I backed my car out and shut the garage door at 4:44am. I silently pleaded that THAT would be a sign of good things to come.

(Listen, when the clock strikes 12:34pm and you feel lucky, or if you stop the microwave at :01 before it beeps and you feel like a gangster, YOU ARE MY PEOPLE)

I arrived to the gym and reflected on why I was on the hunt for good things to come.

It had been a hard <s>week</s> <s>WEEKS</s> month.

OKAY, FINE, 2026 HAS A FIRE UNDER MY BUM AND HAS A CAN OF GASOLINE IN HER LEFT HAND JUST WAITING TO MAKE LIFE MORE INTERESTING.

I’m doing the work. Focusing on my actions, releasing anxiety from my thoughts. Meditation, breathwork, coaching.

I’m basically feeling like a mix of Deepak and Tupac.

I will also admit, in full honesty, that there were moments when even the best advice couldn’t help me from my analysis paralysis.

In those moments, I had to dig deeper for a bigger why.

Every time I wanted to stop out of fear, anxiety, or overwhelm, I immediately thought of my daughter and I began to take actions not just for myself, but for her, so one day she will be able to do the same.

Not an example of perfection, not an example of fearlessness.

An example of being scared and doing it anyway.

An example of what it looks like to get back up after being kicked down.

An example of somebody who has the odds stacked against her and yet still finds a way to not just survive, but thrive.

I am inviting you to think of a thing or a person or a cause that allows you to dig deep when things are not going the way that you want or expect, because I’ve realized is that this is simply the Game of Entrepreneurship.

More things will go wrong than right.

You will walk through a graveyard of mistakes.

There will be more valleys than peaks.

There will be more rejection and failure than success.

But if we do not quit, we cannot lose.

And if we are NOT just doing it for ourselves, the stakes become higher, but the rewards become greater.

Here’s to the greatest rewards,

j*

P.S. Speaking of sharpening my entrepreneur mindset, I had an AWESOME conversation with Coach Keren Eldad on my podcast…she’s world class at helping overachieving perfectionists get bigger results with less stress…LOVED it!

For a long time, I believed my role was to convince people.

I stood on stages and spoke to thousands—sometimes tens of thousands—about marketing, branding and content. I explained why showing up online mattered and why building a personal brand could change the trajectory of your business.

Over time, I realized something important: the people who were ready to act didn’t need convincing, and the people who weren’t ready wouldn’t be persuaded by more information. So, I stopped trying to convince. Now, I simply present my case.

And that case, simply put, is this: building a personal brand is no longer optional for anyone who wants to grow a business in today’s environment. Personal brands are built digitally. And the entrepreneurs and businesses that understand how to operate within that framework will move far faster than those who don’t. The question isn’t whether this shift is happening. The question is whether we are willing to lead into it.

Leadership Is Modeled, Not Mandated

One of the most consistent challenges I see in running an online business is a gap between expectation and behavior. You know creating content is important, but you’re hesitant to do it.

That hesitation is understandable. Content creation takes time. It can feel uncomfortable. And early efforts often don’t produce immediate results. I’ve experienced that personally. I’ve spent time creating content that generated little engagement, and it is easy in those moments to question whether the effort is worthwhile.

But the issue isn’t whether or not every post performs. The issue is whether you’ll show up and do the work, even when the results take a long time.

Social Proof Drives Conversion

Customers don’t make decisions based solely on product features or brand positioning. They make decisions based on belief—and belief is often built through other people’s experiences.

Highly produced marketing assets have value, but they are often less persuasive than authentic, user-driven content. A real person sharing a real result carries a level of credibility that traditional marketing can’t replicate.

The transformation associated with a product is not communicated through the product itself, but through the individual using it. That is what creates social proof. In simplest terms, YOU create social proof.

Content Creates Momentum

In every business I’ve built or advised, there are moments when growth slows or engagement plateaus. In those moments, content can act as a powerful catalyst. It reintroduces attention, sparks conversation and creates new entry points for customers and prospects.

This doesn’t happen through isolated efforts. It requires consistency and alignment. When content is created strategically—focused on specific products, initiatives or outcomes—it can drive measurable movement. Momentum doesn’t happen by accident. It’s built through sustained visibility.

