can also receive notifications when they post updates, so you don't miss anything important.
Acquaintances list - Add friends like old classmates or business contacts to your Acquaintances list and you'll see less of them in your News Feed. We'll still show you important things they post -- like when they get married or move to a new city -- so you don't lose touch completely.

Okay, what about your boss or the few other people you like but just don't want to share with on Facebook?

You can add these folks to your Restricted list and they will only see your Public posts. You'll still be friends on Facebook so you can send them messages or tag them in a post if you want to connect to them from time to time. It's totally up to you.

Unlike your smart lists for your work, school, family and city, we don't create Close Friends and Acquaintances lists for you. Since these types of relationships are unique, it's important for you to decide who goes in your Close Friends, Acquaintances or Restricted lists -- if you use them at all.

If you created your own lists in the past, you can still use them. You can also continue to create whatever lists you want in the future. When you post something to a list that you've created -- including your Close Friends and Acquaintances lists -- no one will be able to see the title of the list.

The people on the list you've shared with will be able to see each others' names. This gives them more context. For example, if I see that a post is shared with my five closest friends, I am much more likely to comment freely on it than I would be if I didn't know who else could see the post.

Better Suggestions
Facebook provide suggestions for your smart lists, Close Friends, Acquaintances, and your own lists, making them easier to create and update.

When you add someone as a friend or confirm a friendship request, you'll be able to add the friend to any of your existing lists.

See and Share With Exactly Who You Want
Each of your lists has its own News Feed, where you can see just the photos, status updates and other posts from the people on the list. To view list News Feeds, look for the Lists section on the left side of your homepage and click the list you want to see.

Whenever you feel like sharing something with a narrower set of friends, simply use the dropdown audience selector in the sharing tool and pick one of your lists.

You can also use lists to help control who sees what on your profile, using the audience selector next to each detail on your profile.

Google Makes New Changes to the looks of Web Search

Today I came across clean and clearer looks of Google's changed web search page. In this changed look of Google web search you will observe changes in the font,colour and other new visual changes used in the web search by Google . You will notice the changes like:

The hyperlink in Google web search are not underlined.
The colour have been been changed slightly but remained blue.
The colour of the URL also remains the same but slightly different tone of green colour.
The text in the new web search have enhanced readability.
It looks more clearer , and has more focus on the title of web page and its URL with the use of more contrast colours.