Overcoming the Barrier to Entry

While the strategic value of personal branding is clear, the execution is often where people hesitate. The barrier is rarely technical. It is emotional.

(Yes, your feelings are often more powerful than actions you don’t want to take!)

Creating content requires a willingness to be visible, and that visibility introduces risk. There is concern about how content will be received, whether it will meet expectations and whether it will reflect well on the individual or the brand.

This hesitation is natural, but it is also one of the primary reasons many people never get started or do not engage consistently.

The truth is that most people aren’t held back by a lack of strategy—they’re held back by a fear of being seen trying. One of the greatest advantages I’ve developed is simple: I’m willing to do what others won’t. I’m willing to show up before I feel ready, to post when it feels uncomfortable and to improve in public.

One of the most important shifts I made in my own approach was accepting that content does not need to be perfect to be effective. In fact, content that feels overly polished can sometimes create distance rather than connection. What resonates most is content that reflects real experiences and real progress.

That means normalizing imperfect content, providing clear frameworks and reinforcing that consistency is more important than perfection.

Building in Public

A key component of personal branding is the willingness to build in public. Waiting for ideal conditions—perfect timing, perfect messaging, perfect production—delays progress. In reality, those conditions rarely exist.

When business owners document their journey as it unfolds, they create a narrative that others can follow. This builds relatability and strengthens connection. It also provides a record of growth, which reinforces credibility over time.

Adapting to a Video-First Environment

Another critical shift shaping personal branding is the move toward video. Across platforms, content consumption has evolved. Video is the dominant format for engagement. It allows for faster communication, stronger connection and more dynamic storytelling. As platforms prioritize video content, those who adopt it early gain increased visibility.

This does not require high production value. It requires clarity and consistency. Simple, direct communication often outperforms more complex formats because it’s both easier to consume and create.

Consistency Over Immediate Results

One of the most common questions surrounding content creation is return on investment. It is reasonable to ask how time spent creating content translates into measurable business outcomes.

The reality is that personal branding operates on a longer timeline than traditional marketing tactics. Individual posts may not produce immediate results, but consistent effort builds an asset over time. And that asset is trust.

Over time, that trust compounds—making every future action more effective. From a strategic perspective, this makes personal branding a long-term investment rather than a short-term tactic. The return is not always immediate, but it doesn’t have to be.

A Strategic Decision

Building a personal brand ultimately comes down to a decision.

It is a decision to prioritize visibility, even when it is uncomfortable. It is a decision to lead by example, even when results are not immediate. And it is a decision to invest in a strategy that compounds over time rather than one that delivers only short-term gains.

The Long Game

Personal branding is not about a single post, a single platform or a single campaign. It is about consistency over time.

It is about showing up when it’s inconvenient, continuing when results are not immediate and improving through repetition. It is about understanding that visibility leads to trust, and that trust—in turn—leads to growth.

The opportunity in front of us is massive. Access to platforms, tools and audiences has never been greater. But access alone does not create results. Action does.

What happens next is a choice. A choice to create. A choice to lead. And a choice to play (and win) the long game.

I’m supposed to be in Mexico City today.

A string of events occurred that left me shaken…and sad.

My mentor, sweet Susan, invited me, JD, and Luna to Mexico City to celebrate life.

Mostly, her life. She was diagnosed with stage four cancer earlier this year, so every day is a gift.

We aren’t sure she will make it to the end of the year, so Susan invited us to see the world, eat the best food, and live to the fullest with her.

Then life had other plans.

We had to save our trip for another time, but it highlighted the grief I carry like bowling bag every day.

Since the beginning of 2026, Susan was diagnosed with incurable cancer, my uncle passed away, my brother is living in a homeless shelter, and my mother has an undiagnosed ailment that’s rendered her to a wheelchair.

It’s a lot.

I haven’t shared it (and a litany of other things) publicly, because—well—I’m just trying to keep my head above water.

Last week I read, “Grief shared is grief halved. Joy shared is twice a joy.”

So this is me, the whole of me, sharing a bit of my grief in attempts to lighten my load because…

…what I share online is mostly joy, which you help multiply.

But only sharing one side of the grief/joy coin isn’t the full picture, is it?

As entrepreneurs we often find ourselves in the mire of pain, happiness, fear, frustration, and hope.

Most days I experience all that…and then some more.

This note is simply a reminder that as business owners we are ALL navigating the highs and lows of life behind the scenes.

We put on brave faces for our teams. We smile for our content. We do what it takes to keep moving forward.

We also silently carry a bowling bag of grief. All of us.

I’ve come to accept it’s normal. Not easy, but, alas, normal.

If you’re carrying the weight of life’s challenges, I see you. We’re in this together.

And one day, I look forward to sharing your Joy when it inevitably heads your way.

Because it will.

To Life,

Most people go to Disneyland for the rides. I went for the reminder.

I celebrated my birthday last week with Luna and JD at Disneyland and I couldn’t stop thinking:

“THIS is what a world-class brand feels like.”

Not looks like. Feels like.

Because Disneyland isn’t selling tickets: They’re selling transformation.

You don’t enter a park…you enter a story.

You don’t stand in line…you build anticipation.

You don’t buy merch…you take home identity.

And it made me ask myself (as an entrepreneur):

Am I creating an experience… or just delivering a service?

Here are 3 branding lessons I took home:

Consistency builds trust Every detail—smell, music, language—is intentional. Your brand isn’t what you say once. It’s what people experience repeatedly.

Immersion creates loyalty Disney doesn’t break character. Ever. Where in your business are you accidentally “breaking the magic”?

Emotion is the product People won’t remember every detail… But they’ll never forget how you made them feel.

And that’s the real flex: Not being the best option, but being the one they can’t replace.

If you’re building a brand right now, don’t just ask:

“What do I offer?”

Ask:

“What do people feel when they experience me?”

Because that’s what they’ll come back for.

When You Wish Upon a (J)Star,

Somewhere along the lines in my life and business, this weekly letter has become a journal of sorts.

Catharsis on the internet, just you and me.

There are things that are easier to gloss over, in the name of I’m-just-so-busy or **the guise of I’ll-share-once-I-figure-it-out.

Well, today is not that day.

Today is the moment where I give you a direct look into the last four and a half weeks, filled with unexpected turns.

During the second week of March, I made the (hard) decision to step in as the Sales Manager.

This required me to let go of the former sweet, good manager (so hard), in order to rebuild the department and team.

I was sick making this decision, but I jumped in feet first and looked at the team during our first meeting together and said the following: “I don’t know what I’m doing…but we’re about to clean house and play at a new level.”

I spent hours(sssss) each day studying how to scale our systems and sales, and—some mornings—drank Alka Seltzer because of how nervous I was to guide such a talented team with what felt like a butter knife, a whoopee cushion, and a harmonica.

I spoke with a voice that quivered, but I didn’t back down from stating my expectations and goals.

Over the last 30 days, I’ve become an entirely different person.

I know it sounds like a stretch (and a bit self-congratulatory), but it came at a cost.

Sleep. Ego. Money. Comfort. Status quo.

There were days when I wanted to face plant on my desk, but I refused, because this?

THIS work, THIS privilege? I chose it.

I refused to complain because this (difficult) opportunity empowered (and required) me to earn the right to grow with a solid foundation of culture, excellence, and expansion.

In the last month, we grew in new ways (adding three new members to the sales team) and served hundreds of clients well.

It hasn’t been easy (and we still have a SO much to learn), but I am proud.

If there’s one thing I’ve been reminded of in this process it’s this: The hardest moments provide the most gratifying ways to grow, if we don’t give up.

Here’s to the hard moments, may they shape us into being the people who earn every good thing coming our way.

To Growth Always, in all ways,

j*

P.S. If you’re looking for an [epic] free leadership training, join me in a very private conversation I had with a consultant.
This isn’t my normal message. Prepare your heart, friend.

Every week I write you a note with business insights, marketing advice, and branding tips.

I love it (I really do!), but lately I’ve been so frustrated with what I’m seeing.

(I’m actually pissed off, but since my mom will read this note, I’ll keep it family friendly.)

I’m so sick and tired of seeing women:

Ask for permission.

Talk themselves down (or worse: out).

Wait.

(For WHAT exactly, who knows? The “perfect” timing?)

Play it safe.

And here’s the ironic part: I WAS THAT WOMAN.

For years I asked (and waited) for permission, playing it safe, and talked myself out of betting on myself.

It wasn’t until 2007 that I made my first solo decision, for me: I quit law school.

2010: I created my first digital product to sell online.

2016: I sold my first digital course.

2017-2026: I created a membership, I created more courses, I created a tech company, I created a holding company, I created a business coaching team.

Did you see that pattern?

The faster I bet on myself (and stopped asking for permission, waiting, or doubting), the faster I got results.

So forgive me FOR GETTING MY PANTIES IN A KNOT when I see other women holding themselves back.

It pains me.

If you don’t allow yourself, advocate for yourself, or demand what you need, it will never happen.

You will never get the chance to get what you want.

Your dream life. Family vacations (upgrade your tickets to Lightning Lane at Disneyland, baby!). Choosing the best school for your kids. Donating to charity. Buying a home.

None of that will happen if you don’t fight for YOU.

And here’s the hardest part: It will be hard.

You will doubt yourself (and so will others). You will want to quit (and others will want the same). You will get frustrated (other will too).

But you must not stop.

You will learn to trust yourself, but you—only YOU—need to take the first step.

Ask for their help (not permission). Talk yourself up (not waiting for others to do it for you). Stop waiting (you’ve waited too long already).

Forgive me, if I offended you.
But, you’re welcome if this was what you needed to hear.

I Bet on You,

j*

Here’s how to create SIX Instagram posts in less than SIX minutes. Below is my step-by-step process.

(I’ve had two of hardest work weeks, so while creating content was the LAST thing I wanted to do, I knew it’s the best thing for my business.)

If you, like me, are spread thin, busier than a bee in spring, and refuse to make excuses, let’s GET STARTED.

Each of the following Instagram posts took less than six minutes to create:

Now let’s break them down one by one (so you can create your own version this week, no excuses!)

Handwritten Quote – Shoot time (1 min), Post time (2 min)

My husband held a phone over my head. I wrote this quote using my daughter’s craft paper.

2. Testimonial post – Shoot time (1 min), Post time (3 min)

While at an event a few weeks ago, a videographer captured this video clip as I walked into the winter gala. He texted it to me. A week later, I received a DM from a student with her INCREDIBLE results, so I added the screenshot on top of the video. The caption was a direct shout out about The Consistent $10K.

3. Straight-to-Camera – Shoot time (4 min [2 min record/2 min add text]), Post time (1 min)

I set my phone on the bathroom counter while I did my hair. I shared a quote I saw on TikTok. Total reel length: 10 seconds.

4. Lifestyle video clip – Shoot time (1 min [6 sec clip/1 min add text]), Post time (3 min)

We went to the beach. My daughter removed her hair wrap and made a flag. I was able to capture about 6 seconds before she ran off to build her castle. I added one of my favorite quotes and explained the wish I have for my daughter.

5. Ask Me Anything – Shoot time (5 min [1 min to film, 4 min to edit]), Post time (1 min)

I simply sat in front of my camera for 30 seconds and recorded myself putting my hair in a bun. In Instagram Edits, I edited the video to 8 seconds to keep the visuals engaging. I added text for people to comment their questions for me. Boom, done.

6. How To – Shoot time (1 min to film, 10 min to edit), Post time (1 min to edit)

In reference to the Ask Me Anything post (right above ^^), I created a tutorial on how I reply with long answers to long questions. I explained how I use voice-to-text on Instagram to save time, have real conversations, for real connections.

(In full disclosure, it was the first time I created a video in this style so I wasn’t organized, but when I create this type of post again, it’ll take me just a few minutes because I learned a lot of lessons when it came to prepping for the edit, like having the screen shots ready instead of trying to do two things at once.)

So there you have it.

Six posts you can create in less than six minutes.

If you need (ANOTHER) reason to create posts on Instagram, then you MUST check out this podcast with Ashley Brock!!!

She explained how simple videos absolutely dominates ad content and how you can easily get more leads for your business with her RAINMAKER strategy. Check it out >HERE<.

Six minutes,

“If you need something done, give it to a busy person.” – Unknown

If you’re anything like me, you have a million spinning plates, and a to-do list longer than a Target receipt.

Let’s talk about how I maximize my work day by getting organized from the start.

My team and I use Asana to manage our projects and assign tasks, this way we don’t miss deadlines or constantly have to follow up for status updates.

Last year, I asked the team to assign the time duration they think it should take to complete the task. It looks like this:

Because each task has a time length listed, my executive assistant can maximize how much I can get done in a day.

The tasks are added to my calendar, so I know what, exactly, I should be doing and when. It looks like this:

Now here’s where I need to be very clear: I don’t think this is the “right” way to plan a work day.

This just works for me.

I have a small team, a lot of business opportunities, and quite a bit of responsibilities…I’m in a season of growth, so my work days are packed.

It won’t be like this forever, but—for now—my work time is carefully measured. Why?

I want to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner with my family.

I want to workout daily.

I want to walk to the park with my daughter.

I want to have coffee with my husband every morning.

I want to read at night.

I also want to be a CEO. And this time blocking work schedule helps me have the best of both worlds.

Planning this way also empowered me to attend a conference in Vermont, and take JD and Luna with me.

I spent the days working, learning, and networking, but we also had time for building snowmen and making snow angels.

If you’d like to try this approach this week, simply add a time duration to your to-do list and calendar.

You’ll amaze yourself at what you can get done, despite how busy you are.

In a season of growth,

j*

P.S. I shared this video (Why You’re Stuck, and the science to move forward), and the team has gotten such great feedback, so I wanted to share it in case you it puts a pep in your step!

“You’re in the room because you have something to give.” – Fawn Weaver.

I’ve never been to Vermont. I’ve never skied, I’ve never worn snow pants, and I’ve never been in a room of 8-figure entrepreneurs who built the world’s best sales teams.

And yet, I found myself flying across the country to say yes to new things.

But saying yes to new things sounds great, until you’re actually doing it.

Newness often feels like holding fool’s gold: shiny and hopeful, but leaves you feeling, well, foolish.

I started feeling out of place when the event organizers sent the attire recommendations (Welcome Gala – wear Alpine chic, winter white out!)…

I worried a little more when the itinerary allocated plenty of time to ski Stratton Mountain (Will there be activities for brown girls who’ve never even ridden a toboggan?)

I broke out into a cold sweat realizing that many people in the 8-figure mastermind are generating more money in one month than I’m generating all year.

Then I remembered a podcast interview I did with Fawn Weaver, an incredible entrepreneur who once told me that she walks into every room like she owns it.

And I believed her. Fawn doesn’t necessarily embody the energy of her namesake. (If she had a name that reflected her energy, it’d be less baby deer, and more mama lion.)

Her piercing green eyes dared me to doubt her, in fact, she invited it. She loves to prove people wrong.

But what she loves more? Helping people win.

She told me that she’s in rooms far beyond her imagination because she knows she has something to give. While she acknowledges that inequities exist in all facets of life and business, she believes we all have unique experiences and insights that are powerful in their own right.

Minutes before stepping into the Welcome Gala (adjusting what I hoped was an Alpine chic outfit…but, really, what did that even mean?!), I whispered under my breath, give, give, give.

My value—and yours—doesn’t reside in what we’ve done or have, but, rather, in what we share.

We all have something to give, and I hope you walk into your day with your head held high, and lion-vibes. Give, give, give.

Lastly, I documented my trip on video, so I can’t wait to share all my insights and what I learned with you in an upcoming podcast. I look forward to bringing you in the room with me.

To walking into new rooms like we own them,

j*

P.S. If reading about an 8-figure mastermind excites you, but you’re not quite sure how you’ll get there, you must listen to THIS podcast with Tori Dunlap (@HerFirst100K), who breaks down how to make more money…and let go of old stories holding you back!
